Stayed overnight in a jacuzzi room with my husband for our anniversary and this place was great!…read moreThe hotel and rooms have been recently renovated, making it look clean and contemporary. It's located close to the highway, food/gas and a UH medical center. There is a McDonald's next door with ample parking for RV's and other big rigs. The area was fairly quiet, just off the main drag with little highway noise. We did not use the pool but it looked nice. The breakfast included was nothing fancy (served 6-10am daily) but a decent selection of coffee/juices, pastries, hot/cold cereals, yogurts, waffle maker, eggs and tasty bacon. The dining area had cozy seating, a tv, was exceptionally clean and well stocked by a friendly attendant. In fact all the staff were pleasant, helpful and very accommodating. They do allow pets for a small fee and have a small area to walk them adjacent to the side of the hotel. As well as an outdoor table and grill. When we were there on a Sunday some gentleman had a fire going while listening to the Browns game. The jacuzzi in our room was a great size for two, hot, plenty of bubbly jets, glass holders and very clean. The room was tidy, spacious, nicely decorated, included a microwave, safe, coffee maker, plus a good sized and well-cooled fridge. The heater/AC/fan in our room worked perfectly and the tv was new and placed well. Plenty of lights, Wi-Fi, plugs and USB connections too. For a not too far from home special night away or a well needed rest from your travels we definitely recommend this hotel.

This place was super accommodating and welcoming. They reassured us that they would put in a request to have the room ready before check-in and they did just that. When we arrived, check-in was easy and smooth. The room was ready and all the amenities were fully stocked. The bed was super comfy and bathroom was clean. We also had their complementary morning breakfast which was really good and had plenty of options. Overall, our stay was great, the staff was really nice, and would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in this area.

This Hotel Gets an A+ For Friendliness…read more This is not a fancy hotel (in fact it may be a little dated) however it is clean and every person we had contact with was super friendly. There is not much in the way of fancy hotels in the Mentor or Painesville area. My husband has family in the area so we visited a different hotel last time we visited which I reviewed and believe this hotel is a much better choice for the area, maybe even the best choice however I have not visited every hotel in the area. We drove up from North Carolina and had to use the restroom as soon as we arrived as there was not a rest area for at least the last hour of the drive so we needed to run in to "take care of business" first. The tall gentleman at the desk pointed us to the rest rooms in the lobby which was my first experience with the hotel. While the hotel is not fancy I could immediately see that someone took the time to make nice little "homey" touches. These nice "homey" touches" are evident throughout the hotel. And it was very clean as well. Great first impression before check-in. Since we drove straight through, my husband wanted to take a walk after sitting for so long. So after the short and friendly check-in process was completed (by the same tall gentleman) my husband made inquiries about a walk. The man suggested a very short walk (I did not track it but it was probably a half mile) to the James A Garfield National Historic Site which was a very nice museum for the 20th president. I recommend visiting the museum if you visit the area. I learned a lot. After the walk, we ate in the onsite restaurant, Skye, which was very nice. I will probably write a separate review for that however I would like to say it was a very pleasant surprise. The same restaurant also provides room service which we did not need on this trip since it was just an overnight trip. The restaurant is also popular with locals and can get busy I understand. They also provided a nice continental breakfast in the morning which also included scrambled eggs and sausages. I happen to enjoy especially fancy breakfasts downtown in our hometown so it is difficult for me to rate a continental breakfast objectively. The room was clean and even had the luggage racks out and setup. Our room had a small refrigerator which I always consider a plus. Though it is located on a highway, our room which was even on the first floor was very quiet (I should add I wear ear plugs because I find hotel room units to sometimes be very loud). Negatives? Well it is not a fancy hotel so keeping that in mind, the only "negatives" would be some possibly outdated info I found in the binder at the desk in the room. For instance it said there was not a restaurant on site. But on top of the desk it provides info about the onsite restaurant. The management may want to take a look at the binders to make certain it is current. Bottom Line: The room rate was a great value for what we received.

We had a one night stay as we continued on our road trip. Very nice staff. In fact, I had some…read morebirthday cards to mail and the gentleman at the desk he would mail them for me. The room was very comfortable with 2 queen beds. Breakfast was a typical hotel spread BUT the usage of real plates and silverware made it extra special. The hotel gives off a bit of a "dated" vibe, but it's clean, friendly and very doable.

In brief, this is a 'No-Frills' extended stay hotel, and I only had minor issues. Those issues have…read moreto do with the censored, NON-wifi internet and emotionless staff. The hotel is geared for long-term (i.e. extended) stay traveler/guests. You have to pay by the week and not by the day. They charge a very reasonable weekly rate (b'tween $219-$269) depending on the time of year and room type (3 types). I stayed in the low end studio. The rates are only for the room. Even though they have stoves and are extended stay, and unlike say their competitor ExtendedStay America, they don't have cooking pans, dishes, drinking items or utensils. You can get them for a one time payment of $30. That comes with 2 glasses, utensils, dishes and a frying pan and sauce pan (with cleaning towels). You also must pay extra for 'unlimited' clean towels and linens. What that means is, since the hotel only supplies your room with 2 bath towels, 2 wash clothes (also a bath mat) and bed linens, once you use them, you can switch out at cost (forgot that cost). But if pay $10 per week, you can switch multiple times within a week. It also includes unlimited toilet paper. The internet is also extra (surprise, surprise) at $10 per week. It was a DSL cable, NOT wi-fi (but my last week on August 12th, they added wi-fi). It is okay, but they have managed to censor it from porn sites and sites that are torrent related. And any censoring is bad in my eyes. Other issues are the staff doesn't seem that friendly. That is not a total negative, but a smile and a hello every once in blue moon would have been nice. I did have an issue with my air conditioner where it would shut down for no reason and maintenance had no clue what to do. The unit gave a code of 'Br', so I looked it up on the internet. It was a breaker issue. I made a copy of the manual code page for the maintenance person and he did nothing. I managed to keep it working by occasional unplugging it and replugging it and it would keep working. So maintenance is a negative. It was a clean place, nice simple clean rooms, nice laundry room, working elevator and good location to everything (restaurants, roads, Cleveland). For the price, even with the extra costs, is good. If you want nicer and pricer, there is a Residence Inn next door, but if you are on a budget, nothing comes close to Value Place prices.

It's hard to put my finger on the worst part, could be the crack heads which hang around outside. Or it could be the toe nails on the bathroom floor, or the body hair that was already in the bed. Might be the shower that wouldn't drain, or the fact that no one is ever at the cashiers window. Notice that I didn't say lobby, or even desk. It's literally a window which is closed for a good portion of the night, so forget about trying to check in late at night. I could go on but instead I'll just recommend you avoid this place.
