Jack Jacks is relatively new for the Babylon area. Whenever I'm out home from the city my mom and I will frequent here with our dog (yes, they're dog friendly) for cold brew and a muffin. So, I really wanted to like this place. However, I've had a couple of issues after another and it makes me not want to return. I tried ordering the avocado BLT on A Tuesday through an online order. I arrived to pick up my order and the owner told me that they didn't have it because the chefs weren't there during the week. I was offered to pick something else that was pre made, but I have a high gluten intolerance. So, there was only one option and it contained ingredients that I don't like. The owner was having a tough time finding the order to put back on my card, but gave me a $25 gift card in place. He said he'd also put the money back on my card if I come back. I ended up coming back during the weekend and tried to order the same thing, however I was told that the kitchen was closed. Put signs up or leave a message somewhere. My new favorite coffee shop! This place is so warm and inviting but also has that like shore-vibe going on. I love that you can get your coffee in a mug or glass if you sit there. I ended up ordering an iced mocha and I believe there was shredded chocolate in it which was different but so good. I decided to stay and read a book and I'm glad I did. This place has like a friendly, tight-knit community type of environment. Everyone seemed so friendly and the customers seemed to personally know the staff as well as each other. I went here because I saw a lady on the street with a nicely designed coffee cup and asked her where the place was. The large coffee I got was good. I was asked if I wanted milk and I said "almond milk". I thought it was odd that I couldn't just put my own non-dairy creamer in like at my local coffee shop. When I got my change, it was less than I expected and I looked at the menu and realized I had paid 75 cents extra for a little almond milk. This was not a whole drink made from almond milk. Now, this is what gets me... first, I didn't think any small coffee shops did this anymore. Secondly, 75 cents would be more than a third of a quart container of almond milk. Thirdly, as a business you already have to purchase all kinds of milk and milk alternatives... so why don't you charge 45 cents for a splash of regular milk, because almond milk costs about 70 percent more? This way it seems like you are punishing people for using milk alternatives and it a huge turnoff. Another turnoff was being told that you stopped brewing decaf three hours ago. Like I should have known better. It would have sounded better to say sorry we are closing soon and we don't have any left for today. read more

The coffee wasn't terrible but extremely overpriced. I almost fell to the ground when they told it was almost $11 for a SMALL iced latte. They served it to me in a hot cup and I really don't think there was much coffee in there. It was finished within a few sips. So happy I stumbled upon this coffee shop! They have delicious coffee, great service and a relaxing atmosphere all wrapped up in a nice package. Located right on North Bablyon's main strip, it is easy to drive up and park in front. The shop is open and inviting. The trendy, yet simple decor is cozy and functional. There are small tables for quick meet ups, cozy couches for a relaxing sip and bar stools facing the street for private computer sessions. I stopped in to get some work done and I was happy to have free fast wifi. The barista offered to bring me my cappuccino at my seat and asked if I wanted a dusting of cinnamon (yes :)) I noticed they had grilled cheeses and pastries to nosh on as well. This place was a random find as I was transferring and waiting for a train at Babylon. I went to 2 deli's right by the station, but didn't feel like getting coffee there. After I stepped out of the immediate area, I found this place! Prices are comparable to NYC coffee shops that I am familiar with. For what is available in that immediate area and from the quality of the products, honestly, the price is understandable. However, I understand that folks who are from the area might find this place too pricy. I loved the space and service. Friendly and open. Nice baristas but soooooo overpriced it's not even funny. I paid 7 dollars for an iced cold brew. Yes 7. And that was a medium. Cost me 15 dollars for a snack and a drink. Oy. And it took about 10 minutes for someone to ring me up and I was the only customer. Like I said, nice workers but I feel like there's something missing. Great local coffee shop in Babylon. Came here twice the other day. Good cold brew coffe is my favorite, so whenever I see a shop have it homemade I have to try it. It was really good, and was a self serve tap to pour your own which was cool. My girlfriend got an iced americano which was very good as well.They Layout is nice and an enjoyable place to sit and enjoy a coffe, with a few outdoor tables too. My only knock would be is that it is pricey. A cold brew and americano were almost $12. They had avacado brownies, which were good, but for $4.50 for a very tiny piece it was not worth it, I would not get again. Entering the cafe you're greeted with a clean, shabby chic whitewashed decor-- very suiting for the Babylon village area. The vibe is airy, relaxing and seems community oriented. Slightly more hip then your stereotypical cafe but still cool. I'd consider hanging around with a brew and a book sometime, however twice so far, I've walked out disappointed. The first round was completely forgivable. It was late(ish) on a weeknight and they were basically out of everything I wanted with a sad few cookies remaining on the counter. Shop was closing in 10. The staff was quite friendly and offered to let us shoot the breeze inside for a bit, however, I totally understood they want to go home too. I walked out with a chai latte in hand sipping it idly. Not bad! The second round was not as forgivable. Thanks to yelp events, and my love of stouts... I'm a sail away devotee! Nitrogen infused smoooooth coffee on tap? Holy coffee beans, count me in! I was elated to discover that Jack Jack had a tap so I ran in to get some before a little road trip out east. My bubbling excitement turned as flat as my coffee. Yeah, you read that right. I know what its supposed to taste like and there was simply not enough nitrogen in the coffee. It was okay but flat, and not worth the price we paid for it. Like a good customer, I politely mentioned it to the girl pouring and she seemed to think it looked okay. It looked to me like the nitro pressure needed adjusting, but I'm no expert. I'm not one to create conflict so I just took the two coffees and moped out. I could be wrong, however most of pastries do not look to be done in house. Stumbled upon this place before getting my haircut across the street at Hairstories. I was drawn in by the adorable storefront with chairs and flowers that made it look like a quaint front porch. I got a cold brew coffee and it was great, didn't even need sugar. I also got a water bottle and it came out to $6.50. Kind of steep, but it was a really good coffee... This is my first time here. Really good food and great drink options. Like, I'm surprised how fresh and delicious everything is. The people who work here are so pleasant. I usually sit at a crowded bar for lunch if I have daylight hours to waste. But like, I'm tired of all that. The coffee house just opened, but the nutritional advisor is helping the owners diversify their menu, which is slated to include sandwiches (traditional, vegan, or gluten-free), pastries, cookies, and chia pudding. The staff are friendly and welcoming. They are easy to talk to and seem genuinely interested in hearing about the needs, and more importantly desires, of their clientele. Atmosphere: contemporary and organic touches are warm and inviting. The wood-slat counter is painted with warm tones and the espresso machine looks more like a work of art. The owner personally distressed and painted the wood. There are a couple dozen chairs and couches. The drinks: try the hot chocolate! Chunks of dark chocolate are melted and carefully blended with steamed vegan (almond, oat, hazelnut) or organic dairy milk. The result is a comforting, flavorful, yet not too rich chocolate drink. The decaf coffee is freshly ground, as are all beans, and brewed in the espresso machine, making a rich and creamy cup of coffee. If you're in a rush, there is also brewed, drip coffee. read more

Updated review: This was my third time here and the coffee was the best this time- I ordered the large iced vanilla coffee with room for milk. As I sat down, the barista saw that my cup wasn't filled to the brim after I added just a little milk and he offered to top off my cup. I thought this was pretty awesome, as I don't think a chain would ever offer that! My coffee cost $5.32, which is a little more than Starbucks and other chains, but you're paying for ambiance, independent coffee shop and GOOD coffee. Music was jazzy, a little different than the music playing the last few times I was in, but I loved it! I was able to sit at one of the tables and get some work done while enjoying my iced coffee. I've been satisfied every time I've come back and I think they're really starting to work out the kinks as a new coffee shop. I will be returning (again). read more

UPDATE: so I came back after a little while and they have really improved the place since my last visit (not that they were bad at all before). Super cozy seats. Chill music in the background. Credit cards accepted. Wifi. Two signs up from the window. As always their pastries are pretty yum. Staff is friendly. Only thing is unfortunately my regular latte (very standard drink) I got was pretty bland. Not sure if they used too little of grounds or what. When one takes their first sip of a fresh new latte in hand, one wants that feeling of Ahhh, now that's what I needed. Unfortunately I didn't really get that feeling and ultimately didn't finish my latte. Maybe it was an off experience. I am going to have to try it again and hope for the best! ------------------------ A much welcomed addition to the Babylon Village. The atmosphere is very bright and clean. Their menu is limited but I am looking forward to try the latte soda next time. Their lattes were just ok. I've definitely had better in NYC. But I have faith that they will work out their kinks as they get settled in. They also offer loose teas and iced teas. *love* They really only opened a month ago. At this time they are only accepting cash. They also don't have a big sign outside either so you may miss it if driving by. A few other comments - they didn't have any ambiance music on at all so it sounded like an open room where everyone can hear every conversation. It seems like a nice casual atmosphere but my husband and I were not impressed with the items we ordered. I had the chai tea latte and he had a coffee. I ordered a bakery item and he had a croissant. The chai tea took forever to make which I know takes a while to make but I was rudely reminded that it would take a while from the barista snob. Once finished, it was flavorless. They messed up my order, I waited 25 minutes for an Avocado Toast. I payed for it and my order was never put in, after 20 minutes I had to wait another 10 minutes for it to be ready. One of the best coffee houses I have been to on the island, thus far. The only reason I didn't go for the fourth star, is because the pre-made sandwich I had wasn't all that great. For a while, many local coffee shops had an insanely large menu that were not sustainable but that isn't the case here; what's better than a place that roasts local beans from Southdown and La Colombe?! #supportthelocals Came here with my brother and friends to get some work done, we ordered both a hot and iced Maple latte and their version of a hot chocolate, all were really good. The baristas were young kids that were really helpful with recommendations and customer service. Bathroom was clean, chairs were comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was fast. I see some folks on here complaining about the price, if you enjoy your $4 diabetic drinks from Starbucks, just stay there cause good quality coffee doesn't come cheap. My only recommendations would be to remove that weird glass fridge on the bottom side away from the counter, you will open up the space and it looks very 90's. Also the black leather sofas seem out of place but thats just my inner coffee shop snob coming out. And the signs on the front that show that you have sandwiches and what not, keep people curious and keep the 90's window signs away. read more

Although I've only been here twice. It's becoming one of my favorite coffee spots in the Babylon area. Typically we grab coffee from here before getting on the LIRR into the city. I've only gotten the cold brew from here but if you're looking for something smooth, easy to drink, and a good wake up then it's an easy choice. Wow, such a little gem in Babylon village. We were overwhelmed by all the amazing choices. All fresh baked pastries, cookies, Quiches. All sorts of vegan and GF items. They have a nice coffee menu with plenty of choices. I ordered a mocha latte, It was amazing, they even used real chocolate. We also ordered a chai latte which was perfect. We ordered the avocado toast and the spinach feta quiche. Both item were brought out to us, freshly prepared. They tasted as good as they looked. We also took a few goodies to go. Chocolate chip cookie, avocado brownie and the pecan bread pudding. This is my new go to spot when I am in town! read more
