However, I as I was nearing Madison, I decided to pull off the freeway in Madison at a place where there's a Cousin's and a Walgreen's right across from each other as I wanted both, and I saw this place nearby. I pulled in and they were sympathetic to my situation. They got me in immediately and made sure all of my tires were at the proper PSI (and yes, I had overfilled a couple). I was back on the road in no time and made it to Minneapolis without issues. The peace of mind was well worth the $5.00 they charged me. I wish I hadn't just filled up or I would have gotten gas, too.

After asking friends and neighbors with no luck I turned to Yelp and saw the great reviews for Monona Motors. I had seen this place dozens of times on walks and bike rides - it is just a mile away so I thought I would give them a try. It is a tiny place so it is hard to get into but I was not in a rush - two weeks out was OK. Greg and the guys were really friendly and straightforward in helping to figure out what was wrong. They only fixed what was wrong and did so in a cost effective way. They also discovered a very rusted out part that needed replacing in order to replace a rocker arm (I saw the old one - wow I am lucky it didn't fall apart). They tried getting the part from Nissan but due to pandemic supply chain issues it was not available but they found one from the South on Ebay for a quarter of the price of new. It was in great shape (no salt used down there). I like their initiative in trying Ebay for the part. I brought the car back for this additional work. It was done quickly and for the price quoted. So far so good with both the brake job and the front end work - and I am sure I saved a ton of $ going to these guys. I am glad I found them on Yelp!

Took it in to the mechanic my family trusts just to be safe and thank god I did because there was ALOT of $$$ problems with it :(( leaking transmission, missing antenna, radio not working, air conditioning not getting cold enough, leaking sealant, just to name a few. My family thinks I've dodged a bullet, and it sounds like the mechanic was very through when they went through with it. It took about 2 hours and ran me about $200~ but saved me what would've been thousands in damages. The man at his desk (Larry) who I believe was the one who did the maintenance check was very nice to us even though we were almost half an hour late to our appointment initially, I was extremely apologetic and he didn't seem to mind at all.(again, very sorry about that) They even spoke to my family and recommended a dealership for us to try (didn't seem like a money grab, wasn't on a business card they wrote it on the back of a blank piece of paper in pen) so hopefully my car hunting goes better....
