I asked for acrylic toenails and this was hands down the worst nail job I have ever gotten. My toenails literally look like chiclets; thick, bulky, uneven, and completely unnatural. On top of how bad they look, they hurt, to the point where it feels like I have ingrown toenails on multiple toes. Acrylics should never be painful, and they definitely shouldn't look like this. I'm extremely disappointed and won't be coming back. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for quality or comfort. read more

Hue is by the best nail technician I have ever had. Not only was she so very nice, but she definitely made me feel comfortable and made sure I had everything I needed. The second I sat down she pulled out a charger for my cell phone and made sure I was warm enough. Her attention to detail was none like I have ever seen. She made it a point to not file my nails down too much because they were already very thin. She also was able to make my nails more coffin shaped, because the past two nail techs made them a tad bit too skinny for my liking (they were more stiletto shape which makes me feel like a witch). The salon is not that fancy and there are really no frills. I didn't see how the tools were sterilized, but I am sure they were fine. Nope. Went here for a pedicure after having not been here for quite some time. While they took me quickly, the dude clearly seemed like an amateur. He filed my nails down way too close to the skin and the massage was way too rough. I sat and dried my toes under the dryer while he awkwardly sat next to me. It was almost like I was overstaying my welcome. He finally handed me the bill - I paid and tipped - and asked multiple times - is this dry? Are you sure it's dry enough? He kept saying yes. I put on my super thin socks and slip-on shoes and walked out. When I got home, the thin sock material was stuck to the polish and most of it is smudged or has come off completely. At first I liked this place but then after my last visit (which is my third time), I do not think I will. Not only did Jenny not give me the color and design I wanted after multiple tries of letting her know, my nail fell off on Saturday when I got it done on Tuesday which I am not used to because they last normally two weeks. I contacted her and there was no response. I went here because it was convenient. But for $75 for these nails (not including tip) for it to fall off within 5 days and not get any sort of help from her says a lot. And overall I was never really that happy with my nails because there were always flaws. I used to go to Fuschiabeauty lounge in Jackson heights. They were pretty good but I live far now. WOW! So happy to have yet another solid neighborhood nail salon option. This one might be my favorite in the Ridgewood area yet! I did another quick search on Yelp when I needed to get my nails done yesterday and came across J & W. They have a lot of pedicure and manicure stations and a lot of staff. They got me in rather quickly with minimal wait. Jenny did both my pedicure and manicure. Her massages were a little rough but I let her know and she corrected it immediately. She was also so efficient and did a great job. This was probably the fastest powder manicure I have ever gotten and it is one of the best. She did this all while answering the phone, seating people that walked in, and my nails look EXCELLENT. The place was nice, l got a gel pedicure which was really good 10/10 the lady was amazing. They do not have a great selection for gel polish. After this lady that is right in front from the pedicure chair 1 came up to me to do my nails from the beginning she had a attitude and all of my nails were different shapes. l informed her l didn't like them and she continued l was originally supposed to get a really cute glitter look. That was posted to their instagram!!!! My nails were all different shapes. l told her to just leave them with the acrylic being nice and that l would pay. MIND YOU she wants to say. $30 for these unfiled plain acrylic nails l proceeded to tell her to take them off because they looked terrible and l was going to go to another salon and she said they don't do that. l asked for the owner who took over and did my nails. The only reason l don't give this place 1 star is because the owner was very nice but mind you l still had to pay $40 for my acrylic when l had to wait there 2 hours and waste time with the first lady who clearly does not do acrylics. I usually get my nails done here. I find that the services have definitely changed since COVID. The last 3 times I came here only once was my temperature taken and twice the use of hand sanitizer at the door. It seems that it depends on how busy they are.I made an appointment each time only to find out they still take walk ins. I am very dissatisfied with the service today. Piedad rushed thru the manicure. She didn't listen to what I was telling her. I didn't want my cuticles cut because they cut it too deep leaving the nail skin peeling. She barely pushed back the cuticle leaving them ashey, and worse than when I came in. She insisted she had to cut the cuticle to make them look nice. I relented only for her to quickly cut extra cuticle and skin, leaving them with jagged edges. It was necessary to show her the pieces of skin that was stick up. Sigh. I gave her my brand new clear nail polish to use and she use the brush from another bottle that everyone else used. She also replaced the same cuticle scissors back in the packet it was taken from. No protocols as far as I was concerned used. I'm not sure if I want to come here again. Despite all of this, my mother's mani/pedi went well and was exceptional. read more

I have been to this place numerous times and I have gotten multiple regular SNS tips which have came out decently good.However yesterday I tried a different style thinking well I have been to this place numerous times they're pretty good. However I got a new nail tech this time, a male nail tech. He was nice very respectful and constantly asked if I liked the job he was doing. However I didn't notice throughout the process that the colors were mixing being that I used one light color and one vibrant red color. However I didn't proceed to speak out because these people are license professionals I didn't want to complain until the product was finished. It wasn't until the last step I noticed that he wasn't going to fix it. I paid about $60 for a job that I basically did not ask for. The colors are blending which is not what I wanted at all. Not to mention him and his boss Jenny thought that the job that was done was the best that they can do. My nails look like a beginner nail tech did them and had no idea how to use SNS correctly.That being said I was not compensated other than being given a five dollar coupon that works for when you spend more than $60 which is less than what I actually spent. When I told the guy is there anyway you can make the bottom part pink like it was originally supposed to be in the picture he responded to me that he didn't know what he was doing and that this was his first time doing this style . I gave this place two stars because when I do go they do a fairly good job with my nails and they are usually pretty nice. This experience however was horrible because I spend unnecessary money for a horrible job. If your workers don't know how to do a certain style for a customer the workers should make the customer aware that they are unable to do the job well. I would not be coming back to this place again. Like any other individuals I am upset but I also felt it was unnecessary too cause a scene in the nail salon. I am writing this review to tell you guys do not go to this nail salon if you want nothing but your basic Nail style. Came here for the first time earlier this morning and was very impressed by the quality of their service! Walked in at approximately 10am and was seen immediately. The salon was pretty busy for a Wednesday morning, almost every chair was filled. They had a decent selection of color gels, and an even larger selection of SNS colors. Color gel was $24, and SNS was in the low $30s. They offer great specials from Monday-Wednesday if you get a mani+pedi combo or gel mani+regular pedi combo (~$34) or gel mani/regular pedi/10min massage combo (~$43). I don't recall the exact prices, but those are approximates from what I can remember. I opted for my usual - gel manicure, in a pretty bubble gum pink color. The man who did my nails was extremely patient and meticulous. The nails were perfectly painted - no bumps, bubbles, or missed spots. The best part of the service was the complimentary shoulder massage that came with the service. It only lasted all of 45 seconds, but boy did it feel amazing! My ONLY complaint about this salon, is that they charge a supplement $5 for matte top coat!! This is disappointing considering I prefer matte top coat, and most places do not charge extra for that. I had to pass on the matte top coat, however, the glossy top coat came out looking just fine. I didn't get a pedicure this time, however, I did notice that they use disposable liners. Be sure to ask them for their loyalty card - you get $10 off your 11th visit! I definitely recommend and will definitely be back! read more

I would give this zero stars if I could I came in hoping they would do a good job based on other good reviews. I made an appointment with Jenny only later to find out the lady that did my nails wasnt even Jenny. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she barely looked at it. Nail prep was horrible, she applied the tips crooked and when I told her she said it was because my nail was crooked. When she started filing my nails she was burning my cuticle area because she kept on filing on my skin, i flinched and told her it was hurting but she had already cut 2 of my fingers. The filing was uneven and I have bumps in my nails. When she was filing my tips I told her to not make them too narrow as I wanted a tapered square nails but not too coffin however the end result was bulky and very square and when I told her I wanted them to be narrow she got frustrated and started telling me that's why she asked in the beginning and went on and on about how it's hard to file, well it isn't cus I went home and filed them myself with a hand file to fix the mess she did. She kept on going on about how I have wide fingers and blaming the final product on the shape of my hands rather than her own work. Safe to say I'm never going here again. ***worst part is that my nails are already coming off after ONLY 2 DAYS of getting them done!! I wish I could give two separate reviews. I got a manicure and a pedicure. The manicure with sns is really nice. My nails look natural and it feels like it'll last. It's been one week since I got them done. My pedicure on the other hand didn't even last 24 hours. My nail polish has been chipping and has been such a waste. I usually get a regular pedicure and it lasts anywhere from 2weeks to a month without chipping. I have recommended this place for sns manicure but not toes. 2 week review-- All sns chipped and was easy to chip completely off. It's been exactly 2 weeks. After reading a couple of reviews, I decided to stop in for SNS set and a pedicure. SNS is somewhat similar to acrylic. It's powder that hardens and can be done over tips or on your natural nails. As much as I love SNS/ANC, finding the right technician to apply them is important. Gina at J & W is among the best I've ever had! She took her time and asked what kind of shape I wanted and cut and filed the tips. She also cut and pushed back my cuticles without me asking! My pedicure also done by Gina was equally as good. I walked in at 9:45 am and there were already 4 customers being serviced. By the time I left after 11am, every nail and pedicure chair was full. The tools were sanitized and clean, the staff was friendly and efficient. The prices are clearly listed when walking in. The salon also has offers waxing, lashes and massage services. Parking in the area was hard so I knew I had to be there earlier than my appointment time. I made an appointment for 12:30pm yesterday for UV Gel fill in and a pedicure for my friend. I've never been to this place before but I need to do my nails and my original nail salon is closed on Sunday's. We get there a little before 12:30 and my friend gets escorted to a pedicure seat while I begin to wait. Someone asked me if I wanted color gel and I said only if it's included in the price (the place where I got my set done originally includes it). No one mentioned anything about an extra charge, simply handed me books of colors to choose from. I'm so lost in finding a color that I don't even realize the time. My friend texted me telling me she's almost done and when I look at the clock it's almost 1PM. No one came up to me to tell me the wait will be a bit more, nor did they apologize. I finally start a little after 1PM and I asked the lady to cut my nails and just file them to bring the original shape back since they grew out so much. She tells me there is a $3 fee to cut and I $5 fee to change the shape... WHICH I WASNT DOING... So I told her to just file my nails as they normally would. She filed all my nails different shapes and blames it on the place where I originally got them done. She told me my shape was different. --- once again, I didn't ask for the shape to be changed. Some nails had round edges, some had square... SOME HAD BOTH. It comes time to paint my nails and she asks me if I want color gel. Again... I say, politely, "only if it's included in the price." She tells me there's a $10 fee. At this point I'm annoyed and wanted to leave so I went to look at their regular polish colors and they all look old and watery so I paid the extra $10 out of fear of receiving some sort of bad paint. My nails came out okay, after begging her to file them evenly, but I didn't feel comfortable and relaxed as I should feel in a nail salon. I felt like she rushed. I've never gotten a fill in done in 35 mins!! Oh and my friend says her pedicure was OKAY. J&W is my #1 spot for my nails, and is hands-down the best spot in Ridgewood for manicures and pedicures. Everyone here is friendly and professional. As soon as you come in, you get greeted and assisted by someone (usually by Jenny). They have a good working space, and they are very good at managing the customer flow as well as our expectations of when we are going to be seen. Jenny will attempt some light upselling, but nothing you can't easily say no to. I usually get SNS powder gels for my manicure, and a regular pedicure. Everyone here does a great job, but I have to say Angela is a top pick. She did such a marvelous job with my last manicure, which was super complicated as she had to press preserved flower buds onto each of my nails. I'll definitely be coming back to her next time! I have never been disappointed, they always accommodate me when I come w/o an appointment or bring a friend and overall the staff is very friendly and listens to your concerns. I love Lilliana for pedicures! And so far Kimberly, Jack, and of course Jenny have done amazing work on my manicures. $30 is reasonable to me for the SNS powder, considering these are my real nails and they seem to be getting stronger, I am very satisfied with the results (I have been getting them done continuously since January and only one nail broke due to me picking at it). Not sure if it was just busy when I went on a Friday afternoon, but I found the service to be lacking and extremely rude. One girl was doing my toenails and dipped my feet in scathingly hot water. At the same time, another girl was pushing my cuticles back and managed to make me bleed. She also filed my nails super short to the point where it was painful. She did not apologize or say anything, even after I asked her to be gentle. Also I don't think the nail polish quality they used was very good because it's been less than a week and my gel is already chipped. I just had THE WORST experience at this salon. I went in to have the dip powder on my nails removed & for a standard manicure. The nail tech asigned to me did not care at all about the integrity of my natural nails & instead of properly soaking off the dip powder, she just drilled & drilled it down. She knicked me several times with the drill (even after telling her that it was painful). My nails are so rigid & thin now & she didn't even get all of the powder off. She even cut me/made me bleed in a few places. She charged me $15 for a full manicure & removal & had the nerve to question why I wasn't leaving a tip! I will never be going back again!! read more
