About a month ago I walked by a man eating a burrito at the beach and I couldn't help noticing that the tortilla looked better than any other I'd seen in Hawaii. I believe that Mexican food is only as good as the tortilla, so I asked him where he got it and he said "Thyda's - bro you have to go!" Well, today I finally went and let me tell you - that random beach man was absolutely right! I got the carnitas burrito and it was simply perfect. At $12, I'd say it was reasonably priced too. Service was fast and Thyda and Magid - the husband and wife owners - were so friendly and chill. You can tell they take a lot of pride in what they do and love whipping up great food with a great attitude. They talked to us while we ate and shared a little of their 10 year taco stand journey. I wasn't surprised to learn they spent years in LA. The food definitely holds up to LA standards. Head's up - there's no tables and not much seating or parking. I ordered the asada taco and asada mulita. I much preferred the mulita and would get it again. It was my first time having one. I also got the horchata. Service was nice. They have sauces out to pack with your food. I didn't see any tables to sit, but it's in the ward village area so easy to walk somewhere to sit and eat. read more

I love these tacos (and burritos and mulitas). Best I've ever had anywhere I guess. I've had everything on the menu except jackfruit and quesadillas and bowls. Everything is so good. hooray for taco tuesday! staff super busy yet efficient. there's a lopsided bench for 4-6 people, but most people eat in their cars. my tacos were ready in about 15 minutes... i didn't order in advance. food quality was good and authentic. i found the pollo bland... won't order it again. one was vastly superior to the others... it was shredded and juicy... not sure if it was carnitas or beef I should have paid more attention but i was rushing to a meeting... i guess i'll have to go back next week.. lol. the cilantro, onions and jalapeño elevated the meal... i appreciated the grilled onion. i dont like spicy hot... the jalapeño was pickled and mild, so it matched my flavor profile. heat lovers should use their hot salsa. overall i'd normally give this place a 4 out of 5, but taco tuesday bumps it up a star. i hear the mulitas are good... will try that too read more

Got referred to this place a while back and figured I'd check it out. Was not disappointed. Had some carnitas tacos and a steak burrito. Do yourself a favor and get the tacos with all the extras. Everything was just straight up excellent taco truck food. Reasonably fast food service, (for making food to order). Friendly staff. Decent prices for a small local place, and I don't mind paying it. Oh, and one thing: Please leave a tip if you do decide to go here. I've seen too many small shops get overwhelmed by stiff tourists who read these reviews and storm the place only to cheap out on the tip. Keep local business alive. There are limited drink options and no real seating. But this is how it should be. Just order your food and either eat it standing up in the lot or in your car like a real foodie. A small unassuming little taco, burrito, and quesadilla stand. Located behind Whole Foods, Thyda's is my favorite Mexican food place around. The food is made fresh and everything is wonderfully seasoned. The salsas are also incredibly delicious (be careful though the habanero one is SPICY!) There's no seating, but you can take your food and eat at Whole Foods or even Ala Moana beach park. Also, there isn't much parking AROUND the stand, but you can park at Whole Foods. The food is delicious! It takes a bit of time for the food to come out though, so be ready to wait. The service is always nice - served with a smile and friendly. We'll keep coming back !! read more

Best burrito on O'ahu, hands down. The tortilla is perfectly chewy and soft. The burrito is packed to the brim with fillings that are well balanced, including rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, and optional guac add on. I love the cilantro in the guac. I got a carnitas burrito and the carnitas was tender and flavorful! I tried the carne asada too and that was perfectly cooked and cut into smaller pieces, which gave the burrito a great mouthfeel. It was pretty busy at 1pm on a Monday, but they were able to prepare two burritos in about 10-15 minutes. Not much outdoor seating as it's a food stand across from Whole Foods off Queen Street. Definitely try all of their sauces. The orange salsa is spicy!! And I love spice. read more

Luckily I called in and was able to get my order secure. My boyfriend and I have to say this must be the best street tacos on the island. They are so good! It's a small setup, but there are a few benches where you can sit while waiting for your food. I got the asada quesadillas ($12), and they were pretty good. So warm, filling, and super cheesy--which I love--but I'd knock off 1 star because it's a bit pricey for the portion size. There's a little station by the truck window with sauces you can help yourself to, along with small cups and lids to take them with you since this is a grab-and-go spot. I especially loved the green sauce. I'm not sure if it's store-bought or homemade, but it was delicious and gave the quesadillas an extra kick of flavor. I'd come back to try more, but the pricing might hold me back a bit. That said, I did notice their tacos are half-priced on Tuesdays, so that's worth checking out if you're looking for a deal! read more

The lengua taco was super succulent and the carnitas taco was very tasty! I loved that they had the authentic side veggies and I enjoyed the salsas. The meat had just the right amount of juice for great flavor in the tacos while not falling apart, and the tortillas kept together well. Very nice people. Friendly and helpful. We got the carnitas, asada and pollo tacos. Wasn't impressed with the asada and pollo. Carnitas was good, it had more flavor and the crispy ends to the pork. The tacos were on the bland side. The salsa only made the tacos marginally better. I'm hoping I just came on a bad day because they were busy with what seemed like a lot of regular customers.
