2 stars because the price is good for the selection and the place was clean. Noodles were undercooked and crunchy. Chicken was overcooked and dry. Sushi was o.k.. My biggest problem is that a lot of the dishes were mislabeled which was very annoying. read more

Ok. Quick stop and we were going to go to Five Guys...but wait...Chinese Buffet for $8.50 a person drink included.....screw the Yelp Reviews of two stars the place looks clean...lets go! That's the before. Look folks. I'm not going to trash the place too much because honestly, there are 150 items....you have to find at least a few things that are palate able ....the service was very good, place clean (aside from the problems in the bathroom it needs some attention). The food though? Meh at best. Sushi wAs just ok. They offer Habachi as part of the buffet which is good too. But the food just lacked good flavor IMO. That's where this lacks. If you go, you will feel full, and certainly can get your money's worth, it is just not a very memorable experience. Really, I struggle to give this 3 stars. My first time eating there & was very disappointed. The outside and I interior looks very nice, but it doesn't make up for the poor quality of the food. I tried a little but of everything & was highly disappointed in everything that I ate except for the egg drop soup and the Chinese donuts. Their salad had huge chunks of lettuce that looked like it was just taken off a head of lettuce and not even cut up, their food was warm, nothing was hot, not even my soup. Their fish was bland & mushy. Their seafood stuffed mushrooms looked AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS but I was wrong, the only part that was good about that was the mushrooms. Their Chinese food was bland. I thought their ice cream was good until I realized it was freezer burnt. The place looks so nice, it's a shame the food is such a disappointment. read more

Ate here One time only. The selections were many, but nothing really new and exciting. Just the same ol' Chinese buffet food that was just "ok" nothing really stood out for me to want to come back here again. There are so many other Chinese restaurants I can go to which are phenomenally better than here. I just happened to have been in the area, I was hungry and I saw "Chinese Buffet" so I gave it a try. If I ever go back again, I will ask to see the buffet first before I commit to eating and paying for it. read more

This place used to be amazing. Now it's just ok. Usually the food is pretty ok. The hibachi is good and the sushi is good when it's fresh. But they seem to stop making it fresh by like 5 or 6 pm. Then it's either stale or just gone altogether. There are literally signs on the buffet noting that if the food is old and dry, but you eat some of it anyhow, you still have to pay. Maybe instead of a disclaimer just put out better food? Service is hit or miss. Sometimes they're great, sometimes they're terrible (just like the food). Checkout is almost always rude. They will "remind" you to leave a tip if you don't (by the way, leaving a tip is not standard at a buffet, it's certainly not normal to leave a 20% tip, and definitely not for bad service). Also, don't pay by leaving your money on the table. They will chase you into the parking lot screaming and yelling and taking a fit. read more

Great Food! Very Clean! You get a wide variety of food for a Great price :-) My family and friends have been going here for years. Never did we have a bad meal. People these reviews are pretty accurate. After spending a day at Cabelas it was recommended by some of the workers at Cabelas, what a disappointment. I should have paid attention to the sign on the wall "If you are not satisfied with your meal let your hostess know. Not paying for an unsatisfactory meal will be considered theft" that should have been the first red flag. The second red flag I entered the men's room to use the bathroom the Oder was so bad and I almost puked I never in my life smelt something that bad so I changed my mind and just went to wash my hands no soap. The 3rd red flag was the online pictures do not match what is on the buffet. Well I was there and hungry how bad could it really be. Besides everything being cold and not so fresh right in the middle of lunch time 12:30 pm it also had no flavor at all the only thing that had flavor was the water and I think they took it straight out of the toilet everything was bad and for a $13.99 price it is definitely not worth it. read more

The food was old and gross and looked liked leftover scraps from lunch when we were there for dinner. It was also cold and the dishes were wet from dishwasher which is pretty gross. Even though we were there way before closing time the waitress was rushing us out it was really rude. I would get fast food before going here. Worst $30 I ever spent on food. read more

JA Buffett is what it is. Had to eat here as a meet up with another family. Pay one price eat as much as you want of industrial Asian food, including sushi. The service staff were nice and took our plates. I had the dumplings, an egg roll, fried rice ,string beans, shrimp and some sushi.All ok. J A Buffet is located in a strip mall near Cabela's in Hamburg Pennsylvania. They used to be down the road on Route 61 and it was a very plain, dated restaurant with very little selection. This restaurant is much improved in its new location of the last few years. This Buffet is decent quality food as far as Chinese buffets go. The selection could be a little bit better in terms of more variety of different kinds of meats and seafood. The soups should be more authentic Chinese; for example, the wonton soup tastes much like chicken noodle soup broth with wonton noodles in it. This restaurant has the standard General Tso's chicken, shrimp, fried breaded meats, and fish. There is also Hibachi and a small Sushi selection. The salad bar has the standard variety of fresh fruit including the strawberries with the red sauce, bananas, manarine oranges, Jello, seafood salad, and the flavorless cakes that we usually pass on. The food varies from tasting somewhat fresh to tasting like it might have been setting for a little while. The biggest improvements for this restaurant that I would want are having more rotation of foods, close monitoring at the food buffet areas so that you can stop folks from contaminating food using their hands in the food. The decor of this restaurant is very nice and the restrooms are clean. The staff are friendly. Keep in mind that you must pay the cashier and not your server, not a big deal for some except not as accommodating of disabled diners. read more

Great concept, wonderful price point, inferior execution. I totally agree with most of the other reviews, the restaurant is clean and the wait staff attentive, however the sushi and hibachi chefs seemed to be hiding. Like Asa D. I arrived well before noon and everything I tried was at best tepid in temperature. Texture of the food was the other major downfall. The turbot was mushy, every chicken and beef dish stringy and tough. On the positive side, the squid was wonderfully flavored, unfortunately a garden hose is more tender. If they buckle up, and pay more attention to temperature and texture, it may be worth a second chance. read more

Take out blows their buffet food out of the water. Wonton soup takeout? Amazing. Wonton soup from the buffet? Dishwater soup. Their takout is always superb. Had one of the worst buffet experiences at JA Buffet in Hamburg in August 2020. Food availability was scarce, I had to spit out several items as they tasted horrible, the hibachi area had about 8 noodles left, and 3 out of 3 employees were rude. It was our first time here, we didn't have crazy expectations we just wanted some quality food. We were still hungry after our $34 buffet that we got Five Guys nearby! This is the best Chinese restaurant in the area, they have great food and are extremely clean. This is their third location, the other two were too small as they grew, and I've been coming to them for 26 years. I highly recommend the bourbon chicken and cheese wontons! read more

This buffet is the best of both worlds! They have lots of variety. The sushi is excellent! You can watch them make the rolls by hand. My favorite was the chicken and broccoli, but the general tsos was a close second. I'm from the area and this is my favorite Chinese place - hands down. They have good lunch specials too! Barely edible. The fried foods like General Tso's chicken which is a staple for any Chinese buffet could chip a tooth, the pho noodles have an odd smokey flavor while the cold shrimp have no flavor what so ever, and the dumpling sauce is just plain gross. Your first impression when walking in is that it is updated and clean. They have a very wide selection of various types of food. American fare for the kids, sushi bar, hibachi station, and a about 4 hot/cold stations. we went on a Sunday and it was seafood/steak day and everything was very good. the gen tso's chicken was sans chicken however and it seemed to be only the outer coating of the chicken which was very very hard. everyone was very nice and they made sure that the table was cleared without being overbearing and you dont feel like you are being stalked. they had crawfish (which is unheard of in these parts) and that was a very pleasant surprise. no crab legs however. The kids are already asking when we are going back (even the picky one who never eats anything) so this defiantly will be on our list of "lets go again" places.!! read more

No heat in the hot and sour soup; No heat in the General Tso's Chicken and very little chicken; One entire steam table devoted to local foods like ham, roast beef, corn, mashed potatos, etc. Overall disaster as a Chinese buffet. Poorly managed yet friendly staff So to start the food was mostly all cold and I was here at 11:45am right when it should be at it freshest and warmest for lunch so that wasn't good. All and all the food was so so but nothing special. The wait staff was very attentive and good thought so that was a big plus. Then when it comes time to pay for the $9 buffet (Not a bad price all and all) you get up to the register and theres a $12 minimum charge on cards which is not stated anywhere on the doors as you walk in or anywhere else for one to see until you get up the the register and there it is in small print on the receipt machine. The lady checking me out then insisted that I must pay the other $3 as a tip because I had no cash on me and without even my ok charged it to the card because I gave it to her before she pointed out that it was a $12 min charge. This place is a sham and I wouldn't of had a problem giving a good tip to the wait staff because they were good but being told that I have no choice because of min charge is Bull****. I would not and can not recommend that this is a good place to eat because the food was sub par and the ordeal I had to go through at checkout. If you're looking for cheap chinese or sushi, and you're in rural eastern PA, this is the place to go. For 17 bucks, my wife and I had all the food we could eat. The chinese wasn't spicy, and the sushi wasn't raw, but what can you expect at a buffet? They also had deserts, which I would skip, as the pastries looked a little stale.
