We have been working with J&J Roofing since May of 2022. At that time, we suffered damage in a room during the rains and interviewed many roofing contractors. All of the roofing contractors other than J&J Roofing advised us to re-roof our entire house. Even though the front half of the roof of a 50 year roof (which was installed before we owned the house and J&J Roofing as not involved) has not lasted anywhere near 50 years, the front side and back side have worn differently. All of the other roofers would not even re-roof just the front half - it was all or nothing. J&J said that they could easily repair the issue without re-roofing and it cost us less than $500 for them to repair it. The repair worked. Almost four years later (and they had told us that at least the front half of the roof had only a few years remaining), at least the front half of the roof needed to be replaced. Since they had been so fair and honest with us and we were pleased with their work, we did not bid out the project - they got it. As they had said before, only the front half of the roof needed to be replaced at this time (with a possible additional ten years on the back half). We own solar panels and they referred us to someone who agreed to remove and replace the panels for almost half the cost that the company which installed the panels would have charged us. While it's not inexpensive to re-roof a house (even half of a roof), we felt their price was fair, they saved us the additional $3,500 that our solar company would have charged, their staff and crew were and always have been very professional and honest. The roof looks wonderful and they coordinated scheduling for the solar panels to be removed and replaced. They collaborated with that business. We recommend J&J Roofing without hesitation. read more

4/24/2026 J & J Roofing installed my roof about 6 to 7 years ago. It has been completely trouble free. No leaks, no issues. Still, seven years in the sun is a long time, so I called them for a "Roof Check Up." Alex came out, moved across the roof like a spider on a web, found a handful of non-serious issues, and fixed them on the spot as part of the checkup. I had a lot of questions about the condition of my roof and roofing in general. Alex could not have been more obliging. I know he is time constrained during a visit, but he clearly and succinctly addressed every question. It does not get any better than that. Thank you, Alex. As an aside, I also asked him to touch up the chimney flashing, the vertical metal piece where the chimney brick meets the roof tiles. Mine was structurally fine but looked ugly. He "painted" it, and it looks great now. Before calling J & J, I contacted a chimney company that wanted to replace the flashing entirely. Their price - hold your hat! $2900! We recently got a new roof on our 1914 bungalow with J and J. Dealing with the company was great at every stage, including phone calls to let me know how weather was affecting the upcoming schedule. We had a fairly straightforward project with one exception: an old HVAC unit had been left on the roof, not connected or used for many years . The crew was able to remove it for us. One of our neighbors used J and J roofing to replace their roof a couple of years ago so we decided to add them to the two other firms that were coming out for an estimate last November. Of the three companies, Joe from J and J did the most thorough inspection of the roof on our two storey Craftsman house. I'd asked the other two roofing companies what they would do if it happened to rain mid-job, which was a problem when we'd replaced another roof years ago. Joe was the only one with an acceptable answer ("cover the roof") and we knew we'd found the right place. We'd planned on hiring them after the rainy season was over but as it worked out, the extreme winds that fanned the Eaton Fire in January 2025 did considerable damage to both the house and the garage roofs, as well as some structural damage to the gables holding up the eaves on the north side, which complicated things We decided to go ahead and schedule the work. During the process, Matt Glass, one of the owners, was in constant contact which made the project go so more smoothly. His firm was even able to reinforce the section of the house with the gables as well as reattach what turned out to be a poorly added addition (with 8 layers of roofing!) that has been added sometime in the 30's. His workers were knowledgeable, professional and did a really good job of cleaning everything up when the work was complete. HIRING THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST DECISION WE EVER MADE! Regarding their response, below, they have our phone number. They already told us they will do nothing, so we are looking into how to hold them accountable for the extensive damage they have caused to our home. Our roof has a 10-year warranty, so stating "the roof was done 9 1/2 years ago" means it is still under warranty, and we have had numerous episodes of leaks. Most recently, they patched over a failed previous patch that had been placed over a negligently unsealed part of the roof, sealing water in between the roof and bedroom ceiling. We have MOLD from this!!!!!! THREE episodes just in that one area and there are more areas that have had leaks, see below: J&J CAUSED US nearly a Decade of Unresolved Water Damage. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM BASED ON OUR ONGOING NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE WITH THEM! Our experience with J&J Roofing has been a catastrophic ten-year ordeal. The replacement of our torch-down flat roof with TPO resulted in repeated, severe water damage to our home. Initial Flood: Days after installation, our kitchen flooded because of a drain clogged with J&J's construction debris (video evidence available). This resulted in extensive wall and cabinet damage and prolonged disruption. J&J denied responsibility for some of the damage to our walls, although everyone who has examined this area states it was from the waterfall that J&J caused in our kitchen because of their negligence. Recurring Water Damage: Our plaster bedroom ceiling and archway repeatedly suffered water damage, including buckling, cracking, and rippling. Despite clear evidence and expert opinions confirming water damage, J&J consistently denied responsibility, leading to heated disputes. They eventually paid for one ceiling repair but refused to address the archway's recurring damage and the current water damage. Warranty Failure and Mold: Recently, under warranty, we experienced further water damage and mold growth in the same areas following heavy rainfall. Justin from J&J found a significant leak in a patch they had installed, with water "squirting" into his face. He then attempted to deflect blame by claiming the leak was caused by screws left by a previous contractor, despite no work having been done on the roof for three years other than some tile replacement on the opposite end of our home. Refusal to Repair: J&J offered to open the roof and spray borax on the mold for a large fee but refused to cover the extensive water damage they caused. Justin, who initially communicated via text message, suddenly claimed he "doesn't use his phone for business" when pressed for accountability. He directed us to "talk to Matt," and refuses to reply even though he had said he would get back to us. Ongoing Damage and Legal Action: We are now facing significant mold and structural damage, confirmed by independent inspectors. J&J's defective roof has caused extensive recurring damage. The mold testing company found that J&J did not complete repairs in our kitchen. There is extensive water damage and mold at the top of the cabinets where the water poured in after J&J left our one drain clogged with their construction debris. We are pursuing all available options to hold them accountable. J&J's shoddy workmanship, refusal to honor their warranty, and blatant attempts to avoid responsibility have caused us immense stress and financial burden. We called J&J Roofing about a leak that formed in our ceiling during the recent rains. Jush came out today and had a look, he told us our problem was coming from an upstairs window and not the roof. Before today, I had called two other companies for quotes. The first company wanted to charge us a few thousand dollars to replace an entire section of roof and the second company told us our roof was fine, but they were not able to assess where the leak was coming from. I really appreciate Jush's sharp eye and expertise as it saved us a ton of money that would have been misspent fixing the roof and not the window. We've engaged J&J for a reroof project as well as previous smaller recaulking job on our 1300 sq ft, 100+ year old Craftsman style home. Really enjoyed working with the J&J team throughout each stage of the project. We pulled the trig when a small unseen hole beneath one faded out tile produced a tiny leak that of course turned into a bigger leak below, causing damage to one of our rooms. I gathered some estimates to replace the roofing part of the project and J&J came by and throughly evaluated the job -- on the roof, etc. -- before Juss submitted a fair price through his office. By contrast, another company bid the job from available online photos (!) and submitted a guess-ta-mit that was 10k more. So lame for that company. But I digress. The new roof installed by J&J is boss. I appreciated the meticulous eye for detail Carlos, Alex and the team employed in repairing rotted out boards, especially in a key area of the roof covering our back porch/patio. It was gratifying to see the job unfold, and climb on the roof with the team to inspect smaller points like missing vent hoods and whatnot. In our case, J&J was quite responsive, via telephone, text, and on site. In our experience, they took the care to respect and repair our all wooden home long before any roofing tile was eventually installed. On one day of the project, we even had a morning of light rain -- yikes -- but they had covered the entire house in heavy plastic tarping, securely fastened for the wind. That was an anxious night but we did not encounter any trouble. Like a lot of ppl, the value of our house rose significantly in the past few years, and we want to protect our investment with the best -- in this case, J&J. Especially gratifying was sleeping through those crazy rainstorms we had this season, and last, and not having a single leak. Although I ultimately decided to go with a different company that could handle my roof, siding, and bathroom work together, I have complete confidence that J&J Roofing would have done an outstanding job. If my project were only for the roof and siding, I'd have chosen J&J Roofing without hesitation. Unfortunately, I also needed to fully remodel a bathroom affected by mold, and the contractor I liked best for that work had a large minimum project size, so hiring them to do everything was the most cost-effective choice. With the rainy season just around the corner, we realized it was time to replace our multi-decade-old shingle roof in Eagle Rock. So I got 6 estimates from top-rated roofers,** and the estimates, as well as the quality of shingles, we varied a lot. We decided to hire J&J Roofing due to a neighbor's personal recommendation, their excellent communication, and quoted us for CertainTeed shingles, which is one of the highest-rated brands available. Their estimate was neither the cheapest nor the most expensive but it was very reasonable. I felt like we were in good hands because they're factory-trained, multi-generational installers, and all of their foremen have 15-20 years of hands-on roofing experience. Plus, they're insured, L.A. certified, pay worker's comp, and they've been in business for 30+ years, so they checked all the boxes for us. The first day, they showed up on time and removed the old roof, making sure to cover everything with tarps and cleaned up everything that day. The next day, upon passing inspection, they installed all the metal flashing, loaded all shingles up to the roof, installed 30-lb rip-proof synthetic felt with triple layers in the valleys, and started installing the shingles. The third and final day, they finished what they started and cleaned everything up, including the gutters as well as the entire circumference of our home. Now we can go into these rainy months ahead without having to worry every time it rains - actually, I can't wait for it to rain again! This review is long overdue, but I really wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone dealing with a similar situation. My roof had been leaking since 2023. I had multiple contractors come take a look, but none could give me a clear answer about where the leak was coming from. Most of them just recommended replacing the whole section, with one estimate coming in around $9,000. Then I found J&J Roofing. Joe, their senior inspector, came out and was able to pinpoint the exact spots causing the leak during his first visit. Just based on his inspection, he could even tell how old my roof was and assured me it still had plenty of life left--it definitely didn't need to be replaced yet. His report showed that all I really needed was some maintenance--patching up old seals and a few small repairs. Joe came back a few days later and finished everything in about an hour. The best part? No more leak, and the whole job only cost me $900 instead of $9,000. I'm really glad I found a company this honest, reliable, and professional. Absolutely stay away from this unprofessional company that does incredibly shoddy work!!! They lie, their communication is terrible, and their work is substandard. You have been warned!!! I am the President of a Condominium Owners Association in Pasadena and in March 2019 we entered into a contract for J&J to "prep and clean existing roofing and install Ultra-Reflective, CRRC and Title 24 compliant APOC® Silicone roofing system." $42,000 to basically pressure wash our roof and paint on a silicone roofing system above 10 units with roofs. Within months of the application, in numerous areas of the roof, bubbles began to form on the roof. The problem was widespread, not just contained to a small area. In talking to other roofing contractors and doing internet research, I learned this bubbling demonstrates the silicone was not applied correctly. Below is from an internet search: "Problem 2: Adhesion Issues Silicone coatings require a clean and dry surface for proper adhesion. If not applied under the right conditions, or if contaminants are present, adhesion problems can occur. This may result in sections of the coating peeling or bubbling, leaving your roof vulnerable to leaks." J&J came numerous times to scrape these bubbles and re-apply silicone. After the company did this for more than two years, they just informed us that would no longer fix these bubbles. They advised correcting the mistakes from their substandard install would no longer be covered under warranty. We currently have numerous bubbles scattered across the roof that we have simply ignored because J&J will not warranty the labor anymore. More recently, we had a leak in a unit that seems to have originated from the roof. The hurricane in mid-August caused a leak to appear in the master bedroom of the unit. In September, we demoed the affected dry wall to search for mold and identified the substructure that was wet confirming the roof is the source of the leak. On October 2, I spoke to Jelani and scheduled a tech to come and inspect and water test the roof in the area where the leak seemed to originate from. I was told someone would come on October 11 at 10:00am. Of course, I did not request written email confirmation, but I know it was October 11 because as soon as I got off the phone, I texted fellow Board members and the homeowner the date and time. On October 11, no one showed. When I called the office, Jelani placed me on hold for about 10 minutes. He finally got back on the line and he advised that the appointment was for 10/18. I know I was being lied to, but I had no written confirmation of the 10/11 appointment, so there was nothing I could do. On October 18, the technician arrived. He believed that there was an area above the leak where he could apply silicone around gas and electrical lines to the AC unit on the roof. He did not do a water test. He brought up a tube of silicone, applied some of it to the area, and said it would dry in 30 minutes. He said to do the water test the next day. Two weeks later, the silicone is still wet. (See the attached picture.) The tech left the tube and the product expired in 02/2021. (Again, see the attached picture.) We assume that the expired silicone is why it is still wet. I spoke with one of the company clown Directors on 10/19/23. He emailed Matt, the owner, about the situation. After he sent the email, he advised me, "If you don't hear from anyone in a week, give me a call back." I explained that timeline was absolutely not acceptable. The homeowners have been sleeping in their living room since the end of September. Our Board asserts there is significant evidence the silicone was not initially applied correctly and we suspect that the area around these pipes is yet another symptom of that. We waited an extra week to have a tech on site after the initial appointment was moved because I was lied to (though I cannot prove it) and then another week elapsed waiting for expired silicone to dry. I emailed Matt, the owner, who still has not contacted me. Instead he got the lying Jelani to schedule an appointment for today. The lying Jelani contacted me and sent an email confirming an appointment today for 11:30. Of course no one has showed up today. When I called, Jelani provided some lame excuse about what was put on the work order. Here we are a month from when I first contacted J&J and getting a competent tech to the site to deal with their substandard install is simply beyond their capability. Or they just really don't care. At this point it seems we have no choice, but to contact counsel. If you are a Condo Owners Association or a commercial site, you would be absolutely foolish to use this company. read more

Unfortunately had a very poor experience with this company. Hired them for roof repairs at my place of business, which had a small leak. When the repairs were completed, I contacted them to make sure everything was fixed, as there was forecasted rain in the next few days. Their response was "Repairs went great. We did a lot of work on the roof and you should be set for these next rains." The rains started Friday and when I arrived at my business on Saturday morning there was very significant leaking and flooding. I immediately called and left a message and emailed photos of the issues. No one responded until Monday morning, and I understand they are closed on weekends, but for a business that is likely to have emergency situations during the rain, feel that they should at least check messages in these circumstances. They said they'd send someone to meet me at 8:45am on Monday morning to inspect the damage and it's now 9:30am and no one has showed up. Insurance co came in and told us we needed a new roof to keep our policy. J&J had done a smaller job for us a few years ago so called them again. As it was the first time, the whole operation was impressive. Courteous, punctual, fast, fairly priced, and just an EXCELLENT job. We had new roof in a week on two separate structures, no bs, just good, hard professional work all the way around. Justin and Jush were responsive and followed though on their original quote. Edgar the foreman ran a tight ship. Alex the project manager was super helpful, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Would gladly work with him again. Great company.
