Decided I didn't think $173 for a shirt and tie was too expensive and tried to return the unworn items the next week. I was informed of their return policy which is no returns, only store credit. I was immediately suspicious by such an archaic policy. I left the items on the counter, without a return and walked out. I'll never walk into this business again. read more

Update: I am changing my review to 3-stars. After I posted my original review, the owner called me personally and offered to give me a full refund for the suit. I thanked him for his offer, but I declined. It wasn't the suit that bothered me (it's a nice suit) but lack of communication. I'm increasing the review to 3-stars for the commitment to customer service. If you buy from here, be sure to ask very specific questions about tailoring ahead of time (policy, lead time, etc.). Original Review: Got a suit here for a wedding alongside a few groomsman. None of our suits were tailored properly and all required multiple rounds of additional alternations that we were charged extra for. I was flying in from out of town, so I sent my measurements in over email. There was no attempt to alter my suit whatsoever and I had to wear it completely un-tailored. It did not fit me at all. I literally had to pin up the pants with safety pins and belt it aggressively to get it to fit. read more

You ever get one of those deals that you feel it's just to good to be true. No fine print here. Being a heavier guy it's hard to find a suit that doesn't cost $700 and when you finally do find one in your price range you spend another $200 in tailoring. Jason not only put me in a suit within my price range but had pants hemmed and my suit coat taken out to a perfect fit all within a few hours. I rarely ever give reviews but in this case there is no doubt that Jason and his team will my first choice for my Sunday best. Excellent store for formal men's wear all around. Ten times better than any of the chain stores at the mall. Super classy, tasteful, stylish attire. Went there last minute after not finding anything I liked at Nordstrom. I was extremely pleased. The owner and the couple workers were so helpful, and went out of their way to accommodate me. They provided much more helpful, personal and engaged service that you usually get. They also were able to hem my pants on the spot, instead of the overnight wait at the other stores. The first time, I bought a suit and a couple of pants.The alterations went very fast and fit very well. The second time, I brought 2 pair of pants and two suits for alterations. I went for shopping with my friend who want to shop for his wedding. We did see couple of stores but didnt like much, if the quality is good then it's too pricey and vice versa. So we ended up in this store and it took just 10 mins to select the suite and bang in the bug. It's pretty good quality at low price. And indeed my friend liked it, he had the suite on him and took couple of pics and sent back to his fiancee..after she approved ( no matter what it is that's the final call..lol). Finally he got the clearance to go, and the Sales person was awesome he know which suite fits best and color pick too. He did offered a shirt with pretty good discount which was not on discount, I like it. read more

J is great. The tailoring is excellent, I've been to about 30 tailors in throughout different states within the past few years and I keep coming back to this one. When J is there at Hall Rd or their if you go to the Auburn hills location they do express alterations while you wait which I have rarely ever seen offered anywhere else. The selection of menswear in the store is on point, everything from Eton to his own brand to a bespoke suit and everything in between. read more

WARNING to all - they have a no-return policy that WAS NOT explained to me prior to purchasing the item. Their policy is they will issue a refund within 7 days of purchase as long as the item is not a sale or clearance item. If it is a clearance or sale item, it is neither returnable or exchangeable. How did I find out about this policy? It is on the receipt which was conveniently and quickly folded up and inserted into a receipt holder. I understand that no retail store is obligated to have a return policy, however, I believe that they SHOULD make you aware, either by telling you or by having a sign that outlines this policy. prior to purchasing or before leaving the store. What drew me into the store was a large 70% off sign that as I left the store noticed that it included a very small and different colored text above that said "up to". My fault there for not noticing. Nonetheless, I was the only person in the store at the time and even though I mentioned that I was going to look around was followed around and asked questions regarding my size, comments such as that is a beautiful sweater and on and on. Do they have top-shelf, name brand merchandise with corresponding price tags? Yes. Is the store sparse with limited quantities in sizes, such as large? Yes. Would I return? No. Why would I when you can go to Leconte Menswear in the mall across the street with a welcome exchange or refund policy and an owner that knows how to treat customers with equal top shelf clothing, I made a big mistake going into this store and want to make sure that everyone understands what they're getting into when purchasing something here. Stores with return policies such as J Barbaro's, say to me that they are not going to be around a long time. They are the quick-hit and then close type stores. read more

Went to J.Barbaro to have my suit altered because I lost some weight; right off the bat, I found the owner condescending and uninterested in doing business with me. To have my pants and jacket taken in cost me $100. When I returned to pick up my suit, I found that the shoulders were a little wide and that there was some collar roll (Google it). When I inquired to having the shoulders altered, the owner informed me that it would be expensive to do so ($85) and I understood it wasn't really worth doing. However, what really annoyed me was that to get rid of the collar roll, I would have to pay another $20. This alteration, the owner admitted, was a result of taking in the waist of my jacket. Really? The "master tailor" Jason Barbaro wasn't decent enough to correct something as minor as collar roll unless he was paid an extra $20? Obviously he isn't focused on excellent customer service. While I can't speak for their overpriced clothing, I would advise anyone looking for a tailor to look elsewhere. J.Barbaro is only interested in taking your money for as little work as possible. read more

There are tons of clothing stores not a lot for just us guys and even fewer good stores. Barbaro's is not the cheapest, but gooood stuff like Boss, Canalli's and other great names. The sales person a good guy named Anthony who was very helpful. Great sale on stuff like shoes and sweater. I just wish that he had some in my size, Ok dudes want to look your best and get a smoking good deal, check the store out. read more

J is amazing. The man knows suits and he knows how to tailor them. I initially took old suits to him to have them altered, he fixed them wonderfully and I'm very picky! After a couple years my old suits needed replacing, I went back to J. He showed me a wide range of quality products. He has suits for all budgets and year round weather. His staff is knowledgeable, polite and prompt. If you need a suit or a new wardrobe of suits, this is the only place to go. read more

J. Barbaro Clothiers is truly the Best!! Went to the The Village of Rochester Hills & they have the best suits for my husband!! They showed me how just changing shirts & pants can take a Sport Coat for work, then switch the pants & shirt and have a great look for an casual evening out!! They carry Canali, Robert Talbot finer men's suits as well as Robert Graham for fun shirts out. Not to mention the Joe's Jeans, True Religion and AG Jeans. Now I don't have to run to Somerset Collection when I have to get my husband's clothes!! read more

The general manager John tried to scam me out of a refund for a suit. I came in at night before closing and left a deposit, the receipt said 7 day return policy so I called the next morning and the manager told me because it was a custom order suit that he could not return my deposit. I asked for proof of this policy (that he can not refund a deposit on a custom suit) and was told that it actually didn't exist and that I should of known that a deposit on a custom suit can not be returned. Do yourself a favor and spend the money somewhere where management cares about customer service. read more
