As a Realtor, I've got to know who I can safely recommend to clients, and this one is a no-brainer for me. They do water softener, iron filter, and reverse osmosis installation and service, and even salt delivery. I've personally used them, and numerous clients of mine have done the same (including again just today). They're located in Watertown, WI (Jefferson County), which is just a little west of Oconomowoc, though they'll travel a decent distance. Today's client was in Richfield. This is a longstanding, family owned business, and their folks are polite, on time, reasonable, and really experts on all things water. As highly as I can recommend anyone, call Schaefer's with confidence. Please note, I get exactly nothing from anybody I recommend, but the knowing that I can do it with confidence is worth plenty to me and my work.

Called today after seeing the US mail scan and another Culligan bill which I found odd because we…read morehaven't had a delivery. We are here 24/7 and know every contractor that comes and goes in and out of our house. I checked our salt tank and all that is in it is 8" of water. Not a spec of salt found. Called Nathan. He said it was delivered August 8, 2024 which generated the bill. For years the water softener tank was filled to the brim continuously with salt. In the past the driver would come in the back door and deliver like clock work every month. We heard him come in, deliver, and leave. Since locking the back doors a few years ago we never see him. Told him to use the door with the ramp. That was met with resistance. Last year we've heard the driver knock 2 times. Both times we went to answer the door and heard the truck drive off and had to call Nathan to get him to turn around and come back. In 2024 we had to call and ask for salt because the tank was empty. If the driver is coming and we are not here, which is rare, there isn't a notice that he stopped by. There is never a delivery notice to alert us that the driver is delivering on a given day or at a minimum a given week. One of our rentals receives a delivery also, and we are never asked for a key or entry into that rental. The delivery doesn't taken place there either. In summary, we get bills and no salt delivery. Nathan's response is that the driver wouldn't risk his job over 3 bags of salt. Then where is the salt? Where is the driver? Because the driver isn't coming into our home and delivering anything. The photo is our water softener on the day the Culligan bill came in for a delivery that they say happened on 8/8/2024. From 2019 - 2022 this tank was filled to the top all the time. Communication with Culligan is inferior and the customer service is poor.

If you call there in the morning she will answer the phone, but is always pre occupied talking to her crew and complaining about how busy she is. If you call in the afternoon Dawn may or may not answer and if she does she is "away from her desk" and may or may not return your call. Randy was very quick to say he could find a better toilet that I could buy in store. I said ok great do you have a picture because I don't want just any toilet? Nope. "I will have the guys pull one out of the box and have Dawn send you a pic" That never happened. Even after asking a second and third time, I said the hell with it and found one myself. Moving along, I wanted a washtub installed in the basement and it was the same line as before. "I can find you one way better than you can find in the store" Okay great get me one. That never happened either. Not only did Dawn keep sending me an invoice for $100 or so that I had already paid and previously disputed, I repeatedly asked her for my current invoice. She said I should have gotten it but she would "look into it and get back to me" As you can probably guess by now, that didn't happen either. I had to call her again to request it be sent again AND ask her about the permit Randy said he would get. I had to ask because by this time I was fed up and hired a new plumber. This is where the story takes a nice turn. I have never done a renovation before and it would have been nice to be told that I needed to have an inspection done by the city. I am guessing he didn't mention it because he never got the permits they told me they would. When I called him out on this to Dawn she gave me some lame story about how she rubs elbows with the people that work for the city and its "actually not a big deal" She told me worse case scenario I would get a small fine, no big deal. Obviously she doesn't have an attorney because mine assured me that was NOT the case. Moving along, she LIED to me AGAIN on the phone and said Randy just took care of it. She asked if I would like to schedule more work and I said no thank you. After having a quality plumber look at Randy's crappy work he rolled his eyes and said "this is not good" The main stack had been hacked so many times it looked like a kid took 50 pieces of random pipe and glued them together. After telling the new plumber what I was doing in the bathroom he said he has know idea wtf Randy's plan was but he would have to redo all his work. This included replacing the stack again and properly roughing in the bathroom with the rest of the work I needed finished. He pointed out pipes glued together crooked and even broken fittings. I wouldn't recommend Randy to work on ANYTHING! Call ANYONE besides R and R Plumbing. I wish I had, it cost me THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!

He quickly undertone problem and fixed it in under an hour. They also recommended a water damage remediation company that was there in under an hour to repair that damage. He looked at our water softener and said, "I don't know anything about these...." I showed him a pin that supposed to be attached to the softener and he said "Yeah I don't know why there'd be a pin in it." So we are paying for a plumber to come out and NOT know about water softeners? So he installed the bidet but it took him just shy of TWO hours. When he finished he said it was leaking (maybe not his fault)- but two hours for a bidet? I installed it myself at our other house in 15 minutes. The only reason we had a plumber do it was because we needed a different T-valve and he didn't get a different T-valve- he just rigged the one we had to make it work (might be why its leaking????). We do need to get a new water softener but will be using someone else to install it as they did not leave us with much confidence in their abilities.
