I love Jack and Jill. I've been taking my two daughters since the store opened and have been pleased with every cut. One of my daughters has very curls hair and had only gotten three cuts in her seven years. The two that we've had done at Jack and Jill have been perfect with a nice shape, which is difficult with curly hair. The stylists have done a great job teaching me the best products and strategies to use on her. My other daughter has a short wedge cut and gets it done every six or eight weeks or so at Jack and Jill. I've been very pleased with the cut every time and they do a great job making the cut look appropriate for a kid, even though it could be an adult cut. My kids love the hair accessories and I've bought many birthday gifts there too. I highly recommend Jack and Jill and will happily continue to support them. read more

My three year old son is impossible to give haircuts to. He was reluctant to even get into her fire truck chair. Nicole changed that. She was understanding, chatty, and fun. He ended up walking out with a quality haircut and a smile on his face. No stress for him or me. read more

Very disappointed going here. The staff is not as friendly and energetic as you would imagine a children's salon to be. Not personable, hardly cracked a smile. Thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt (maybe a bad day?) but realized it's just their personalities or the mood of the staff. Extremely disappointing. Our first time and I had high hopes. When I made the appointment, they never asked what type of services we needed. I assumed that we would just have a consultation at the salon. When we got there, we were rushed in and out in less than 10 mins. $18 for a haircut and "style". There was no style whatsoever. When I walked back in after realizing that I paid $18 for a subpar haircut they said that all they do was go under hair with a round brush. Don't waste your time and money. read more

Super cute place to bring small kids for their haircuts, my daughter loved the cool retro chairs. My only critique was that we paid for the 1st haircut package and the Polaroid we got was so washed out you can't tell it's our daughter. The hairstylists need to be trained on how take better pictures because at a $5 up charge that pic should be a memory that reflects our great experience. I tried this place for the first time recently and was not overly impressed. The price and the haircut were both fine, and the staff was pleasant, but here's my complaint: There were no seats for adults (unless you want to sit in the little police car or something). There was also nothing to read (except for Tiger Beat and Teen Vogue). I think it's unlikely that small children will be coming to the salon alone, so it makes sense to make accommodations for the adults who accompany them. I think this salon would be a lot better off with a few grownup chairs, magazines and maybe a pot of coffee to keep the adults occupied during the haircut. These problems seem like easy ones to fix. I was very disappointed with the haircuts that my three children, ages 10, 8, and 4, received at this salon. My ten year old had the worst, most uneven cut of them all, and she's old enough to sit still so I can't blame it on her squirming. I pointed it out to the stylist that one side was longer than the other and from there it got worse. I had to take her to an adult salon where she had to get a short bob to correct how uneven her hair was. I paid $18 for the worst haircut of her life. Additionally, when my second daughter was called to get her hair cut, the stylist asked me if she needed her hair washed. I told her that it was up to her and that she had just had it washed the night before. She washed her hair and added $3 to my bill even though it didn't need it and didn't tell me about the extra charge. Finally, my girls wanted their nails done so they each got manicures. What a rip off! That night my daughters took their baths and ended up so upset. Their $10 manicures were ruined since the polish all peeled off in the bath water. Needless to say, it was the worst $74 + tip that I ever spent and will not be returning. read more

Loved this cute, clean, adorable place for my two young toddlers to get their hair cut (which..btw, is usually a HUGE task in itself!) I came mainly in hopes to fix my daughter's previous horrible bang cut done at a Pigtails and Crewcuts store, and was pleasantly surprised to see how well it came out! My son received his first haircut here, which was rewarded with a picture momento as well. He loved sitting in a little sports car and watching his favorite shows on the flat screen in front of him. From what I have seen and experienced thus far, Jack and Jill has talented stylists, friendly staff, and an amazing, bright set up which is so incredibly kid friendly....so much that I had a hard time pulling them away from all the really UNIQUE toys and accessories sold there. After trying Pigtails & Crewcuts in Mount Prospect for my daughter's last haircut, I thought I'd try some place closer to home. We came in for a Teeny which, according to the website, is a haircut and style. We arrived right as Jack and Jill opened. There was a noisy music class in the back, but the place was otherwise empty so my daughter was free to choose wherever she wanted to sit. I can't even name the hairstylist who cut her hair because she never introduced herself. While we were trying to figure out how to get my daughter still and sitting down, I asked her what she wanted to watch. The stylist said, "We're watching Toy Story" and was otherwise unpleasant. She did not engage with my daughter at all before or during the haircut, and I'm not even sure of the quality of the haircut, as it was done dry. (She explained that with curlier hair that they prefer to do a dry cut, but I've never seen that done on children before.) And as for the style portion of our services, I spend more time doing her hair than the stylist who put her hair half up in a side ponytail with a random brown rubberband. I will never understand the negative attitudes by hairstylists at these places; they know they're working with children. At least pretend that you like kids and are accordingly patient with them. i brought my nephew here to get a hair cut a few weeks ago.. his first "toddler cut" rather than his baby style he's had since he was born. they have toys to play with while you wait, which seemed to make my nephew pretty comfortable compared to other places i have taken him. the stylist was very nice, and very quick. they have options for kids to sit in fun seats or on an adult's lap if they are scared. read more

I found Jack and Jill nearly by chance. My husband and I took our son (8months then)for his first haircut and as first time parents we were excited, nervous and unsure of what to expect. As we entered we were happily greeted and Valerie was our stylist. She was nice and talked to us about prices and a package deal for "baby's 1st time trim" $30, (trim/buzz $18).They have sooo many entertainments (Disney movies on tv's, toys, candy) to name a few in order to help distract your child while getting a trim. Needless to say we were HAPPY with our experience and have returned 3x's since. One thing I would have liked is seat-belts for the smaller babies that can sit but may tip over. The other option is holding you baby but my kiddo didn't like sitting on my lap, he wanted the airplane where Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was playing and it was a bit of a hassle trying to hold him so he didn't fall while the stylist gave him a trim. They also offer MUSIC! 1 FREE music class for kids of all ages before committing to a subscription. We have yet to try the music class out. read more

I have had good experiences bringing my son to Jack and Jill. They are nice and attentive and really listen to my comments on how to cut his hair. The only thing I don't like is the shelf with candy housed in cheap toys near the exit. It is right at "kid grabbing" level. read more

Rude staff. I called on a friday and asked for a sat 9 am appointment so the lady said we dont have 9 am and can give you 9.30 am appt. so i agreed to it and before hanging up, she repeated that the appointment was for Sat 9.30 am. When i go in on Sat morning and get there by 9.35 am (5 mins late cus i couldn't find parking) she was extremely rude and said i was 35 mins late and not 5 mins late. I kept telling the staff that it was for 9.30 am and the lady replied rudely that she told me 9 am. Instead of aplogising she was rude in front of other staff and customers there. Whats the point in taking an appointment ??? She even said i could wait for an hour and see but no assurance that i will get a hair cut for my child. Terrible customer service. I wiill never go back to this place again. read more

Took my son for a haircut and some Hispanic lady messed up his hair so bad that you can't even fix it and made my kid cry.. Would never recommend anyone to this place and the hair stylist need more training and learn to listen and do what they asked for. read more

Took my 11 month old son for his first haircut on Saturday 09/17/2016 and we were very pleased with how it turned out. Annie was the one who performed the haircut, and she did a fantastic job. Despite the fact that he was screaming bloody murder, and would not sit still, his new haircut came out very well. This was my 3 yr old daughter's second vist, I was hoping she would have a much better experience the second time around.....didn't happen! Haircut was decent, but the stylists have no personality...they all looked like they had a rough night, they didn't talk much and were very grumpy. I was at your place yesterday with my two girls and I like to inform you how disappointed I was with your service .Your employ had the worst customer service ever .She was not friendly at all ,did not even talk to kids ,she was not interacting with no one .She did not even turn the TV on for my second girl .One of my friend goes to your place and she tells me that you always give the kids lollipop and all those nice thinks ,we got nothing for $ 36 +$6 tip that I don't think she deserved . I've been coming to Jack & Jill since the day they opened and it's starting to look very runned down. For example the paint is chipping everywhere,the pedicure/manicure station looks horrible there is nail polish all over it and it's stained. My 7 year old daughter wanted to have a party there but after looking at the back I decided to go else where. The spa party robes look disgusting. I will continue to bring my daughter there for her haircuts because the girls that work there are great and I've never had a complaint about a haircut. I've lived in Park Ridge my whole life and I feel this salon is great for our community but it looks like it needs major TLC because it looks neglected. read more

I took my two year old son there two months ago to have his hair cut and he liked it, and he used to cry at other place.but there was not enough stylists there to take care of all of the clients,so i asked the one girl there is it just you and she said yea, this was around 5:30 at night, Is that how somebody run's a place.I will give it another try and be going back this week just to see that stylist that was there that night.I think her name was Nicole and i definitely will recommend her to my friends with kids. read more

I have been going to Jack & Jill with my three children for quite some time. They all had their first haircuts at J&J. The stylists have always done good job and are good with toddlers. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience today and will not go back. We were on time for our appointment and they were running late, which was fine as they apologized. My four year olds waited over a half hour. When it was their turn, they both wanted to go in the same vehicle and one ended up crying. After talking with my daughter and trying to get her to go to another spot with no success, I said to go ahead and take the next child and we would wait for my first to finish. When my first daughter finished her haircut, I asked the girl (who I had not seen on previous visits) if she could then take my daughter who was waiting and she said no. She said that she needed to have gone before and that they were already running behind and I could make another appointment. The parent of the next appointment said it was fine with her and to go ahead as the child who had gone early was almost finished, but the stylist said they were too busy and had other appointments soon. I stated that we also waited over a half hour, we did not make them wait around while my daughter was upset, we said that we would wait for her to also cut my second daughter's hair. We did not make them behind schedule and whether they cut my daughters' hair at the same time or one after another, they would have still had the same amount of appointments, same number of stylists and still been behind. We did not make them behind. My daughter was very disappointed and upset and so was I. I thought that they specialized in children and were able to be flexible. There are times when young children do not do exactly as we want or expect. It's too bad that we will have to find another place because the kids were always excited to go here. read more

I was so disappointed! I really wanted to like this place since we live in Park Ridge, and it is conveniently located. We walked over for my son's first haircut. I called to make an appointment the same day and was pleasantly surprised that they had tons of available openings (should have been a warning). When we walked in, the receptionist appeared annoyed; it seemed like we were bothering her. They whisked us quickly to a chair. We repeatedly told them this was his first haircut; I assumed we would be getting the package with the lock of hair and picture. No such luck! Meaning, the stylist literally swept up his hair from the floor when I asked for a lock! Are you kidding me? I wanted to cry. My son did cry, almost the whole time. They do not know how to work with infants ( he was 14 months). I had to dig into my diaper bag to find things to distract/sooth him while my husband was holding him. Again, they seemed annoyed and agitated with my son. The haircut was horrible too. The back neck was way too short: sort of like one of the three stooges. The people working there obviously do not realize how special a first haircut is to a parent. I do not even think they have spent time with children. Neighbors of mine have had the same experience. I wish I could have liked this place because it looks so cute and inviting from the street. read more

We took our daughter in today for her first haircut and were disappointed from the start. All the seats are boy themed; police car, fire truck, airplane, and taxi, not a single pink car. We were rushed into placing our daughter into a seat without letting her get adjusted to the new environment. The entire haircut took less than 10 minutes and our daughter has A LOT of hair. When the hairstylist tried using the blow dryer our daughter cried. I tried talking to her to calm her down, but the hair stylist just put down the dyer without even trying again. Our daughter's hair was still wet so we thought it would look better once it dried, but it doesn't. It makes me sad to say, but her first haircut is horrible! I could honestly do the same job, if not better. Her bangs are all crooked and uneven. Lastly, we did the first haircut commemorative package and it was a waste of money. All they do is hand write your child's name in marker on stationary paper, tape a poor quality Polaroid picture onto it, and place a tiny piece of your child's hair off the floor into a little envelope. We were so excited about taking her for her first haircut, but this experience was such a let down. We did not feel welcomed and were in and out the door within 15 minutes. I will call and speak to the manager, but at this point, I would not return to Jack and Jill. read more
