This place is an absolute joke. I am surprised that the average star rating is a 3, that is extremely generous for the sorry excuse of a restaurant that this place is. Honestly I am hesitant to even use the word restaurant as it tarnishes the word. Lets break this place down on why you should absolutely just stay far far away from this place. 1) The food: If you enjoy bland, frozen food then this is the place for you. The quality of food is so beyond trash I am surprised that more people are not left sick after eating here. The pizza, the only thing that is comparable is if you take some cheap cheese and put it on an amazon cardboard box and take a bite. If you wish to punish your family then I would recommend getting feeding them anything off this menu. The food is outrageously priced for such low quality, and quantity. If your order is not correct the owner will argue with you over the phone until she offers a CREDIT TO THE PLACE instead of a refund... as if you would even want to come back here. 2) Environment: Now this is where it gets really bad. You walk in and the dining room appears clean which is great.....until you walk to the To-Go counter. From there you are able to peer into the open kitchen. There you will see one of the dirtiest kitchens I think that I have ever seen. The floors are absolutely disgusting. The "manager" walks around the restaurant covered in filth and touches EVERYTHING. I watched him walk directly inside after smoking in the back and proceed to start working on the Expo station sending food out WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS. The amount of times that I saw anyone washing their hands was ZERO, Not one person performed any sort of hand hygiene. I then proceeded to hear employees talking to one another about how multiple people contracted COVID, and the restaurant did not do a deep clean, actually the exact words were "Im surprised the health department has not shut us down with the amount of people who got COVID, and we haven't had anyone come in to disinfect the place" So not only by eating here are you at risk of getting sick from the food, but also COVID. 3) The Staff: If any staff members from Jroo's reads this I deeply apologize from the bottom of my heart that you have to work under the sorry excuse for management. The servers were so nice, and same with the To-Go staff, but I witnessed the OWNER sit there and insult the staff right in front of customers. The kitchen manager if not smoking, is more than likely walking around the restaurant dirty and being annoyingly loud for no reason, and if he is in the kitchen he is contaminating food and yelling at his employees. In conclusion: There are many many many other local business that you should spend your money at. Head my warning and stay far away from this place. read more

Been to this place twice recently, comfortable place to have a good lunch, BLT and fries 1st time and it was very good, second time shrimp parm special, good but shoulda got the BLT again! Atmosphere is awesome, nice big place, a bit of a buzz but not crazy. Pleasant waitress, decent waiting for food, not too long. We got the BLT pizza and eggplant parm grinder to split. The grinder could have used more sauce and more cheese. The pizza wasn't bad but it said it had ranch dressing on it, we didn't taste much at all, only a few random bites here and there. We did, however, like that the bacon on it was crispy and not soggy. If you are looking for great pizza, this is not the place but it is decent and is bar style pizza. If I could give a zero I would! This restaurant is rundown and falling apart, when I sat in a booth I could barely get in and out of, I almost fell through the seat! Not to mention as I watched the host wipe the table down for us on a busy night she did not even lift the salt and pepper shaker off the table and just wiped around them, we had to request it be wiped again by our server because it was still dirty, the seats didn't get wiped down which still had food on them from the people before me, as well as food still tucked down in the seat. The server introduced herself, took our drink order as we looked over this very large menu, that they can't possibly have all these items made fresh everyday, the menu is ginormous! She barely gave us any time to look over the large menu, which we felt very rushed to order, when it was our first time here we had no clue what they had. We ordered the Philly cheese egg rolls as our started along with the fried calamari. The egg rolls tasted freezer burned and looked very old, the calamari was rubbery. Our server did ask if there was something else I'd like to order instead but by this point I was nervous to do so, almost scared to order my dinner. My husband ordered a salmon dinner, my husband's side salad was wilted and appeared as if it was made hours ago sitting out in the hot air of a kitchen, and when he received the salmon it smelled very fishy and if you know, you know if any fish has an over bearing fishy smell then its no good and had gone bad! The salmon tasted sour, the vegetable of the day was mushy over cooked. The only thing that was edible on the whole plate was probably the seasoning they used ( which idk if they did use seasoning). I ordered the blackened pork chop, my side salad was the same as my husband's, and the sweet potato fries were also dried out like they sat under a heater too long that's probably why my husbands were also dried out, not fresh at all, also got smushy mushy vegetables! The pork chop was decent just a little bit dried out. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining or picky, maybe even sounds like a Karen, but this was our first time and last time here. Never again will I return or send anyone there. Not recommended. Like I said if I could give a zero I would for this restaurant. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the roach I found in the dirty bathroom with paper towels and toilet paper all ripped on the floor, and just as I stepped out of the bathroom I see the server using her bare hands to pick up the lemon and limes for the drinks and place them into the cups for the customers to consume (after touching money and anything else). I couldn't get out if this establishment fast enough because I had a water with lemon and just wanted to throw up just seeing that sight! Did I forget to mention how loud and noisy it is coming from the bar area, can even hear yourself think let alone have to yell to have a conversation with your dinner partner. I ate here on Saturday night and it's now Tuesday morning and my stomach hasn't been the same, let's leave it at that!! If you want bad service from a server named Allison, who looks as if she's having a bad day, hungover, a mess or just a miserable person, doesn't want to do her job or want to be there, sometimes couldn't find her as if she was hiding away, if you want to get over charged for bad food, still have to pay for nasty food you didn't eat and have your server not even apologize for the food and ask if there was anything else or ask to remove from the bill, if you want roaches possibly in your food, if you want salmonella in your food or any other germs and bacteria on servers hands going into your drinks, if you want bad service, if you want to have health issues and crap your brains out for days, then this is your place ladies and gentlemen! Have at it, you can have this place because I'd rather eat at McDonald's or burn my money before ever stepping foot in this restaurant ever again! I see how it's a 2.9 rating, it doesn't even deserve that. I can't even fit everything in here that I'd like to really say about this place and my review is still long. I can't stress it enough... This restaurant is so dirty and to top it off the food isn't good at all. The waitresses are good but the owners are down right rude to them. Everything that could of went wrong did from the moment I put my name in for a table. Once seated we had to wait for over 30 minutes until we flagged down one of the wait staff to take our order. The food was cold, and brought out incorrectly. Then when the bill was run on the credit card incorrectly, it took over a half hour to be addressed. And the error was only addressed because I got up to speak directly to the owner. I guess one should not expect anything more from a owner who was imprisoned for federal tax evasion. Went here for a quick bite coming back from Target and that is what this place is good for. A quick bite. We got nachos that were very good, but i wasnt crazy about my pizza. It was the one with artichokes, basil, and tomatoes. It was tasteless. It needed more garlic or flavor of some kind. My mom got the italian sandwich, but all the meats and cheeses were cut very thick which we both thought was kind of unappetizing. We also got the reeses pie dessert which was amazing. Bring a worker here, I'm obviously biased to the restaurant, but it's so much more than that. The lunch specials are amazing. Every day there's new ones and they're mouthwatering. Chicken Fajita Grilled Cheese!? Californian Chicken Wrap (with avocado, ranch and bacon) The counter staff are always so warm and happy, as well as the waitresses. We ordered a Chicken Alfredo for takeout. When we got home, we found out there was no Chicken in our Chicken Alfredo. We called up J Roo's to tell them they'd forgot to add the Chicken to our Chicken Alfredo. We were told that their Chicken Alfredo doesn't come with Chicken, and we needed to request it separately for an additional charge. When I pointed out it doesn't make any sense to order the Chicken separately from the Chicken Alfredo, I was told "Well, that how our system works". There was no apology, or even an acknowledgement that how their system works isn't clear to the customer. I was told they would make it again with Chicken and charge us again with the higher price to add the Chicken. I ordered the meatloaf, and dear lord, that meat loaf lasted me 3 meals. The food was amazing. I'm pretty sure it's one of the best meatloaf I've had. The veggies and mashed potato are also phenomenal. The inside is cozy and inviting. It was a bit loud the day my wife and I went because there was a party going on in their party room. If I could give less than 1 star I would. This place was TERRIBLE. They said they had a 15 minute wait on the phone. We showed up at 5:30pm on Mother's Day with two children. Our food wasn't served for TWO HOURS and it was all bad. The burgers came out on sandwich bread and burnt to a crisp, fries were cold, wings were cold, pasta was over cooked, salad was welted from being under the heating lamp for too long. The waitress barely checked on us and didn't offer us anything complimentary. The table next to us got several complimentary drinks, appetizers AND desserts. Not sure which was worse, the food or the service. Even after we complained, all they did was take 20% off the bill. The Head Chef was at least nice enough to come out and acknowledge that there was a problem and apologize. The owner was too busy drinking and mingling at the bar to pay any attention to unsatisfied customers. It was pretty pathetic to watch. SAL should be embarrassed and ashamed. read more

First time here since the re-opening a while back. My partner had been here for drinks and bar food in the past and took me for lunch here today (11/25/18). We were seated right away, a friendly enough server (Jen) came over right away. I was very impressed at how nice the place looked inside and at the great smell of something garlicky in the air. Smelled like a nice pot of Sunday sauce cooking. That was the end of the good-- it was all downhill from here. Partner ordered the French Onion Soup and a BLT .. I ordered "the Coach" (a burger "wrapped in a grilled cheese with crispy bacon and tomatoes"). We waited ... and waited .. and waited. Then his soup came out. Top looked nice and brown .. broth tasty, but definitely on the salty side. He ate about half and when server noticed he had pushed it aside, as she took it, he said "pretty salty". Then we waited and waited again for the rest. Another 20 minutes after the soup and the food arrived. The Coach ($11.50) - the grilled cheese part was clearly sautéed in some kind of fryer grease instead of butter. It had a very nasty taste, the bread was soaked with whatever this oil was and the bacon was heavily undercooked; far from "crispy" as the menu promised. The burger inside was cool probably from sitting for so long. Steak fries were decent. BLT ($10.00) - the lettuce inside this sandwich was disgusting .. it was shriveled up wads of something that used to be lettuce at some point. We couldn't even tell what kind. He scraped it off. Same undercooked bacon that I got .. and instead of the mayo being spread on the bread, it was just dumped in a big wad on each slice of brea. Total laziness. Sweet potato fries were far too dark; borderline burned. Server did a quick drive-by and asked how things were .. and almost as if she knew, she pretty much kept on walking so as not to hear our reply. We did consider asking for a manager, but at that point, we had already waited long enough for everything, even if they did "correct things". We ate what we could and just left, as we had a show to catch and we were just sick of being here by this point. I'm sending a copy of this to the management at the email address I see listed in other bad reviews here. I don't want anything in return .. or to even come back again. Let me start by saying, I was never a fan of the "old" J Roo's. I had ordered takeout twice, a few years ago. The first time, a coworker picked up the order. The food was, meh. The second time, I offered to make the drive. That was the last time I ate there. The place was filthy! I had seriously considered walking out, the minute I walked in the door. The food had been mediocre, at best. Recently reopened, in a slightly different location (by a few hundred feet), the beautiful new digs looked promising. The restaurant was open for dinner only for about a week, when we called inquiring about lunch. We were told they weren't serving lunch yet. We waited a week and were told that they didn't have to go menus. We tried to order over the phone, but nobody seemed to know their menu. Earlier this week, we were finally able to get our hands on a copy of the menu. We phoned in our order; Steak & Cheese Grinder, Chicken Parm Grinder and Pastrami & Swiss Sandwich with Steak Fries. The woman on the phone was pleasant and the food was ready on time. The food however, was a huge disappointment. The Parm was burnt and there was very little chicken in the sandwich. My Steak & Cheese did not taste right. I could not even get through half of a half, before pushing it away. My coworker tried a bite and said that it tasted like it came from a dirty grill. The Pastrami sandwich was ok, and the steak fries were good. Maybe they excel at beer and apps? I definitely won't be going back for lunch. read more

J Roo's has recently opened a brand new location, directly behind its old spot, which is now a gas station. Parking appears to be an issue (people were parking on the street) until you realize they have a huge lot in the back. The new location looks beautiful. They have a separate entrance for to-go orders, which I think can help at busy times. We went at 7pm on a Monday and had to wait almost 30 minutes, so clearly business is booming. The brick walls and high ceilings give it a nice look, making the building seem older than it is. We did have a bit of a confusing time when it came to actually ordering and eating. We started off with one waitress who took our orders and then had another one take over halfway through. She apologized for the drinks taking so long even though it really wasn't a long wait. Ordering the food was an issue. We had 6 people; 3 were sharing a pizza and one of those also ordered a side salad. I had the salmon, which came with a salad and two sides (I chose steak fries and veggies, which I was told were green beans, carrots, and broccoli). The other 2 ordered shrimp, fried mozz, and a caprese salad (no basil and no peppers), and a chicken dish with soup and mashed potatoes. Ok? It seems like a lot -- except the waitress wrote it down and I am reciting this from memory. First came the side salads. We had an overflowing plate full of lettuce, with 6 rings of red onion, 1 sliced olive, and 2 cherry tomatoes. There may have been a green bell pepper in there somewhere but I didn't see it. Very, very bland and boring side salad. The shrimp, mozz, and caprese came next. The shrimp were HUGE, to be fair, except she dropped one and had to bring a fresh one later. The mozz looked fine. The caprese had peppers on it, so she swapped it out. Then came the pizza and the chicken. No salmon. She said to me "Are you sure you only wanted the side salad?" and I had to remind her that I had ordered the salmon. By the time it showed up (sans steak fries, and with broccoli rabe, mushrooms, and garlic instead of the veggies I had been told), the pizza was almost gone. At this point I didn't want to send her back for another missing item from our table. I had to ask 3 times for refills on my water; usually they come around with a pitcher to refill automatically. Finally, we got our check. One couple at the table had requested a separate check when we first sat down. We were not surprised when we saw they had not gotten a separate check. It wasn't a big deal, but it was another hiccup in our experience. The food was good when it finally arrived. The timing was definitely off; I know it's hard to serve 6 people at the same time, but you should at least try to get the entrees out together so half of the table isn't done eating before others have gotten their food. I've been here now 3 times since they've relocated and re-opened. I'm sort of surprised they kept the same name since the place looks completely different than the old location. I've been pretty pleased with the food I've tried there so far. 2 weeks ago, my friend and I split a medium pizza (probably could've gone with a smaller one but oh well). My half was just cheese/sauce and he got sausage on his half. It was tasty and not sooty and plenty filling. This week I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and while it could've used a bigger buffalo-to-bleu-cheese ratio, overall it was pretty good. I've only sat on the bar side but the whole place is huge, very spacious. I like the furniture and their choice of a dark color palette. They even have 2 (very nice) bathrooms! My only critique is that we've sat at the bar twice and sometimes it's tough to get the attention of the bartender(s) because the bar is very long. Yesterday I had to wait extra time while people who came up to the bar got served before us, though we'd been sitting there. I've been going for trivia nights and have no qualms about continuing to go there! read more

But we never had their wings or fries before because we always order wings from Buffalo Wild Wings so we finally decided to give JRoos wings a chance. EXTREMELY disappointed!! We asked for the wings to be extra crispy and ordered curly fries and blue cheese on the side. The wings were SUPER soft. Not crispy at all!! Curly fries were soggy. And I don't know what kind of blue cheese that is that they serve but it was the most gross blue cheese we have ever tasted in our lives! After coming a second time, I'm less impressed with this place. We came by on a Monday evening, the place looked like it was a little over half full. Despite not being full however, the service was very slow; the food was a little slow, but more importantly the times the waitress came by were few and far between (which leads me to believe the food wait had nothing to do with the kitchen). I would totally understand if the restaurant was full, but it really wasn't crowded by any means. As far as food goes, I wasn't as impressed as last time either. I got the McRoo's pizza (beef, onions, pickles?, and a BBQ sauce mix), which was fine but not great. I wasn't sure what to expect from pickles on a pizza, but I'd say stay away in the future. I also had a slice of the mac & cheese pizza, which again was fine but I've had better. I wouldn't be opposed to returning, but given the normal crowding and food that's just okay, it's not going to be my first choice. read more

Even though I lived in this neck of the woods for so long, I never went here because it didn't have the greatest reputation or look. Was pleasantly surprised by the recent remodel. My friend is gluten free all her life and they had a small menu for her. She had a steak and cheese wrap with a side salad and I had an open face prime rib sandwich with a side of au jus and a side salad. Food was ok, service was pleasant and prices were nice. I have not done a review in a while, but I have got to sit down and do a shout out to this company! J Roo's has increased its value 100%! Now I was at this restaurant before they renovated and brought in the new restaurant feel and the food was not as good as it is now. Since returning in the last couple weeks, I have really enjoyed the staff, the restaurant is beautiful and the food taste even better! I have had a few of their appetizers but the pizza is second to none! It seems like they hand cut the meat because it is nice and thick. Try a pizza with bacon on it the bacon is nice and meaty you can taste it in every bite. My nieces Love great food so I wanted them to try this restaurant and if he can feed a family of five with one pizza and even the two-year-old tell you this is good, it's darn good! My family gave this restaurant a thumbs up and we will be inviting many more people here. Another little plug, I like the fact that they sectioned off the restaurant so those that want to be in the bar area can. For those who want to be a family dining can enjoy there conversations and then you can actually see them making the pizza as they have a large to go section; then they have a even small rental section where you can have parties. This was from quite a while ago but it still bugs me to this day!. I ordered a large cheese bacon and garlic pizza. I asked them to not cut it because I was going to go home a heat it up a little later. They were very busy but I asked the manager to go over to pizza guy and make sure it would not be cut. She went over right next to the guy, who cut it right in front of her! She taped up the box knowing it was cut and didn't let me know. I waited over an hour so I took it home. I put it in oven on a round large pizza stone that was still a little small, when I tried to take out of the oven it fell everywhere on the burners etc!. I decided to never go back to to complete idiocy and deceit! Great way to lose a customer by being a complete dishonorable idiot, instead of at least telling me you screwed up! read more

As always food was fantastic. We came in on a night where there were a couple parties. Judy our server was incredible in communicating any issues with the back etc. she even went so far as to tell the kitchen how we liked our nachos back in the old days and the kitchen did awesome.
