Whether it is burlesque posters in the front room or hot dog kitsch in the back, it is never a dull moment for the visual senses as you wait a short time for your order. They have at least 10 distinct dog combos with the Syra and its grilled mushrooms and Swiss cheese making it tasty with or without catchup. The dogs are great, the fries are fantastic - hand cut that day, soaked in water to pull out the starch and then twice fried, they are a gift that keeps on giving, especially when you opt for the loads of roughly chopped fresh garlic. I ended up getting a burger and hot dog, both were on a toasted bread, which is a little bit unique. Loved that the menu is pretty pickle-forward. Flavors were on-point, the bread could have been a little less-firm, but maybe it's because I took a couple minutes to step to my burger and it firmed up like drier toast. Kind of wished I got the chili dog, but was completely stuffed before the end of the meal, so wasn't able to further gorge. Hard to get street parking, and no parking lot. This is cash only establishment and very small. I was greeted immediately and placed my order to go. I ordered 2 hot dogs with chili, slaw & onions with a can of RC Cola. Paid my $5 putting the assorted coins of change into tip jar. Stood back against wall to wait patiently. The cook is extremely busy on his flat top, flipping burgers and whipping around like a weird dance...he has this to a science...very quick and orderly...you can tell this was not his first rodeo. The room was full of about 12 men, seated at squared counter top on stools laughing and chatting like winded up Chatty Cathy dolls. They were assorted styles of uniforms...policemen, city workers and Suits...everyone loves a good dog and burger!! She put my food into bag to hand me. She smiled and said "I'm sorry but we ran out of slaw'. I have to admit some disappointing news but not a deal breaker. Don't get me wrong, to me it's not a hot dog unless fully dressed with Chili, Slaw & onions...but hey I like Chili Dogs too. Thanked her and left with my brown lunch bag of Hot Steaming Goodness!!! Now it isn't uncomfortably spicy but you get some burn. Secondly, the chili is THICK! (My pic showed my spoon standing up in the chili). The chili dog was good, probably the same chili, as it was not a coney. I'm used to a coney sauce with a bit more onion but theirs was good. Service was excellent as our waitress took care of our table and others near us. The environment was not quiet, it bordered on loud but we could carry on conversations.
