I have been a customer for six years. Mike is an excellent tech, and J&M has always done good work at reasonable (not cheap, but reasonable) prices. Up until last week, that is. A compressor in our refrigerator needed replacing. We were given a ballpark estimate, said go ahead and order the parts, then a final (higher) quote for the job over the phone (explanation: "The parts cost more"). The parts came, the work was done, and the bill paid. Only when I saw the invoice (e-mailed later) did I hit the ceiling: the labor charge on the repair, a four-hour job, was $1200! I called and spoke with the office manager, who said I should have asked for a detailed breakdown of the charges before agreeing to the work. That's what the job cost, she said, never mind how much time it took or didn't take. It was my fault for not seeking clarification before hand. I came away feeling very underappreciated as a customer, especially after six years. Bottom line: if you hire J&M to do a job, make sure you understand IN ADVANCE what you will be paying for. I will take that advice to heart next time I need a repair, but I don't think I'll be calling J&M. read more

I had excellent customer service with J & M Appliance. Starting with my phone call to schedule service, they were very nice, professional and organized! Next, the repair person Miguel came to my house and was very professional and considerate. He listened to my concerns about the freezer, he completely looked at the whole freezer explained the parts he was ordering. Within a week, the parts arrived. I received a call to schedule a followup appointment. Miguel returned, fixed everything, had me test it. The absolutely best service and repair I have received in a long time! J&M Appliance charged me $149 for a service call for one burner on a 10-yr old GE stovetop that was sparking and said they couldn't repair it (said part discontinued) and when I gave authorization for them to replace the entire stovetop with a new model, they couldn't do that either! My property manager called another company to replace the stovetop and asked J&M to reduce the fee they charged me but they wouldn't. I can see applying a service call to a repair or replacement but think it is a rip off for them to charge so much for something they couldn't fix or replace. read more

Tristan in parts said motor under warranty and I could get from LG. Appreciated the tip saving me cost of motor. J&M did not charge me labor to install the motor when it was finally approved by LG. Service tech came to the house to look @ my frig. Had a leak where the water filter is. He spent 5 minutes & told me to buy a new filter from the manufacturer. When I told them it was the filter from the manufacturer, he said I needed a new part. My son in law comes to the house & plays with the filter, & what do you know everything fine now. Very poor service. We were referred to these amateurs by our home insurers. How they are endorsed by Whirlpool, I do not know. The power button on our washer had broken, and this was the drama that ensued: * 1st Technician came, said it was virtually a write-off. * 2nd technician came, said of course it wasn't a write-off, we just needed one part, which would solve everything * 3rd technician came, said the wrong part had been ordered and left us with a couple of cocktail sticks to turn on an electrical device(!!). * 3rd technician came back, said the new part had been in the van all day, LCD display had melted in the heat and it probably wouldn't display properly. Told us that if it hadn't settled down in a day or so, to call the office and they'd get a new one right out. * It didn't settle down, so we called the office, who said the claim had been closed and we had to now go back to the manufacturer (despite admitting they'd messed up). What's the point? Terrible company who provide poor service, don't solve an issue, don't generally give a damn and still get paid! read more

We were assigned this company through our warranty company. It took much much longer than it should have to complete the work. I went ahead and excused it for Covid issues, but who really knows. My issue is, firstly, the door that they brought for our microwave that was to be replaced had a tiny dent in the front. I chose to overlook that, which was stupid of me. I just wanted our microwave fixed, and I minimized the issue. The technician that did the installation, asked me if everything looked good. Obviously, I don't have a trained eye as to what to look for. As far as I could see everything looked fine aside from the dent. Little did I know, that he had installed a broken door. At first it appeared to work OK, but then it would sometimes not work. We tried to figure out what the issue was and eventually we realized that one of the parts was cracked that connects the microwave door to the microwave to start it. I called and left messages with them, only to have no response. By the time I called back my warranty company, it was passed the period of time where I was allowed to have them come back. I was trying to be nice and not cause trouble for them with the warranty company, and I got bit in the butt. Do not use these guys. The guy knew it was broken and he was counting on me not realizing it. They are super shady, unreliable, and don't return calls when they do make a mistake. If you get them assigned to your warranty claim, you can call the warranty company and ask for a different business. Now we are requesting another service, and we have made it very clear that they are not allowed in our home. Avoid the problem and the expense and choose someone else. read more

I had excellent customer service with J & M Appliance. From my first interaction with them after they were assigned by my Home Warranty company. They were very helpful, professional and organized! The repair person was Tom, who came to my house and was very professional and considerate. He listened as I told him about the issue I was having with my refrigerator, he identified the issue quickly, and took some action to help with the issue until the part that was needed could be ordered and installed. Once my home warranty company approved the claim the parts were ordered and received in a couple of days. As soon as the parts came in, an appt was made for Tom to return to complete the repair. I bought a Whirlpool washer from Lowes. The next day it was installed, and wouldn't spin the clothes. I went on Whirlpool's website and scheduled an appointment with their certified tech (J&M). They showed an availability of 8-12, and I scheduled it. 2 hours later J&M called to let me know they are no longer able to come at that time, and pushed me to the 6th customer of the day, between 12-4. They also informed me my washer wasn't under warranty, and that I would have to pay out of pocket. What? I just bought it yesterday. They asked that I scan and send the receipt, which I did. The customer service person was very rude and short about everything. I emailed the receipt, but they never let me know if it would be covered or not before they sent the tech. It made me very nervous that I was about to get hosed. The technician came 10 minutes before I had to go pick up kids from school. Luckily it was an easy fix (the bottom of the washer motor was stuck on the drip pan). Mr. Steve the technician was professional and knowledgeable. $0 charge. I purchased a Whirlpool gas stove. My dog and I started getting sick. I was getting bad headaches and dizziness. My dog was having siezures which she had never had before. I took her to the Vet and it cost me $369 for bloodwork and urine test. I decided to call The Gas Company to check out the stove since all the problems started right after I got it. The Gas man tested it out and said the stove was no good. He said the burners and the oven are emitting carbon monoxide. The Gas man red tagged it and said do not use it. I called J & M Appliance and told them what happened. They picked up the stove yesterday and refunded my money. Not too happy that they had something so dangerous like this on the floor for purchase. Bob came out and diagnosed the problem in minutes which another company completely failed to do. It took a while to get a whole freezer door to me but I was constantly updated and felt like I had not fallen through the cracks. It's important the customer knows you have not forgotten them. Today Tom installed the new door! Not only was he efficient and professional but absolutely loved his sunny disposition. Customer service started off great. Technician came out and repaired my ice maker which wasn't creating crushed ice as part of my Lowe's warranty. Immediately I was satisfied and thankful and they replaced the entire ice making unit. HOWEVER, unbeknownst to me, the item they installed has been having a slow leak, causing ice buildup. This is a much worse problem than I had before! I noticed this 2.5 months after their service. Expecting full customer service, I called and spoke with the manager. I was repeatedly told they would not send a technician to fix the issue they created, without me paying additional fees. The manager refused to respond to the issue and repeatedly told me she would not assist without the $119 response fee. Her only explanation was it was past their 30 day warranty. I understand policies but when it's only 1.5 months past that, and I have evidence their equipment is faulty, you would think customer service would kick in. It didn't. This place is only about their contracts and receiving cash. DO NOT GO HERE. Ask your company for a different service company! Oh. And I was told posting this was a "threat". The tech that came to my house to fix my 2 year old $3000 refrigerator was great and extremely informative, minus the fact that while he fixed the cooling situation, now I do not have any ice being made. So I called today (4 days after the tech told me to wait) to let them know that the job still isnt finished and I need my ice maker. They told me I had to go back and tell my extended warranty company. The same company that put me off for a month before my special needs diet child could actually have his food stored in my fridge again. Why do I have to file another claim? Why make me go through this process again? To the tech (I think his name was Brian... thank you). Most dishonest business practice. The technician charged $99 for service call on a microwave with no power. J@M came back with estimate of $400 ($160 for service and $240 for parts). I was told they needed to replace a fuse and 4 other parts. I ended up replacing the fuse myself for $5 and problem solved. read more

His findings clear and fixed the issues. he also explained to me the reasons why the fridge collects the water on the bottom tray. Eddie also noticed my fridge slide when ever the door open. Upon arrival, I asked the tech if he can wear shoe covers before entering my house because my father just got home from surgery and I'm trying to keep the house clean. The tech said that it's their COMPANY'S POLICY TO NOT WEAR SHOE PROTECTORS INSIDE THE CUSTOMERS HOUSE. Then, I called his company to confirm it and I was transferred to a woman who did confirm that it is their company's policy to not wear shoe covers when entering customers house. What I don't get is that why it would be against a company's policy to protect the customers property? In this case with everything going on, a lot more people are taking extra precaution and company's servicing people's homes should also be extra careful. One of the worst companies to deal with!! So unprofessional! This is the company that Lowe's scheduled us with for a repair of our washer and our ice maker in our refrigerator. We were scheduled today from 8a-12p and at 12:10pm we have heard nothing and nobody has shown up. Mind you, they did this last time as well, but again we have no choice because that is who Lowe's booked us with. When I called today they told me that "it was Lowe's fault and that they changed their system and they don't know why they booked us because they have been booked a week out." I told her it was scheduled over a week ago. Then the rude lady states, "Oh we have been out for your washer before so we will not be coming again because there is nothing they can do for us." WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY I REQUESTED A SERVICE CALL!!!!! The problem is still an issue and it was actually one of their technicians who advised us to continue to keep calling for service until they replace it because there is nothing else they can do. But now they are refusing to come out at all with no call or anything. I asked what about my ice maker and no showing for that today. Her reply "well, again, you should speak to Lowe's about that, it's in your best interest to have them repaired at the same time!!" So basically I take off a half day of work with no phone call or anything! I have no problem if they don't want to come out, but give us a call and don't try and blame Lowe's for your unprofessionalism. Can't be nothing else than pleased with J&M. I had Electrolux ( Frigidaire ) send them over to repair an appliance and from the very first moment they were very polite and professional. Steve was the technician that came to my home and I must say not only was he on time both times but he also explained everything very thoroughly. J&M has this useful feature in which you can track the technician therefore giving you a very accurate estimated arrival time. Very poor communication between tech and their own company. We have two washers and two dryers at our property. The tech came to service and couldn't repair. They charged us for two service calls. Someone told us to try J&M So we did full knowing the $139 service call would apply to parts and labor to repair our LG washer. The tech came out and diagnosed it as a $82 valve problem that needed to be ordered it took 4 days for them to say it was in and another week before they said they could return to install it WELL OK down time almost 2 weeks The tech came back and installed it and the total Came to $318 ... Not being a math wizard I was able to figure the LABOR for the rep being here for only a few minutes over an hour including removal and installment was Approx $236 . when I questioned the office their response was they go by a BLUE BOOK ...Blue Book or not $236 per hour is pretty steep labor......On their behalf the tech Roxanne was professional and complete but Im still Calling Sears Next Repair read more

This is a great company. They work well with their customers. I had a refrigerator that lost it's compressor/condenser. It was going to be very costly to repair. Linda and her team worked with the manufacturer and it was about half the estimate. This may have taken a little bit longer to get the unit repaired, but it is appreciated they took the time to help.
