I needed a formal dress shortened and the shoulder taken in a little bit to fit me. I went to J.V. Professional Tailor because they are highly rated. Jose was not fazed at all by some draping that goes all the way to the bottom of the dress. The shoulders were cleanly altered and the length was just right. The space is clean and organized. Both the drop-off/measuring and pick-up were efficient. The alterations cost $125, which seems on par with other places I have been before. They prefer Zelle but were willing to accept credit card. I was not in a hurry. He scheduled my pick-up for just over 3 weeks from the consultation, and it was completed as scheduled. I got a bridesmaids dress tailored for a wedding there. Very simple hemming and taking in the bodice. I had no idea what it would cost and feel taken advantage of. They charged me $150 for just that. I'm shocked at all the good reviews which is what took me there. I tried it on in the store and everything looked good but just tried it on again and it's bunching by the zipper in the back. Poor quality workmanship. I am shocked at the good reviews. I brought in one pair of women's crepe slacks to be shortened and hemmed. These were an expensive brand new pair of pants that I was planning to wear to an important event. When I inspected the work it was uneven and the stitches were puckered and Jose returned the pants to me wrinkled. To add insult to injury it cost $35!!!!! I should have gone to my regular tailor Rancho Tailor who has been in business for 40 years but I moved to the Marina and Rancho Tailor is now moved near Century City so I was hoping to find a local tailor. Now I am going back to Rancho Tailor who only charges $18 for a professional hem job. And his work is impeccable & honest! I just hope that JV tailor did not ruin my slacks and that it will cost me to have to purchase new ones. And for the event that I had to go to, I had to figure out something else to wear because the hem on the slacks looked that awful! Beware of you go to JV Tailor. I cannot believe that this place has good reviews. And when I tried to post a one star review of JV Tailor on Google, they somehow never posted it despite the fact that I submitted the review twice!!!! I bought a second hand wedding dress online and needed to get it tailored. I didn't want to go to a wedding dress specific alterations place because I knew the mark up would be crazy. I found JV Tailor on Yelp and gave him a call. I went with my wedding dress same day and he thoroughly looked the dress over after I put it on. He's very detailed oriented and listened to me on what I wanted and didn't want. What he tailored: - the puffy sleeves so that they would hang correctly on my upper arms and not slip down - the front of the bodice that kept wrinkling and not sitting flat while wearing the dress, he tailored the front to sit flat - hemmed the bottom of the front of the dress and the sides a little so that it hit right above the floor perfectly Price: The price he quoted me was fair considering all the work he put in to altering my wedding dress over several appointments. Overall I'm super happy with the finished product. When I first tried the dress on, I didn't feel good about it because it didn't look good on me. But after he altered the dress, I really did in fact love the dress since it was fitted to my body after his alterations. He also worked quickly and timely. Highly highly recommend! I went to a different tailor who seemed very pessimistic about altering it. However I decided to take it to Jose since he had previously done amazing work on some of my (now) husband's suits. Jose came up with a simple but beautiful solution to make the dress fit and even sourced a fabric that matched the very unique white color of the dress. When I came to pick up the dress (which was completed ahead of schedule) I was absolutely blown away. It fit perfectly it looked so seamless that I honestly liked the change (the inclusion of a corset) better than the original zipper closure. I got so many compliments at the wedding on the dress. I bought a fantastic dress to wear to a wedding. It fit beautifully! I didn't have heels with me, so I just figured with my heels it would be great. 1 week before I was set to fly across the country for the wedding, I thought I should try on the dress. I'm 5'8" and had 3.5" heels on--and the dress was still a bit over an inch too long! It was a Friday at 4:40pm! I called JV professional tailor and he said to bring the dress in at 9am the next day, as he closes at 5pm, and he'd have it altered and ready for me by Wednesday evening. What can I say: GO TO THIS TAILOR. I got an incredible Bagdley Mischka dress off eBay and it did not fit. Prior to going to him, I went to a questionable tailor who refused to work on the dress. Omg I have to say Jose is absolutely amazing! I have been looking for a new seamstress and tailor for about two years and had about 25 dresses and outfits to be altered. He got everything done in less than a week and everything fits absolutely amazingly! Some dresses I had ordered from Shein and other sites where the fitting is not quite on point. Jose fixed them to fit me to a tee. A handful of dresses Jose was able to change the neck line and the back of the dress cut to be completely altered into beautiful new dresses that were sexy and flattering Normally I would be skeptical of trying a place with not many reviews, but I was finally so desperate to get all these clothes altered that have been piling up that I decided to give Jose's shop a chance....
