Hilton Garden Inn Cleveland East/Mayfield Village - Guest room

We reserved this hotel for Saturday, March 28 through Monday, March 30. Upon arrival, the room was…read morein unacceptable condition and did not resemble the photos advertised online. The bedding had large black stains and what appeared to be a blood stain. When I contacted the front desk to request clean linens, I was told they did not have access to housekeeping supplies. We were then moved to a different room. The second room was in even worse condition--outdated, visibly dirty, and still not representative of what was advertised. At that point, the hotel was fully booked, and we were unable to be relocated again. During the night, the fire alarms sounded and guests were evacuated. There was significant confusion, with multiple fire trucks and an ambulance on scene, and no staff available to provide direction for an extended period. We were later informed there had been a water main break, and water was actively pouring from the ceiling, flooding the hotel. The following morning, around 10:30 AM, we were finally able to speak with an assistant manager who confirmed the water had been shut off and that all guests would need to vacate the property. Although the hotel later agreed to issue a refund, they are charging 50% for the first night. Which was the night of the fire alarm/flood! Given the condition of the room upon arrival, the lack of basic accommodations, and the subsequent emergency evacuation and displacement, I do not believe any charge for that stay is justified. As a result, we were forced to secure last-minute accommodations elsewhere, incurring additional costs, including a higher room rate and parking fees. This situation significantly disrupted and ultimately ruined our weekend.

As someone that stays about 50 nights a year in hotels for business (probably a similar number on…read morevacation) I generally don't go to the trouble of reviewing them unless they are exceptionally good or bad. Unfortunately this one falls on the bad side of things. Hotel is very dated. Wall controls for hvac are powered up but broken. HVAC controls on the wall unit had a broken lid. TV was one of smallest flat screen tv's I have seen in a major hotel chain in 10+ years (probably a 32-34in). Looking at channel list about 1/4 of channels and were not directly available but some could be accessed if you tried to directly enter the channel number in the remote. The person running the desk had no idea how to improve the situation and nobody he could ask.... The light fixtures in the bathroom were totally covered in rust and all 6 of the pillows from both beds were past tired and due for replacement. The beds were ok but the metal box frames they are on squeak with any movement. If I were staying at a Super 8 by the lake I'd expect this sort of mess but not at a Hilton Garden. Shame on Hilton and shame on management. One last thing, yes I could have asked for a different room (roll the dice and hope for improvement) but I was already unpacked and staying only 1 night.

I gave the Motel 6 a 5-star rating because this was a surprisingly great value and it far exceeded…read moremy expectations for a budget motel. Out of the two budget motels in this area, this is, by FAR the nicest. I wish I had discovered the Motel 6 first and booked it before booking the other place down the street the night before--HUGE difference! The first thing I noticed when I checked-in was the scent of the lobby. Crazy, I know, but it smelled so nice and inviting. The young woman at the desk was professional and very pleasant (not gushy and cheesy, but just very welcoming). The hallways were clean and my room was spotless. The accommodations were simple, with bare faux wood flooring, but the room felt updated and in excellent condition. My sheets and bedding smelled very fresh and the bed itself was quite comfortable. The bathroom was just the right size and didn't feel cramped. I was very surprised at the cleanliness, comfort, and overall value of this budget hotel. I had very low expectations and left quite happy with my overnight stay.

If I could give them zero stars, I would. They've changed the name of this motel to Willow Lodge. I…read morebooked a room through Travelocity and we showed up at 11:30 pm. Payment due upon arrival. We arrived and the front desk guy says " you're reservation was canceled ". Why? "Bc your cc was declined". First of all, that's impossible. There would be no reason for any of my ccs to decline. Second, it's a pay upon arrival. What we figured out is they canceled our reservation bc the Morgan Wallen concert was happening and the hotel decided to cancel our reservation so they could open it up and charge concert goers more money for the room. I had read the reviews so I knew it wasn't going to be a Four Seasons but the property is in decline and not clean. If the lobby was in complete disarray I can only imagine what the rooms look like. Anyways, we definitely dodged a bullet. Found a way nicer place down the road.

My son booked a stay at this hotel. The conditions of this hotel were deplorable! It was so dirty!…read moreUpon check-in, there were used condoms and trash in the toilet, garbage on the floor, urine on the floor around the toilet, stains on the wall, and while the bed was made, it looked as though someone had laid in it. Not to mention, it appeared not to be a very safe area. He left immediately to try to find a new hotel. I called the establishment and was on hold for over 30 minutes before they answered. The gentleman I spoke to was very rude and kept yelling at me and eventually hung up on me. I just wanted him to cancel the reservation as it was for a full week. Based on the way he was speaking to me, I did not want my son returning to the property. DO NOT STAY HERE!! I would give zero stars if that was an option.

The ad for this hotel is completely misleading with appearance and accommodations. If I could give…read morea negative -5 stars I would. They advertise a nice pool, free continental breakfast, snack store and clean environment. None of these are available and all of the guest have to put down $100, cash only, upon check in. It is the most disgusting hotel ever. I can't believe the Choice Hotel chain allows this location to do business under their name and good reputation. I had to look at 5 rooms in this place trying to get an acceptable room, the manager got rude. The room we ended up with was disgusting. It had leftover food in the fridge, filthy microwave, rotting ceiling, disgusting walls, used Vaseline behind the microwave, filthy coffee machine with no cups and used packets on the tray, old clothing under the sink in the bathroom, exposed cables, stained carpets, dirty blankets and smelled bad. There were fights in the hallway at 5am and on top of all this they had men checking in the hotel in groups and women trailing through to their rooms the cops there 2 nights in a row. Unfortunately our rooms were prepaid with no refunds.

The bathtub stopper was pulled out and when I tried to fix it, it doesn't hold the water. The grout around the tub has just a tiny bit of mold. The room is spacious with a Keurig, microwave and refrigerator. There are adjoining rooms, hooks for coats, Dove products, nice size closet and bathroom. The bedding is clean. Ample parking, handicapped friendly. There's a restaurant in the hotel that was very busy. It had the Italian desserts from my youth. The rooms are not that quiet, the adjoining room next to me is not soundproof, there is a very loud TV, and a lot of people talking loudly. The outside of the building is appealing. Breakfast is 6:30-9:30 in the restaurant and is included in the room price. You can charge the room for your restaurant purchases for lunch and dinner. The hotel staff at the front desk was very nice to work with and looked professional instead of slovenly dressed and not caring about their customers attitude. I would stay here again if I came this way, but hoping that the room next door to me was quieter, lol

The room was fantastic and the housekeeping staff did a wonderful job each and every day! I'll most certainly stay here again. With that said, there is an issue with some of the misconceptions about this hotel which come mainly with the photos here on Google. #1 - There is NO pool! Don't look at the professional photo of the indoor pool and think this location has one, it does not! #2 - The outdoor seating does NOT belong to the hotel. It belongs to the restaurant on the first floor. If you go out that back spreading from the ground floor hotel side, there is no way back in when the restaurant is closed! You have to walk all the way around the building to get back in. There's not even an exterior door handle on the door. So, just be aware if you're booking for a pool and the outdoor seating looks appealing, then you'll be disappointed. Several of us were when we found out there wasn't a pool. Would I still stay here again...for sure! Would I recommend this hotel...for sure!
