Coming from Maui, there are not a lot of good burger places. Really only one stand out - Burger Boys waygu burger truck. So on my first mainland trip in a couple years, I have been trying different burger shops. Jack Brown's had really high reviews, had a super fun vibe, and a really creative menu, which I love. Service was on point. Let's get the elephant out of the room right now - the size. lol I was prepared for a small burger from all the reviews, but, Shake Shack has a small burger, Jack-in-the-Box has a small burger. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight and the dog. But I ain't gonna lie, that is one tiny burger! It's like...five bites? One for each corner, and then the middle. lol They might be better off coring the middle, and marketing them as hamburger donuts. The easy fix is just order an extra patty for a few bucks more. Same as Shake Shack. The other thing I have a problem with is the, "we don't do lettuce or tomato..." line. Sorry, that's like a pizza with no toppings. Really, it just sounds like they found a way to reduce overhead by not having to prep and pay for vegetables. But whatever... if great burgers can be made without lettuce and tomato, and without a big patty...let's get it on. I'm sorry, but that patty was charbroiled to the point of no juice. This is where a tomato might help with moisture. lol I don't see how this is actually Wagyu. A Wagyu burger should be melting in my mouth. I don't know what happened, but it reminded me of my first job at Burger King, running whoppers through the flame broil conveyor belt. If you got one that just came out, you scored big time. But if you got one that just sat in the warmer for 10 minutes, you got a dry burger. It was a very disappointing burger. Then again, I just had a Shake Shack burger yesterday, and it was nomnom greasy goodness. Of course I was going to be disappointed. It's like Ozzy Osbourne following up Slipknot as the opening act. It's Burger week in Chattanooga and a group of coworkers walked down to Jack Brown's who were participating. It's a small building with indoor and outdoor seating. We did not have to wait too long to get a seat. The interior is like you are in an old hut on the beach during spring break - very funky vibe with a lot of hilarious decor. The waiter was friendly but they were so busy, I had to walk up to the bar area to get a refill. I ordered: Cobra Kai burger - delicious! This had cream cheese, pepper jelly, and pickled jalapenos. It had sweet, spicy, creamy, and savory, great combo. The only downside is the burgers are on the small side. Co-worker who had been there before confirmed this was the normal size, not paired down for Burger week. Crinkle cut fries - the kitchen timed these puppies just right. They came to the table, hot with a slight crisp on the outside. What put these over the top was this savory sauce called JB Sauce they brought to the table. Great spot in the middle of downtown Chattanooga for a cold beer and a burger. I originally wasn't a fan of the burgers because I thought they were too small compared to other restaurants, but the flavor definitely makes up for it. They won best burger during the first burger week with the Crab Rangoon Burger, which was delicious. The service is fast and friendly. They offer a full bar with music and TVs. My colleague and I are doing the Chattanooga Burger Week and started Day 1 at Jack Browns. We are both new in town and heard great things. The burger did not disappoint. I however had the crab rangoon on the side since I'm dairy free and my colleague enjoyed it. To be honest, just the burger with the sweet chili oil and crunch pieces was phenomenal. I wanted to add lettuce and tomato but the waitress first said they don't have lettuce and you couldn't sub the sandwich. My colleague and I also shared a basket of fries. They have the crinkle cut ones. Deliciousness!! Now the kicker is they don't have things you'd normally want like lettuce, or ranch dressing to dip your fries. But they did have a yummy Jack Brown sauce. My colleague asked for a cherry coke nope and no grenadine either. Which was strange since they do have a bar. To be honest, our waitress was just ok but the waitress that held the door open when we left was very welcoming and friendly! The French fries were awesome for sure. Perfect amount of salt and crispy. The cheeseburger looked amazing; however, the patty was missing saltiness honestly and it tasted bland. Well none of that compares to Jack Browns and specifically our beer-tender Hayden. The beer was always full and Hayden's bartending skills are top notch. If you don't like bloody Mary's now you do, I am a prime example of that... but ONLY theirs, none of that zing-zany bs, throw that crap away. Of course the burgers were amazing, even on my diamond cut I was able to get some good tasting food with not many calories for all you health warriors out there. So basically me and my girlfriend came in here around 8:45 and we were told that it was 21 and up only right now. But that was written down nowhere and they have about 20 chalkboards in there where they could write it down. So we still ordered our food for takeout and then we just went and sat outside and there was no one else even out there. Then some woman that was working followed us out there and enlightend us that we weren't allowed to sit out there because it's within company policy that you can't eat takeout food on the patio. Jack Browns in Birmingham was one of our favorite spots in town. So when we saw they had one in Chattanooga we were stoked! We have been here a couple of times. They do one thing. Burgers. And they do it damn good! The burgers are always hot and juicy with great toppings. I got the loaded fries! They were super amazing. Loaded with cheese, bacon, caramelized onions and jalapenos! Throw a little local Hoff sauce on there and you are good to go! Huge beer selection too since they are a Beer and Burger joint! The service at the bar was good. It was a slow Sunday afternoon. Worst hamburger I have ever had! Burgers are not served with typical lettuce, tomatoes, pickles or anything. Just meat and bread. When asked the server indicated "they do not serve their wygo beef with faulty produce" which is the best line of BS I have ever heard. I did not even eat the food but instead went home and ate a ham sandwich with 'faulty produce' which was better than their overpriced hamburger. Never going back! read more
