My friends and I have such busy lives, but we met here around 8ish to celebrate are friend's birthday. The place wasn't overly crowded. The staff was great. Jessica, our host was very attentive and was very knowledgeable of their items they offered. They even gave the birthday girl a special dessert on this house, which was awesome. This place looks nice on the inside, but that's pretty much it. My friends and I came here for Sunday brunch and the all the items on the menu looked good but did not meet my expectations at all. Not to mention that ALL of our silverware was dirty with old food residue and stains. Only thing I can compliment is the service. read more

So I'm not the one to usually complain but I've gone to j Christopher's a lot and the other day when I went for breakfast around 10 am on a Sunday, they were very busy and i was understanding but once we sat down and ordered our food the waiter was nice but it was her second day.. first of all I ordered a latte and it ended up not even being hot just barely warm, then my boyfriend and I both ordered food. I got the belt sandwich with a side of potatoes that comes with it and a chocolate chip pancake and they forgot to the bacon that was supposed to be on the sandwich and forgot the potatoes and pancake. I waited 10 min for it to come out and my boyfriend was already done with his breakfast even though they forgot his pancake to, overall it was just a terrible experience. They could've at least took some of the items off or said they were sorry bc I didn't even want the breakfast anymore after all that. read more

Stopped by for breakfast on a Sunday, we were immediately seated as a party of 8 which would not happen at other Athens brunch spots on a Sunday. Parking is a bit tricky since there are not a lot of spots in the Five Points area so you may have to park farther away and walk. Service was prompt, menu had a large range of breakfast items from omelette to crepes. I got the sausage and gravy skillet (potatoes, peppers, onions, sausage, and cheddar cheese with two sunny side up eggs and gravy). Food arrived quickly, everything was good but nothing mind blowing compared to other brunch spots in the area. Definitely a solid option if you don't want a wait, desire classic breakfast fare, and don't want to break the bank but not my favorite brunch spot in Athens. read more

I typically avoid reviewing places until I've made multiple visits and can speak from a better perspective... I usually come in a party of two on Sunday mornings (albeit I choose to go to Waffle House or mamas boy more frequently than JC); the reasons I leave a 2 star review follow: Wait times: upon arriving and seeing several open tables, we're told there is a 15 minute wait... Which seems to be because there are a major lack of menus. How do you run an establishment where you can't have enough menus for patrons? Wait times (again): seated for ten minutes (on average... One time we waited 15-20) before a waitress even came by to ask for our drinks. It took another five to get them to us, much less the 30 minute wait for food. The food, if served warm, is delicious, but that is rarely the case. On multiple occasions I'm disappointed with the temperature of the food: usually one part is lukewarm and the potatoes are cold. Who wants to eat cold potatoes? More wait times: it takes FOREVER to get your check, then another forever for them to come back and grab your payment method. I don't understand, since that should be the easiest part... But I'm no genius. This is atypical of J Christopher's in general. I've had it in different locations and it's usually expedient and professional. Not sure why this one is so bad, but it seems to be functioning only under the guise of a real J Christopher's. read more

I came into town and tired to find a place that specializes in breakfast and brunch and cake across this place. It's set up very homey and I really enjoyed the setting. Their menu is easily to understand and set out very well. I ordered the eggs Christopher and the blueberry pancakes. It was absolutely delicious. But I would definitely substitute the tomatoes for avocado. The eggs Benny were cooked perfectly!! The pancakes were also delicious! I highly reccomend this order. Coffee was good as well. Service was excellent and extremely quick. The only reason I reduced the review by one star was because the food was slightly cold when it got to us. Mind you, the service was so fast, but the food was slightly less than warm which was a surprise. Especially the potatoes that came with the meal, they were colder. Well first of all we signed up on waitlist @1019 got here at 1030. Were told 20-25 min wait. Online says 7 parties ahead of us . After they called a ton of parties I went up and asked the mail host that was helping the newer female employee because it was 1100 at this point and was told rudely that the computer doesn't know how many are ahead and that he can't control how fast people eat.. no need to be rude. Our first and last time coming due to his rudeness. We were about to leave and @1108 they called us back. The waiter was great . The food was really good. The food was average. I had the blueberry crunch pancake, seemingly their specialty. And OJ, which either was from a container or tasted like it. I ordered to go, and they asked if I wanted silverware, and I said yes. When I got to where I was going to eat it, no silverware. By the time I found a fork, the food was cold. Wait time was a big long, but they offer coffee while you wait (just pay when you get to your table), which is a nice touch. The breakfast was great and came out quickly, it definitely has a chain-restaurant feel which is out of the norm in 5 Points which is full of local shops and eateries but the food was good nonetheless. We started with a cinnamon roll to share which came out piping hot and perfectly gooey, with enough frosting to last every bite! I would highly recommend starting with this. Everyone ordered breakfast skillets with over easy eggs, they were filling and the eggs were perfectly cooked- although the potatoes definitely needed hot sauce or ketchup to make them taste less plain after all of the toppings were eaten, and the whole dish needed salt and pepper for flavor. Overall, a good experience! Nothing extraordinary but nothing to complain about either. read more

This place was disappointing. I got the cheese grits that are advertised to have bacon and jalapeño on top. The grits were watery and jalapeños were nowhere to be found. We also got the biscuits with sausage gravy and cinnamon rolls. The gravy has the consistency of instant gravy and had very little sausage. The cinnamon rolls tasted like they had been frozen. I arrive with some friends after a long July 4th. The display of customer service i've seen today is impeccable. Not only was the grits hard af, but the strawberry waffle my partner ate was so damn good it made his toes curl almost damaging the hardwood. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Just had late lunch here and I had the J. Christopher Eggs Benedict. It was very good, correct temperature and great service. I guess they had trouble at first (others comments) with service and temperature of food. They have sorted the problems out it seems. It's a cute, inviting and friendly atmosphere. So many better options for breakfast/brunch in Athens not the least of which is Waffle House (seriously), plus pretty much anywhere else - these spring to mind - Athens Bagel, Chic FIl A, Golden Pantry fresh biscuits to order, Mayflower, even Cracker Barrel,. We went here based on old memories of good experiences of J Christophers in Tampa and Roswell GA, Could not be more disappointed. Our modest breakfast for 3 topped $50.00. Location is the only plus. We actually went here back in October but I just tonight saw a TV ad for this chain and that motivated me to voice my opinion about the lameness of the Athens outlet. read more

Service was very friendly but it took a little long to get my check, and the takeout order I placed at 11:20 wasn't ready until 11:50, which seemed a little excessive (esp. after I was told we'd just need to wait "a couple minutes," which I realize is a vague term in and of itself). My skillet was to include a biscuit, but when I opened the bag at home I realized the biscuit was missing, which was a bummer. The avocado and turkey skillet was fine, but more on par with a Denny's or Eat 'n' Park than an in-town eatery. I remember loving this place in Atlanta. I stopped in this AM for the first time. Nice staff members greeted me. I had the American breakfast with two eggs over easy, sauteed potatoes and an english muffing. So disappointing! It's hard to mess up breakfast but they certainly did today. I had the traditional...simple breakfast. The over medium eggs were the only thing hot and they were covered in what looked like butter or some kind of oil. The bacon was cold and tasted like it was cooked yesterday and heated in the microwave today. The potatoes were barely cooked and cold, just disgusting! The English muffin definitely had been put in the microwave, it was a rubbery and hard to eat without any toasted part on it. I have eaten here before and the breakfast was wonderful. So I don't know what happened today. When I ate here before I had the skillet breakfast and it was delicious. Don't know if I'll ever go back. read more

Our first time at this restaurant. Took 10 minutes to even take our drink order. Food came out pretty quickly, wasn't too impressed with it. It wasn't terrible but not that great either. After we finished eating we waited and waited for our server, who kept walking by and making eye contact. There were several people working, but looked like they were just walking around and not concerned with the 4 tables that were not cleared or the floor that was unswept. I had to go to the counter and ask that our sever bring the check. Still nothing. We just kept waiting. My husband finally went over to another server and just ask that we be closed out. Still no word from our server. We let the manager know what had happened with our service. Being that my husband and I are both managers we like to know these things to make sure they don't happen again. Safe to say we will never return. read more

Well this location definitely has some growing in terms of management and kitchen staff, but I had a wonderful visit. Unlike the other dirty, often-stale-food shitholes in Athens, this place actually makes me feel like I'm out to brunch getting a nice meal. I got the turkey avocado skillet and my friend got the eggs Christopher-both of us were highly impressed with taste and portion. Yes-maybe a tad pricey- but not much different price than some other brunch places in Athens. Also were impressed with variety of menu options. Wait time was a bit long, but they're a growing restaurant trying to make it in a clearly very over critical small town. I'll definitely be back! I can see potential for great things at this place.
