They bent my bRand new rim in several places. Not to mention the two bulges he put in the rim from using the pry bar. I paid for the service and the man told me he could spray paint. I said no. On the way home I had the tire with me in my front seat and all of a sudden a burst of air shot out of the tire. No way I was putting this on my kids atv. Took it back and explained how air just shot out of the tire and I don't feel safe installing. I ask for a refund because the work was very shotty and he ruined my wheel. He said he didn't work for free. The end result he gave me back the 10 bucks I paid him. Never again. I attached pictures

They smogged my car in just 25 minutes and I was hesitant that they would try to fail me, because I hard that's a common theme with all smog shops but they totally didn't, cheap, quick, honest service, I'll be recommending everyone to go here :)

These kind humans take pictures of the damage and kindly explain what is going on with your car in each image. Every single person I spoke to here was kind, and I felt comfortable. They let me store my car here, and recommended a place to buy it for parts. They did not overcharge me.... They definitely undercharged, and had a lot of compassion for my situation. I wish I could a shop in Oregon that I could rely on like this.

The alternator on my truck suddenly died and just like that, what was promising to be a fun trip, turned into a nightmare. More than just needing work, the alternator on this one is mounted on the bottom, behind the engine, right over the exhaust. While I do pretty much anything myself, I was on the road, far from home, and this job required big tools. If you are in such a situation, reading my review, you know the feeling. Trapped. Unlike my home auto repair market L.A. that is very saturated with such businesses, here in Redding, it seemed there is almost no where to go. And everyone was asking... let's just say an amount that would make an entire LaBrea (LA) come out of their shops and say "WTH? We can charge that?". But I kept searching. And I have found Steve. May I say "Fair Price"? Now, I know, I know. I thought so too. But, I had a pleasure of chatting with some of the local shops before I found Steve, (spent an entire previous day), so, I already knew better. Steve's shop looks like a normal auto shop is supposed to look, if you know what I mean. I liked that. I always want that. And was at the shop, met me personally, looked at everything, made some tests to be certain, and took the job. He showed me exactly which brand of the alternator he is going to install, and that was the one I would have chosen myself. And he kept his word and charged me exactly by the quote. No tricks whatsoever (trust me, I know them all, been around auto repair for a long time). He has two good mechanics there and the job was done perfectly. I like small details, and I always want the repair done right, I demand that from myself and from others. I looked over my truck after the repair, and I found myself to be completely satisfied. Nothing was forgotten, nothing broken, nothing put back the wrong way. Like a factory. Now, to me the price and quality matters, of course, I am just like everyone else. But, I tell you even more important is the quality of the man and his word. I always try to find the shop that is owned by the man who will stand behind his reputation. Steve is the man. If you have found yourself needing honest and qualified mechanical assistance, - my good advice to you is go see Steve. I have a female relative there in Redding, and it is always a big deal which shop do you trust enough to send her to. Well, she ll be going to Frank's S & S Auto Repair, I can tell you that. Is the owner, Rick, charming? Yes. Does he explains everything in detail. Yes. Does he change…read morethings without contacting customer. YES. I had R&R rebuild my 1991 suzuki sidekick. $9000. They sent the engine to A & I. So initially when I decided to do this little adventure with Rick and Kevin all was well. I mean there were some red flags, like not getting back to me ever, everything taking FOREVER, and a bit of the mansplaining but I let it slide. When we started the rebuild Rick wanted to replace the clutch. He had a certain one in mind which was higher performance. We also assumed new alternator and starter as both were failing. So I called every few weeks and it was taking a while and then the day finally comes and we go get her. Rick shows us some stuff and off we go. We are supposed to put 500 miles on and come back. We get home and park. There is oil dripping out everywhere. I call and they tell me that they started it without an oil plug in and it blew clean new oil all over the engine. No, they didn't clean it up but I can bring it back and they will. Next day I try to start it to do that...won't start. When it finally starts it is making a horrible squeal. Shut it off immediately. Call Kevin and he says I should have it towed in. I should. They came and got it after I was like nope dont think so. So before they come get it we are looking under the hood...they didn't replace the old ass starter, the alternator ( original 1991) or the clutch. I ask Rick about clutch and he says to me, i couldn't find the one I (he) wanted. Im like wtf. I ask about the other things and he says if we did all that it would be too expensive. So I want these parts replaced. I think asking the customer WHILE YOU HAVE THE ENGINE OUT might be your play but Rick didnt think so I guess. So my partner goes down to shop and says hey...we want the new parts but we dont think we should pay shop time just pay parts. This is because, again, they had the engine out, they could have called us to ok parts or not but chose not too. The next week I talk with Rick about a time line, he says has to order parts. I call the next week he says parts will be in Tuesday. So I call back (parts should have arrived Tuesday I call wednesday). Kevin says it will be three more weeks. I ask why and he talks about getting it back on the lift etc. I mention to Kevin what Rick said about parts in by Tuesday so why 3 more weeks and Kevin gets upset says he can have Rick call me but I noped out of that because at this point Rick is being a dick about the whole thing. So Kevin calls my partner the next day to say car is ready. No idea what happened to 3 weeks because he didnt call ME about MY vehicle even though I am the only one who has signed anything or paid anything. Whatever. I call Kevin back to get the total.... $960...wtf? Partner calls Rick and he literally has a little tantrum on the phone (it was on speaker phone):and says fine you dont owe anything. I would have left it there but my partner went down and paid for the parts that they jacked up (doubled) the price on. So my take on the whole thing is that Rick and Kevin are nice if you never challenge them or ask them to take responsibility for anything they fucked up. What a shame. Hard pass on this place.
