The food was not good. They play terrible music as loud as possible. The staff is inexperienced. The atmosphere is like a dark club for millenials. One has to use their phone to see the menu. The burgers weigh appropriately 2oz. I believe the food was actually the last thing they thought about when they created this place. It's not a good place to eat. The people next to me had to yell their entire conversation(I hope you ladies figure out who gave both of you herpes by the way). If you remember and loved Solstice (RIP) then you'll go crazy over the funky, chill vibe that BJ's pumps out from a.m. to p.m. I'll get right to it: Best burgers, hot dogs, brunch and bar tending/serving crew from NoDa to South End!!! From front to back of house, this is probably the coolest, most cohesive bunch I've seen in years. Personally, I love the "no frills, get your eat and drink on" atmosphere; everyone is welcome! Great craft beer selections, but Bud Light is in house as well if you prefer to keep it simple like my hubs. Best food in NoDa! Sticky sweet chili nuggs are a must. Or the sliders (Greg Brady and the Leghorn are my faves) and hot dogs and burgers are fantastic as well. The atmosphere here is very nice and the decorations in side are funny. The workers here are also very very nice. The food however is not that great for the price. The doughnuts and fried Oreos are very good. But the other food is quite mediocre. I wouldn't come here again for the food, but maybe for a good time. read more

Love this place just don't order a salad! I paid 13 dollars for a salad that I could see the bottom of the bowl when they gave it to me. It was probably one small head of lettuce. The rest of the food is pretty good though! read more

Tried this cute Noda place the other day. I was impressed with the decor, it was much different than other Noda restaurants. It's got a lot of wood and cool memorabilia around. This place also has a fried Oreo eating contest and that is AWESOME! I'm in training to become the reigning champ, but that could take a while. In the meantime, I'll stick to their sliders. I had a Mr. Miyagi (most delicious), a slider with Mac & Cheese & BBQ chips on top (super good), and a regular one (for reference). I also got tots. All of the sliders were good even though I ranked mine. The tots were crispy and there ranch was good, which is important to this gal! I only gave it 4 stars because when I went in, it was busy and I felt like my waitress was a little overworked/overwhelmed. They could have used an additional staff member. read more

Billy Jack's Shack's burger is one of the best burgers in Charlotte. I sell beef for a living and the quality of their burgers beef is top notch. Not only was the burger fantastic, I was greeted right as I walked in, the bartender was quick and informative with his menu knowledge on the beer both bottled and on draft, as well as quickly running me through the entire menu pointing out the different features adding in his favorite tasting 10 Napkin burger to sell. I ordered my burger to go and the packaging was perfect to keep the crinkle cut french fries hot but not soggy as well as the temperature of the burger still hot until the last bite more than a half hour later. This is my first review I have ever written and felt compelled to give you 5 stars for one of the best burgers I've had in Charlotte. Literally just had the best wings in Charlotte. And I'm not exaggerating! This place has the most unique sauces and the mac n cheese is creamy and good! As a regular of Jack Brown's/Billy Jack's of Harrisonburg and of Jack Brown's in Richmond, I was excited to visit the NODA location. Unfortunately, our experience at Billy Jack's was unexpectedly poor. Everything went smoothly until we attempted to order food, as we were informed by our server 30 minutes afterward that our order had been lost by the kitchen staff or a manager. At that point, we were told by our server that half of our meal would be comped based on this error After reordering food, we were offered a free round of drinks by one of the managers. Our food order then arrived, which was at this point about an hour after our first order. I ordered two food items, one of which did not come with the initial food order, so I had to reorder this item for the third time. Our server then informed us that this food item would be comped due to the fact that it had now been an hour and a half since I initially ordered it. I will say that the food was excellent per usual. Following our meal, there was confusion regarding our checks from the server and our party, as we were not comped for drinks or food. After discussing this with our server, she spoke with the manager, who would not communicate directly with our party. At the end of a lengthy conversation, we were then told that our food would be lightly discounted (25%). We were made to feel that we were at fault for the errors with food/drink orders and that we were serving as some sort of mediator between the server and the manager. While I understand that a large party (we had eight) may be more difficult to serve than a smaller party, the restaurant was not full and other tables seemed to be having a "normal" dining experience. Overall, the service was some of the worst I've had at any restaurant, which is sad to say based on the excellent experiences I've usually had at Jack Brown's/Billy Jack's. read more

This is my go to spot. Amazing food with a laid back feel. I am biased because I know some of the staff on a personal level but I wouldn't post a review if I didn't truly mean it. The food is phenomenal with an awesome selection of craft beers that rotate constantly. They do a lot of tap take overs with different breweries as well. Cool venue, but had a poor experience with what is the rudest bartender I've ever had the displeasure of ordering from. Second time being there, would not return if it wasn't for the cool venue. Will never order again from said bartender. Suggestion to management, clean up or discipline your team members who clearly hate their job, hate people, and are just clearly not suited for the stress of handling orders. Nutshell: Worst experience I've ever had with a servicing team member but occurred in a cool venue. read more
