I passed this restaurant several times before finally stopping by. I've ordered a tuna sub, curry chicken, and chicken livers (twice). Both the livers and tuna were salty (for my taste); and the curry chicken had lots of onions and plenty of meat. Servings are reasonable and all items tasted delicious. I go to Red House for the fried wings, shrimp egg rolls, fried rice and sweet&sour sauce. Rice is the indicator of a good Chinese American spot and their rice is inconsistent. Usually it's old and clumpy but when it's freshly made it's delicious. Don't ask for extra duck sauce cause you might get cussed out lol, those ladies don't play bout the sauce. read more

I've been going this place for years. And tonight was the absolutely the WORST food I've had there. I will never order any type of rice from them again. Have the nerve to charge 3.00 extra for beef, shrimp basically any meat in the rice. But the rice is horrible. Rice is not supposed to be clumped together. Like it's been over cooked. If you gonna up charge then at least let it be worth it. Not serving Nasty bland food. And the beef fried rice maybe had a good 4 small slices of beef not worth the money. I learn my lesson NEVER again I'll get my beef fried rice from another restaurant. Very disappointing!! read more

We have never had a bad meal here and really like the delivery option. The Dessert Pies are awesome. All are rich and delicious.

Yesterday was the last time I will eat at Red House. The quality of the food has gone down and the prices have gone up.

It is local Chinese restaurant running for some years. Serving tranditional American Chinese dishes, and very simple and easy setup with just 4 tables. Most customers there are local folks. I have been regular there for more than 20 years. Even now I live in northern Virginia, I am trying to make the trip there for the dishes and the folks. I love the fried chicken it is with very original fried chicken style inold time and very reasonable price. Just love it and I keep coming back. read more

I used to come here all the time as a child. I'm glad to know this resturant is still open! Red House isn't much to look at from the outside, but I was pleasantly surprised at the menu offerings and intrigued by the American offerings too. The Staff was very attentive from the start. My thoughts - I decided to order some stuff on their menu. I've tried the cheese cake dish(SO GOOD). The fried chicken - was too die for. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant that makes CRISPY fried chicken. The fried rice and egg rolls were fabulous. Their fries - are actually really good. Didn't expect much but it was piping hot and delicious. For like less than 3 bucks, you get like a X-large portion of fries. It is still the best combination of Chinese/American restaurant. LOOKS HORRIBLE ON THE OUTSIDE, but don't let the cover full ya. Had a taste for some fried chicken wings and went here. Got two order and they gave me 10 hot, delightful full wings. YUMMY! This might be the worst looking place to eat in the world, but the food is surprisingly good. Great lunch specials, and overall some really good food. You just have to get past the exterior of the place. So let's do the cons first: 1) Bad part of Town 2) Horrible place to eat-in 3) Icky Now let's move on to the good 1) You can get Chinese Food, seafood, subs, fried chicken, pizza, etc... all at this one spot 2) Chinese food is really good 3) Fried Chicken is pretty good 4) Subs are pretty good 5) Cheap lunch specials Have not tried seafood or pizza there. Yummy yummy yummy!!!! I am so happy that you can place your order not just over the phone now, but online!!! Being as paranoid as I am about placing an online order through a site I wasn't sure would even submit the order to them properly, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from the restaurant about 3 minutes after placing the order to confirm that they received it and that I meant it to go to their location. We've been here a couple of times for take out, but always just went there and placed our order at the corner. We order a fairly odd mix of stuff to satisfy my craving for their delicious orange chicken, plain fried rice w egg and NO bean sprouts, and....french fries....heehee. I am a big big BIG fan of orange chicken and like it to be prepared in a very particular way and they do it perfectly! Nice and crispy white meat! I was very disappointed with the service. I ordered 2 orders of wings and rice. I noticed other customers had came in, ordered and left with their food after I ordered mines. When I asked the cashier about how long it would be for my order, she said they're working on it. I know she actually forgot about my order. She seemed unapologetic. Just got the Chicken Fried Rice as a take out. It was awful! Large chunks of uncooked onion and sprouts were the only vegetables( a tiny few green onion is noticeable). The golden orange colored rice was coated in an unknown flavored grease. I have never had another CFR that even resembled the terrible flavor. read more

After reading all of the hopeful reviews, my bf and I decided to try Red House. I was hoping it would be good because I live down the stretch and I love Chinese food (and pizza, etc.) I ordered the red crab rangoon, 2pc chicken dinner which includes a wing, breast, roll, "cole slaw", and whipped potatoes with gravy, and my bf had the sesame chicken with steamed rice. I was really hopeful for this place, but it was VERY dissapointing. I hate to say it, but it was some of the worst Chinese food and fried chicken I've ever had! The best part was the chicken wing. The next most passable item was the rangoon, which were just tiny remnants of imitation crab and cream cheese wrapped in chewy wonton wrappers and deep fried. The red sauce was too ketchupy, which furthered my sadness. The sides on the chicken dinner are better left off. the roll is store bought and smushed inside with some cole slaw, which looks awful, but doesn't taste as bad as it looks leading me to believe that it might actually be homemade. The potatoes are okay, but they're smothered in a gravy which tastes strange. it tastes like french onion soup mix or something and not a brown gravy. Like I said the wing was good but my chicken breast was horrid! The skin was ass hanging off in one piece ( which was like a yummy chiccharone, but still) the breast must have been cut wrong because there was absolutely no meat, just a few strips of meat that was too fried to even eat. THE WORST PART: my bf's "sesame chicken" was disgusting to say the least. Out of all the sketchy gas station, strip mall, and food court Chinese food I've had in my life this was definitely the worst. The sauce tasted exatcly ike BBQ and nothing like sesame. The bits of chicken were minescule and poor quality dark meat, and worse yet they were encompassed in massive amounts of spongy breading. It was soggy and unpalatable. At around $18 for this mess we received, this place is no bargain either, also they didn't include any fortune cookies, what gives? read more
