I was so glad to find that this local business was still operating after nearly a quarter of a century, through all the changes in state laws, global warming, COVID, and everything else. Even before hiring them again, we truly respected and admired the countless efforts it must have taken to keep the business going. Jeff, co-owner of BEI, was excellent. He did a superb job scraping off the old film and installing new film on 30 glass panels of windows and doors. He was quick, quiet, thorough, organized, and courteous. We are very happy with every inch of his professional work. The job was completed in less than two days, even though it was originally estimated to take two and a half days. We are currently using many service people during this renovation, and Jeff's service has been the best we've experienced. We chose the darkest film with 99% UV protection. For the first few days, the house felt quite dark, especially in the morning. But now we are realizing how nice it is to come home from 84-85° outside and feel 73-74° inside the house of course without AC. We look forward to seeing our electric bill next month. It was a two-person crew and communication was difficult due to a language barrier (mandarin speaking only), which made it hard to clarify details or ask questions during the process. We did use Google Translate but it only went so far. My biggest concern is the inconsistent quality of the roller shade and blind installations. Some blinds operate correctly, but others shift when adjusting them -- the headrail moves up and down whenever the tilt wand is used. Instead of correcting the mounting, a temporary workaround was used that leaves the headrail sticking out about an inch. There were also measurement and fit issues. One roller shade cassette appeared to be incorrectly sized and had to be forced into place. Several shades are not evenly aligned within the window frames, with varying inset depths that are visibly inconsistent. Additionally, one of the roller shades fails to fully close, which suggests quality or installation problems. Overall, I'm disappointed with the workmanship and finish.
