I was a first time home buyer and had no idea where to start. I used Jack based on the reviews I read on Yelp and he lived up to his amazing reputation. I was really nervous about the process and suspicious of lenders in general, but Jack took the time to earn my trust and explain everything in layman's terms. He was available to answer my many questions up until the very last minute before the closing and even after. One of the things that I really loved about Jack was his honesty. He was crunching my numbers in our first meeting and asked what my budget was. He then informed me that I was actually approved for quite a bit more than I thought. I was shocked as there was no way I could afford much more based on all of my other monthly expenses. To my surprise, he agreed! Instead of trying to up sell me a loan I couldn't afford, he said he probably wouldn't have written a loan for that amount because it would have been unreasonable and unmanageable. Too bad more lenders in the past didn't think of their customers first instead of their commissions. He is super-responsive, very patient, and will bend over backward to explain every crazy mortgage detail or help move things forward for you. We worked with Jack on a mortgage for our new home, and he gave us multiple options for financing. While he recommended a few, he didn't push us in any particular direction. No hard sell from Jack. I found Jack through yelp when I move back to Austin this January and couldn't be happier with the service he provided. This was not my first purchase so I have a frame of comparison when I say he is a serious professional. The first thing he asked me was what I was looking for in a lender. I told him I wanted the best rate possible, timely responses, and most importantly, no surprises come time to close on a contract. Two years and one week ago I bought my first property which was a 3 family townhome in Brooklyn which I now make a modest income from. I was able to qualify for the duplex which I just closed on today. The process of qualifying based only on rental income (or anyone who is freelance or self employed) requires substantially more work on the part of the borrower and lender. Jack was extremely knowledgeable about the complexities of the process which I know for a fact, other lenders were ignorant to. Anything he didn't know the answer to he would just say "let me check on that" and I would receive a call back generally within the hour. He always confirmed 100% anything he told me so that we would not encounter any surprises when it came time to close. (I have experienced this more than once) He got me 4.25% apr. I did some shopping around and I believe this was a good rate. I am not exactly a "Dream Home" shopper, I purchased my home in New York and here as my residence, but also as an investment. He helped me with this without having what one would consider investor capital. I was teaching high school special education until last year. In short, my loan was much more complex than average, I was purchasing right on the limits limits of my debt to income ratio, and he was able to provide me financing scenarios for several houses I put bids on. I'm pretty sure the guy is a workaholic, and with the cut-throat Austin market right now, you need that to if you want to close on a property. The guy doesn't waste a second. He also just seems like an honest nice guy, which wasn't my #1 criteria in a lender, but it certainly make him a pleasure to do business with. read more
