We are regulars here and the meals are usually fine and we rarely have a problem with our orders. Went to get lunch and was happy to see they offered breakfast all day. Placed the order for the Ultimate Breakfast Croissant (fresh cracked egg, hickory smoked bacon, grilled sausage, ham and cheese on croissant) among other things at the drive thru. First, after unwrapping the sandwich at home, I noticed that the grilled sausage was missing and there was another egg instead of just one. I would not have minded so much IF they informed me that they were out of sausage and would it be okay to substitute it with another egg OR would I rather order something else. Huge lack of communication here. Second, there were eggshells with practically every bite and it was a waste to remove the two eggs. We wanted to try the Kapahulu Jack In The Box because we were hoping it would be better than the Niu Valley location (you can read my review on that Jack In The Box). I used to come to this one all the time back in the 1980s. I only had fond memories. When we walked in, it had the same old musty smell like the Niu Valley Jack In The Box. Soda area was pretty dirty with lots of spilled soda all over and no employees bother to wipe it down. The Jumbo Jack was SO SMALL!! Barely anything in it!! They also didn't have ketchup!! How odd is that to not have ketchup? Some customer lost his temper and started yelling at the workers and eventually got into it with the manager. He claimed he was waiting for an hour for his food, which I highly doubt, but it was quite entertaining hearing him scream his head off at the manager. "I don't want my food now because you guys will probably spit in it!" He kept saying that over and over. It was pretty funny. Anyway, the place was just as smelly and dirty as the Niu Valley location, and the Jumbo Jack wasn't very "jumbo"! Hahaha!! It's gonna be Jumbo Jack for dinner and that made the decision easy as it was a freebie collaboration and all you need is their app. Decided on this Kapahulu location which sits on a very busy corner of Kapahulu/Mo'oheau but does have exits on either street making it easy to navigate whichever direction you choose. I'm usually indecisive so when it's decided for me it's as easy as choosing your location order your item and modify to your choice along with pick up method of carry out or drive thru, the dining room is quite large and nice and clean though I kept my order simple to the single burger it was done fast and easy. We usually visit the Jack in the Box downtown Honolulu but tonight, we visited the Jack in the Box at 633 Kapahulu Avenue. Very sad experience because to start, their soda machine does not work. We visited the restaurant and their milk shake machine was being cleaned. I ordered the Fried Rice Bowl which is always very delicious at the downtown location but at this store, it was horrible! Dry, very little egg, Portuguese sausage and the amount was very little, which for $4.99 was not worth it! My friend got the South West salad for $14.39 which was horrible! Aside from horrible food, and no choices on beverages, the service was slow. It took over 20 minutes to get our order. They were more interested in giving their attention to the drive thru orders than the people inside the dining room. The dining room was dirty and not kept! I used to eat the McDonalds Big Breakfast with spam, Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs and steam rice until I saw a great breakfast plate at JIB. I ordered a Breakfast Combo that includes fried rice with Portuguese sausage, fried spam, scrambled eggs, hash browns and a drink. It was a great breakfast for a quick meal. Who doesn't live fried rice and the cherry on top was the fried rice came with Portuguese sausage. The fried rice was moist, good flavor, warm and good ingredients. The spam tasted pan fried but I believe it is prepared on a flat cook top to get the caramelization. My family and I have experienced the worst service at this location while on vacation in the island of Oahu. We ordered a # 1 combo, and somehow after looking at the receipt, the cashier charged us two orders. To make things worst, I ordered the ube Oreo shake and they made me a regular Oreo shake. I brought it to their attention, and they asked me if I was sure because they said I didn't order it. Then why would you give it to me with my order? My curly fries was at room temperature and was obviously sitting around too long. The sourdough bread was soggy and stale when I expected it to be toasty. I had to drive back to the restaurant to get a new sandwich and was inconvenienced. The bread on the new sandwich was also soggy, stale, and not toasty as it appears in advertisements. This is my favorite location! 7 times out of 10 when I use a large bill ($100 or $50) they give me back MORE money that I'm supposed to get. I usually notice when I get home and realize that "huh, I was supposed to get back like $34 but now I have $60 in my wallet". Technically I got a refund/free food that day. People complain about the food but honestly just don't order eggs. I've gotten about 6 sandwiches with eggshells in them over the years and they usually get my order wrong in the drive thru. Today at around 11:40 AM I went to Jack in the Box on King Street. I had a coupon in the newspaper so I told my coworkers I was going to buy them lunch. I always see coupons in the newspaper and think to myself that I should use them sometime. So I brought one home and used it today. I ordered the "4 Family Meal Package" and when I brought it to the office, I was really embarrassed. The chicken sandwich had a slice of lettuce and a thin fried chicken patty. The Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger had no cheese, just one piece of slice of lettuce and a slice of tomato, and mayo on top. The hamburger patty was thin and dry. The tacos were soggy because they had been made for a long time and the fries were cold and stiff. I was really disappointed. $21.99 ... . "I should have bought them one by one," I thought regretfully. I was disappointed that the coupons were just used as simple advertising by the company and were used differently from individual purchase orders. If the quality of the food differs so much no matter how many coupons I use, I never want to go to Jack in the Box again. In my case, my husband and I often went there for breakfast sandwiches. They were always delicious and I thought the quality was higher than that of other companies' breakfast menus... I was really disappointed and felt so embarrassed and sorry in front of my colleagues that I promised to buy Chick-fil-A next time. Bernard has the worst customer service! We pulled up to the drive-through and he would not let us order unless we placed our order online. He told us to pull up to the window which we did and then told us to get out of the drive-through so other people can go through. There was nobody behind us in line at all. We were the only people there. When we got to the window and I told him that we were placing our order online, he started cussing us out using the F word telling us to get out of here because we wouldn't drive around again, even though there was no one in the drive-through. The kids really wanted to try Jack in the Box and for me it is really such a nostalgic place. Not only did we eat here often last time we visited Hawaii, they used to have locations in Michigan when I was a young child, so we miss having the tacos. Sadly, the location on the main strip closed but we were able to walk to this one. The fries were pretty good, we tried the curly and regular. I did not love the teriyaki burger sauce that much though, it was a bit disappointing. I would try something else. But their chicken sandwiches, especially the one on the croissant with the hash brown, was very good. But we came for the tacos. Their tacos are so bad they are good. They are a bit gross but in a funny way that you crave them when they are not around then seek them out on vacations. Oddly enough, they were even cheaper than I remember. Last time I was here they were a dollar each. This time they were two for like $1.69 or something, they were an even better deal. Someone also pointed out online, and I noticed this too, they small sodas were like everyone else's mediums or larges. So this is a value place. This review is for the Kapahulu Jack in the Box. First on entering the restaurant, an overpowering sickening smell hit me. I can only describe it as if they used dirty contaminated mop water on the floors. I ordered a chicken sandwich and found that the shredded lettuce was brown. The paper used to wrap the sandwich looked previously used, wrinkled and greasy. When I showed the brown lettuce to the worker she said " That's the only lettuce we have " and then walked away. Management, there is none here, the worst customer service ever. My daughter found a hair in her burger, we returned it and were refunded, and were still met with hostility because we wanted her name and she would not give it to us. I have avoided this Jack in the Box location mainly because of very slow service, but when I dined here today, everything went without a hitch on service, and the food deal wasn't bad either........... So after all of this, why the 2 star review? Well, unfortunately when a restaurant sells pretty inexpensive food, you're basically gonna draw in some characters into this type of establishment. Today's eating adventures at Jack's was one to remember............. Pops wanted to eat a fish sandwich, so I told him I would take him to Jack in the Box (Kapahulu location), as I saw my Yelp buddy - Joyce W. eating this delicious looking fish sandwich the other day, and it also helped that there was a $4.99 Fish Sandwich combo deal going on in da 808! Upon walking up to the counter, there was no line and I only had to wait a minute or so, before someone came up to me, to take my food order. I placed my order for - (2) Fish Combo Sandwich deal (you get a fish sandwich, fries, & soda). What can I say about the grub? For $4.99, I must say this fish sandwich was an OUTSTANDING Deal! Pretty good tasting fish burger, fries came out hot & crispy, and soda fountain drinks were unlimited, as you can help yourself to the open fountain. RESTAURANT ATMOSPHERE - This is where I had to mark down this restaurant by a point............sometimes things are beyond your control, but I think sometimes establishments can do more to protect their business. While eating here this afternoon, I saw 3 incidences within this restaurant that can make any restaurant patron feel pretty uncomfortable............let me tell you about the circus show I saw today - 1. There was a homeless lady camping out in the restaurant ladies bathroom. I don't know what she was doing in the restroom, but since she was camping out, no ladies could use the ladies bathroom. Poor ladies who were dining here had no access to wash up, or use the bathroom. I commend management of this restaurant, as I finally saw the manager come out from the back, then walk to the ladies restroom and pound on the ladies bathroom door & yelling to the person inside the restroom that she was gonna "open up the door" soon, because the homeless individual was taking so long in the bathroom, and no other ladies could use the bathroom. 2. I saw another homeless individual walk into the restaurant, asked for a water cup, then watched him get drinks from the soda fountain. After getting his drink on, I proceeded to see him lean (half of his body) into a trash can that was inside of the restaurant, as he was retrieving discarded food from the trash to eat. 3. The finally..............as I was eating my sandwich with my pops, I saw another homeless individual riffle thought a trash can located outside of the Jack in the Box restaurant (the trash can was in the Jack in the Box parking lot / bus stop area). After grabbing bottles & cans from the trash for recycling, this individual picks up a discarded Jack in the Box soda cup (you get where I'm going with this?). Next thing ya know, he walks into the restaurant with his dog, heads straight to the men's restroom to wash out the dirty cup he picked up from the trash, then heads straight to the open soda fountain. Aiyah! I've seen this time & time again with fast food restaurants with open fountains..............so sad. After seeing all of this going on, of course we knew we could not go back to refill our drinks, and pops basically told me it was time to go..............I don't blame him. Came to this location because I needed something quick and cheap. Got the 2 for $0.99 tacos and the creamy avocado lime sauce. This was different. The tacos were open. Not sealed and deep fried. Lots of lettuce. Dumped the avocado n lime with the taco sauce in there and it was rocking . That avocado lime was terrific. Had to dig the pod out of the bag and lick it clean. I don't know if it's like this at the other locations, but it was good! Definitely going to have to order after work for the trip home. It's a gotta try. read more

I would double/triple check your order after you get them because I was charged for the correct items, but what they gave me is completely different. It's amazing how it's still there.
