We were in Chinatown and headed back south when we decided to grab coffee. We were close to Jackalope so here we go! It was mad packed too and it was hard to find a park but we got lucky as we saw some patrons leave. It's street parking but you gotta read the signs! We walked in and it's such a cool, eclectic coffee house! Loved the vibes! It's large too and it was a lot of students there either solo or group learning happening. As a former teacher, I loved that! The coffee we wanted was out, dirty horchata but we completely understood, it's mid day and Saturday so the yummy stuff goes! We got a mocha and I forgot what hubby got but both were delicious! We sat in and enjoyed our coffee which was nice. The service was fantastic, everyone was kind and engaging which was very nice. I was visiting the area and decided to stop by on a Sunday morning. This cafe is very quaint inside and has an awesome, grungy vibe. The baristas were friendly They have a great selection of coffee, smoothies, and food items. The merch selection is also really cool, including mugs, coffee beans, and T-shirts, to name a few. Jackalope is a cool space in Bridgeport to grab coffee and hang out if you need a study spot, or place to chill with lots of coffee and tea options, as well as food. And the best part.. the coffee is quite affordable compared to lots of other coffee shops--like $2-3 less! Though I don't think the coffee was amazing or anything. They have specialty drinks that rotate seasonally. Many different options to try. It's super spacious with 3 decorated rooms (lots of decor to look at) and board games to borrow. This place is great, very cool inside, the staff are super nice / funny. The environment is also great, it's huge inside and there are multiple rooms with different types of sitting. Definitely a place to go work. We got there around 10:30, there were places to sit and people were coming and going. The coffee was good, I got the Jolly Green Giant, it was great, good hummus, fresh vegetables. My child got a donut, he liked it. My partner got the breakfast sandwich, cyclops, it comes in a bagel but the bagel is less large than normal bagels which he said made it easier to eat and was a nice balance. I was staying nearby and saw that Jackalope was close by and had breakfast sandwiches. I'm not a coffee fan but I was expecting a lot of tea options as well. The place was pretty quiet since it was past the morning rush time and midweeki-sh, so it was expected. I was looking at their non-coffee options, eyeing the cooler but I did see they had flavored iced teas as well. Their sandwiches are named after mythical creatures. I got 'The Cyclops' their version of a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel. The sandwich was ok-the bagel tasted pretty plain instead of the Everything bagel I asked for it tasted like a plain bagel. While they had a lot of tea options the iced tea choices were pre-made so I went with their green tea and couple pumps of their fruit syrups. I took a seat under their Mars Attacks alien in their barber's chair and while it was a little precarious it was fun. read more

Really cool find. Happened to be in the area and wanted some coffee. The pricing is pretty good for current times. Milk alternatives are extra. Ambiance is great. There's three sections of space with plenty of tables for 1-4 people each. Even at 7PM, there were lots of individuals reading or working on their laptops. I tried their mocha with oat milk and their specialty hot cider with brown butter toffee. Their mocha was smooth and creamy, no settling after a night in the fridge, so likely made with chocolate syrup. The hot cider came our piping hot, almost had an alcoholic flavor to it. There's free street parking and free wifi! It was packed when I visited but they have three sections of seating so we were able to find one table in the back section near the bathroom. I ordered the dirty horchata and it was more dirty than horchata so I liked it. My kids enjoyed their pastries and the collection of games they have. I've been to this coffee shop on two different occasions and had two vastly different experiences. On the first visit around April 11th, I ordered a dirty horchata with an extra shot of espresso and a Centuar sandwich and the food was ready within 5-7 minutes. Now this was earlier in the day, perhaps 7:30. The coffee and sandwich were excellent. My second visit was on May 17 around noon and I ordered the same two items except I got the coffee iced. I received the coffee around 3 minutes after I ordered but it took nearly 30 minutes to receive the sandwich. There were a few people ahead of me but I noticed others who walked in and ordered after me received their drinks and food before mine. The cashier even had to tell the lady who was making sandwich's to make mine since I was waiting for so long. The cashier even made the sandwich herself since the other lady was complaining that she was tired. Eventually I received my sandwich and was offered a very dry apology for the wait. It seems like the main differences between the two visits were the staff and the time of day. Nonetheless, the coffee and sandwich were good but I wouldn't return again. read more

One of the better local coffee shops in the Bridgeport area. Locally owned but it's still basically the same price as Dunkin and cheaper than Starbucks. They have a large list of beverages and a list of food too. Service is consistent. Folks in here are always friendly. And they have a great aesthetic inside the shop with merch to buy if you're interested. read more

Service is always great and the staff move quick but efficiently to keep the line moving. They can adjust the temperature of hot chocolate for the kids which I like. Space is clean, they have enough seats and it's an overall chill place to have a catch-up with a friend or study. Reasonably priced and I LOVE the white glazed sprinkle donut. I can taste the cavities forming and I enjoy every bite. Haven't tried sandwiches yet. read more

Really awesome spot in the neighborhood. I love that it's got so much space, I'm so used to coffee shops being so cramped with limited tables. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are quirky and cool. They have a super expansive menu with lots of drinks to try, and if that wasn't enough they have food too. I was pretty full unfortunately but otherwise would've wanted a donut. It was my first time there and I was overwhelmed by all the possibilities. I got the "Where's my cake, Bedelia?" which I believe is on their specialty/seasonal menu. It's a Frappuccino with cake batter syrup, but it wasn't overly sweet. I also got a sprinkled donut. The donut has more of a cake consistency. (I'm not sure if they make it or if they buy it and sell, but it's delicious.) The ladies behind the counter were patient and nice. They apparently also have food items as well, so I hope to come back soon to sit down and eat there. It looks like a nice place to have a meal and relax. read more

This is petty but I went back in while walking around the block for a refill on my black coffee and to grab a donut but they don't apparently give refills so I had to buy a whole new coffee just to have a little bit more coffee with my newly purchased donut. Place seems easy going enough and I'm sure if I were a regular or one of the Barista's friends they would have just filled the cup a little more free of charge. They can at least offer a 75 cent refill option etc. God I just want to be loved. read more

Jackalope is such a mixed bag for me, and it's my closest neighborhood shop so I've been countless (100+?) times over the years. The GREAT -- their house drip coffee, when fresh enough, is actually the best in the neighborhood. Aromatic. Bright. (Bridgeport Coffee talks up its roasting but does not win here). -- Staff are friendly (usually) and fast and interesting. Positive counter-culture vibe. -- Art & style vibe is eclectic but consistent and awesome. Glaring colors, bunnies with horns--you know. (This also got even better when they re-did the windows and let more light into the shop). -- COVID sorta forced Jackalope to up their sidewalk patio game, but it's become sorta great. Off the main street, colorful tables, some small trees... wifi reaches everywhere. Very chill neighborhood vibe. Friendly dogs. People talking table to table sometimes. I often walk by and see people I know. The HMM -- food here is not overpriced, but it's just not very good. The breakfast sandwich (cyclops)... a dry-ish mini wheat bagel and a microwave style egg puck... just... needs re-invention. -- smoking on the sidewalk cafe. You'll often have folks lighting up here (5 cigarettes this morning as i sit here from two folks) and as non-smoker, I wish they'd step across the street or something. It's outside but if you're downwind from the smoke it's rough. I realize not everyone will agree on this. -- Music... sometimes it's a level of punk or metal that's just sorta grating. I'm positive some folks are fine with it, but it's not my vibe and can be loud enough that it's hard to cover up with your own headphones. But the music is also sometimes oldies or other random stuff pop or alt or indie--all of which are great. Guessing it's just whoever is working. And obvs this is my taste as well. You might love it. So... that's the honest T--a few of the hmm things do keep me from coming by sometimes. But the owners are local and Jackalope wins the strongest contributor to neighborhood vibe over every other coffee shop in Bridgeport... so it's a must stop. read more

Great little coffee spot. Has a hipster/counter culture vibe to it. I'm more of a tea person, and the barista said the green tea citrus with added mango flavoring was very popular. It was actually really light and refreshing. A lot less sugar than the Lipton version. During Covid, all indoor seating is closed and put away. One way entrance for ordering and one way exit, which was nice. There is ample amount of outdoor seating. But maybe hard to come by depending on how many people are there studying. read more

It's a large cafe (two dining areas and outdoor seating) that serves coffee all day and breakfast and lunch. For breakfast, order a latte and two chocolate chip croissants. It's fine I guess, but the food and drink was just okay. It wasn't anything special and it wasn't cheap enough to not be special. That doesn't mean that it wasn't affordable, just that it was all kind of blah and not worth making a special trip for.
