    chocolate crossiant.

Stopped by to grab an iced latte for my hubby, I found so much more. It was a bit crowded but service was quick and friendly. What a gem I found on my vacation! When they brought a fork and knife with it crossiant, i kinda thought..why? Then i realized why and was so happy! The chocolate is amazing! The staff are so nice. Would definitely come back.

This was a great pit stop for morning breakfast. When we first rolled up we thought the chaos would lead to a poor experience but how they handle ordering and seating made sense. Service was excellent and decor was amazing. Coffee beverages were excellent and so was the light breakfast. It was quick and enjoyable and we were on our way for more walking.

    Shakshouka pastry and pistachio croissant

I walked over from my hotel right at the time they opened, and it was raining. There was no line, only a handful of people waiting for their order. I got the pistachio croissant, shakshouka pastry, and berry crunch oatmeal. It took about 20-25 minutes, which made no sense because the pastries are in the case and the oatmeal......is oatmeal. I suspect they opened without having all of their prep done because the delay made no sense. Their staff looked frantic. The croissant wasn't filled, it just had pistachio cream on the top with a couple of nuts. I would order the shaksouka pastry again. The egg was cooked well, and the tomato was very good. They were supposed to heat it up, but it wasn't warm.

Such a good place in Chicago. The staff is very nice and have lots of extravagant pastries available every day. I went back to multiple times because it was so good. There wasn't a crazy amount of seating inside, but there is some outside but you will be hearing the train go by every two minutes. Food comes out pretty fast and seems like it's made with good ingredients. The coffee there is to die for. My favorite drink is the iced cacao date latte with the macadamia nut milk. Cute interior too!

SERVICE Photo-fun and easy to catch your eye while walking by. Server was fine. Located downtown so not a place I would go out of my way to get to. FOOD Ordered the lemon tart and boy was it waaaayyyyy too sweet for me. I too dislike coconut and believe it was part of the crust. At least that is what I thought I was tasting. That was on me I guess for not asking. I'm sure the other items are good, but it was not what I hoped for personally. WELL I guess I'd return, but not going out of my way.

Avocado Toast with 6min egg (asked them to hold the cotija cheese due to lactose intolerance) and Matcha Americano

Cute vibey breakfast place conveniently located in walking distance from my hotel. If you Iike diabeetus for breakfast/brunch there are tons of pastries and specialty drinks to get your blood sugar spiking in AM. Avocado toast was great, definitely felt bougie and filling. The "matcha Americano" is just an iced matcha without the sugar or milk which was refreshing and what I wanted.

A charming place for a snack and sunlight. Goddess and the Baker always gets the vibe right for me. I visited on a Sunday and it was definitely packed though. I didn't try the coffee but the matcha latte was fantastic. They even put a delicious little muffin on top! I'm always pleasantly surprised every time I see it because I always forget they do it. :) - AD

We arrived before the 8am Saturday opening, and it was already open with a line that moved fast. There was a large selection of delicious looking things in the case. I picked a chocolate croissant while my husband got a cinnamon roll, and of course, we tried each other's picks. The croissant was absolutely loaded with chocolate cream. It was delicious. The cinnamon roll had a cream cheese frosting. Both items were quite large, so it was good we didn't buy more items or it would have been too much food. My husband had a plain black coffee, too, and enjoyed it. We returned the next day to find a lighter crowd and a slightly different selection of baked goods. I had the almond croissant, which I enjoyed even more than the chocolate one. I do love frangipane! My husband had the apple cranberry galette, which was small but quite dense and very good.

Chili Crisp Egg Bowl Sunrise Burrito Goddess Sweet Cream Cold Brew Cinnamon Date Cacao Latte

This was my first stop after landing in Chicago (recommended to me by my friend since I've never been). I got the chili crisp egg bowl which I thought was just okay. My friend's breakfast burrito was decent as well but could have been better. Neither of us were amazed with our drinks, I got the goddess sweet cream cold brew. I do believe that maybe I got unlucky with my choices that day, and that this place could redeem itself if I come back and choose something else. Service was quick and friendly, and the wait was nonexistent when we went on Friday at 9am. My favorite part was sitting outside and watching the city wake up!

Goddess and the Baker is such a staple in Chicago and this visit was so no different. Their vegan donuts are amazing and the cinnamon roll is a must order. Truly, everything and anything on the menu is delicious! The coffee bar is full service, with the best selection of teas. The workers are so patient, kind and attentive! It's fun to even mosey through the market and see the offerings. There's truly something for everyone and every occasion at the Goddess and the Baker! While all locations are usually busy, I've never had a problem getting a seat, enjoying my meal, or even taking it to go!

This café popped up when I searched for popular coffee shops nearby, and as soon as I got there, I understood why. It was packed They have plenty of indoor seating along with a few outdoor tables, but my favorite part was the open-air design. The huge windows let in so much natural light and make it the perfect place to enjoy a Chicago summer while people watching. One of my friends who lives in Chicago told me this place has the best hot chocolate in the city. I was in the mood for a latte instead, so I ordered one along with the avocado toast. Both were really good, and even though there was a small line to order, the service was quick and the staff was friendly. I also noticed lots of people working and studying here, so it definitely has that neighborhood café vibe. The highlight for me, though, was the VIEW. The café overlooks the elevated train tracks, so you can watch the trains go by every few minutes (check out the videos below!). I could have easily sat there for hours just enjoying the view with my coffee. That alone makes this place worth a visit.

Came straight from the airport to refuel. Conveniently located right off the Blue and Red lines. This location was ~10 min walk from The Bean. I went on Fri around 12:30 pm and it was thankfully not super busy. After ordering at the register, they give you a table number. Just find a seat and a server will bring you your order. What I got: - Sunrise Burrito: 3.5/5 - I'm a bfast burrito gal, so I had to order this. It was super hot, fresh, and filling. The burrito was getting super soggy overtime bc of how steamy the fillings were. Unfortunately, the tomatillo sauce didn't really provide any additional flavor. I wish they cut the burrito in half so it's easier to eat. - Iced Latte w/ Oat Milk: 5/5 - I think I got a good one that day bc it was DELISH!! Not overly milky and I was able to taste the coffee roast, YUM! It even comes with a nice muffin treat! Loved that they don't charge extra for milk alt, like nyc. I imagine the place can get busy on the weekends and when there's nice weather. Outlets are located along the wall. They have a water station and restrooms. Staff were very friendly and gave me tips for the Chicago Metra. Great spot for a casual solo bite!

Found this cute coffee shop and decided to give it a try! They had a banana iced latte which is my fave and it was a 10/10. Service was good. It definitely gets crowded but the wait wasn't too long.

Goddess and the Baker, 33 S Wabash-Millennium Park Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Goddess and the Baker, 33 S Wabash-Millennium Park

Can we make reservations to eat in the restaurant?

No you cannot unfortunately, it's first come first serve

Can I order gluten free bread to go?

Absolutely! Contact them directly for pickup options or order through a delivery service.

    What brand of oat milk?

    Pacific Barista Blend

    Do they take reservations?

    Nope

Where would be a good place to park?

There is usually metered parking available right on Wabash. There is also a safe parking garage a half block away at 55 E Monroe. (If you reserve a parking space through an app like ParkWhiz you can get a deeply discounted rate.)

Do you carry Keto (low carb) options?

I don't think they have any items specifically marketed as keto-friendly, but they do have some omelettes and various forms of eggs available. I'm sure they'd be happy to modify the ingredients to work with your diet.

Is the Rainbow Cake Latte a Permanent item?

It has to be at least "semi permanent". I've seen it several times in the past outside of pride week. As a matter of fact I was there Thursday of pride week and they did NOT have it (guessing sold out as it was late in the day :(

    Any Vegetarian options?

We just had coffee and scones, so yes? I am vegetarian also, but just came for dessert. Which was yummy!!

I've been a customer of almost 10 years and have been obsessed since they first opened their doors at a different location. I literally live an hour away without traffic and even longer with traffic, but I make sure to stop by or send someone else to get it for me at least once a month or more. I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

Visiting Chicago and pretty much EVERYONEEEEE recommended this place and honestly I can see why!…read moreThere was a 2 hour wait on a Saturday morning and ooooof you're going be baking in the sun (no patio, no shade, no umbrellas) so come prepared with hats, umbrellas and water!! Usually when I wait that long for something I get extra harsh on critique like my god you better be worth the wait.... And unfortunately this place WAS actually that good where I couldn't even be mad. Filipino breakfast combo ($20)-- has both longanisa sausage and tocino, suuuuper savory and goes great with their garlic rice and sunny side up egg. It's one of those things that's just so simple but so soooo good when done right. Pork belly adobo ($20)-- weekends only! braised pork belly with garlic rice and sunny side up egg. This is similar to a Taiwanese Lu rou fan. It was slightly sweet with the savory. It gets kind of fatty/greasy after a while but once you add some chili and vinegar from the basket it's all good !!! Longanisa breakfast sandwich ($12)-- didn't add the hash brown but that was an option! Soft bread, fluffy egg, cheese and longanisa... again so simple but sooooo good! The Longanisa in this was like a meat patty vs the sausage in the breakfast plate. Same name but different enough I promise! Didn't feel like I got a duplicate or anything like the textures are different! For pastries... forgot the price-- Salmon danish: Weekend only! Wish we got more!! It was perfectly light and savory. Doesn't have that strong fishy smell and the flavor was so good. Smoked salmon, cream cheese, fish roe... how could it not be good!! Cheesecake: SOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Again, should've ordered more!! Not all cheesecakes are created equal but THIS ONEEEEE was so so good. The crust:filling ratio was perfect. It was rich and creamy. Doesn't mix in cake/filler like some other places. Just good, pure, classic cheesecake with some good fruit on top. Cardamom bun: Texture kind of like breakfast bun/kougn amann but tastes like a light pumpkin spice, thanksgiving. Goes great with coffee I'm sure!! This flavor profile in general isn't really my thing but my friend loved it !! Banana bread: Really not the most aesthetic thing. It's almost kinda ugly in pictures ... but what it lacks it makes up for in TASTEEE. I should've gotten a cross section but there's dark chocolate and nuts and the banana flavor is there and sweetens everything so nicely. Also, you order at the counter and they'll bring it to you at the table in order of drinks then pastries then food. Not sure how it works if you want to order more tbh like if you finish eating and want more dessert. Would I wait 2 hours again? Unfortunately probably yeah. Since I'm a visitor it's not like I can go during off hours/random weekdays etc. And everything was soooo good I'd definitely come again next time I'm back!!

The sandwich came out in less than 5 minutes! It was definitely a good, tasty sandwich, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Ultimately, while I enjoyed the food and the beautiful space inside, I probably wouldn't wait 45 minutes in the blazing sun to get it again.

I bought 3 and my friend got 2. Calamansi cream + pistachio paste danish was my favorite. The Calamansi cream was the perfect texture and density with a fragrant citrus note. When I took a sip of coffee afterwards it made my coffee taste like I was drinking fresh orange juice. The pistachio is more cake like inside than full paste and isn't too sweet. Flaky dough, soft pistachio center and creamy top with a sharp citrus cut. Peach + raspberry Melba danish. The peaches were soft. I'm not familiar with a Melba dessert but the center of this was almond paste which is not my favorite but if you like almond and tart danish it would hit the spot. Raspberry espresso cream cheese cinnamon roll was a fun fruity twist to a cinnamon roll. Couldn't really tell there was espresso though. Blueberry lime cheesecake danish. I also liked this one because of the lime. It really cuts through the heaviness. The fruits on top were also fresh. They also have one day old blind boxes. I grabbed a 6 piece day old box to go and it was actually 6 different pasteries, half sweet and half savory! It only repeated 1 of the pasteries I had originally tried so I'm excited to try more, especially the savory ones. It's an amazing deal if you just want to try a variety of flavors. Tried the Hot dog danish - really good! Upscale pigs in a blanket vibes. The tiny fried are seasoned perfectly and add a fun crunch. The splashes of Dijon cut through and it doesn't feel oily at all.

Let me tell you, it was all I hoped it could be and more. The storefront was pretty small with a few tables- between the size, hours, and popularity (they were only open a few days a week and closed at 2pm), I suspected that the shop sold out often. I went on a weekday and there was still a good selection of pastries left around 11am. The staff was super nice and helpful as I struggled to make a decision. They shared that the strawberry milk croissant was their bestseller, so I opted for that. It was filled with fresh strawberry mascarpone and fresh strawberry puree. Despite the croissant's decadent appearance, it was not at all too sweet. I'm not typically the biggest croissant fan (I know, I know, no one is perfect) but this pastry blew me away. The filling was super generous without overpowering the delicate dough, which was baked to crispy perfection. Sadly, I don't get to the area often, but I will 100% be back asap to try more of the menu. Run- don't walk to pay a visit!

They make scrumptious cookies, pastries, danishes, chai cinnamon rolls, the whole shebang. Our eyes were nonstop drooling over all of the fresh goodies. I had such a hard time choosing, but knew I had to get the corn flake espresso cookie (SO FRICKIN AMAZING) the textures were elite, and the potato focaccia. The southwest hash brioche was friggin incredible. They were very generous with the sweet potato, WHOLE EGG, and veg. Like seriously, with the cost of groceries skyrocketing, I can't believe I got a whole bit of egg white and yolk. You must eat your goodies warm, the initial crunch had me in a chokehold. They also had a vegan focaccia which my friends appreciated. There's street parking and expect lines. Inside isn't super spacious, but the line does move. Bring sunnies and a book if you don't like to stand around. We got here before they opened on a Saturday morning and only had to wait like 15mins. They also sell cute lil Sugar Moon merch like fun tshirts and cards. Would 100% come back to get morning pastries from them. Super queer friendly as well. MUST visit.

I will say the savory items are definitely on the salty side though. I wish they were 20% less salty! I had ordered the miso mushroom brioche, asparagus foccaccia, and poblano brioche. It's worth the trek and the line. You'll probably end up eating from the box on the curb nearby, since inside seating is TIGHT. I live in SF and we don't mess around when it comes to bakeries. I will be returning to Sugar Moon next time I'm in Chicago. Wait for me, my love.

People were crowding around it as the staff handed it to me--handled with care . The chicken was crispy, the sauce had that classic rich flavor, and the melted cheese tied everything together just right. What I really appreciated was how consistent the quality was from end to end--no soggy spots, and the bread held up beautifully (which is key when you're dealing with something this massive). You can tell they know what they're doing when it comes to Italian bread and hearty sandwiches. I think they have patio seating available when the weather allows, which is a nice option, but it does get crowded. Calling ahead to order is definitely a smart move. There was a line out the door, which we didn't mind, but things became disorganized when staff asked everyone to move inside. It caused people to lose their place in line, and the ordering process felt very chaotic and rushed. Because it was so crowded, I didn't really get a chance to look at the bakery items and only ended up ordering a cookie and a cannoli. After ordering, we were asked to wait outside for our name to be called. It took about 15-20 minutes for two sandwiches, and the pickup process was also a bit hectic. The chicken parm sandwich was good, but the eggplant parm was underwhelming and had more breading than eggplant. Overall, for about $17.50 per sandwich, the experience didn't quite match the price for me.
