Staff is so amazing. This location is the smallest of the Southdowns but my absolute favorite, simply because of the Staff! I have been going here for years (since 2023) and I see familiar faces which lets me know they have long term staff that feels like friendship when you go in. All the girls there are incredible! Southdown is the best coffee on LI and personally ever. Consistent, creative & kind. Make sure to check out all locations but definitely the staff of Northport ! There is no seating at this location but take a walk to the park 2 min down the Main Street with coffee in hand ! read more

Great spot. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I ordered a strawberry matcha and avocado toast with eggs. My husband had an egg sandwich and coffee. They make the strawberry for the matcha homemade they said, it was very very good. The avocado toast was well worth the money. Plenty of avocado, fresh bread and seasoned well. The eggs were cooked great for on top. Ordering food took a few extra minutes obviously but it was worth it. I saw you can order ahead of time after the fact which is great. Drinks move quickly here. TOO quickly. Both of our orders were wrong. My wife asked for her latte HOT it came cold. I asked for a small, it was LARGE. They would have fixed the order...but getting them both wrong...and we decided it was fine anyway, since they did get the correct almond milk in it. I watched them get three more ordered wrong (which they promptly and politely fixed) BUT...I also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. I had to wait almost twenty minutes for this. There was only one cook in the back and she was working very hard, so I don't blame her...she needed an extra hand...but twenty minutes? Luckily it was a really good grilled cheese sandwich even if I was really pretty annoyed because of the wait. But the coffee...super average. Like something you might get at a grocery store. I'm not likely to bother to go back. I will say that they had a steady stream of customers who were more satisfied than we were, so....there's that. read more

The strawberry matcha from Southdown is so good. It's part of their seasonal menu and I'm obsessed! I love that they use ceremonial grade matcha - you can really taste the quality in every sip. Pretty cute coffee shop near the seaside! Inside is a bit small with no seating, but that didn't deter the line forming on the inside. Their menu consist of classic coffee shop fare, seasonal specials and baked goods. I ended up ordering the seasonal strawberry matcha latte iced and it was good! Sweet strawberry puree mellowed out by not to sweet matcha. A wonderful drink to sip on while perusing the Northport scene. If I'm ever in the Northport area again, I would love to try their other offerings. Seems like they're a much loved shop in the vicinity! read more

I needed to go into Northport Village and decided to stop in. I have been in there a few times. Tiny place. No seating. It's just order and go. You can buy bags of ground coffee too. This is what I tried so far: Hot Matcha Latte - good! hot! yummy!! I got it with almond milk. Immune Elixir - good! hot! so yummy! My new favorite drink! I bought one, took two sips and brought it home. I wanted to finish it at home, but I accidently spilled it all over my pants, shirt, cushion...laundry time! Ugh! I came back to the coffee shop a few days later and told the lady what happened. She was so generous, gave me a brand new drink, no charge. Double chocolate cookie with sea salt - so good! soft! yummy! A cornmeal cake with powdered sugar - good! light. Banana cake loaf - good. Zucchini cake loaf - ok. Matcha marble loaf cake - ok. A bit greasy. Blueberry muffin - good! They said that some items are made in house and some items are delivered fresh daily from a baker from Patchogue. Wasn't even that busy but had to wait about 15-20 min for a Latte. There were 5 others waiting for coffee and they made all the wrong orders so the coffee they did make just sat on their bench. Everyone had to keep coming back up to remind them what their order was. Also, my latte was luke warm at best. Not extra hot like ordered. Won't be coming back. Was staying the weekend close by and was on the hunt for some good coffee! This was one of two options I found on Yelp and decided to try Southdown first. And I wound up never trying the other place because Southdown was so good I came back the next day. The employees are super friendly and the storefront is quaint. Yes there is no seating but take a short walk to the waterfront and enjoy your coffee there or walk through downtown. They have wonderful homemade syrups. First day I had a vanilla latte which was excellent. The next day I had the maple latte which was amazing! We also tried their muffins and breakfast sandwiches the next day as well and they were equally yummy. Highly recommend Southdown if you're in the area! read more

Was in Northport over the weekend and came across Southdown Coffee. It was a bit chilly and I wanted something to warm me up! I hopped in and decided on my usual - Chai tea latte with oat milk. Their chai had a nice amount of spiciness to it which I like - some ginger and cardamom definitely present. I wish it was a bit creamier though as a latte should be but this is where it fell flat for me. They seem to have a nice array of dessert/snacking options like banana bread. I didn't indulge in something sweet this visit but perhaps in the future. The interior space is a bit bare-bones. Northport is so picturesque and home to galleries/lots of local artists so it would be nice to see just a splash of color on the walls to make it feel a little more warm and inviting. If in town, I'd give it another go and try a pasty to reevaluate my current review. read more

I went to southdown with my dad after we picked up crystals from my crystal girl. I wanted to try it. I had the vietnamese coffee with vegan whipped cream it was awesome and had a lovely kick to it. My heart is fluttering. And that may be the cold brew, but more likely it's because Northport Village FINALLY got a great coffee shop! I originally came from the south shore and was spoiled by some great coffee shops (I'm looking at you Jack Jack's), but when I moved up here I was shocked that Northport Village didn't have a great coffee shop to sit down a enjoy a cup and a book. Once I heard news that Southdown was coming, I was smitten. I stopped by yesterday with my pup and grabbed a cold brew and wow. The coffee was stellar. I can definitely tell that once they're able to throw in some seating (I would assume there's none currently due to Covid) that this will be a place I'm at all the time. For now, I'll be stopping in constantly and enjoying my coffee down by the water. read more

Oh woe is me. I love Southdown coffee and have been a fan since they opened in HV. I've been to all their locations and have had the pleasure to sit and enjoy their great coffee. I was a little let down that the Northport location is basically grab & go because their product deserves to be savored. I'm concerned because there are other places in Northport that though the coffee is basically in a thermos you can at least sit down. The talent and artistry of the baristas is hidden in a paper cup under a plastic lid. Luckily the restaurant across the street was closed but their tables were still outside. It's taken a very long time, and many, many second chances for me to write this review. Of the last few years since opening, I can personally only recall ONE single visit to this coffee shop that resulted in a positive outcome. I've ordered both online and in person, probably a total of 20 visits or so. The coffee is ((mostly)) good, but the service is, and always has been god awful. The people who work in this shop are just so incredibly lazy and slow. No one has any sort of fire lit under them, no one cracks even the slightest smile, and I'm telling you- the speed is just plain tiresome. I hate going to a Starbucks or Dunkin', I LOVE supporting small businesses, which is probably why I still show up to this shop. But time and time again I leave here frustrated, wondering how they operate this way after all this time. Always great, quick service, such friendly, professional staff and great vibe. Best coffee on Long Island. Love coming here so much, try the chickpea salad sandwich, avocado on toast, and iced oat lattes. When there's a line, it moves really quickly as the staff do such a fast paced job. This spot is a such great addition to the hidden gem village of Northport. When I moved here from Brooklyn, the only thing missing was a legit coffee shop, then Southdown arrived. I had to come back to let you all know that Southdown Northport now has food! They have options to order online and pick up or order in the store. I had their Grilled Cheese- pesto, cheese, good bread- do I need to say more? I also have to say that this spot has easily become my favorite spot in the Village. Any time I walk in here I walk out with a huge smile; the baristas are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. If you haven't tried Southdown yet well, I'm not sure what you're waiting for - go treat yourself to a cup of great coffee and try one of their food items as well. read more

The latest outpost from Huntington's Southdown Coffee. Coffee itself is the focus here, and no one is doing coffee like this. If you've never been, I recommend taking the coffee black - it's designed for that, and you'll taste notes that no one else has. Southdown roasts their own beans, heck they even travel to the farms and fincas to see the cherries on the trees. Worth every penny. Also offers locally baked goods, and beans to go, which they'll grind for you if you wish (I know, I know, grind right before brewing, leave me alone). I would even recommend their snapchilled cans (available on-site), that stuff is delish. There's a reason why Southdown has opened four locations on the north shore in six years (okay, four once Glen Cove's administration can get itself together). Long time fan of Southdown from the Oyster Bay days, I always had a feeling Northport would be the ideal location. Came here on Small Business Saturday and I was glad to see locals flooding the shop. I've always been a fan of their lattes and they use Oatly for their Oat Milk which is the best in the alternative milk industry. I liked that they were asking customers to please socially distance as it is a small interior. This is a high quality coffee shop, don't come here with a Starbucks mindset and expect those fabricated drinks. read more

I got a large and most of the drink was oatmilk... the staff was friendly but not well versed on how to make a proper iced latte. First and last time trying this coffee spot. For the latest location of Southdown, they really went pretty low budget with the interior design. Nowhere to sit except a small little bench right by the door and a gray industrial flooring. Not very welcoming, however, as per usual, the coffee is excellent and the selection is always rotating which is nice. Highly recommend the maple latte or any of the pour overs they have. read more

I am so happy I found this place! We are new to Northport and it took me a while to figure out this place was here! I actually haven't had the chance to try to the coffee yet (I am going to try it today) because when i found it I already had a cup in my hand from a local bakery that i am not too fond of. But I did have a English muffin sandwich and zucchini bread and it was so delicious! Their menu looks great, all artisanal selections. Great vibe in this small town shop. Love this place! The baristas are so friendly and accommodating. This coffee shop is in the heart of Northport Village not too far north of 25A. Anyone traveling to either Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks will find Southdown a good alternative. Not too hectic like the other two places and not really out of your way.
