I went to Mavis in Stroudsburg to have my Hyundai checked out for excessive oil burning and engine issues. I was advised that my rear shocks were worn out as well as my rear tires. I had just been there in May for an inspection. I am concerned that no one mentioned this issue to me then. The wear and tear occurs over time, not all of a sudden. In addition, the check engine that has been coming on is due to a solenoid which I am told does not affected engine performance. No one can tell me why my car is burning more oil or sounds rough. I have been back to Mavis repeatedly. I went last Thursday to have work done on my car, and I was told that one of the mechanics left for another position, and the work that was scheduled for my car could not be completed. No one called or notified me. I went there for nothing. I was told I would have to wait another week to schedule my appointment. No one was rude, but the problem has not been resolved, and my car is still running poorly after repeated trips to the garage. No resolution of the issue. Too many trips to the garage. read more

Such a great experience. I made an appointment for a state inspection and an oil change. However, I've had no issues with my Hyundai Elantra for seven years and I knew that time was about to come to an end. So when Chris H. told I had failed inspection and needed new brakes, I wasn't surprised. Due to the sudden change of events, what I thought would take an hour blossomed into four. I had to use my phone for work because Chris H. and I could not determine why my computer could not get on the network. The establishment is clean, including the bathrooms, and the crew really works smart. They don't waste time and they almost have a Zen-like approach to what they must do. I have been in customer service for decades, and Chris H. must be one of the best people I've seen working with the public. He's kind, professional, maintains eye contact, is an active listener. If Chris H. cannot answer a customer's question or needs clarification, he asks a teammate. Even on the phone he maintains an even tone and treats the person as if they are standing right in front of him. I have now doubt his calm demeanor alone puts customers at ease if they must pay more for service or must have unexpected work to complete. Chris H. is an exceptional ambassador to not only this location but to Mavis in general. My thanks to Chris H. and his teammates for taking care of my car. I called the East Stroudsburg location to set up an appointment for inspection. I was referred to the Stroudsburg location since they do emissions. I got a call later changing my appointment from Monday Tuesday, but "wait I made a mistake." "Monday is OK." I had to cancel my Monday inspection because the car wouldn't pass based on a recommendation from another mechanic.. When I read the reviews about how Mavis and other companies that get you for every little thing to pass inspection I thought better of it. I went to the gentleman at the counter and asked for one new tire (since all my tires were nearly new) and a oil change. We brought our car in on 05/01/2025 to have the front end looked at due to a vibration while driving, they took it for 2 road tests and couldn't recreate the vibration. They put it up on the lift and told us the breaks were worn, possible seized caliper and a slightly worn ball joint. The technician then said he was going to take it for another test drive but take it out on the highway which required the manager to ride along. Upon returning from the third test drive my wife was told they felt the vibration but now the engine light is on and flashing and the oil light was also flashing, they checked the dip stick and saw it was low on oil so as a curtesy they added 5 quarts of oil to the car. Ok so on to the next garage right? Wrong my wife left the shop and now the motor is knocking and the car can barely reach 40 mph. At some point during the third and final road test the motor in the car was blown and they managed to run the gas out of it, had 100 miles to empty upon arrival and left with Les then 40. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Went in for a front end check , left with an un drivable car. read more

I had a flat tire, my other tires had to be replaced, front anlignm and my sensors had to be fixed. I was scared that I would've been taken advantage of me because I have no expertise in cars, but I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage. The mechanic told my mom that when he saw my wheel that they could probably bend it back into shape so I didn't have to pay more money. It turned out that it did need to be replaced, but the mechanic was searching and searching for a used wheel, just so I wouldn't have to pay for an overpriced new tire. After, I found out about my car needing new tires and the others necessities he suggested if I should talk to my mom to see if everything was necessary, which gave me another reason to feel like I wasn't being taken advantage of. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! I had a 9am appt to get my car inspected on 10/26/2024 at the Stroudsburg store on 611. After getting a laundry list of items needed so my car would pass inspection, I agreed and asked how long it would take. I was told they would not know but the parts could be there in 20 minutes. I thought I would be nice and said I would leave the car because originally I was staying. Turns out the guy did not do anything on the car all day Saturday. I then called on Sunday morning to see if the car was ready to be informed the car was still apart and would not be ready until Monday because the "Inspection Guy" was off. When I said, I need the car for work, they put someone on it to do the work and called me a couple of hours later to let me know the car was ready. I went to get it and was asked when I could come back for the sticker. I ask whats the latest they are open and was told that they are open until 8:30PM on Thurs. I said that I could be there on Thurs at 7PM for the sticker. The girl noted that on my bill, I paid and left. Well, Thurs 10/31 came and I ran from work to get to Mavis to get my sticker. I walk in there and waited. After several minutes the guy, I guess the mgr, came out and asked how he could help me. I began to explain the situation and he recalled my car, then proceeded to tell me the inspection Guy leaves at 3pm and I would have to come back in the morning. WHAT????????????? It was noted and was in YOUR computer. This guy did nothing and when I asked who would cover any ticket I may get for a soon to be expired inspection, since it expires 10/31, he said to me in a smug tone that he would not cover any tickets. It's their fault that I do not have my new sticker and they would not do anything to help. I usually go to the Mavis in Bartonsville and thought I would give these guys a chance since they were recently converted from Jack Williams tire. Andrew informed me of the various options available to me so that I could make an informed decision as to my course of action. #jackwilliams on 9th street stroudsburg is a fraud!!! They told me they were putting Goodyear tires on my car and when my husband got home and looked at the tires they had put mavis tires on my car!' For those of you who don't know Mavis tires bought out all Jack Williams stores. So I called and asked the man why are there Mavis tires on my car and he says oh I thought that the tread were better on the Mavis tires!! I said you ask me permission to put Mavis tires on my car and the fact that Mavis tires are cheaply made the tread life sucks I would never ever put that brand on my car!! I went to the store needless to say and had him tell me to my face why he deceived me and to speak with the supervisor he repeated the same thing he told me on the phone but the supervisor was not there so I left. If I could give this place no stars I would. A simple tire change that we were told would be 30-40 minutes is now going on over 3 hours! There are plenty of employees here and only a few vehicles- so understaff is not a reason. We even estimated ourselves for it to be about an hour, yet still not done. The front desk employees were also very rude and had an entitled, ignorant attitude towards almost every customer that came in here. And no one is even letting us know what is going on or why this is taking so long. We will never be coming here again and I'll be sure to let everyone I know and then some to go else where, this is ridiculous and unbelievable! 1st and last time I will be using this business. read more

Went in for an alignment for an older vehicle which requires shims. Prior to handing over keys i was assured by staff that they were more then qualified to perform the task at hand. I picked up vehicle who's suspension I rebuilt (shocks springs poly bushings sway bar/links tie rods idler arm balljoints drag link ) only to find a mildly straight steering wheel which literally felt straighter before all new components where installed. On top of that I opened hood to find a rouge shim on air filter not the end of the world i do things of this nature all the time but what pissed me off where shims were sloppily inserted in a manner which made me nervous to hit a rough bump and have one shoot off its placing. One star yes 80$ down the drain here at sears now fingers crossed. read more

I bought tires here. Go in twice a year for rotation. When I made purchase, I was told I wouldn't need appointment for rotation. When I come in Tom is rude and disrespectful/ tries to make me feel like an imbecile for not making an appointment and says how very long I'll have to wait for rotation . Those times I attempted to make an appointment for rotation, he says I don't need one. When these tires need to be replaced I will not be purchasing from Jack Williams in Stroudsburg. I took my 2017 Crosstrek to Jack Williams in Berwick, PA on July 11th for 4 tires and a state safety inspection. I had been to my Subaru dealership that morning for the inspection , but they told me my tires would not pass and recommended buying 4 tires and an alignment. But their price was well over $1000., so I declined. I called Jack Williams and spoke to the manager Lawrence Schnaufer at the Berwick location and he said they could fit me in that day. After they pulled my car in for the service they came and told me there was nothing wrong with my tires and that they would pass inspection. They even let me look at them myself because I couldn't believe the dealership tried to pull a fast one on me. After the car was done I went up to pay for the inspection and was told there was no charge and They were sorry for my bad experience with Subaru, and they wanted me as a customer. If you go here, you will Not pass inspection. From the moment I walked in, I knew the place wouldn't let me pass inspection. When I walked in, the mechanic started going off about how my car squealed a little bit when I pulled up, and he said that "no car should ever sound like that." Then he kept going off about how something is "definitely wrong," and then he just walked away, out to the shop. At that point, I should have walked out and gone elsewhere. So, to make a long story short, they didn't pass me. And from there I went directly to another shop down the street, which did pass me. Funny... Brought my truck in because I had 2 lines leaking oil and for an oil change and tire rotation. They never rotated the tires, was told be because the age of the truck they didn't want to mess with the oil leak. Its a 2008 Chevy? I doubt they even changed my oil. On March 21, 2017 I was driving to NY from my home in Pa, the car was shaking so badly, I turned around to go to Jack Williams on Rte 611, Stroudsburg, to get it looked at. John came out and told me it was the wheel bearings and took me into the repair shop to also show me some antifreeze on the top of a hose and said a drip fell on the mechanic that had been under the car. I told him to repair this also. As we walked back to the customer service area, I had my warranty card in my hand and asked John when he got it all worked out, to please call the warranty company to see if the wheel bearings were covered. He told me that this was normal wear and tear and it is never covered. I said the company seemed pretty good and I would like him to call just to be sure. John said this is his job, and he is the one who handles the warranties and wheel bearings are never covered ( I never mentioned to get the leak fixed, I knew that would not be covered). He said it was regular maintenance, like brakes and asked me if I would expect them to put on new brakes or tires? Now, I'm feeling like the stupid woman in a car shop and said of course not, but why would it hurt to ask? No, it's normal wear and tear. I got a rental car and left my car for the repair. Now this is where we have another major problem, John said he told me about getting tie rod ends while we were looking at the leak and he shook the wheel to show me how loose they were. This didn't happen. If he would have said that I would have KNOWN that the tie rod ends are covered by the warranty since a few months earlier the same store put a pair of them on the same car and the warranty covered them with no problems. So this is going to be a he said she said issue, but I also have a voice message from John and he never mentioned tie rod ends when he called me and gave me the costs( almost $1300.00). We never discussed the price beforehand, I even asked why wheel bearings were so expensive and he said something about them being pressed in and they were expensive. When I got the car and bill, I noticed that the wheel bearings really weren't that much, but the tie rod ends which I didn't expect to have done were what was running up the bill, plus the fact that we never discussed the price of the hose and that was VERY expensive. I again brought up that the warranty and that I KNOW the tie rods are covered, why didn't he call at least for that item? Plus I had checked that morning and the wheel bearings and labor were also covered which he probably would have found out if he had called for the tie rod ends. We decided I would pay for it and send the bill to the warranty company. They would not even discuss it with me, the warranty company said the repair shop broke the contract by not contacting them first and that they won't pay for it. Next step in small claims court. Very unhappy with them. read more

The staff was overly helpful in my time of need, with running me to auto parts stores to find the correct lock for my lug nuts, ordering tires quickly and not taking advantage when I was stranded from my tires that failed. The price I paid for my tires were exactly what I would have paid online. While I may not be in the area for awhile, I (almost) hope that I can do business with this store again. read more

We purchased tires from Jack Williams. Using their free rotate service, we would take our cars in every 5000 miles or so. On most occasions when we visited to rotate the tires, Jack Williams always pointed out problems with our cars that would cost several hundred dollars to fix. On my last visit, they brought me into the garage area to show me a chip in my brake shoe. They said my brakes were dangerously close to failure and certainly would not pass any inspection. The total price they wanted to charge me was $740. Getting fed up with the constant requests for more repair money, I asked them to put everything back on and went to a different mechanic that I trusted (Martocci Automative 5 stars). All I asked Martocci was to "check the brakes and the tires." I mentioned nothing about my experience at Jack Williams. They then showed me the same brake shoe and asked if anyone else had accessed the brakes recently. They pointed out that the brake shoe was very easy to get to and usually they require some effort and that it looked like it had been chipped when the last guy had tried to get to it. They said that other than that, the brakes were fine. I don't know enough about cars to accurately judge. What I can say is in my personal experience Jack Williams often claims that our cars need hundreds of dollars in repairs and Martocci Automotive is always attempting to save me money read more

Never been treated so horribly in ALL MY LIFE!!!! Be warned! If you are female you will be demeaned and treated as if you are a child. I have a tire that was really low on air and the air pump at the gas station wasn't working right. So I figured better safe then sorry let me ask one of these guys to fill it up really quick until I can make an apt to figure out what's going on. The older man barked "fine! Use door one" and refused to even tell me which door was "door one" there were six doors total and on two different sides of the building. So I pick one and wait..and wait...... and I see them looking and laughing at me. The gentleman in line before me was treated to a thank you and a smile from the service writer. Why was I scowled at? Do they not want women at their business? Oh, and I never got help from them. After being laughed at I decided I didn't need to be treated like that and left. Do not go here to get your vehicle inspected. You will not pass. We sat for 4.5 hours, to be to,d the car didn't pass. They said something was wrong with my tire. (Mind you, I just bought tires from them a few months ago, and they rotated my tires last week, and they were perfect) and also I need a new pipe underneath. the work my car supposedly needed was 746 total, which is mind blowing! There were people waiting for inspection with BRAND NEW VEHICLES, and they weren't passing either.. Needless to say, they are money hungry, and will find something to be wrong with your car to get you to dish out money. I took it somewhere else, and they passed me.
