If you're thinking about booking with J-Dock, don't hesitate. We had an incredible experience, and a huge part of that was Captain Will and his outstanding crew. Captain Will is the kind of captain who clearly loves what he does, and it shows. He's friendly and happy to chat about fishing or the best fish to eat, but he's also constantly scanning the boat, making sure the deckhands are on top of the lines, watching the weather, and keeping everyone on the fish. That balance inspired so much confidence. The trip was fun from start to finish, but you also knew you were in capable hands, which is a big deal when you've traveled three hours offshore, fish for six hours, and then have another three-hour ride back to port. Will is a true professional who has earned our trust and respect. The deckhands were just as impressive. Cole brought so much enthusiasm to the trip. He was patient with our questions, genuinely excited to be out on the water, and his energy was contagious. Joe was one of the hardest-working deckhands we've ever seen. He was constantly moving, grabbing the net, helping land fish, getting rods back into position, and making sure everyone had the best opportunity to catch fish. He absolutely crushed it while keeping a positive attitude all day. A few tips for anyone considering this trip: * Wear layers like you're going skiing, and don't forget rain gear, gloves, and a warm hat. We had cold, rainy weather, but we stayed comfortable and had a fantastic time. * Tip the crew well. They work incredibly hard from the moment you leave the dock until you're back. They absolutely earn it. * The crew does a great job making sure everyone has a fair shot at catching fish. We came home with halibut, rockfish, salmon, and even a salmon shark. * If you're not flying home immediately with a cooler, have J-Dock process and ship your fish. It's well worth it to make sure your catch arrives home in great condition. Landing a salmon shark definitely added an extra level of excitement to our trip, but even without that unforgettable moment, this would have been an incredible adventure. The professionalism, knowledge, and personalities of Captain Will, Cole, and Joe made all the difference. We left with amazing memories, incredible fish, and an experience we'll be talking about for years. We can't recommend J-Dock highly enough. read more

The J-Dock team was fantastic. Very responsive as we planned our trip, and great in the execution. Captain Kyle and crew members Bryson, Andrew, and Melody ensured that our trip was safe, fun, and productive. Our large catch was already filleted by the time we reached port, and we opted to have J-Dock individually package our fish (salmon, halibut, and rockfish) for us to bring back home (they offer shipment as well, but we choose to bring ours back on the plane). Boat and equipment seemed well-maintained for our end-of-season trip. We would absolutely use J-Dock again on a future trip. Note that we were absolutely exhausted by the end, and had a 90-minute drive afterwards -- consider staying in Seward overnight after this trip. read more

We booked a charter with J Docks and we were lucky enough to be on the Outer Limits boat. The first mate Joe was an awesome guy with a great sense of humor. He worked extremely hard to make sure we were catching and landing fish. Cole, the other first mate also did an incredible job. The captain also came on deck and was very passionate about putting us on fish and getting them in the boat. I have been on other fishing charters and I would highly recommend Outer Limits if you want to catch fish while having a blast. read more

J Dock is a first rate professional charter with staff who take care of their clients. We had the best fishing trip yesterday deep sea fishing and even caught salmon on the way back in. Unfortunately, this trip I was severely sea sick, but my spouse caught a 95 pound halibut and even I had some success with the "smallest halibut". Captain Kyle and crew were fabulous. They all worked very hard during the entire charter. Our captain is a nurse and he helped me with my situation and the three-person crew checked on my welfare and ensured I continued to fish. I whole heartedly recommend J Dock to anyone visiting Seward Alaska but recommend you book in advance. Depending on the month you are visiting will also decide the fish you can keep. In the last 12 days, I went out with J-Dock twice, and they run a tight, professional, and rewarding ship, from their captain to their deck crew, to their store workers. They clearly have things nailed down for success. For our party, that turned into a lot of fish to take home and an experience that will be one to remember for a long time. Family trip to Alaska, that included 11 of us. We did a lot of research prior to booking with J-Dock. The first reason was the monster fish we were seeing in pics. The second was, they have their very own processing business attached. All other charter companies send you to them for processing anyways. Now to the actual experience! Left the dock 6 am, drove the 2.5 hours to the spot! 8:40 we were wrestling the 1st halibut! 75 Lbs to start the day! We had caught our halibut limit by 11 am never had a moments rest, always had a fish on! 11 halibut ranging from 40-80 Lbs and 4 bonus halibut (meaning under 32 inches)! Next trolling for King Salmon (Shiny), had two up to the boat, but lost them! Salmon was slow but needed to do it since we killed the Halibut so quick! Final stop was a stop at a rock pile to load up on some donkey's (Rock Fish)! Literally these were jumping in the boat! See attached pic... Lastly the crew! Captain Kyle, deckhands Emmy and Cody, were outstanding! The attention to detail, hard work and effort made this whole trip worth every penny! Gave us real expectations (only Guarantee was a boat ride today)! It was more than a boat ride, it was history lessons, geography lessons, and relationship building! Although we came for the fishing we left with friendships in an unknown place! The fishing was a bonus! Our family was made up of ages from 10-70 and everywhere in between! J-Dock is awesome. Fished with them on 6-20-2023 for a half day and 6-21-2023 for a 3/4 day. Both crews were top notch professionals. Couldn't find kings either day but that wasn't for a lack of effort on the crew and captains. These guys and gals worked their asses of to make this a successful trip. Hit our limits in rock fish both days and slayed the cod. Cora did a great job for her first day as a deck hand. Can't wait to come back next year. read more

I can't believe these folks don't have more Yelp reviews. They are one of the most reviewed on Google. Only got to do a half day with Pat and Colby on the Arctic Cat. We had a full day charter cancelled the day before in Whittier and they worked hard and communicated well to get us something. The whole operation is well done, from the office to the boat. Pat and Colby were great, moving quickly (and constantly) about the boat, taking care of issues, baiting hooks, chumming netting fish and bantering with the customers. We had a little guy with us, maybe seven, and they made sure he had the trip of a lifetime. I credit their non-stop work with making sure all six of us took home 4-5 fish each (and some went back). If I get back to Alaska for another charter, I would never go with another company. These guys are the best. read more

WOW - we've fished with several different charters out of Seward and Homer. This year we went on a long range trip with Captain Scotty on the Glacier Bear and will do it again next year! Scotty, Sam and Paul certainly exceeded our expectations! Sam is an excellent cook - he prepared incredible meals in a very limited space. Trip of a lifetime - great guiding, we limited out on halibut, ling, rockfish, caught a few salmon and big bonus with a wolf eel. We did a day trip out with Captain Griff on the Tailwatcher, had fun, caught lots of fish! Were entertained by Griff, Bailey and Roadie. Can't go wrong with J-Dock! read more

A once in a lifetime experience!! We chartered a fishing excursion for my daughter's 29th birthday in Seward to catch salmon, rockfish and lingcod (apparently it's a law that you can't fish for Halibut on Wednesdays). We got assigned to the Tailwatcher boat with a crew of a few young men from Texas, Matt (the captain), Trey, and I can't remember the names of the others. After about 45 minutes we arrived at our fishing spot where we were given our tags and briefed on technique and safety. Our poles were baited and we started fishing. After two casts, my line frequently got tangled so Matt put 2 artificial lures on my pole. After he did that I started catching rockfish with each cast. I even pulled up a kelp greenling (a beautiful, colorful fish, which we threw back). Sometimes I would catch 2 fish at a time. These guys were great!! They helped us take our fish off of our lines, re-bait our poles and encouraged us to keep catching, even when we were tired. When the excursion was over they hung our fish on hooks, took our pictures and then filleted all of our fish. They were all very skilled and professional and I recommend these guys. Thanks for a fantastic time!! By the way, JDock is also the fish processing place to have the fish you caught packaged, frozen and shipped to your door back home. They'll even hold the frozen product longer than a week to ensure you're home whenever your shipment arrives. read more

We have fished in Seward a handful of times but our trip today was by far the BEST we have ever experienced. Early morning seas were rough getting to the fishing sight, but our Captain Bailey made us feel safe and the commentary with the others on the radio was priceless. Bailey and his deckhand were not there for themselves, they were there to make our day the best fishing day, rain and all. We caught the most variety of fish that we have ever caught on a charter. The boat was full of fish early, so Bailey took us to see goats, and we even attempted to see a glacier but mother nature had other plans. Although he is a Swiftie, we had the ultimate jam session on the way back to the dock. Bailey was very knowledgeable about the fish, seas, and everything in between. They did a great job filleting and vacuum sealing our fish, we would highly recommend J-Dock, and we will most definitely be back! Welcome Aboard! read more

Great day fishing aboard the Predator with Cap't Will!! We had the boat to capacity, but Will and the crew made sure everything ran smoothly and everyone was well accommodated. We had a blast!! We met our quota with Rockfish, and caught some monster Lingcod, awesome fighting Silver Salmon, and a couple of nice Halibut, including an 85 pounder! Everyone was hitting fish at one point or another. Will worked hard to make sure we were on the fish, and the crew helped everyone keep their tackle straight, and get the fish onboard. We hit some dicey weather and rough seas, to be expected, it's Alaska after all. The show 'Deadliest Catch' would be pretty boring if the sea was like a mill pond every episode. But Will handled the weather expertly, got us closer to shore and more protected. But then as quick as it came on, the weather broke, the sun came out and the seas calmed down to make for an exceptional afternoon fishing! I can't say enough either about how hard the deckhands 'Scott' and 'Ben' worked the boat; cutting bait, baiting hooks, dealing with tangled lines, hauling fish, anchoring, cleaning fish, cleaning the boat, tending to guests...it was like a well-oiled machine...Back at the dock, everyone was accommodated with their fish. I can't say enough about this operation. I've fished with different charters around the country and Mexico, and these guys are top-notch!! I can't wait to return!! read more

What an incredible experience I had in Alaska. I had the opportunity to go on one of the most memorable fishing trips I've ever been on. Captain Will on the F/V Predator (one of J docks fine sport fishing vessels) was more than welcoming walking down the dock. We set sail through the bay with a unbelievable sights. Bald eagles soared the sky's and mountain goats roamed Mount Alice. When we got to the fishing grounds it was like capt will knew where the fish were living. We caught a ton of halibut and went rock fishing after and loaded the boat. The mates were top notch teaching the boat all of the correct techniques on how to catch these cold water dwellers. And best yet when we arrived back to the dock our fish were filleted, vacuumed sealed, labeled and ready for shipment to where ever I wanted it to go. Over all A++++ for the entire J Dock crew.
