My husband and I purchased our first home in 2022, a house built in 1929 and, before us, owned by…read moreone family for 30 years. The previous owner had done a lot of patch repairs on the roof himself, so after the rains in 2022/23 and the hurricane this summer, those smaller repairs no longer held and we had a massive leak on our hands. We contacted a few roofing companies, but most were not willing to physically come to our home to look at the leak and give us an estimate. Hexagon was the first company that came out, and Jared showed up promptly, equipped with a ladder and a drone. He spent some time on the roof, took pictures, and walked us through what was going on. As first time home owners, we really appreciated that Jared was willing to take his time and talk us through everything. The issue was felt paper underlayment which was basically crumbling at this point, and the plywood beneath the roofing shingles was exposed and rotting. Jared gave us a few options, gave us a few quotes for those options, and encouraged us to get other quotes before making our decision. Ultimately, we went with Jared and Hexagon because we felt that their price was fair, and they give you a 50 year warrantee for the materials and a 10 year warrantee on the labor, and we appreciated the time and care Jared took with us during our initial inspection. Scheduling the job was a little stop and start, but once we got a time on the books, Jared and his team showed up, and replaced an entire section of our roof in one day. They even went out and got paint to match our house trim so that everything looked perfect, and they installed attic vents (which our attic DESPERATELY needed), that weren't even part of the initial quote. Jared's team took pictures of their work along the way, and while I wish the roofers had been a bit more communicative with us throughout the process (which we told Jared when he came to close out the job), their work was excellent. And the quote was accurate, no extra charges or hidden fees. What's more, we had a small issue with one of our front porch tiles getting cracked in the process of debris coming off the roof, and Jared went above and beyond to make sure the tile was replaced before he would accept final payment for the job. We're planning to have Hexagon and Jared come back to do another section of our roof that's not currently leaking, but has the same felt underlayment. I truly couldn't be happier with the work and customer service, and can't recommend Hexagon highly enough.

Fortunately, my garage (which was storing much of what I had that wasn't in the house) was the only thing that suffered damage, Unfortunately, most of my mementos were destroyed. I reroofed, and now almost 30 years later, with rumors are that El Nino is making a return visit, I thought (since we had suffered minor leaks during some of the recent rains) it was time to reroof, so I put Yelp to work to find me some people to interview. I picked five for the information I could glean, asking few questions, since I knew opening my mouth connected to a brain that knows little about roofing, would be a bad idea and also seeing if people were helpful with their explanations. Everyone (maybe except one) was personable enough for me to think I could work with them, but much of the information was kinda the same thing (although I noted some improvements in roofing since 97 that were useful to ask each about). The prices were more or less the same, and close enough that I knew I could find a point that would be roughly around the general price for them all, so it wasn't money. It was rapport and ultimately who gave me the greatest sense of trust. And. I learned, information that no one else told me. Roy, with Top Roofing was the ONLY one of the five that I saw who discussed the solar pool heating on my roof with me; each of the people I met with went on the roof. Not one other person mentioned it, and if you have solar panels on the roof - it's a consideration in doing the job. When I called the others who'd come to the house to say I'd made my choice and asked why I picked someone else I told them this - it was determinative that one person told me this was a job that needed to be done in addition to the roofing. He hooked me up with a solar heating company, he'd worked with before and I got on the phone with them and felt reasonably satisfied that between them and Roy it would get done on time, on budget. (It's not a small add-on to have them remove and reinstall the works, so if this affects you, be warned). Roy stayed in touch with me throughout - He came by and we spoke on phone daily. We had agreed that in the cost we he would completely replace and repaint a tongue-and-groove porch which was pretty rotted out) and aside from some permit forms I had to fill out, gave me a date of less than a week every date was kept. His crew was punctual, and so neat - the pool was covered, they cleaned up each of the five days they worked. Roy walked the yard with me before they started so I could make sure my gardener trimmed where he needed to, then walked it again, to tell me where we might need to keep trimming. He touched base with me every day, and when it was over gave me a video of the roof (both the main house and the garage were reroofed), and the porch which looked haggard now looks beautiful. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. And it looks really good. And since the last time I put on a roof, the tile now cools down the exterior which is good to have in an LA summer. The roof is up, the solar heating is back in operation. Let's go. A roof is an expensive proposition, and I think it's ok to know little if you hire someone you believe in (and, I'll admit, test out a little bit at the onset), who speaks to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't overwhelm you, but I think this was an incredibly positive experience in terms of labor, cleanliness, schedule and most importantly communication. I don't ever usually leave reviews, but Legends deserved it…read more We needed a new roof as the old one was falling apart, so I contacted a few well reviewed contractors. Jesus came over and spent the longest with me out of all the contractors I spoke to. He was patient, knowledgeable and upfront. Their quote was extremely competitive and covered lots of things other companies excluded or charged extra for (permits, any replacement decking, extra layers of shingle to remove etc). They also offered zero interest financing with no payment for 12 months. After some delays in getting started which was not their fault, it was due to continually rainy weather, Robert and his team arrived. They kept me informed throughout the process, took photos (and drone shots) of the roof coming off. They did a great job with the new roof and cleaned up thoroughly after it was completed. The level of customer service was 10/10. Robert even came back after the job was completed to fix some small issues with the gutters, which wasn't part of our agreement but they kindly did it anyway. I'm only going to use them from now on for my roof jobs.

After getting seven different estimates to replace the underlayment on my tile roof in Valencia, Ferguson & Melvin stood out immediately. They were the only company that honestly told me I likely still had about five years of life left on my existing underlayment warranty and that I probably did not need to replace it yet. Instead of trying to sell me an expensive reroof, they recommended performing maintenance and repairs to prepare my roof for the heavy storms expected this winter. That honest advice saved me thousands of dollars because I was able to repair the roof for a fraction of the cost of replacing the underlayment. Their customer service was exceptional from beginning to end. Every phone call, text message, and email was answered promptly. They were professional, knowledgeable, patient with all of my questions, and always treated me with kindness and respect. They truly make you feel like family. What also impressed me was their approach to the work itself. Of all seven companies, Ferguson & Melvin was the only one that planned to remove and store the roof tiles on their scaffolding instead of stacking them on my flat roof, which I was concerned might not safely support that amount of weight. Other companies either wanted to stack the tiles on the flat roof or hand-carry them down to the ground and back up again for an additional charge of around $4,000. Two wouldn't take the job because it was too small. Franklin came by and gave me the best price. After the initial deposit, his crew came by about a week later and finished the job in one day. I think they did a pretty good job replicating what had existed before, although the work seemed a little sloppy. I saw a few gaps in the framing, but they were able to seal it up with bondo. Also on one of the posts there was a large crack in the wood, but that was sealed as well. For the price, I think this was a pretty good value. Would definitely recommend for smaller jobs like mine.

Highly Recommended! My fiance and I live in an apartment building that J&J Roofing services. We had a leak earlier in the winter and called our property manager and they said they would send out J&J roofing to assist us, apparently they've been using them for years. J&J Roofing were very responsive to our calls and questions throughout the process. Since both my fiance and I work during the day, I was worried that it'd be hard for us to be able to be home at the right time, but the guy doing the scheduling said the inspector would be there during my lunch hour. I'm happy to say that the inspector arrived within the 30 minute range we were given (Yay), and he was very courteous and did his best to get in and out of our unit, given our time constraints . On the day of the repair, I saw the roofers getting up on the roof and off the roof, but they were quiet enough with their work that I never heard anything they were doing. Fast forward to today and I'm happy to report no leaks so far this rainy season. Couldn't really ask for anything more. I almost forgot to even give them a review (and I'm not big on taking the time to write reviews either) but seeing their business card in a drawer reminded me of my wonderful experience and I wanted to share it for people out there looking for a good roofing company! :) read more

J&J installed my roof and the difference between what was installed by the prior roofer and what J&J did was like night and day. They were very detail-oriented. The prior roofer had done it "for less" (prior owner had opted to not use J&J) but I ended up losing a lot of time when the final result was so bad it had to be removed and re-done. I wish it had been done by J&J Roofing in the first place, would have saved a lot of time and hassle. When I needed them to come look at something else (nothing they had done wrong) they not only handled what I wanted rapidly and inexpensively, they fixed another thing they noticed (again, nothing I had had them look at before) for free and didn't mention it (I noticed it and called them to ask about it, they said it was just a courtesy). My advice: rather than "save money", use J&J -- they ended up by far being the best value. Update: one of their inspectors was in my area in October 2010 and offered to come by and check up on my roof for free (roof was fine), I have never had a contractor do that before. read more

This review is for a Roofing Estimate for J & J. Jush gave me a call just about 5 minutes before his scheduled arrival and told me he would arrive shortly. Jush arrived with a smile and a handshake and quickly got up on the roof of my house. Right away he saw an issue that he said I could resolve myself, and then proceeded to take pictures of other issues he saw. After about 5-10 minutes, he came back with his assessment of our roof: still in pretty good condition and that I would probably have to do some minor repairs that I could easily handle without having to pay them. He estimated I still had at least another 15-20 good years left. Although I didn't actually have J & J Roofing do any repairs on my roof, I appreciate the truly free inspection and I will probably use them if any other issues arise. J&J Roofing just finished re-roofing the buildings on my property in Pasadena, CA. I'd give them more stars if it were possible. The team that worked on the project was very courteous and professional. Alberto, the lead couldn't have been nicer. Justin, Mike, and Jalani in the office were really good to work with. Their pricing was fair, and they were very responsive to surprises that came up on the job. An unexpected structural problem became apparent after the garage roof was removed, they just added men to the job to get it done in a timely manner. The team was on time every day, worked diligently all day, and left the property really neat and clean each day. They were very nice guys and did more than was required. J&J really saved me a ton of money and a huge hassle when they came to repair the shoddy job that another roofing company had done 5 years before and then, unsurprisingly, gone out of business. My roof was a complete and utter mess so I had J&J come out and give a quote for the repair job and, while I thought I was going to have to pay to have a whole new roof done, J&J said they could make the repairs and re-shingle only the areas that had to be done. The crew came and did a thorough inspection of the whole roof, determining what areas needed attention, and then they got to work. For a fraction of what it would have cost to re-do my entire roof, J&J fixed it up and it's as good as new. I will definitely recommend J&J to my friends and neighbors. read more

Lost a ton of shingles on our roof during the large wind event in June and figured it was time to replace the roof, the entire team at J&J was incredibly helpful during our roof replacement and helped us file a claim with insurance (seeing the entire process through with our adjuster) . The quality of work was great and the job was completed on time. The subcontractor that dropped off the shingles accidentally hit an irrigation line (our driveway is pretty tight) and J&J remediated the issue right away without question the moment we notified them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I've been having leak issues off and on for awhile now. Wanted to get multiple opinions. Every roofer that inspected the issue told me I needed to replace my whole roof and nothing else could be done. Their quotes were outrageous. I called J&J, they were a little booked up but still came out the same week. They were very honest, the inspector told me it didn't need to be replaced and he gave me an estimate for a repair. Since they completed their work last fall, I've had ZERO leaks through this whole winter. I highly recommend this company because of their integrity to see that the job is done right and that people aren't being taken advantage of. 10/10 for J&J! read more

With all the rain recently I needed hire a roofer. I asked a friend for a suggestion and they said I should look on Yelp. J&J Roofing was the first company that answered their phones. Thankfully they had a recent cancellation so they were able to come out fast. The inspector that came out went up on the roof and found that I had a vent pipe that needed to be sealed. I was relieved to find out that was all I needed. The inspector gave me the Yelp deal for $155 without me even asking for it and he was off. He told me I probably had 5 years left on the roof and considering how much of a breeze this was I'll definitely be calling them when the time comes. read more

I recently called J and J, they were extremely nice and professional over the phone. I wanted to know what might be wrong with my roof. It appeared to be leaking but I did not know if it was from the air conditioning unit, skylight or the roof itself. He said not a problem and quickly scheduled me for an appointment. When the inspector came from his company, he took about 20 minutes to look at the roof and let me know that it appeared to be the skylight. They did not charge me for the visit. I hope I don't have a roof leak in the near future but if I do I know where I will call. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with J&J Roofing. Everyone I spoke with was helpful and pleasant, they even helped me choose the right roof color for my home. I originally wanted black, but then thought it would be too harsh of a color and not something I could just change on a whim. Blake was understanding, they brought me shingle samples and helped find the color I really liked based on a roof photo I sent them. I recently had an issue with my home where there was some tiles being lifted off the section of the roof. When I called here, I was greeted by a not-so friendly man on the phone, whom told me he wasn't sure if he would be able to find time to fix my home.. meaning that this was a small job and they didnt feel like doing it, really frustrating as a home owner. I was so impressed with the professionalism of J and J Roofers. They replaced my garage roof faster than quoted and were very thorough in cleaning after themselves. I've since called them out when the winds lifted some roof tiles on my house and allowed rain to leak over my bedroom. I just had my roof siliconed and repaired by J and J Roofing and they did a great job. Rob did the estimate and Justin and the crew did the work as promised. They are so honest and very professional. J & J roofing have done a great job both in responding to my phone calls and email questions and also their workmanship. Installation of drain scupper and patch work to the roofs, house and garage, were completed very well and look great! They also did a fabulous job cleaning up after they were done. DT Roofing took on a roofing + solar project on our historic home, which involved a tile reset…read more(preserving our old tiles), as well as a reroof of our flat garage roof. For the rear part of the house, we did a "comp out" around our solar panels, which looks great. This project was quite involved, and took a very long time to complete due to our solar contractors. David was very patient throughout the whole process, and didn't put any pressure on us. Three things that I really liked: 1. Visually, the roof looks excellent. It looks much cleaner than the previous tile roof. Juan, our lead roofer on the project, as well as the rest of the team, did a great job. 2. When there were minor issues that popped up, which are to be expected with such a complex job, guys were at the house the next day to take care of them. 3. Of the many contractors that came to bid on this roof job, DT Roofing was the only one willing to actually do a true tile rest, and try and save as many existing historic tiles on our roof. Almost every roofing company that came out tried to pressure us to get rid of the existing tiles, and just buy new tiles, saying that at least 70% of our tiles were going to break when removed. The guys were able to save the majority of my tiles, which helped to save us money, and also helped us to keep using many of the tiles original to the house.

We went with Reno's Roofing after talking with a few other companies. Talked to Roger on the phone and he promptly came over to give me a quote. Price was very competitive, which was better than most quotes that I got. Quote didn't include any plywood, but he threw in 2 plywood for free (only had to replace 6 plywood total, so paid for 4). We got our roof done during busy rainy season, so picking a date was a challenge. The project itself went well. On the first day of the tear down, I was surprised how fast and efficient the team worked. By the end of the day, roofing materials were already delivered, damaged plywood replaced and underlayment installed. They finished the project exactly on time, as they said they would. However, when we were getting initial quotes from various roofers, they spent the most time on our roof (and actually made return visits) as well as gave us specific issues to look at for the roof replacement. None of the other roofers gave us this level of time and service for an estimate. And their estimate was very competitive in pricing. Meanwhile, they were able to come out and take a look at a roof leak we had (one of the reason we're looking at replacement) and they narrowed down the issue to a roof drainage problem and took care of it quickly and efficiently. So far, my experience working with Shea Roofing has been nothing but stellar. I'll report back when we're done with our roof replacement, but given the high level of service we have received so far, expecting the rest of the project to go as smoothly.
