Just bought a cord of DAMP WOOD! This has been burning for a couple hours and it just won't flame up. Plus they are extremely careless when putting it in the truck bed. They almost broke the window! Wood was bouncing off the rear window and it damaged the rubber edges of the bed. We should have spent $40 extra for a 5 star place! read more

Be careful when buying their "topsoil". It is commercially made and high in clay content. Clay content in manufactured topsoil is generally below25% if you read department of transportation specifications. I estimate roughly 40% of the supposed topsoil I bought was clay based on the waste I encountered. I brought the material back to the store and spoke to Matt who I was told was in charge. Matt said the topsoil was perfectly fine. He told me the soil was wet and frozen, leading to the clumping I was experiencing. So I took him at his word as this is his business. I reworked the "topsoil" and still ended up pulling a lot of clay out. I deeply regret listening to him. What a disaster. I have probably 10 cubic feet of clay waste in a pile that I pulled out in clumps. That 10 CF of clay came out of a purchase of 27 cubic feet (1 cubic yard). That amount does not count the clay balls left in place because I finally felt defeated and quit pulling the clay balls out. 25% clay content is the upper clay content limit in DOT specs and this mixture appears to have much higher content. Further, many of the clay balls were not small. Many were between 3" and 8" in diameter which is an indication of poor mixing on top of high clay content. read more

Wandering around nurseries and garden centers was a hobby of mine this past Summer/Fall. That's how I ended up with over 60 houseplants (oops) and an experience at nearly every garden center in the area. I enjoyed my experience at Jack Frost even though I never quite found a plant that I was looking to add to my collection. Customer service was always friendly without being pushy. People were always masked and following social distance guidelines even in the outdoor spaces which I always appreciated. The prices are competitive with the other nurseries in VB. I look forward to the spring when it'll be time for repotting and plant shopping. I might be expanding my outdoor plant collection a bit this year. If I do, Jack Frost will be one of my first stops! read more

Do not buy mulch from here. I've been doing mulch for years and bought 3 yards from here and the first time it rained, all the dye washed out. I called to speak with manager and I was told I'd get a call. No call, so I finally call back and got someone on the phone. They was very rude, kept making excuse after excuse. I was told it needed to sit for 4-8 hours before rain, which it did and I informed them of. Then I was told it's just a risk you take with dyed mulch and was out of luck. Finally I asked if I could speak with someone else and he said he was the owner. Wow, some customer service. I wish I would have read all the reviews prior to doing business. Seems pretty common, breaking peoples windows, selling unseasoned wood for seasoned, selling poorly dyed mulch and taking no accountability for anything. Avoid this place. *Unfortunately we can't put statement to their reply, but as stated in review, the mulch was laid well before the 4-8 hours you recommend. Stop making excuses and be accountable for selling cheap materials. The only people prospering is you guys. You lost a good customer by not doing so and not correcting your mistake. I am extremely disappointed in my recent purchase, and how my concerns were addressed after I visited the location. I purchased a dump truck load of topsoil and compost mix. I was very specific with the two Associates what I was trying to do and after unloading and spreading the product I received I think the pictures speak for themselves. The pile definitely stunk like a pig farm so I know I got compost but I have a tremendous amount of rocks and clay and not a lot of topsoil in my opinion. I visited the location this morning asking if someone would be willing to come out to my property and inspect what I received. Instead I received in my opinion what was a bunch of malarkey about topsoil that has been laying around and maybe stuff got mixed in from the truck from a previous delivery etc etc etc..... In my opinion I've attempted to resolve this with the merchant if I do not get a satisfactory response from the merchant after this review I intend on challenging the purchase with my credit card company. I had zero problems with the delivery but the attitude of indifference and what I believe I received and the over 16 hours laboring to load up the wheelbarrow and spread what is not what I expected I am not a happy consumer. Judge for yourself the pictures you see are all the material I received from them spread out and the final picture are the giant clay rocks and boulders that I took the time to set aside but they are all spread out from the mixture as you can see from the pictures. We already have a huge problem with clay in our area which is why I wanted topsoil if I wanted more clay all I had to do is dig a hole in my backyard read more

We had gotten a fig tree from someone that needed to get rid of it because the figs were making their dog sick when they ate them. It was not the right time of year to transplant it, and it was a big tree, so I stopped by Jack Frost Ladscape and Garden Center for advice. Cheryl at the counter was very welcoming and paged Maddie and Gary to come answer my questions. They were very knowledgeable, and gave me some great advice on what to do. Gary had a lot of experience with trees, and even knew the soil composition of my neighborhood when I told him where I lived. I cannot say enough good things about Jack Frost Landscape Company. I was looking for a company to install a "stepping stone" pathway to a memorial bench for my husband. The bench is located in a little park at the entrance to our neighborhood. I met with one of the designers, Didem. She was so patient and understanding and listened to what I had in mind. She came to the site and gave me her expert recommendations which were spot on. I visited with Jack Frost and selected the stone. It was ordered and delivered right on schedule. The Jack Frost installation team arrived punctually and within a few hours, the pathway had been installed. It was PERFECT, exceeding my expectations! Everyone on the team was extremely professional, polite and friendly. I've been calling a bunch of garden centers as my husband & I are looking for a large number of a certain type of plant... almost everyone was short and a bit curt on the phone... I was searching for Cubanelle pepper plants as my wife prepares them in a light batter and pan fry's them, yum yum. I searched Lowe's, Home Depot and Ace. They all are selling Bonny plants, $3.79 per each 3" plant, outrageous. I decided to try Jack Frost when I remembered they are one of the few garden centers that still carry cell packs, that's 3 small plants for almost half the price of one Bonny plant. When you need multiple plants that adds up. At Jack Frost I met a very nice young man, Andrew (Drew), who took a lot of time with me. He knows his plants and loves his job. Unfortunately they had sold out of the pepper's I wanted, but Drew took my name and phone number and called me when they came in. They are now in the ground growing while the high price plants are probably still on the big box store shelf. All of this was for one cell pack for $2.12 inc. tax. Ain't life wonderful? read more

If the behavior of their workers is any indication of the work they provide, there is no way I would ever hire this company to do my landscaping. Stopped at a local fast food joint to get a quick lunch and four or five of their employees came in and treated the place as their own personal break room. The group proceeded to loudly discuss their sexual exploits, misogynistic opinions, and vulgar filled life stories in the presences of an elderly couple and a single elderly man trying to quietly enjoy their food. There was an obvious discomfort in the restaurant and it wasn't eased until the group left. One of the guys even came into the dining room from the restroom still zipping up his pants. And if he doesn't have time to put on his pants in the restroom, he must also not have time to wash his hands. I recommend thinking twice about shaking any of their hands if they come to you and introduce themselves. If this company can't be trusted to hire individuals responsible enough to maintain themselves in a public place, or even care how they represent their company, I can't imagine their work ethic is very trustworthy either. I surely wouldn't trust them with my property, at least not without me providing direct supervision, and I don't have time for that. read more

Ordered a cord of "seasoned" firewood in November. Had no issues with price or delivery, however the wood is definitely not seasoned. Sap drips out the end while burning, with lots of smoke and not a lot of flames. Overall I would judge about 1/8 or less is actually properly seasoned. read more

I will never be doing business here again. I always go here and purchase leaf compost by the yard. I ran out of compost soil on the job and only needed about 12 bags of dirt. Now keep in mind I paid $42 for a full yard of leaf compost soil prior to running out. I sent one of my employees to pick up 12 bags of dirt so we can finish the job and when he gets back to the job I ask him how much he paid for the 12 bags and he says $165. My mind was completely blown away. Because you can get a bag of topsoil at Home Depot for $2 a bag. It would take about 65 bags to make a full yard of dirt which only cost $42 for a full yard. I had 3 bags of compost soil left over and I went to go return them because we didn't use them and I would've got back around $45 which would be the cost of a full yard. They wouldn't even let me return the 3 bags I had left over. I was okay with taking the hit on the other bags because I didn't specify to my employee about the difference in the yards or bags but my thing to the manager was why wouldn't their employee not have told mine it would be a better deal to get the full yard instead of paying 3 times the amount for barely any dirt compared to a full yard. He kept telling me how it was my fault and they can't return ONLY 3 BAGS. You would think after doing a lot of business with a company they would be able to help you out a little more and go the extra mile for you but no. I realized these guys are only about making a sale and not helping out a client. read more

Had all my beds mulched and pavers installed. The crew on site was professional, respectful of our property and polite. James, Mike and Chris did a very good job, and we were very satisfied with the installation. The estimator did not anticipate the obvious need to saw cut the sides of the existing sidewalk so the pavers could be properly installed. This created several disagreements as to whether the saw cuts would be an "extra" or a necessary part of the proper installation. This resulted in a delay of a half a day and the owner finally agreed to the "necessary" cuts without the extra charges. The estimator was late for every appointment and actually stood us up twice. If you can get past all that, the crew who did the work, made up for it all. read more

The "seasoned wood" is not! After buying a 1/4 cord for $85, loading it myself and trying for 2 weeks to get a fire going, this wood is horrible! I even had my chimney inspected yesterday to make sure I wasn't having any drafting issues. The sweep said my stove insert and flue were fine. Looked at the wood and said there's your problem. I admit, I'm no expert at purchasing fire wood. I've owned my house for 4 years and this is the first season I used the stove insert, but after not being able to keep a fire roaring after the fuel has burnt off, no back draft issues and a newly inspected unit, this should be a no brainer. I now see they have other complaints of people having the same issue. I wish I would have checked here first instead of wasting $85! Jack Frost, you need to find another supplier!!! I ordered a 1/2 cord of wood last Sunday from Jack Frost and received the delivery the same afternoon. The wood was stacked neatly and exactly where I wanted. The wood burns beautifully and hot! Even after all the rain we've had, the wood still starts easily. I simply bring some into the house to dry out a little before starting the fire. I wish I had ordered the full cord.
