When I first moved in, there was no gate, but now there is which can be kind of a good thing but also a pain in the ass if you're trying to order a pizza or have a party because you have to go all the way outside just to let each person in. They tell you that you get a "yard" which is the saddest excuse for a yard I've ever seen. You can't fit anything in it, and the only thing it would be useful for is a dog to go outside and poop in, but sadly they don't allow pets. They also don't allow smoking in the apartments or anywhere on the property. If they catch you doing it, they will threaten to kick you out. That's a downfall too because that's just about the only thing you would want to do outside on your 4x4 foot itty bitty patio where you aren't allowed to have a grill. Yes, the yard and the patio are the two most pointless parts about this complex. The parking is pretty much the worst situation imaginable. Most people don't even park in their garages, they just use it as another living room. The garages are ridiculously small. They claim to be 2-car garages, which is fine if you have two mini coopers. I'm not sure how they did the measurements here, but if you are lucky enough to fit your vehicles in the garage, you have to do an 8-point turn just to get it in there since the buildings are so close together. The saddest thing I've seen though is the people who signed their leases and have trucks and you see that they can't even close the garage at night because the front of the truck is sticking out of the garage. I just feel so sorry for them because they didn't know. They didn't know... The best part is that we scratched both my girl's car and my car trying to maneuver our cars into this ridiculous situation. Thousands of dollars of paint jobs are in our future. The inside isn't so bad. You get three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The kitchen is kinda nice too, but everything else in here is so poorly done. The walls are thin and the paint is so cheap you can just rub something on it and it stains or comes right off. The door stoppers just fall out of the wall... ugh it was a nightmare. For $1400 a month we got what we paid for... The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because of the liquor store that I could walk to across the street. That made it easy to not have to drive anywhere when I ran out of beer. Oh also, there is a washer/dryer and air conditioning. You might not want to use them though because somehow the meters here RIP YOU OFF and we had consecutive $300/month SDG&E bills. No, I am not exaggerating.

Weird people walk around there at night. And unfortunately if you have friends/family come over they have to park on the side of the road which unfortunately again is always full of cars because unfortunately the living rooms and hallways that go up to the living rooms are so narrow that you can't move in average size furniture so unfortunately people use their 2 car garages as the living room which by the way these garages are pretty ridiculously small and the driveway to the garages is so narrow it is even more ridiculous to try to park in there without doing a 10 point turn. Fact: Your 2 car garage just became your living room. Fact: You now park either in 1 of the 3 parking spots in the gated part of the complex (good luck finding one) or park on the street. Fact. Friends/family come over park way the hell down the road and walk in this sketchy part of town to your gate where they wait for you to open because it is locked. And if it is dark they could potentially be in danger and be frightened. Fact: Your friends/family will no longer want to come and visit. Second off.. they remodeled this place with freaking cardboard. The walls are super thin so UNFORTUNATELY I can even hear neighbors alarm clocks and figure out what they are watching on TV. A stalkers dream. The paint ON the walls chips off when the wind blows. It is ridiculous. Anything can mark this paint too. We got a couple black marks from moving our MINI japanese pleather couches up the stairs because that was the only thing that could fit. So I decided to use a rag with water to try to get rid of the damn marks. Well the paint washed right off. Fact: THE WALLS ARE THINNER THAN AN ANOREXIC CHICK! Fact: THE PAINT WASHES OFF WITH WATER! WTF?!? Third off and finally.. THE MANAGEMENT SUCKS MONKEY NUTS! They are rude, annoying, deceiving, conniving and overall screw you over big time assholes. Side note: Things you can not do in your complex: Smoke, not even out in front, not on your patio, not at all. Pets, not a fish, not a snail, nothing, zip, zilch. Wash clothes after 10PM, because the walls are so thin you cannot wash your own goddamn clothes in your own goddamn apartment. Fact: I would never move in here again I would rather be homeless.

Island Inn is a hotel/low income housing/micro apartment…read more My husband and I lived here for a year and seven months. We moved out on 8/4/19. I don't know how anyone could give Island Inn 5 stars. One of the reviews is from someone who stayed for a very short time and a couple are from 3 years ago and 7 years. Maybe things have just worsened in that time. The good: Most of the employees are helpful and nice. Tina and Cesar are awesome! About half of the tenants are nice, polite, good people. The units are relatively cheap. We were paying $245/week. *The costs and inconveniences far outweigh the cheap rent. Everything else: Elevators: One of the elevators is out of service about once a week and it's usually the only one that goes to the garage. There is only one elevator that goes to the garage. Tenants play this stupid game where if that elevator is going up and it stops on their floor they won't get on it until it's going down....even though they have to get on it at some point anyway. It's wastes everyone's time. It's why it sometimes takes forever to get an elevator. Tenants: Half the tenants in the building have no concept of manners. If you are waiting on the front desk person, they will just go to the side of the desk and ask to get their request in first. Some will also, get on the elevator before anyone can get off. People have played loud music on the patio, left the patio door open where bugs can get in, and left their trash in the hallway. The Laundry Room: In order to do your laundry, you have to buy a laundry card and load it with cash. I've had the machine eat my cash and have used it on unknowingly broken machines. A couple of the driers wouldn't dry the clothes even after two dry cycles. Someone stole our laundry even though there are cameras in the laundry room and I was never able get it back or even find out who took it. Tracking down the manager after this and trying to get them to go through footage to find the person took forever. Even after "checking" the footage, apparently they couldn't find out who it was. After this situation, I had to watch my laundry. So, I took my laptop and sat at the table. I had a verbally abusive old woman try to bully me out of my seat and when I refused to give it up she verbally harassed me until her laundry was done. Parking: Parking is expensive at $42/week. The spots are really small and they allow cars to park with a motorcycle behind them. It's already very difficult to park. I've been scolded a few times by a maintenance guy for "driving too fast" and going to wrong way. Unfortunately, parking in some of the spots requires going the wrong way and even backing in. Electricity: I couldn't use my stovetop cooker and my microwave at the same time or the electricity would go out. Internet: The apartment "comes with" internet and cable, but our unit didn't get a great signal and we had to spring for paid internet. Mini fridge: The mini fridge doesn't keep food like a normal fridge does. My food was spoiling in about 4-5 days. In order for you to keep anything frozen, you have to crank the freezer up almost all the way, but then you'll find your freezer items get freezer burnt very quickly. Pest Control: Plan on having to leave your apartment for a couple hours and taking your animal with you once a month midweek midday for pest control. Paying Rent: They are switching to online system soon, but you have to physically go down to the front desk and hope someone there can help you. Only certain people are allowed to take rent payments. If they aren't there or if they are on break, you're out of luck. You can't pay after 10pm either. Maintenance: Our bathtub was patched 3 times, because it had cracked and was leaking into the apartment below us. Even after three patches, Island Inn refused to fix the bathtub properly even after they had brought in someone for an estimate. Maintenance told me I couldn't take a bath anymore. Lease: They tried to be sneaky and change the lease terms on us. They had residents sign when they stopped by the front desk. I asked to take it home and refused to sign it. It had a lot of ridiculous rules like not being able to cook on a stovetop. Deposits: Make sure you get receipts if you turn in items that you don't want to have in your place like sheets, tv, etc. They don't write anything down. Also, keep all paperwork on deposits, because I almost didn't get my refund for the deposit I put down for the garage key fob, when I was checking out.

The search stopped immediately once I found Park View as it met all of my (somewhat high) expectations for an apartment. I stumbled across Park View while running one day and thought, "this place is so beautiful. I doubt there's any rooms available, but I'll give it a shot." The next day I called Meagan Wahoff, the Community Manager, and she was ready to give me a tour that same day! Meagan is extremely thorough, receptive and accommodating to people's needs. She went above and beyond to ensure my move-in went smoothly. The units are spacious (tall ceilings) and modern with large windows for lots of natural light. Park View itself is CLEAN and well taken care of, especially the landscaping, pool and lounge areas. My favorite part about living at Park View are the details -- the artwork, light fixtures, even the closet doors. You can tell everything was thought about with such care and detail. Pros: * Pool * Walking distance to restaurants, cafes, Trader Joe's & Whole Foods * AC, designated parking spot, laundry room, bike storage room, additional outside storage * Elias and his maintenance team Cons: * Proximity to the freeway (noisy!)

I even took a trip down to county records to pull maps of the property and surrounding areas to show how Sleepy Hollow corporate management was responsible for cleaning up that camp as it DIRECTLY impacted my health and safety. At first I got the run-around, then I was gaslit. It took a second letter in which I threatened to involve governmental agencies for them to do what should have been a minimum requirement according to local laws and the terms in my lease. It was an unbelievable experience from start to finish, and when they tried to make me into a "bad guy" by making stuff up about me personally (eg. claiming I laughed during a meeting when I was as serious as a heart attack), that's when I knew it was time for me to leave this dump and their amateur management behind. I could go on with non-stop plumbing issues, car break-ins and other maintenance snafus, along with the fact that no one gets all of their deposit back, but I am long gone from there and this is my final bit of closure. When they tried to shut me up during the homeless camp fire fiasco, one of the managers said to me, "Maybe the Sleepy Hollow is not the place for you." Well, they got one thing right at least. Again, it was the worst place I have ever lived in San Diego. I'm surprised I put up with it for 3 years. So glad I am gone!

As with most organizations, Aquatera's greatness starts with the people. You'll meet Gustavo, Stephen, and Paige first. The kindness you feel coming from them? That's not a facade; that's Aquatera. They genuinely care. I don't know what H.G. Fenton is doing differently from companies like Essex, but it must have something to do with prioritizing people over profit. My move-in experience was completely stress free. (Another first.) The unit was immaculate, and everything was in perfect working condition. The entire community of Aquatera has been meticulously and flawlessly designed, from the ground up - from the astounding amenities to the generous floor plans and the highest quality appliances and building materials - making it the ultimate leasing experience.
