Came out twice to quote our job (second time was to bring a close but not exact matching tile sample), said he would only do it his way and had zero interest in doing it the way we wanted it done, which is perfectly acceptable based on two other professional quotes we got, both of which were $4000 -$5000 less than J&J, who was $13K. Red flag right there. Refused to work with Lowes tile if I provided it, (a near perfect match!) saying it was inferior tile (not!) After I requested to know why he could not do it the way I wanted it done, just a reasonable explanation was all I expected, he ignored my email. I wrote him again a week later to ask if he got my email and he wrote back he was too busy to schedule us and not taking any new business right now, as if we had never spoken before. Kinda rude, gruff and indifferent to customer satisfaction. His way or the highway. Could care less. His loss and we saved $5K. read more

The service here was exceptional! I called to see if they had a specific tile in stock for my bathroom project. I needed the EXACT tile, otherwise it would be a VERY expensive project re-tiling the whole master bath. Josh immediately confirmed they had my tile and we ordered everything over the phone. It was ready in a few days!! When picking my order up, I told Josh a little more about my project and asked for floor tile recommendations in the shower. He quickly offered me several excellent choices and let me take samples home to show my husband. I called back to confirm the grout color, tile choice, & quartz shower curb. Everything was easily handled over the phone & I picked the rest of my supplies up 2 days later. Especially after the headaches I've received elsewhere, I'm over the moon with J&J!! The owner of this business is rude! Made fun of us as we were wandering the store looking for kitchen backsplash tiles. Their tile prices are not all that great, either. Are pretty much in line with everyone else's. Their labor quotes are ridiculous, though. We found someone to install our backsplash for less than half of what J&J wanted. In addition, J&J exaggerated the amount of miscellaneous materials (grout and side pieces) that were actually needed, according to the gentleman we hired. This guy used about half the amount of materials J&J listed on their quote. Proof was in the leftovers he let us have. For example, where J&J said three buckets of grout were needed, only two were really necessary. They said we needed two silver trim pieces, when in actuality less than one piece did the job. The only positive thing I have to say about them is the vast amount of samples they have to look out. If you want to browse, just try to avoid John Sr (unless you like being insulted!). read more

My wife and I had our Master Bathroom remodeled by the professionals at J&J Tile and Marble this summer (July 2020) since we were stuck in the house during the "Great Pandemic of 2020." First, I'd like to say that we are extremely pleased with the work they have done and would not hesitate to use them again (and will for our kitchen floor next), and I can't recommend them enough to anyone looking to have tile work done anywhere in your home. Timeliness - They arrive on time, every time, every day. We were never left wondering where they were, and/or what they were doing. John gave me a date and time of when they would arrive at our home once we paid our initial deposit and booked the project, and they were there on time the first day and all other days of the project! The pros at J&J are contractors who are on a contract with you and they treat that trust with careful respect of your time and money! Quality - The work they completed was second to none. They installed a waterproofing membrane under the new shower, and a waterproofing epoxy under the tub to prevent any water leakage. The grout lines are all aligned like a military formation throughout the bathroom, showing outstanding attention to detail. Again, we are so pleased with the job that I'd like to move the master bedroom into the bathroom and simply live in there. The pictures just don't do it justice - they did a fantastic job! Price - The price for the entire project wasn't the cheapest of the estimates we researched for our project, but neither was it the most expensive. But for the money, we both agree that they did the best job for our project. Bottom-line - If you need some tile work done in your home, call J&J Tile and Marble. This is how contracting with a company should go. When we first visited their store, we were greeted by a dude (super buff guy, every day is arm day at the gym for him) who was super nice and knowledgeable about jobs as well as tile. We decided to go with them for tiling our whole kitchen, and it has been by-far the most pleasant experience we have had with a contracting company. The guys who came to do the work were on-time, worked tirelessly, were very polite, and cleaned up at the end of each day so that we still had a somewhat-livable space when they were gone. The whole project took 3 consecutive days, and they were very good about cleaning up any mess left over and moving furniture back to where it was located. We have been burned by bad contractors before, but this was definitely a great experience! read more

I will be honest and say that I can't speak to the quality of the work they do. But I was very disappointed with their customer service. I went into the store to ask about some tile work I needed for my home. I was told to "just call back with measurements, and we will do it no problem." However, when I called I was told that they do not do small jobs & that the guy I spoke to "doesn't know what we do here anymore." Definitely poor customer service + makes me not trust their company. We had our master bath completely redone from J&J: shower, floor, and around the tub all tiled; a new vanity put in with a marble top, and paint. J&J is one of the most recommended places in Fredericksburg, and from the moment we walked in, we could feel the professionalism. The crew they sent (Tommy and Bruce) were professional, friendly, courteous - and were absolute master craftsmen. We could not be more pleased with our bathroom. John touched base with us regularly to ensure everything was going well and that we were pleased with the progress throughout the job. We are going to use J&J for our kitchen remodel this summer. I bought tile from J&J about 1 1/2 yrs ago. It was just average. Then a second time I went there for a small job. They could have cared less that I was there. The clerk showed me where the marble was and then left. He was the only one in the store so you would have thought he would have had more interest in helping me. They sell nothing but the best products. I use them for all my tile and installation needs. I ordered over 120 sq/ft of L5 Porcelain tile for my kitchen and installed it myself. The tile is fantastic, it's not at all like the cheap leftovers from Home Depot and Lowe's. I hired them shortly after to come and do my backslash and they did an amazing job, they were flexible on scheduling and the installer was one of the nicest people I have ever met. A family owned business who treat their customers like family too. The prices are competitive! You may pay a bit more than other places but you are also getting significantly better quality. read more

We had a bathroom floor re-tiled, and a natural stone backsplash installed in the kitchen. John came out to the house and helped us choose the tiles for the look we wanted. Work was done quickly, everything cleaned up and amazing job. Later had almost the entire first floor tiled with wood-look porcelain. Top quality workmanship. Grout came out considerably lighter than we had expected. They took our concerns seriously and made it right, even though it meant the installer painstakingly staining all the grout lines by hand. I can't say what the quality of their work is since we never got past the estimate. I had made an estimate appt for 9-10. I had another estimate scheduled from 8-9 to maximize my time off. J&J arrived at 8:50 and was perturbed that someone else was already here. He then just left without telling me a thing. The other guy was done and in his truck by 9am. So if J&J had just waited 10 min for HIS time slot of 9-10. He WOULD have been the only contractor here. I had to call the company to ask if her was coming back. They said they didn't know and would call me back. They didn't. I had to call AGAIN to see if he was going to make his 9-10 appt with me and I was informed that they do not appreciate when other contractors are at the same appt. I explained the above and told him I have the ring video to prove the times stated. He said it didn't matter. SO-Thanks but NO THANKS on another estimate. My time is just as precious as yours. read more

My mother and I inquired with J&J about installing a tile backsplash in my kitchen. We first went to the store in person, spoke to "Big John" and looked at their tile samples. John seemed to have an attitude and was pretty rude to my mother. I'm not sure if he thought he was being funny or cute, but he told her she "has problems". We did find the tile that I loved, which they allowed us to take a sample home and quoted us about $15.99 per square foot. We went ahead and set up a time for them to come to my home, take measurements and quote the labor as well. Meanwhile, we shopped around, but unfortunately weren't able to find anything close to the tile that I liked elsewhere. "Little John", came to the house, measured and sent us a quote of the total price including materials and labor in an email. First of all, he over exaggerated the materials, charged for two strips of schluter (which are 8 feet long each, and I needed about 5 or 6 feet for the whole kitchen), and the labor itself was over $1400 and the tile in the final quote changed from $15.99 to $16.99. We called and asked why the tile price changed and they denied ever telling us that it was anything less than $16.99. Like I said before, they were the only place around that had the tile I liked in stock, so we reluctantly purchased the tile and ONE strip of schluter from them and found someone else to install it. The person we had install the tile needed only about half of the materials they had quoted us for, cost WAY less and did an amazing job. It doesn't seem like J&J really wanted our business, as they were so rude and over charged materials and labor to a ridiculous amount. read more
