Ippolito and Son Construction is a company that I can wholeheartedly recommend. They remodeled our kitchen in 2016 in an old brick bungalow. We just did not know what we would find once the kitchen, last remodeled in 1975 by the previous owners, was gutted. There were many issues, including the integrity of the electricity and plumbing. Although the space is large compared with similar bungalows, because of the configuration, there was no way that it could be reconfigured, and with newer and larger appliances, there was a space issue. Mario worked with us to solve each problem, giving us options with full explanations and time to answer all our questions so that we would be able to make the best decisions possible. Communication is key to my husband and me in working with a contractor, and you have that with Mario. Our kitchen is now just beautiful because of the workmanship of Mario and his staff. They worked very well with the person from the company that did our cabinets as well. The expertise is evident in his knowledge shared in the process and his and his staff's meticulous attention to getting it done right. Then in summer of 2019 he tore down our two-story back porch, which was ancient, and was so patient, along with the architect, during the very long time it took to get a permit from the city, which required explanations to the board regarding why some features needed to be grandfathered in without sacrificing safety. The city was a stickler on that. In addition to the porch looking great (and the company's having to figure out how to deal with other issues found once the old porch was torn down, to the satisfaction of the city), the porch is so sturdy it could hold a couple of thousand pounds of whatever if it had to. Due to all the delays with the city, the staining had to be put off because of end-of-fall weather. Last week, the staining was completed by the company, and it is beautiful. J Ippolito and Son is a top-notch operation and a relief after having dealt with another not-so-great construction company many years ago when we did our bathrooms. We put off our kitchen for years because of our experience with that operation, but when Mario was recommended to us, we saw our friend's kitchen that they did, and spent two hours with us when he came to give the bid, we were ready. I have had 2 home improvement projects done by J Ippolito & Son Construction. The first was a total kitchen remodel in 2015 with removal of a wall to open up the kitchen to the dining and living room. When I decided on a bathroom remodel there was no question that I would have Ippolito Construction do the job as well. The bathroom remodel also included installation of an upstairs washer / dryer and wood floor refinishing in 3 bedrooms. Mario did a great job in guiding me through both projects from the initial plans to their completion. He was a pleasure to work with, very patient, kind, answering my many questions. His attention to detail was impeccable and always kept me up to date every step of the way. Mario and his crew were responsible, knowledgeable, and consummate professionals. Mario renovated two bathrooms in our 115-year-old Chicago bungalow. We also had the entire house painted. From demo, to framing, to tiling, to finishing touches, Mario and crew did a great job, were respectful of materials and space, and were creative when we encountered setbacks and surprises. We lived in our home during the entire renovation. It helped that Mario and crew had an extremely clean worksite, and cleaned up really well at the end of every day. They were cheerful and kind to our daughter and dog. Mario was very transparent about costs and invoices. He was helpful in taking our designer's ideas and making them real and practical in the bathrooms. He always dialogued with us before making changes, large and small. We just had our basement remodeled by J Ippolito & Son Construction and the experience was incredible from start to finish. I highly recommend J Ippolito & Sons Construction. We hired them to renovate our Master Bathroom in 2020. They were able to fully execute plans from our designer down to the detail -- and there were a lot! They created a wet-room concept shower with stand-alone tub. The bathroom has 3 different kinds of tile and custom floating shelves. Having a house that is over 100 years old, there were many hurdles to get over with the old plumbing and electrical. Mario and his crew were able to come up with solutions to complete our vision without having to compromise the design. It was a pleasure having them in our home. I think our whole family missed seeing the crew everyday once things were complete! Everything was kept clean and organized, the whole crew was very respectful of our home. We had a driveway and yard in disrepair Last year we started planning out exactly how we could get the yard and driveway we wanted and within our budget. We decided to fix it all in two phases Mario met with me to plan out the first phase last year and completely transformed our yard to allow us more space to play with the kids and a patio we could actually use. This year they came back to finish a driveway that was essentially unsafe. Mario came out, went over exactly what we wanted and made it happen within our schedule. They explained how to treat and care for the new concrete We have received numerous compliments on how much it has transformed the look of our house. Ippolito and Son construction is the company you want to work with on a home or exterior project. They built a 10 ft x 12 ft deck for us last fall in our tiny city yard in just 2.5 days. The team also respected our wish to not stomp the plants that were less than a foot away from the footprint. The next spring, they did a great job staining it.
