Feb. 24, 2026, I planned to support a new 89-year-old client--who has moderate dementia and is very hard of hearing--during his visit to Dr. Saverio Roberto. Because of my client's cognitive and hearing challenges, having an advocate present to accurately track his care plan was critical. As a courtesy, since I had never met this physician, I provided information about my role and credentials, in writing, along with a legally signed authorization from his Power of Attorney to attend this appointment. Dr. Roberto flatly refused to allow me to accompany my client into the appt. I asked to speak to him, but Dr. Roberto refused to come out, choosing instead to repeatedly send his receptionist to relay his objections. To resolve the refusal on the spot, I got the client's Power of Attorney (his daughter) on the phone so the doctor could hear directly from her that I had explicit permission to be in the room. He still refused, absurdly claiming that because she wasn't in California, he couldn't accept the signed authorization or verify her identity over the phone. In my 35 years in the eldercare industry, I have never experienced such a blatant disregard for a vulnerable patient's safety and support system. His behavior was completely ludicrous, obstructionist, and counterproductive to patient care! We have happily changed doctors, and my client is now receiving excellent care. AVOID this doctor if you want your elderly loved ones to have their legal rights and advocates respected.

He kept telling her she "must have pulled a muscle". After months of being in pain with it only getting worse to the point of being excruiating, he finally ordered tests to be done. Turns out she had Stage 4 Lung Cancer that had spread throughout the body. She passed away less than 2 months of being diagnosed. On another visit I waited for an hour while he yelled at the elderly patient in the next room, bringing the man to tears. And, for two painful months, he regularly prescribed me bottles of different pain killers but refused to refer me for an MRI. It turned out that I had two fractured discs. There's much more, and far worse, but I can't even write it here. Seriously. Run. Fast. Thrive. Elsewhere.
