I needed a small piece of tile to replace a portion that the installer messed up The tile is 48 x 48" but thankfully Claudia suggested I can use a 12" x 24" sample piece that was provided by the manufacturer . This saved me a lot of money and an unnecessary purchase because I would not have used the full 48 x 48" tile She saved me about $400 because I did not need the full piece . Overall a very good experience with Cornerstone on purchasing and installing quartz countertop in our new kitchen. I found this place on Yelp and shopped between two places in the same area for countertops, Cornerstone coming in the cheaper option surprisingly (considering Cornerstone had a lot of reviews on Yelp). We walked in on a Saturday with no appointment and even though it was busy, we were able to talk to a sales rep, Albert. Albert was informative but wasn't invasive of questions or pushing us on a sale, so that was nice. He was able to give us a quote same day and also provided us options of quartz that was within our budget. When we decided to go with Cornerstone, scheduling the template was simple, waited a couple of weeks and then installation was a breeze. Later in our project, we worked more with Claudia during template and installation and she too was nice. There were times when communication was not clear on my end, however Cornerstone team always pulled through and were dependable. I don't know if it was because I was more neurotic during the renovation and wanted more clarity, however in hindsight, Cornerstone team was great. Can't say much regarding the other products/services from Cornerstone, but I did not end up buying a kitchen sink from them, as I found a cheaper option elsewhere. We are doing a kitchen/ bathroom remodel. We purchased our countertops from cornerstone, specifically working with Albert Chan and contracted them to do the installation. Things seemed to go smoothly. However, they made a huge mistake regarding placement of the sink hole. In spite of having the hole drawn out correctly on the plywood, they measured and cut the hole too far to the back making it impossible to place the faucets we chose in the tiny space left. They made no effort to check if this would work even though my contractor asked them to check. (Faucets were left there for this reason) My contractor and I tried contacting them many times to resolve this. Albert assured me he would respond right away. No one got back to us until so much time had passed that I was forced to dispute the charge. The amount of time and effort it took to finally resolve the matter with cornerstone was not worth doing business with them. Terrible customer service! Any company looks good when every thing goes as planned. It's when it doesn't that you see whether the company is truly worth doing business with. read more

Needed a new kitchen faucet. The last one was, apparently, a crap brand and hot clogged with sediment. We talked with a sales rep, told him our problem, and said we wanted a faucet that would last us a while. He directed us to a Brize faucet. It looked good and he said, even with the current CA water flow restrictions, that this one would meet out need sand expectations. He found one of the few in stock and got us set up. It was pricey but the last one did t seem cheap and turned our tone crap. The faucet arrived with a few days. Sales rep also recommended someone to install it. Waiting for an install quote/date. Met with Albert, he showed me the new showroom and the quartz countertops that would potentially fit my kitchen cabinets. From there, he gave me a quote that was reasonable, and even recommended a great handyman for some of the plumbing/other work that I needed to get done around the house. My whole experience with Cornerstone was really great, and I also appreciated the fact that Albert even followed up after the project was completed to make sure that everything was OK. We worked with Cat, one of their designers, and she was amazing throughout the entire process from early design iterations through installation. One star for the Asian guy in front who gave us a brief walk through when we arrived 15 min before before closing. He was friendly and helpful, and it looked like they had lots of options. We made an appointment to come back to look at tile with Marion. We spent over an hour picking out stuff with her and she did not seem knowledgeable at all. It was also frustrating, as there is no pricing on any of the tile so we had no idea if what we were looking at was in our budget or not. I would show Marion examples of things we liked and she would show us options that were completely different. She told us she would send our quote the next day, but it's been 4 weeks and we are still waiting....... It was a complete waste of time to come back and work with Marion. read more

I had a very small job for my shower. I couldn't get anyone to reply to me (including Cornerstone) and I noticed Cornerstone had a showroom in SSF. I stopped by there on Wednesday, 12/21 and was directed to Claudia. I explained the situation to her, she called one of the installers, and told me someone would stop by my house Friday, 12/23 at 2pm to take a look at the issue. If he could fix it on the spot, he would. 2pm 12/23 rolls around, no call, no show. I called Claudia at about 2:20pm and she said she would call the installer and call me back. At about 3:40pm, I called back and Claudia said she gave my number to the installer and he would call me. No call at all. Tuesday, 12/26, I call the showroom and they're closed all week for the holiday. Understandable. Claudia's voicemail box is full so I left a message with someone else. Wednesday, 1/4/17. I call the showroom in the morning and no answer. I try multiple extensions and no answer. Claudia's voicemail box is still full. I called again in the afternoon and spoke to someone (didn't get his name). He took my name and number down and said Claudia would call me back. Guess what....NO CALL! Thursday, 1/5/17. I stop at the showroom on my way to work. Claudia is not there yet. I speak with 2 people at the back of the showroom, explained the situation, and I was given Benson's (the owner) cell phone number. I called Benson, explained the situation. He called his installer and said he would be by Saturday morning, 1/7/17 between 8-9am. He said it would take 1-2 hours and charged me $200. Fine. I just wanted to get it done. Saturday, 1/7/17. 2 guys show up (Jose & Adan). For the most part, they did OK. The caulking was very smooth, but there were gaps. They finished the job in less than an hour (maybe around 45 minutes). 2 workers, less than 1hr, $200 for "OK" work. Was it worth it? Nope. Especially considering the fact that now I need to buy some caulk and patch it up. (I didn't want to have to wait around for them again for a 10 minute fix of something they should've gotten right the first time). read more

We used Cornerstone to source tile and bathroom fixtures for our double bath/kitchen remodel last summer, and they were great! Getting started on a remodeling project is difficult for a first-timer like me, and Cornerstone was a perfect starting place. They have a great, but not overwhelming, well-curated selection of tiles, flooring, countertops, and fixtures, so it's a great place to browse for ideas. When you're ready to get down to business, they have many knowledgeable salespeople who will work with you to build a purchase list. To me, getting building materials, cabinets, faucets is a once in 20 years deal, but finding the right one is critical or otherwise, you be bitter for the rest of the 20 years. Price: This is pretty much the reason I came to this place. After doing almost a year of research while the architect designing the house, my wife and I pretty much figure this is the place to go. We got Calecutta gold (white marble), quartz stone for kitchen and bathrooms, very very awesome looking tiles for bathrooms and unique tiles for flooring... these place is amazing. I'm paying for a quarter of the price of what Porcelanosa and Ceasar stone charges. Of coures, all depends on what you need but price is very very good. Don't trust me, should just go and check. Service: Price was what brought us there, but we were pleasantly surprise for what we got out of this place. We worked with Benson Fong, he's very knowledgeable, and that's important because he knew more than what my contractor which is a big construction firm and have over 20 years of building high end homes but Benson has saved us from a lot of potential problems. He helped us picked the right jacuzzi tub, certain kind of faucets and the most amazing thing is follow up on everything. We had some manufacture malfunction on one Hansgrohe valve for shower, drinking faucet from WaterInc, and one Grohe soap dispenser. He took care of it for us, he communicate with the manufacturer, got the solution, have them send in the parts (or replacement). Viola! Taken care of. Trust me, when you build or remodel a home, it's priceless, cause you're too stress to deal with any surprises. Pros: 1. Great Price 2. Great service - design advice, resourceful (He found us someone to custom made and great looking design handles which cost less than HomeDepot), problem solving/quality ensurance. 3. Selections - I have to admit, some of their stuff is more traditional than I want but they got so many new contemporary designs (our house is a contemporary design) that really makes a difference if you are looking to build a contemporary home with a budget... it doesn't happen, cause they are very expensive as long as they have "contemporary" on it. Cons: 1. Respond time - I need to be upfront, some of the respond time on issues we have with some of our manufacture malfunction is not going to be instant. I want to be frank too because I don't think it's their faults if the rep from the manufacturer doesn't get back to him, then he can't get back to me. Overall, I'm very happy with the experience at Cornerstone. Building a house is stressful and I have to say Benson and Cornerstone have made life easier for us. read more

We walked into Cornerstone and were helped immediately picking out different countertop options and got a quote that same day. Albert was very helpful to ensure we got the exact color and piece that we wanted and it looked amazing. The Cornerstone team was great coming out to our house to template the design and installing the countertops a week later. They are beautiful and we couldn't be happier! 2nd UPDATE: we finalized the project. We had multiple issues overall, but Cornerstone was able to take responsibility and fix them all, so that the final result was great at the end. I cannot give it 5 stars given there were ups and downs in this project, but we are working with them again for our next project, which is a good sign of where we landed. UPDATE: after posting this review, Benson (owner) reached out, immediately fixed the issues with the invoices and came to my home to give instructions to our contractors as part of the after sale project management. That is the kind of great service that made us choose Cornerstone HD for our projects, so I am updating the review to 3 stars. I will update again the review once the projects are fulling finished. -- We really want to like this place. They did initially amazingly well and much better than any other place we went, but they are making many mistakes and lowering the quality of service we initially got after we committed and paid the deposits. We are spending over $50,000 and here how it has gone so far: - Kitchen consultation and design (5 stars): great suggestions, many options and customization, drove us through the whole process. This was the largest $ spent - Bathroom consultation and design (2 stars): done after we finished the kitchen one, still some good design suggestions, but we had to drive most of it, many mistakes on the suggestions, most e-mails getting unanswered. This is a much smaller $ amount than the kitchen - Payment (-1 stars): we have paid over 50% but have been over-charged over $3000 through multiple mistakes. We had 5 invoices and 3 were wrong, we were charged for a 6th invoice that had not agreed to, ... Instead of driving the process to fix them, I had to continuously point the errors and since they were not being fixed, asked for an overview of the payments made so that they realize, ... I have gone through ~5 iterations on the invoices for several weeks and only 2 errors have been fixed, many e-mails are not answered but I still get new ones requesting me to pay what is left - Project management after sale (TBD): we are in the middle of the remodeling so we will see if they step up and compensate all the other trouble with great service here I will update the review once we are fully finished, and hopefully I will be able to increase the rating. My girlfriend and I purchased a home at the end of 2015 that needed a complete remodel. While we were waiting for escrow to close, we watched shows on HGTV, and read articles online, trying to get as many ideas and tips before we began our project. We already had an idea of the type of style we wanted for the remodel (modern/clean look) but neither one of us were experienced with any sort of remodeling, so we were relying on suggestions for the build, such as materials and fixtures from these home kitchen and bath remodel type of stores. We are not really big spenders, always looking for the cheaper, better, deal, but we also wanted quality. We had a budget. We visited places such as East Star, Floorcraft (other stores near those businesses), Home Depot, Lowes, etc. In the end we felt most comfortable working with Cornerstone Home Design. We chose them because the quality of fixtures and materials, the knowledge/suggestions and advice from the staff, and competitive pricing was what we were looking for in a store to work with. We first worked with Gabe. We went to him looking for bathroom and kitchen fixtures. We really appreciated the time he took to help us looking at each item, showing demos of certain faucets and shower heads, taking the time listening to what we were looking for, and valued his honest opinions (the positives and negatives) for each fixture we looked at. We felt that his main interest was finding something that we would be happy with, and what we were looking for, rather then trying to make a sale. This is something we did not experience at the other stores we visited. Through him, we purchased two bathroom faucets, a kitchen faucet, kitchen sink, push drains for bathroom sinks, insinkerator garbage disposal, the smaller fixtures for the kitchen and bathroom (such as insinkerator button, soap dispenser, air breather for dishwasher, towel bars and toilet paper holders), tiles for shower stall, tile flooring for both bathrooms, and a toilet. He spent some time trying to find us the right shower doors for our main bathroom, but they did not have it in stock, and was not able to get it in time, as we needed it sooner then later. Gabe ended up researching other businesses that may have what we were looking for in stock, and emailed links and pics (we ended up buying at Home Depot). For our kitchen cabinets, we worked with Craig. We already knew what type of look of cabinets we wanted, as well as pulls and handles. We gave Craig a rough draft of our kitchen dimensions, with a list of appliances (exact models) and placement, he then did a site visit to confirm the measurements, then he worked on a design for our kitchen....all was done within about a weeks time. His design had a lot of thought put into it, making very efficient use with the space, making sure each cabinet was very usable, maximizing storage space, and making sure accessing each cabinet with ease. Even after his initial design, he revised it a couple more times because he thought of another way to make the space even more usable. During the installation, he made a site visit to instruct our contractor, assuring proper installation. The cabinets came out looking great! We really love the look of our counter top with the waterfall option (where the counter top would continue down the side, to the floor). We purchased cabinets, handles and pulls, quartz counter top with waterfall edge, and back splash tiles. Working with the rest of the staff was a very pleasant experience. We appreciated the communication, such as updates of our orders and time frame of when our orders were ready for pick up. Communication was done via phone and emails. If we questioned pricing, or had any issues, it was easy working with Benson, as he was very fair and professional. Our experience working with Cornerstone was all positive, and we would highly recommend this business to anyone who has a remodel project. We love working with Cat and Benson at Cornerstone Home Design. They did a wonderful job with our modern Kitchen cabinetry, counter, powder room vanity and Bathroom tiles, counter, and cabinetry. To give you some perspective...this was our first remodel so Cat had to do a lot of educating. Secondly, we spent over six figures on this remodel so my expectation was high. I didn't want to spend more than $85k initially ( including labor, goods and appliances ) so this was a major investment and every dollar spent at Cornerstone which is close to $40K was well worth it despite going way way way over. I wanted a modern, clean, sophisticated SF kitchen. And they delivered. Cat was remarkable with answering myriad questions as this was our first remodel. She expertly showed me more affordable kitchen cabinets and the final product was a grey-brown wood with upper white matte cabinetry and it was beautiful. Our kitchen has European slow closing doors. The blind corners are elegant with custom pull outs. We have a panel that covered our Bosch dishwasher. Our white upper cabinets have these Tesla like doors. All in all, just wonderful. They were a fraction of the cost at another SF German based cabinet making company in Dogpatch that I initially was going to go with. And I am so glad that I did. It looks top notch. What I like about Cornerstone was the ability to also get a prefab counter and fixtures. Instead of going to various places, it was one stop shop. The Calacutta Classic and Bone White were of high quality. Many of our friends have come over and asked if it's Cambria and it's not. But it sure looks like it. For our waterfall the Calacutta Classic has this big strip/stripe...and it looks very tasteful. We love how at the last minute we had to adjust and order more slab and Cat was on it. Why I am giving them 5 stars is that despite some issues with our cabinetry(it arrived two weeks late) and vanity(which came in with the wrong sink top and legs too short), each time we had a roadblock with our GC and subs or the product, Cat and Benson came the rescue. They educated my husband and I on what was normal to expect, what was not. And what was even subpar work. And when we couldn't resolve the vanity issue, they brought in their own guys and fixed it at their own expense. This is why they get high marks. They took responsibility with their own product was subpar and they fixed it. When you are dealing with a home project and spending far too much money than you hope, you want a company which values their customer service and stand by their quality even if it's not their fault but a manufacturers. I love that I dealt with one company even on the fixtures and nobs because everything looked so cohesive together. One last thing. Gabe in the fixture department was genius. His emails and quotes were fast and to the point. And he picked fixtures within my budget. And when I didn't see that I ordered 2 toilets by accident, he adjusted the change. Thank god...can you imagine 2 toilets when you need 1. LOL. Thank you Benson...and team. They saved my marriage and sanity. (ps: sorry for any typos) read more
