General Tso Bowl with Added Shrimp

A visit to Burtons Grill & Bar should be a must when you come to Charlotte, NC! The aroma draws you into the upscale establishment with picture frame windows, eclectic seating, and bar dining in the center of the restaurant. Appetizers featuring Colossal Shrimp with house made Cucumber Salad and their Meaty, Dry Rubbed Wings were excellent starters! Aaliyah was an amazing Server as she catered to our passion for great food! The Seven Layer Chocolate Cake was the Perfect Ending to a Great Meal. My only suggestion is to serve the Seven Layer Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream!

Service was good (thanks, Kevin!). The setting was casual dining and had ample space for seating. I had the General Tso Cauliflower and it was tasty. A friend had a Caesar Salad and enjoyed it. My downside was my Mediterranean Chicken Risotto. The protein portion size was good - but the chicken was bland and I wished for a larger rice portion. I put a good amount of salt and pepper on the chicken but it was super pale and had zero flavor. The lemon butter sauce with pesto drops was a great add on, but it probably needs more. Friends

Firstly, I loved how allergen friendly they are. They immediately ask you if there's any allergies to be aware of and are helpful when ordering. My husband has a serious dairy allergy, so considerations like these are crucial for a stress-free dining experience. Food was pretty good, too! My only criticism is that flavor felt lacking to an extent. For example, the chicken piccatta was great! But... I had to ask for a lemon to squeeze over it because I couldn't taste any lemon. However beyond that, it was a good experience. Nice and elegant atmosphere, great service, and good food!

I called 3 days in advance to book a reservation for a party of 7. I was told they could only accommodate a group of 6, I booked it anyways. As a turn of event , one of my friends cancelled. When we got to our table, it had 7 chairs! Not sure why I was lied to. Menu was decent. Paying for table bread is crazy though. I was also disappointed they didn't offer oysters nor mussels. Ordered: she-crab soup, crab crusted haddock with jasmine rice and broccoli. The service was slow. But the restaurant wasn't packed. There were quite a few empty tables. It Took over 40 minutes for everyone to get their appetizers and entrees weren't service until an hour into the service. Despite the service, the food was pretty good. She-crab soup was nice and HOT! I hate luke warm soup so I was happy it was hot. The serving size of the haddock was huge. The fish was crispy and well seasoned but the rice was bland and broccoli was too soft/mushy. I also tried some of my friend's spinach artichoke dip; it was good except it was too salty.

Went on Valentines Night - Thankfully they had some extra space for a small party of 5. Our waitress was attentive, she gave us pretty good recommendations, and made sure we had what we needed. I got the Cabernet Braised Short Ribs w/ Mashed Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts and I definitely could taste to Cabernet. I wasn't expecting them to have a strong cab taste, but they were fine. The potatoes tasted a bit earthy considering there wasn't any peeling in them. The brussels sprouts was good. We also go the Filet Mignon, and it was under cooked, we asked for medium well and it was cooked medium rare. Then we get to the NY Strip, the strip was probably the best tasting out of the 3 in my opinion. The menu wasn't huge but still had some diverse options depending on what you're looking for. Overall, still a good place for an intimate night out considering their large cocktail/drink options. I'd go back but I'd definitely order a few different things next time.

I've been meaning to get back to Burtons since the Yelp event, and the chance for a proper date night finally appeared. We arrived to a very busy dining room, just ahead of the Friday evening rush. After a short wait while the host checked on tables, we were shown to a comfortable booth. Our waitress was lovely and took excellent care of us, including a clear explanation of their allergy procedures. We're not gluten free, but it was reassuring to see that level of attention. We started with the bread service, which was a great choice. A warm pull‑apart roll with olive oil, butter and tapenade made for a simple, satisfying appetizer before the main courses arrived. Mrs. K chose the crabcake sandwich, a generous crabcake on a brioche bun with truffle fries. I'm not convinced the truffle fries were worth the upgrade since most of the topping had fallen off, and my regular fries were excellent. Your mileage may vary. I went with the Maxx Burger, cooked exactly medium rare as requested. A tall, indulgent stack with a big patty, all the trimmings and fried onion strings. Absolutely delicious, a little drippy and completely satisfying. Even though we were both full, dessert still happened. A slice of chocolate cake, boxed to go, packed neatly in a container that fit perfectly with the chocolate and raspberry sauces in small pots. A thoughtful finish. Cindy took wonderful care of us throughout the evening, and the whole experience made for a terrific date night. Burtons is definitely joining our regular rotation. It was my birthday on Wednesday and got this recommendation from TikTok. The music was soo good. Not too loud and not too low. Multiple martini options with delicious flavors. General Tso cauliflower appetizer was one of the best vegetarian menu items offered. Short ribbed grilled cheese was delicious. It was like the adult version of what is considered a kids meal. Veggie burger was good. Kids menu offered a decent amount of options. Chicken and mushroom ravioli was good. Bread service. Yum. Yum. Yum. Calamari was well seasoned. Slightly spicy. Shaleen was a good waitress. Patient and attentive.

We come here all the time. The food is always good. I will say the salmon is my favorite, so I got the salmon Caesar and my husband got the ahi poke bowl. The poke bowl was just okay. Also, the pomegranate martini is my favorite.

This was my second time dining here, my first was for brunch. From start to finish, the service both times was amazing. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu regardless of which staff you ask. Our appetizer was the general tso cauliflower and Philly cheesesteak spring rolls. The cauliflower is amazing! The spring rolls were ok but I'm not sure I'd order again. I had the crab crusted haddock as my entree and opted for the sautéed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes as my sides. Both were amazing. As for the atmosphere it's very well decorated, warm lighting and they have indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations highly recommended.

On our 2nd day in Charlotte, I found this place with tons of gluten-free options. There was so much to choose from the gluten-free menu, but we were so amazed by their selection. Here are a few things we got: *Bread Service - shareable gf focaccia served with pesto, herb & garlic butter, olive tapenade. Their sauces were good, but the bread was a bit hard and cold. If it was warm up, it would be easier to spread. Ribeye - 14oz. 28-day aged ribeye, bone marrow butter, seasonal vegetable, garlic mashed potatoes. Delicious cut with their bone marrow butter. *Mediterranean Chicken Risotto -- artichoke hearts, grape tomatoes, spinach, feta, lemon butter sauce, pesto. * Seven-layer chocolate cake -- chocolate frosting, hot fudge, Maldon sea salt, raspberry coulis. Freaking ass delicious and it's gluten-free. Restaurant location: Burton's Grill & Bar 1601 E Woodlawn Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209 Must-try menu items: Gluten free 7 layer chocolate cake Portion sizes: Decent size Menu highlights: So Much Gluten free options for dinner and brunch

5 stars well deserved... they were busy and fully booked and made the effort to attempt to find us a table on walk in. The ribeye steak is worth highlighting and cooked as we wished medium rare. Staff was kind and checked on our allergies as it is a custom here per the waiter. Very elegant and clean inside, with warm lighting combining lots of black and white paintings/photos with industrial geometric shapes in decor.

This is a nice restaurant in Charlotte with good food and cozy ambiance. Have a nice variety of steak ,seafood ,salads a little bit of everything and if you just want a few drinks, they have a nice bar area. My crab crusted haddock was delicious.I had Brussels sprouts and rice with it. They make their sangria there, which is really good. It had a mix of Merlot, Cabernet and some rum in it .

The first time was in November 2025 and 2nd time March 2026 where the bartenders were professional, welcoming, knowledgeable, and made some of the best Bloody Marys we've had in Charlotte. The food was excellent, and we left both times excited to come back. Unfortunately, this Sunday's visit (around 2 p.m.) felt like a different restaurant. It was much busier, and service was noticeably lacking. We waited quite a while just to be acknowledged, our drinks weren't nearly the quality they had been before, and the Bloody Mary tasted like it came straight from a mix instead of being handcrafted like our previous visits. The food was also disappointing. It was much saltier than we remembered, and we never received the Caesar salad with steak we ordered. To the staff's credit, it wasn't on our bill, so we didn't mention it. Overall, no one was rude, but the attention to detail, professionalism, and overall experience that earned our previous five-star reviews just wasn't there this time. We're hoping this was simply an off day because we genuinely loved this place and would like to see it return to the high standard that made us regular customers.

They have cornhole and ping pong and just a fun atmosphere out there. Our server was warm and attentive. We did not have to wait for refills and she was quick to answer any questions we had. We started with a few apps - the chips and onion dip and the pigs in a blanket. The chips were well salted and the onion dip was DELISH!!! The pigs were wrapped in homemade party dough and came with a honey mustard crème fraiche. They were so good!! For entrees we tried the fried chicken, prime rib dip, and the meatloaf. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. The mashed potatoes were so good too. The only misstep on this dish was the biscuit. Way too dense and not very flavorful. The prime rib dip was tender and came on the most crispy bread. What a great combo! The only thing that wasn't great were the fries, just nothing too special. The meatloaf dish was flavorful and came with those yummy mashed potatoes so great pairing. We didn't have room for dresser on site but we did take the monkey bread to go and enjoyed it later. Good portion size and full of apple and caramel flavor. Did not regret taking that home!! Really looking forward to this spot opening closer to home. Highly recommended

The food is over the moon delicious with plenty of options and reasonable serving sizes. Even with the slightly high price point, it is well worth every penny. And they take allergies SO seriously! Literally went through a bunch of ingredients to find what would and wouldn't be dairy-allergy safe. Atmosphere is fun but cozy, too. 100% recommend! In-depth: Postino has quickly become one of my favorite places in the CLT area after my 10/10 experience here. To start, the food. My word, it's amazing! Everything my friend and I tried was delicious. The bruschetta is 100% worth trying (the spinach artichoke one is my favorite), and the west coaster panini + romaine salad was tasty at every bite. Their wine is also good quality, with a decent-sized portion poured. Allergy safety is a major thing for them, too. Our server (Lee = the best waitress!) and her manager looked through their bread and ingredients for about 30 minutes to confirm what was and wasn't dairy safe (I asked how dairy allergies are handled for when I bring my husband next time). They also had quite a few gluten-free options, too. The manager explained that she wants people to be able to just come in and relax for a few hours without worrying if they'll get sick, which I truly, truly appreciate. Lee shared a similar sentiment, which was amazing. Now price... Yes, it is a *bit* pricey, but it is well worth it. Nothing felt lacking as far as flavor goes, and the allergy safety is a huge thing. This is one of the few places I felt my sandwich and salad were worth every penny, even if it was $17. Also, their rewards program is great. I got a free bruschetta board, and they offer several other perks. Make sure to sign up before or while dining there to get some good deals! In addition to their sincere care for allergy safety, the service is fantastic all around. They do group service, meaning you'll have several servers, and they encourage you to grab anyone if you have questions. This takes the pressure off of waiting for one server to walk by and really helped me relax. And the atmosphere? I could stay there all day! It's a really fun vibe, but the lighting and seating are very cozy. Overall, I've already recommended this place to 5+ people and will be returning soon

I loved the veggies. Looking for foodie vibes, grab your friends and enjoy a night at the Crunkleton. Pro-Tip: parking is validated; arrive early to avoid crowds

300 East - Fried Chicken and Biscuit, so tasty for a brunchie bite. Super tender and moist, seasoned chix breast.

They have always had, in my estimation, the best French onion soup around and I was craving it, so off I went. The restaurant off East Boulevard is an eclectic sort of place, and in my memory the interior hasn't ever changed. The wood is dark, the tables a bit worn and packed together to give a slightly claustrophobic feel, and the decor is always vaguely counterculture. For people who like NoDa and Plaza Midwood (before its recent transformation), it's homey as can be. I enjoyed the familiarity of its unpretentious surroundings as I took a seat in a tiny corner booth. Delighted to note that the French onion soup is as delicious as ever, with a richly flavored broth and a generous amount of bread and cheese baked in. While the quality hasn't diminished, thank heavens, the size has gone from a bowl to a cup. As it was my upcharged side I didn't mind terribly but still. Alas. Kudos to the kitchen for letting me have my soup before my sandwich was delivered, but here is where things went a little south. I had ordered The Usual, one of their trademark dishes, a hot open-faced chicken salad sandwich on a baguette topped with asparagus, mushrooms and cheese. It too has been the victim of shrinkflation, about 2/3 as big as once it was. Again, didn't mind terribly much but the toppings themselves were scant: three small strips of jarred or canned asparagus, four slices of mushroom. Okay, everything is expensive these days, but the edges of the sandwich were burned and the filling was cool, meaning the salamander setting was off and no one checked it before sending it out or putting it down. I might have considered sending it back but that's when my server disappeared. My water glass sat empty for half my meal and was never refilled. Even paying the check was sluggish. So I give the current state 300 East a solid three with a disappointed sigh because they seem to be phoning it in. Really great French onion soup, though.

I stopped by for an iced Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte made with Hex Coffee and oat milk. It has a great balance of espresso without being cloying, making it one of my favorite drink orders on the trail. Alongside it, the little gem wedge salad was fresh, crisp, and held up surprisingly well to go. Also, shoutout to their $10 chicken tender Tuesdays; their specials are easily some of the best weeknight food deals in South End. I haven't made it out for trivia yet, but between the patio vibes, solid menu, and easy trail access, it's such an effortless place to hang out. Definitely keeping this one on heavy rotation!

My step dad also gave me some of his chicken and waffles which was really good. I ordered fries with my food and they came out cold though and when I asked the waitress for new ones she didn't bring them until we were ready to leave. It was somewhat busy so I understand the hold up but it was a side item and by that point I didn't want them anymore. The inside was kind of bland and the table was sticky. I don't like leaving bad reviews but if you want good food I would suggest it, but I think theres better spots out here for cheaper.
