Came here with the entire family on a busy, hot Saturday and was served quickly. Though many trendier places have popped up in recent years, JP Licks has managed to maintain its charm and tradition while evolving with the times. I particularly like how they constantly update the flavor options including a great Celtics themed ice cream on this visit. Would definitely recommend hard ice cream over soft, and anything chocolate based is can't miss. Some flavors can be a bit too rich or sweet but it's ice cream after all. This location has ample space to eat inside or outside as well. Highly recommend !

Wanted to try this ice cream joint that has multiple locations. Love the ambiance and flavor options. I got a single scoop - 1/2 one sweet World Series & 1/2 birthday cake, loved both flavors. Seems like they have their usual flavors and a few rotating flavors too. There is some seating inside and outside. Service is quick and friendly!

This is a self serving review to remind me to stray out of my comfort zone for ice cream. We biked to Davis Square on a warm Sunday afternoon and arrived sweaty and hypoglycemic, and there was JP Licks. Determined not to completely gorge ourselves, my wife and I shared a small cup with two flavors: peanut butter cookies and cream (peanut butter ice cream with chunks of chocolate and cream cookies stirred in), and lumpy primate (banana ice cream with chunks of chocolate and walnut). The ice cream was unusually creamy and utterly delectable. I'm usually a chocolate ice cream guy but now I'm all about diversity, thanks to JP Licks.

We had seems multiple JP Licks locations during our time in Boston and knew we needed to try it. This ended up being one of our favorite ice cream shops we have been to! They have so many menu options including regular ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, floats/milkshakes, sundaes, and even cakes. The ice cream was so creamy and the taste was spot on. There were plenty of staff so even though it was crowded, we were served in less than 10 minutes. They had a few tables and seats around the store. This was a fun place to sit as they were playing good music and it was interesting reading the bulletin board with upcoming local events. I would definitely stop by for another scoop of ice cream from JP Licks!

There's a reason the line is out the door at this ice cream shop! The flavors are awesome, and the staff are so kind and friendly too. This place is the perfect summer treat!

    September Special: Pandan Ice Cream

I happened to be in the area so I visited this location to try the September exclusive flavors of Ube and Pandan on a Sunday afternoon. There was only one other person ahead of me at the register. A scooper saw me and came over. She looked bored to tears or angry, I couldn't tell. She let me try the two flavors, her fingers awfully close to the ice cream. I decided to get a kiddie of the pandan. She looked at me and said nothing...... With an awkward stare. She repeated the order and scooped. It was a weird interaction. Finally I go over to the register. The same lady was still there waiting as her coffee was being prepared by the cashier. So I waited.... A third worker walked over, joked with the cashier, and left to go into the back. I continued waiting. A line formed at the ice cream as the one who helped me was on her phone in the back. Finally the cashier finished the coffee, cashed her out, and then cashed me up. I'm not sure how I feel about returning to this location.

Squirrel Nut Zipple. OMG, this was an amazing flavor. Peanut Butter ice cream with roasted, salted peanuts and a caramel ripple. I only got the smallest one they had and enjoyed it thoroughly. Awesome. Good service in this very small spot. There are some seats inside and a lot of seats outside with benches and tables where you can watch the colorful locals. On this particular instance, a dude practicing his parkour by jumping and leaping over the tables.

If you're not familiar with JP Licks, this is a must visit ice cream chain in Boston. You can try a few flavors before buying if you're having trouble deciding. I got the salted caramel cookies n cream. Tastes exactly as it sounds with cookies n cream as a base. It was a bit more sweet than I expected, but still rich and delicious. It cost ~$5 for a small (1 scoop). Better deal if you get at least 2 scoops :) There are several benches outside that are great for meet ups on summer days.

Let's do ice cream talk, people!! I love their sundae, the variety of ice cream choices and toppings!! But what I love the most is the atmosphere! The decoration of the place is so cheerful!! 5 stars for the service!

I am a cookies n' cream person, but have the occasional craving for cake, which means cookies n' cake batter is basically my dream flavor. The buttercream-tasting ice cream is swirled with rich chocolate cake and cookie pieces. So good, that it couldn't possibly be topped by the other flavor we chose. But the mocha chip was perfect, an equal in every way. Smooth, rich, creamy, and just sweet enough with a hint of salt. It tastes like a good, strong coffee and even manages to have some crunch (I'm not sure what the chips are...coffee sugar pieces maybe?). Breaking up the cone and mixing it with the ice cream added even more crunch. In short, cookies n' cake batter + mocha chip = OMG hit the spot. This is a serious contender for best ice cream I've ever had.

Tom had a hankering for ice creme so we walked to this little place in davis square. I hope more people discover this place because i swear they serve the most authentic ice creme anywhere! It's called J.P. Licks. I think JP stands for jean pierre and maybe it's pronounced 'leeks' with a stressed syllable but for all i know my american accent is probably butchering something flat and beautiful like 'liiice.' I know--so gauche! Tom got un(e?) petit(e?) peanut bootay glace de sundae avec creme whipped et fudge. Charming place if a little expensif pour moi parce-que je suis cheap but what would you expect with a place that advertises on their door that "nous torrefions notre cafe"?

DELICIOUS! There are so many flavors to choose from and they are so great about letting you try the different flavors. It is a small space, so seating is limited. There offer such a wide variety of ice cream flavors, from their original and staple flavors, to seasonal specials, like their pumpkin cheesecake. I got 2 scoops: one of the peanut butter cookies 'n cream and the other of their pumpkin cheesecake. There were so many options but I had to pick quickly. In addition to some classics and spins on classics, they also offered gluten free flavors, sorbets, and dairy free choices. They sell pints of ice cream that you can take home with you in addition to getting a fresh scoop. You can also order various drinks, coffee, and shakes. After you place your order and get your scoops, you also have an option to add toppings. You can pick fruity and gummy options or add in some graham cracker and chocolate chips. They also offer warm hot fudge, syrups, and a special apple pie compote. If you're a big fan of ice cream, I highly recommend stopping by!

It's always been a popular space, but now it's full of light, new furniture, and open space (but still a couple conference rooms). I'm a bank customer, but I much appreciate how the staff welcomes everyone to come here, whether you have an account with them or not. I was very excited to see they now carry Verve Coffee, one of my favorite roasters from California. (They formerly carried Peets.) Cap One customers can use their debit cards for 50% off, which is an even better deal now that the drinks are a bit more expensive. My 12 ounce lavender honey latte was $6 without the addition of non-dairy milk and tax. It was a tasty treat on this cold, cold day - definitely on the sweeter side. There's still an ATM near one of the front doors and another inside, with a large digital display for additional bank products. But again, they're not pushing to sell, so you can just come in for a drink and a chat, or just a relaxing place to sit. The wifi is still fast and there are plenty of outlets.
