I occasionally travel for work and used Alex Cleaners on several occasions over the last few years as my local neighborhood shop to get a quick service before meeting with Clients. Normally no issues... but... Last month I was preparing for both an interview and a wedding. I dropped off a suit and shirt for cleaning like usual. I was given a ticket slip and told to come back in a few days. When I came back, the employee couldn't find my suit or their copy of the claim ticket. I assumed maybe just a clerical error and spent 30 minutes with the employee going through the racks to see if it had been misplaced. Nothing. I gave them my information and was told the owner would call me back and I hoped they'd have an update. Meanwhile I'm going home trying to figure out backup plans if I don't get my suit in time. This is where it gets crazy. The owner calls me within the hour and tells me someone came in several days earlier without the ticket receipt. The person claimed to be me and Alex Cleaners gave them my suit when they paid in cash. I was confused. Why would they give my suit to someone without the claim ticket? They had my contact information on the business copy of the ticket, so why wouldn't they try calling my phone number or email to verify my identity? But they didn't. Any time I tried to ask a question, the owner cut me off and talked over me. I got more confused because rather than admitting making a mistake as a business, the owner THREATENED me by claiming I was trying to scam them and that he was going to call the police on me! At this point I ended the conversation terrified this guy was going to have police or attorneys coming after me for their mistake. I filed my own police report, but I'm not planning on taking this to court. The suit was nice but not worth legal drama. The most I can do is warn others not to use Alex Cleaners. I don't know what their situation is... if they messed up and were lying to cover themselves when they realized they lost my clothes? That or their employees are sharing customer info to commit fraud and steal suits because they don't have security systems or processes to protect customer belongings. Either way, save yourself the drama and get your stuff cleaned somewhere else. TL;DR Alex Cleaners gave my suit to a stranger then threatened me.

Not only that, but most of the time we're in a drought situation and with a well, we have to be more conservative with water use. It has now been over two years that I've been going there. Depending on which day I'm there I can always count on seeing the same really sweet and helpful people. It's easy to go in, load the card given to you with $ and start washing. It is a bit expensive to do leather jacket cleaning, but for the experience and process, I would say it was totally worth it. They texted me to let me know when they would arrive to pick up and to drop off. They gave me a clear time approximation and even beat it (they estimated 6-8 weeks but I believe it only took about 2-3?). My jackets came back wrapped really nicely, and the delivery driver took proper care to deliver at my door. In fact, I wasn't home and she asked how I would like my jackets to be dropped off. The thoughtfulness and consideration Ian's provides can't be beat. I also appreciate that they have an app so you can easily plan your pick-ups and drop-offs. If I have any articles of clothing that will need dry cleaning in the future, Ian's will be top of mind.

When I went on The Laundry Spot's website I saw that they offered this service so figured I'd give them a try. I had a few questions so I called the number listed on the home page of the website, and the woman who answered referred me to another number for the pick up and delivery service which turned out is also listed if you click on the "delivery" link. I got an answering service and left my contact info and within minutes, James the owner called back and answered my questions and walked me through the process of setting up an account so that I could do the online scheduling myself. There were 3 convenient windows of times to select from for both pick up and delivery so I scheduled pick up between 8am-11am on Tuesday and delivery during that same timeframe the next day. I got a text a minute or so prior to them arriving both times and they were both within the scheduled timeframes. Since the home was unoccupied those days, I was able to text them the temporary door code I set up remotely and allow them to pick up and drop off inside in the entry way. The laundry consisted of two full sets of bedding, several towels dish towels, etc. All came back perfectly clean and nicely folded. Online I was able to select the type of soap (or even provide my own if desired), optional softeners, and add any specific instructions such as cold water, gentle cycle etc. I am so thrilled to have found this service! Since I'm a big fan of USEFUL technology, I'm very happy that I can do all of the scheduling from my smart phone, including paying the invoice. I was initially apprehensive about providing my credit card info and wanted to be sure the info was encrypted and secure. The owner, James, patiently explained to me that he's partnered with a few different technology platforms in order to make it possible to do all of this online, so it's all very secure and tested. One thing to note: because of the way the various platforms are linked, you see different URLs when you schedule versus looking at your account versus payment, but after it's set up it's a piece of cake. And best of all, the laundry comes back beautifully clean and nicely folded without me having to do a thing (I have back problems) so this is a wonderful solution for me. And the pricing is incredibly reasonable. I highly recommend trying this laundry service and supporting a great local Austin business!

The whole back wall is dryers which seems like plenty and would be if it were not for inconsiderate people. Most days I have gone managed to be a weekday so no bad. This last visit was on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. Barely found a parking spot, but my big issue was the dryers. So many had clothes sitting in them, the cycle done but no one taking care of it. Not a great look when it is not busy but when it is so busy there are no open ones do better. I wish the laundromat had some kind of rule or did something if it is sitting there too long, at least when it is this busy. But otherwise it was fine. None of the TV's have ever been on, though that is one of the selling points on the wall. The first visit back in 2019 had one of them going. Since then not at all. They do sell cans of soda, water, and chips if you are going to be there for a while.

With proper care and storage, this suit will last for decades. If you are going to get a custom tailored suit with many custom changes like mine, plan on spending at least $120 - and if it's a rush job, expect to pay a premium. (On the other hand, custom suits from clothiers like Tom James on Far West that do all your measurements, provide high-end fabric, and artisanally design/cut/sew the suit cost at least $800, so I've been told, and that is far beyond my budget, though it is a worthy investment for some professions).

Finally they offered a cash reimbursement. That was almost 3 weeks ago. The cash was supposed to hit my account 10 days after the interaction. I contacted customer support today, the reimbursement hasn't even been processed. They now swear it's officially in the works and their leadership team is in the loop. I should get reimbursed in the next few days. At this point I've accepted they have just ruined several of my favorite shirts and it's now my problem. Do not use them, however convenient it is.
