Came for a 70 minute body and foot combo massage for the first time and was really impressed by how amazing the massage was. Very rarely am I actually completely satisfied at a massage place cause either the pressure isn't right or they just don't know the right spots to massage. Margaret was my masseuse and she's really strong. Strong but knows all the pressure points so that it actually feels really good. Every part she massaged was great but the face, head and shoulders really stood out. She applies strong pressure there as well but it was so relaxing and felt amazing. She seems to be committed to her work and will make sure the pressure is ok and will ask if there's any focus areas. She puts in the effort to make sure all the hot stones, towels etc are ready so that there isn't time wasted in between and she's definitely not one of those masseuses elsewhere who is texting/on their phone while massaging. Came here for the reviews but I thought the overall experience was mediocre. We decided to do the 1 hour foot massage ($40) with head, body and feet. The foot massage felt AMAZING that I almost fell asleep. The back massage was alright and my person pushed really hard on my back and butt. Wow, it hurt and I grunted too but nothing changed. Overall, it felt alright but you get what you get for the price. Some things we didn't like: -my fiancés person showed up 8-10 mins late but we both ended at the same time because another group came in so he definitely got the short end of the stick -it was NOT relaxing at the end because 2 people came in and was LOUDLY speaking. I tried shushing but nothing happened. The owner or the workers didn't shush them either so it was very annoying -we didn't get to tip the workers ourselves which felt impersonal but I guess it's whatever. We'd probably give it one more shot but it was honestly not as pleasant as we'd hope. read more

Tom has been my masseur for the past six years, and he is hands down the cream of the crop, the best of the best. I first met him when he worked at Ann Karen Spa when I had a stiff neck that resulted in my feeling of a lump in my throat. Through just a couple of sessions of his meticulous massage, my ailment disappeared. He also fixed the back pain I had been suffering for almost 20 years since college after falling on my tailbone while ice skating. He just has the magic hands that can feel where my muscles sore the most and knows how to use just the right pressure to relieve my pain and help me relax. Most recently, I went to see him, limping due to pain around my toes that wouldn't go away for two weeks. After two back-to-back massage sessions a couple of days apart, I was running around normally and doing my everyday chores again. Throughout the years, Tom has relieved and healed my numerous aches and pains, and I'm so grateful for him. He doesn't just provide any generic massage, he changes his methods according to the different problems I have at the time. He never cease to surprise me with his amazing skills. They have both private rooms and common area (four massage chairs). I personally like combo massage chair more than room because I usually get the body foot combo with clothes on, and I like the openness more. So, this is one of those hidden gems in Pasadena. The outside could scare some people away- but J&J footcare has some excellent people that deliver very good massage. Jerry- the owner is always sweet and very helpful and I highly recommend either Tom or Margaret for massages. I'm sure other people are great as well! The inside is clean, and the services range from 30 min foot massages in big chairs to 2 hour deep tissue massages with cupping. It's been some time since I returned so things have changed. *They ended 10 minutes early. *The baseline reflexology($40) no longer includes the back. *The baseline reflexology does 5 minutes of head, arms and hands, and 45 minutes of feet and legs. I just assumed the prices increased, but the massage remained the same. It did not. The old baseline reflexology is now the $50 one. I finally found a great walk-in foot massage place in the SGV. Parking is even available behind the building. I prefer foot only because sometimes body massage is too hard. They soak your feet first in hot water to clean them. Then you are given the option to lay flat or at an angle in a large comfy chair. It's not private but it is a great foot massage. I get my lashes done next door and decided to give this place a try after reading about the benefits of foot detoxing. The gentleman at the front desk was really nice and friendly. He took me into this private room and hooked me up to what operates like a tens machine (ionic) put my feet in this plastic lined foot soaker and told me to lay back and relax. Now most places lead you to believe that the change in color of the water means that the toxins are being released from your body. After some research I've learned this is NOT the case. It's the other gunky stuff that means the toxins are being released. At any rate, I enjoyed this experience and will definitely be returning. I may even return for a couples massage. Only if we get the private room. They have beds just in the middle of the room and there's no privacy. I wouldn't want to get a massage in an open setting like that. read more

I've been hitting the driving range obsessively for the past few weeks and have managed to develop some serious muscle strains. I'm fully vaccinated and test regularly, so I finally decided to get a massage, one of the many things I've missed for almost two years now. Thankfully, the SGV isn't short of massage spots. My minimum requirements is (in order): cleanliness, minimal chatter, performance and price. J&J hits all and it definitely was one of the more pleasant experiences I've had getting a foot massage. The place is on a busy section of Colorado Blvd., but parking isn't bad as there's spots in the street as well as in the back. It's not one of the most aesthetically pleasing storefronts you'll see, but once you get inside it's a lot more pleasant. It's actually bigger inside than you'd think as there's multiple rooms for single body massages and a large common area for foot massages. It's also neat and tidy, and they do a temperature check to make sure you're not walking in with a fever. Prices are very reasonable. I chose the hour foot massage that starts with a relaxing head massage, then a foot massage, and ends with some work on your back. My tech was very good and worked out a lot of the kinks and strains I had coming in. Things are kept quiet in there (which isn't always the case at some other places), and that adds to the relaxing atmosphere. Definitely would recommend! read more

I LEFT THE MASSAGE WITH MORE STRESS THAN I CAME IN WITH. Masseuse (Margaret) HASSLED me for a higher tip & literally did not give me the change I asked for. I received a $65 massage (menu price went up as I was expecting $55 as posted on Yelp), I gave Margaret $80 cash and asked for $5 back, the rest she could keep for tip. She returned with cash in her hand, but she would NOT let it go and AGGRESSIVELY asked me, "Did you not like my massage?" I said, "I did like your massage, and you could keep $10 as my COURTESY tip." She then heckled that the tip was not high enough. My body knows when it's being bullied, so I told her I could not be bothered to argue this and left. I will not be returning. If you're looking for a Chinese foot massage place with reasonable pricing, decent work, and you can tolerate a poor attitude- + bad energetics; come here and pay with a credit card (+$1 service charge). One night, with a bestie, my usual joint was booked, so we yelped and yelped, landing here at J&J. It's not the closest to home, nor is it in the best location of East Pasadena, but I go here exclusively now. Great service. Extremely competitive prices. You get your choice of just the standard foot massage, or get a combo, where they take you to a small curtained "room" to undress and get your back and legs massaged with oil.
