My company is based near this restaurant. I stop by once in awhile. I've never had anything that's been gross. The restaurant is always clean and I mean always. It's nice to see a little take out place keep there business very clean, especially with COVID going on still. They are quick to prepare your order and food is always hot and fresh. The interior is nicer, and the menu is just Chinese and some fried chicken, but the food quality is as good or better than Red House. Lunch specials are kind of odd that you get a drink -OR- soup/egg roll. A mom and pop couple that cooks up family recipes, they put love into every meal. They opened when I was a high-school student and I was a friend of their son; the orange chicken they cooked in their house when I slept over, was the exact same chicken I had when I ordered in from J&J's. This is hand's down one of the BEST Chinese places in all of Richmond. The family used to own Red House, and used to know my parents by name, and when they sold it to go back to China we didn't really get Chinese anymore. When they came back, they recognized my father even after all these years! That alone speaks volumes for the care they put into their business. The food is always delicious, though I have noticed the cooks are a little onion happy so keep that in mind when you order fried rice. They deliver quickly and are always so friendly and everything on the menu is top notch and fresh. I always recommend J&J to all my guests at my job and they are never disappointed. I went again and again over the past few months. If you feel bad the soups are a must. They really take pride in it and if you make a face they will come over and ask to see what might be wrong. (Mine was hot and I guess she thought I made a face) They have great fried chicken, the bologna burger is great and well the chinese food is far better than any other place in the area. When I drove from MA to Florida, my wife and I went to this restaurant by GPS guide, the Food is excellent, the best Chinese food we tried during the long driving thousands miles down to sunshine state, especially the hot sour soup----a definitely must try! the best one we met in whole North American ! The service is also very fast, especially the person who take caring charging and delivery, she is always helpful and nice, that's why when we drove back from FL to home, we came there a second time.
