Dr. Williams is awesome. Other reviews say it very well. He is a classic but excellent and knowledgeable dentist. His friendly and easygoing manner should put those who are dentist-averse at ease. He feels like he's your best friend's uncle who happens to do dentistry :) He is also great about providing specific practical advice. For example, on my last visit, he pointed out an area I needed to pay more attention to when I brush. He pointed out that I had a lot of tartar there as opposed to other areas. He is not part of the new upsell-heavy boutique dentistry trend. There are no ipods and no fancy swiveling computer screens with your menu of options. But I suspect he's probably paid off his loans on most of his equipment, so you're not paying for ipods and fancy computer screens either. I think his prices are very reasonable. He's busy, but you can usually get an appointment within a week, and often faster for an emergency or painful situation. My fiance and I are both happy, multi-year patients. Recommended! read more

Finding a good dentist is a little challenging - I had a great one in Los Angeles; but I am no longer in that area so I need a close spot in Long Beach. I waited 3 months to post this and only after going there twice and then going to another dentist just today. First there are only 4 reviews for this dentist to date and they have a 4 star rating (which I why I went there). Everyone mostly noted how nice Dr. Williams is (I agree) and they also noted that the office is homey, comfortable and no upselling ( I also agree). Suffice it to say, that's a good start but where they go from there is what really counts. So here's my spin and what has led me to defect to another dentist after my last visit 2-3 months ago: Office - Very old fashioned, homey, low-key "mom & pop" type establishment Staff - Nice Equipment - nothing high tech or modern here (and that would be no problemo if things were still getting taking care of appropriately) 1st Visit - I went in for 6 month check up (x-rays and cleaning) Cleaning was done by the dentist in a manner which I have not had done in years (with just the cleaning compound and a sonic type bristley thing) - no deep cleaning done here. My teeth did not feel as clean as they usually do after a typical 6-month visit cleaning. Dissapointed but hopeful yet still! Yelp Referral - when he asked me how i found him; I mentioned Yelp and he did not seem too impressed (as a matter of fact he said that with sites like these all it takes is 1 person to dislike your services and you are then blacklisted) not his exact words but the general feeling conveyed. I guess I shoulda known then....... 2nd Visit - approx 2 months ago- I keep having some remote pain in the back upper part of my month. Nothing extreme but a little discomfort on a regular basis....my gums in the area were sore too... X-rays, some looking, some prodding and it was nothing to be seen. There was some talk about allergies being the problem and that was that. I was pretty much on board with that theory but just could not shake the fact that something felt off and so I contacted my insurer and switched to another dentist in Long Beach. Forward 2 months and I am still having the issue and have been thinking all along that it is an allergy issue as your sinus cavity is pretty close to your teeth in some areas or so I was told. So I went to the new dentist today and was told that I need a root canal in that upper right area. I can not help but wonder if this had been taken care of 2 months ago - would I be in this situation? I have never had a root canal so I am a bit dismayed by all of this. This could be isolated and I could be over-sensitive but at the end of the day it's an honest account and honest feedback based upon what I experienced and that's why YELP is more important than not. People are too smart not to understand the law of averages; bias; and isolated incidents. It takes too much time to formulate thoughts, write them down, be as credible, real and respectful as possible for anyone to want to blatantly discredit any business. This office is perfect for people who are tired of the new trend in dentistry to make a visit feel more like you are in a used car salesman's showroom. They only book one patient per hour so you get the full attention of the dentist. No commissioned hygienists who make commission on up-selling you to more expensive treatments. Just a nice guy dentist trying to make a living as an independent practice and a professional hygienist just doing her job You may dread the dentist for the pain, but you don't have to dread being pressured to get a bunch of treatments you dental insurance doesn't cover. Had a crown done, and later a missing filling replaced. Both were pain free and quick. read more

For whatever it's worth, I'm a doctor and I really enjoyed my visit with Dr.Williams. My last dentist's office felt like a car dealership...telling me I needed a deep cleaning and having me sit thru a financing talk about how much would be out-of-pocket. I never went thru with the deep cleaning and after my visit w/ Dr.Williams, I was reassured that my teeth and gums were in good shape. I'm no dentist but my perception is 1 of 2 things: 1) the other office was trying to make more money off of me or, 2) the fear of a deep clean motivated me enough to be more diligent about manually flossing, waterpik-ing, and mouth washing thus leading to my improved dental health. To date, I've been cavity free my whole life. Dr.Williams doesn't have a hygienist. I actually prefer this because he(an actual dentist) does all of the cleaning and spends more than 30 seconds with you. The office itself is clean, nostalgic, and charming. I only met one of his staff (his daughter) and she was also very friendly. Good vibes all around. I will continue seeing Dr.Williams for as long as I live in the area. I trust him and I think you can too. read more

Just like other reviewers say this place is not all ikea'd out. It's got an old school feeling to the office. But that's okay. All that matters to me is that I get good service and treatment. Dr. Williams and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. They tell you what needs to be done and don't try to upsell you on anything. Been there a couple times so far and have nothing to complain about. Nice thing is they schedule one patient at a time that way you get the full attention from Dr. Williams when you visit. The office looks like it hasn't been painted in quite awhile, furniture could be replaced, television too loud. Receptionist nice enough. Dr. Williams looks a bit rumpled, but nice. the exam room had a chipped cabinet, dusty glass balls hanging from macrame, the control consul for the equipment was dirty ( I ran my finger across it and it came back black), and the upholstered chair in the procedure room was dirty. The equipment is old. All in all not impressed and won't be going back. I'm using an alias, just being fair, while I search for a decent dentist in the area. read more

After spending the last 4 years at a mega-dentist, I was ready for a change. I was tired of them repeatedly trying to upsell me while their hands were in my mouth, and I was at my most defenseless. I chose Dr. Williams because my insurance was accepted and he had good reviews on Yelp (most dentists have horrible reviews!). And I was not disappointed. The office is exactly what a one man dentist's office should be. Nautical theme throughout the office that you could tell was accumulated throughout the years, not just purchased at IKEA. My 4 year old was so enchanted she forgot to get scared. Dr. Williams had one girl up front who also assisted him, and a couple rooms in the back. No waiting, they took us right back. He cleaned our teeth himself, chatting pleasantly the entire time. He was wonderful with my 4 year old, putting her at ease with a firm but gentle approach. I would highly recommend Dr. Williams for anyone looking for a family dentist. He's great. read more

For a dentist office this place is pretty good. When you walk in there is a nautical theme, but a nice empty office. There is not much of a wait and you are seen by a dental hygienist and then the dentist who is laid back and puts you at ease. I got good advice and there is no upselling at this dentist. There is nothing worse than a dentist that tries to sell you products. I recommend this dentist for a quick checkup and a nice staff. read more

So...I have been looking for a NORMAL dentist for a few years now (our family dentist retired). We have gone to several other local dentist and have been so disappointed with the "Car Salesmen" attitude. Thank the Lord that we came across Dr. Williams. My 14 year old went in first..X-Ray & cleaning. He came out with 2 thumbs up! Next was my turn..he was right, a normal guy who is honest and just..nice. The office is an office..the way I like it. Nothing fancy..when you have a dentist with a fancy office..you know your bill will be much higher..someone has to pay for the "FANCY". I don't want to pay for any-ones "FANCY", i'm not fancy..why would I pay for someone else's "FANCY". Very clean and professional! Looks like we have a new family dentist. I am weird and love going to the dentist. This dentist office feels like the office of my youth, same 70's-80's artwork and equipment and easy listening music playing, yet that doesn't worry me. Also just like my dentist growing up he does the cleaning and inspecting and the hygenist is just there to help out. I feel like most new dentist offices are always trying to get money out of you and talk you into some new treatment. This deep cleaning everyone has been talking about sounds like something to make money to me. Anyways I have always had a good experience here and even when I didn't have insurance they helped me work out the payment. read more

Great experience. Went in for a routine checkup as a new patient. No waiting, no sales gimicks, and a friendly staff. Jack did a thorough job cleaning my teeth. Dr. Jack is awesome he is the only dentist that I trust because he tells you like it is. He is also very gentle which is a huge bonus for me because I am deathly afraid of the dentist. No his office doesn't have all of the high-tech frills but he isn't charging you for that either. It's a small office that Dr. Jack runs himself. Like most people I was a little apprehensive about going to the dentist, until I found Dr. Williams. He is very professional and friendly.
