I have to admit I'm pretty bad at writing reviews when warranted (I know I need to work on this.) However, this one deserves a few minutes of my time. Five years ago, J Style remodel our kitchen and the end result was stunning. So, when we needed to remodel two bathrooms in our SF home, we were lucky to learn J Style was available to take on the project. Not only did Jania and Cris' team meet our expectations, they far exceeded them again. From the start, they really spent time asking questions about how we live and what's important to us . Then they went to work. The plan and execution was amazing! We are beyond happy and will definitely be working with them (and team) in the future. Janina and her team at J-Style at Home did an exceptional job on my kitchen remodel. Every aspect of the process, from interest, conception, design, and execution, was done professionally within a timely manner. My husband and I did a lot of research before remodeling our kitchen, so we knew what we wanted in our new kitchen, but Janina did an excellent job translating these thoughts into reality. We immediately felt very comfortable with her; she is easy to speak and work with. There is no hard sell, pressure, or false promises, which makes working with her a very positive, easy, and pleasant experience. They are good at their word. After researching various options we decided to work with this family run, well established home design company. Designer and co-owner Janina Cabrera listened to our goals and color scheme and presented very well conceived plans that were within our budget and design ideas. The entire process from beginning to a timely finish was executed attractively by J styles who crafted beautiful, well made cabinets in addition to all the other remodeling elements that were executed by teams of highly skilled personnel throughout the entire construction. The crew was very respectful of our house which was appreciated since we both work at home. Each team delivered consistent results and responded appropriately when any minor repairs needed to be addressed. I've been a Brisbane resident since 2003 and absolutely love living here! When J-Style at Home opened its doors in 2006, I had no idea what type of business it was --- nor did I take the time to find out. After years of driving by their location I learned, in 2019, that J-Style at Home designed custom cabinetry. After a somewhat satisfactory experience in 2018 with another custom cabinetry business my interest was piqued and I was excited to know more about J-Style at Home. In July of 2019 I was brainstorming ideas about enhancing an area of my kitchen that was under utilized. This area already had a nice size window that afforded the eat in area with lots of light. After much detailed thought and excitement, I paid J-Style an impromptu visit and had an opportunity to meet briefly with Janina. From there a consultation was scheduled and a detailed schematic of my vision was eventually presented inclusive with a proposal. My husband and I were completely on board with the proposal and didn't hesitate to schedule a start date for our project which began in August and ended November 26, 2019. J-Style constructed a window bench that was complimented by upper and lower cabinets (to left & right of the bench) --- And finishing off counter tops (lower cabinets) in marble. This beautiful addition has greatly enhanced our kitchen! I must add though, that while our custom window bench and cabinets were being constructed --- I presented Janina with another idea for our kitchen which involved her team to spray paint the base of our kitchen island and our family room fireplace mantle and hearth a deep rich slate grey. We couldn't be happier! Everything is a stunningly fluid from the kitchen to our family room. What we appreciated most from start to finish was their professionalism, communication throughout the process, and their conscientious and affable team of workers. Janina was always responsive to all of my questions and worked with our budget. My vision was seen to fruition... And we love that J-Style at Home is located right in our own backyard. It was a great experience working with Jania Cabrera and her team at J-Style at home, they were very proffessional and commited to my kitchen remodeling project; they met all the deadlines we had agreed on. As a designer, Jania brought great ideas to my project to make my kitchen 100% more functional and great looking. Beware of this company, they gave great sales pitch and pre-sale activity and that's about all you would get. The biggest mistake I made in my remodeling process was to have chosen J-Style as the cabinet maker. Jania was great in her sales process, but she was not careful with her proposal and you needed to read it very carefully. Their installation was quite pricey, but it would have been fine if the job was done carefully and sorry to say, we ended up paying our contractor to repair. Once design was done by Jania, it was passed over to manufacturing, which was managed by her brother, they would not communicate, so what you got at the end might not be the same piece you were expecting. They would also nickel-and-dime you every single step along the way. This is my first yelp review because someone needs to know about this company of their business ethics. By the way, they aren't cheap and their quality is equivalent to "make in China" product, their dove drawer is only 1/2" thickness, not the custom 5/8" thinkness that all other decent custom cabinetry makers will do. If there a zero star, this would have been the place where they belong. read more

Unlike other industries where professionalism and service are held in high regard, home remodel vendors treat customers like transactions instead of partners. That was NOT my experience with Janina, who earns 5 stars. My wife and I recently did a home remodel. We were looking for a custom look and therefore, were very picky with colors, finishes and designs. JStyle at Home did 2 bathrooms, a powder room, an media cabinet and my kitchen. We regularly receive complements on them. Throughout the project, Janina was courteous and generous with her time. Janina provided varied and interesting colors and executed on difficult cabinet designs ( like a semi-circle powder room vanity). So why not 5 stars then? I've got to deduct one point for the backend processes. With any customer cabinet project, there are going to be some quality problems. There were some communication issues with the service manager that delayed the finishing touches (but not the overall installation). The good thing is that, as a business owner, Janina listens and has added the appropriate staff since our project. read more

JaninaCabrera, the designer at J-Style at Home designed our small kitchen to look twice as large from the orignal foot print without doing any structural work. Our kitcken was in the 1950 area and now it is a H&G photo - 2014 and years to come; designed for a person that loves to cook!! The cabinet work was of top notch quality and structure. J-Style just completed 2 bathroom remodels with us, including a double vanity, a medicine cabinet, a large custom linen cabinet and a radius cabinet to house a sink. The designs were beautiful thoughtful and functional. We were really able to maximize our space utilization. It was clear the designer listened very carefully to our needs and wants. Every effort was made to give us unique quality products. At the end of the project, we were having trouble with our contractor. J-Style installed items the contractor had agreed to do for no charge. The employees stayed late and came the day after Christmas to make sure our job was done asap. read more

We used J-Style, who work out of New Century Kitchen and Granite, to design and build a custom double vanity along with a mirror and medicine cabinet. The communication was very poor, and while we ended up with a decent piece at a decent price, it was not without a lot of bumps. Towards the end of the project they basically wanted nothing to do with us and wanted to just deliver the piece and stop helping. It was especially annoying that because we did not want to pay their exorbitant installation fee (we had our contractors do it) they would not help us any more with the placement of the sinks and faucets. They could not even provide simple drawings to make a template. However, the thing that really ticks us off is that they were TWO HOURS late to deliver the piece on a Friday evening, causing our contractor to stay late, and they did not apologize or offer to offset the overtime we paid our contractor to sit around for them. They insisted that we should feel lucky they delivered at all. There are plenty of other custom cabinet builders, and many of them need work. Would look elsewhere. read more

I was referred by a friend and went to J-Style to have my beautiful solid mahogany bedroom set over hauled and modernized for my young son. I said I wanted the bedroom set to be a shimmery dark grey with chunky soft edged solid brushed nickel drawer pulls and that the paint needed to withstand years of heavy use for a growing and active boy. Janina and Cristian were extremely knowledgable and provided me with painted grey wood samples and a vast array of nickel hardware choices. They also very clearly communicated to me that because mahogany wood has a lot of red color in it the bedroom set would need to be primed, painted, and glazed to achieve the look I was going for. The entire process took about 3 weeks and Janina and Cristian frequently gave me updates on the status of my order. I was very anxious to see the final product and my furniture was delivered on Saturday. I could not have been more pleased with the quality of their work. The bed, side table, and dresser came out beautifully in exact shade of grey I wanted with just gorgeous hardware. I feel that you get what you pay for here... Excellent quality with an intelligently run and trustworthy family business.... I am already working with them again to re-finish my dining room table!!! read more
