My frustration has nothing to do with the quality of the work or even necessarily the $250 price. It's about how the entire situation was handled. One of the reasons I contacted this company was because they advertise a free estimate. To me, that means someone comes out, looks at the issue, tells me what it will cost, and then I have the opportunity to decide whether I want to authorize the work. That did not happen. The technician came in, asked what was going on, grabbed our own plunger, and started working on the toilet. Within a short time, he got the clog loose. At no point beforehand was I told, "This service will be $250. Would you like me to proceed?" I wasn't given an estimate, I didn't sign anything authorizing the work, and I wasn't told what I would be charged until after the work had already been done. Had he simply said, "I'm going to try plunging it, and if that clears it, the charge will be $250. Is that okay?" then I could have made that decision myself. If I agreed, then absolutely, charge me the $250. That's not the issue. The issue is advertising a free estimate and then beginning billable work before actually providing that estimate or getting approval from the customer. Once the work is already completed, the customer really doesn't have a choice anymore. I specifically chose this company because I got the impression they cared about taking care of people and weren't going to treat every interaction as just another transaction. Unfortunately, that isn't how this experience felt. Again, I appreciate that the toilet was fixed, and the technician did accomplish what we needed. I just wish there had been more transparency, communication, and consideration before the work was performed. A simple explanation of the cost and asking for my authorization beforehand would have made this an entirely different review.

Original person was not responsive. A friend recommended G&M. He discovered that he installed the gasket away from the drain instead of at the joint, and that's why it was leaking. If you want something done right....do it yourself!…read more Paid Erickson Septic Service $1700 to put in a new lift station pump a little over a year ago. After the tech left, I plugged in my old pump to troubleshoot it. Turned out my pump wasn't even bad! It worked just fine! The only problem was the electrical connection in the sump hole. Fast forward to today. Circuit breaker tripped and wouldn't reset. I removed the lid and pumped the water out to find the plug was water logged and shorted out. The problem is, since it is below ground, they were supposed to put it in a waterproof box! I called Erickson to give them the chance to correct the inferior plug installation and they told me they didn't want the chance and pretty much tough luck. So, I paid $1700 for a pump I didn't need and a bad plug installation that failed. Way to go Erickson! I guess I will fix your mistake now.

The water heater and installation was covered by my home warranty contract less the $100 deductible. However they charged an extra $400 for a permit and pipe modifications which are not covered by my policy. I am a contractor myself and the plumbing contractors I normally use ido better work for the money and would have brought the installation up to current code and installed an expansion tank to the water line. But they did not install the expansion tank. They charged an extra $400 for two flex hoses which should have been part of a normal water heater install. I did not think the inspection would pass but they must have the City of Columbus Inspector in their pocket because their mediocre installation passed. I felt ripped off. I will have to hire my usual plumber to correct this install as they were unwilling to do anything to address my concerns. See what they installed versus what I was expecting and used to.
