Got referred to this place a while back and figured I'd check it out. Was not disappointed. Had some carnitas tacos and a steak burrito. Do yourself a favor and get the tacos with all the extras. Everything was just straight up excellent taco truck food. Reasonably fast food service, (for making food to order). Friendly staff. Decent prices for a small local place, and I don't mind paying it. Oh, and one thing: Please leave a tip if you do decide to go here. I've seen too many small shops get overwhelmed by stiff tourists who read these reviews and storm the place only to cheap out on the tip. Keep local business alive. There are limited drink options and no real seating. But this is how it should be. Just order your food and either eat it standing up in the lot or in your car like a real foodie. A small unassuming little taco, burrito, and quesadilla stand. Located behind Whole Foods, Thyda's is my favorite Mexican food place around. The food is made fresh and everything is wonderfully seasoned. The salsas are also incredibly delicious (be careful though the habanero one is SPICY!) There's no seating, but you can take your food and eat at Whole Foods or even Ala Moana beach park. Also, there isn't much parking AROUND the stand, but you can park at Whole Foods. The food is delicious! It takes a bit of time for the food to come out though, so be ready to wait. The service is always nice - served with a smile and friendly. We'll keep coming back !! read more

Lucky to find myself munching down tacos on a Tuesday from Thyda's. Funny how food locks in a core memory as I was visiting here with my neighbor as our building was evacuated from a fire that day. Needless to say, the service was so quick and attentive and the perfect spot to distract myself from the state of my home since the flavour was the perfect amount of spice. Best burrito on O'ahu, hands down. The tortilla is perfectly chewy and soft. The burrito is packed to the brim with fillings that are well balanced, including rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, and optional guac add on. I love the cilantro in the guac. I got a carnitas burrito and the carnitas was tender and flavorful! I tried the carne asada too and that was perfectly cooked and cut into smaller pieces, which gave the burrito a great mouthfeel. It was pretty busy at 1pm on a Monday, but they were able to prepare two burritos in about 10-15 minutes. Not much outdoor seating as it's a food stand across from Whole Foods off Queen Street. It's so busy and taco Tuesday is crazy busy! Either $2 or $2.5 tacos. There's a variety of sauces you can self serve right in front. I ordered the beef cheeks, beef tongue, and the asada tacos. Luckily I called in and was able to get my order secure. My boyfriend and I have to say this must be the best street tacos on the island. They are so good! The beef cheeks were tender and so were the beef tongue. I honestly couldn't tell which were which! I love the salsa verde. The red and orange sauces were spicy. Thyda's Tacos is a small, hidden food truck tucked on the side of Queen Street, right across from the Whole Foods parking lot. It's a small setup, but there are a few benches where you can sit while waiting for your food. I got the asada quesadillas ($12), and they were pretty good. So warm, filling, and super cheesy--which I love--but I'd knock off 1 star because it's a bit pricey for the portion size. There's a little station by the truck window with sauces you can help yourself to, along with small cups and lids to take them with you since this is a grab-and-go spot. I especially loved the green sauce. I'm not sure if it's store-bought or homemade, but it was delicious and gave the quesadillas an extra kick of flavor. I'd come back to try more, but the pricing might hold me back a bit. Can't believe I haven't reviewed Thydas... Hands down the best Mexican on island. Friendly staff even when they're slammed, super consistent, and very reasonably priced for the portions. Call ahead if you can during rush hours since it can definitely get busy. Park at whole foods garage. My favorite is the barbacoa burrito. I love how savory and tender the barbacoa is, how packed the burrito is with rice/beans/salsa/sour cream, and how warm and crispy but soft the tortilla is after they grill it. The lengua taco was super succulent and the carnitas taco was very tasty! I loved that they had the authentic side veggies and I enjoyed the salsas. The meat had just the right amount of juice for great flavor in the tacos while not falling apart, and the tortillas kept together well. I parked at the Whole Foods parking garage since I went shopping there after, and there's a bench you can sit on that has an umbrella or you can take your food to go. Very nice people. Friendly and helpful. We got the carnitas, asada and pollo tacos. Wasn't impressed with the asada and pollo. Carnitas was good, it had more flavor and the crispy ends to the pork. The tacos were on the bland side. The salsa only made the tacos marginally better. I'm hoping I just came on a bad day because they were busy with what seemed like a lot of regular customers. Food here is amazing with vegan / vegetarian options available. This is the go to place for my family when we are looking to pick up some burritos, we come at least once or twice a month. It's best to call in your order as they are normally busy. Chill spot where you can see all the workers doing their thing to get the orders out quick! The orange salsa was delicious but too spicy for me. You can call in an order over the phone for pick up, there's no on site parking but you can find street parking close by or use the Whole Foods deck. It's a food truck nestled in a corner by a mechanic workshop building. If you are driving, the best thing may be to just park in the Whole Foods parking deck across the street and walk over. We purchased four tacos. When we got home, I pulled out the Pollo first and man... talk about weak sauce. Two tortillas with some very small portions of chicken. We also ordered the Lengua, Jackfruit, and Asada. The Lengua was probably the best, but we also covered it with sauce. The Jackfruit was unique but didn't blow me away. The Asada was pretty much standard. Came with all the toppings you'd expect... radishes, pickled carrots, grilled onions. This would've been a 2-3 star in our opinion... but the sauces brought it up to a 3. They were pretty good, especially the green sauce. Not sure if they are store bought or homemade, but they were delicious and spicy. If you come here, the rice bowls and burritos looked better than what we got. TLDR: Four tacos.. I always see this place when I drive by in the evening and it's closed, but got lucky one Saturday . Right behind Whole Foods on Queen Street this little food stand parked in front of a mural of Kobe Bryant and his daughter has a very Kakaako vibe. Growing up in Hawaii I'm no expert but their tacos and menu seem pretty authentic. I wasn't very hungry so went for the street tacos. I got the lengua and which was very tender and the jackfruit which was my healthy option. Both had flavor. They make the tacos fresh while you wait on a little bench.
