The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with spectacular glaciers, incredible wildlife, and stunning coastal views everywhere we looked. Our captain was amazing! She did a fantastic job pointing out every scenic highlight and all the sea animals we encountered along the way. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made the trip even more enjoyable. A special shout-out to the two young servers on board. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the cruise. When we reached the glacier, they even helped us take photos while we held pieces of glacier ice, creating memories we'll treasure forever. I would 100% recommend this cruise--as long as you don't get seasick. The water can get rough. Unfortunately, even though our daughter took Dramamine before boarding, she still became seasick and couldn't fully enjoy the experience. If you're prone to motion sickness, consider talking to your doctor about stronger prevention options before your trip. Overall, this cruise is an absolute must-do in Seward. Dress warmly, bring a good camera, and prepare for one of the most unforgettable experiences Alaska has to offer!

We did the longest tour they had - the eight hour Northwestern - it was great every minute. We got the perk pass which I would recommend if you care about where you sit - we were the third couple on the boat and got a great seat facing forward. You will have to share with other families as all the seating is group seating but everyone is outside almost the whole time so easy enough to share. Perk pass also includes unlimited soft drinks - since there are three heads on board you will feel free to hydrate. The wildlife and glacier part of the tour is amazing. We saw otters, Stellars porpoise, a Blue whale blowing a rainbow spout!, humpback whales, eagles, puffins, seals, sea lions, and a pod of 12 orcas. Not to mention some incredible islands, glaciers, and mountains. The captain and other staff were experienced and great narrators. I did have a prescription sea sickness patch and it was a bit rocky for about half an hour, but it didn't impact me thanks to the patch - only two or three people seemed really sick. Food was better than I would have thought - cinnamon rolls and yogurt for breakfast. A quinoa chicken southwestern burrito, and a cookie at the end. Also tried the glacierita - when else will you have a chance?? If you're considering this tour - just book now!

After a little more searching, we came across this company, and after reading the reviews, we decided to give them a try. The reviews were spot on. The whole experience was amazing. The glacier was absolutely beautiful, and seeing both humpback whales and orcas on the same trip was something we'll never forget. Leif shared great stories along the way, and both he and Emily were incredibly knowledgeable about the area, wildlife, and local history. Captain Will is the kind of captain who clearly loves what he does, and it shows. He's friendly and happy to chat about fishing or the best fish to eat, but he's also constantly scanning the boat, making sure the deckhands are on top of the lines, watching the weather, and keeping everyone on the fish. That balance inspired so much confidence. The trip was fun from start to finish, but you also knew you were in capable hands, which is a big deal when you've traveled three hours offshore, fish for six hours, and then have another three-hour ride back to port. Will is a true professional who has earned our trust and respect. The deckhands were just as impressive. Carl brought so much enthusiasm to the trip. He was patient with our questions, genuinely excited to be out on the water, and his energy was contagious. Joe was one of the hardest-working deckhands we've ever seen. He was constantly moving, grabbing the net, helping land fish, getting rods back into position, and making sure everyone had the best opportunity to catch fish. He absolutely crushed it while keeping a positive attitude all day. A few tips for anyone considering this trip: * Wear layers like you're going skiing, and don't forget rain gear, gloves, and a warm hat. We had cold, rainy weather, but we stayed comfortable and had a fantastic time. * Tip the crew well. They work incredibly hard from the moment you leave the dock until you're back. They absolutely earn it. * The crew does a great job making sure everyone has a fair shot at catching fish. We came home with halibut, rockfish, salmon, and even a salmon shark. * If you're not flying home immediately with a cooler, have J-Dock process and ship your fish. It's well worth it to make sure your catch arrives home in great condition. Landing a salmon shark definitely added an extra level of excitement to our trip, but even without that unforgettable moment, this would have been an incredible adventure. The professionalism, knowledge, and personalities of Captain Will, Carl, and Joe made all the difference. We left with amazing memories, incredible fish, and an experience we'll be talking about for years. We can't recommend J-Dock highly enough.

Our large catch was already filleted by the time we reached port, and we opted to have J-Dock individually package our fish (salmon, halibut, and rockfish) for us to bring back home (they offer shipment as well, but we choose to bring ours back on the plane). Boat and equipment seemed well-maintained for our end-of-season trip. We would absolutely use J-Dock again on a future trip. Note that we were absolutely exhausted by the end, and had a 90-minute drive afterwards -- consider staying in Seward overnight after this trip.

Within minutes of lines going in the water, fish started coming out. The entire boat caught their "overs", and most of us caught our "unders" by 11AM. Manny moved the boat to new spots to find rockfish, salmon and smaller halibuts. The deckhand Bora was quick to help with the tackle, and cleaned the fish on our way back to shore. My wife was horribly seasick most of the day. Manny and Bora were quite helpful. Luckily, she still managed to pull in a few halibut. We'd highly recommend Puffin Charters!

The bite didn't start right away but slowly creeped up until the entire boat had their 2 halibut. No monsters but we were feeling good after hearing on the radio that some other boats were still looking for their first fish. Then we made a move to an area where the Rockfish were holding and we hit our limit after just a couple passes. Next stop was back towards Seward where we piled up to a well known spot based on all the boats around and OMG did we put those nets to work! Gotta give a HUGE shout out to Jeremy & Dalton- the best Mates we had all week. Those guys were always prepared with bait, a gaff or a net. This was our 3rd (& last) charter of the week, and as they say, saved the best for last. If you're considering a Charter, I'd call these guys first.
