This was my fiancé and I's first stop once we arrived in Chicago. It was recommended to us from a friend. I was skeptical at first because it is a local chain, rather than a singular location. However, it lived up to the hype. Service: it was extremely busy when we came in. The line was almost out the door. They have a system in place for ordering and seating so it worked well and fast given how busy they were. We didn't have any questions on where to order or where to stand when waiting for a seat. The staff were friendly and helped us find a spot to sit at. Ambiance: classic cafe in a city. Loud chatter, but it's a vibe. Very colorful and fun interior with cool textural elements. We had a seat that was facing the street so it was fun to people watch as we sipped and ate. Food: amazing breakfast selection! We ordered the morning sandwich and barbacoa bowl. The morning sandwich had THICK scrambled eggs which were super soft and tasty. I could've used more salsa verde on it. The bread was barely toasted. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.8/5. It got the job done. The barbacoa bowl was "really good" according to my fiancé. A great source of protein, fresh ingredients, nice flavor, and great portions. He would rate it a 5/5. Coffee: I am a coffee snob so I am quite harsh when it comes to reviewing it. Their machine is a cute La Marzocco. Appropriate sized "for-here" glasses according to the drinks. Plus, they were really cute. Wide variety of drink selection from your standards to the more girly-drinks (if there is such a thing). We ordered a cappuccino and small hot mocha. Latte art 4.5/5, temperature 5/5, flavor 4/5. The espresso didn't stand out to me, very standard flavor profile. However, the chocolate in the mocha was delicious. It's more of a rich, dark chocolate. Nice thin layer of foam. Would recommend to try at least once when you're in Chicago! Glad to have stopped in. read more

I walked over from my hotel right at the time they opened, and it was raining. There was no line, only a handful of people waiting for their order. I got the pistachio croissant, shakshouka pastry, and berry crunch oatmeal. It took about 20-25 minutes, which made no sense because the pastries are in the case and the oatmeal......is oatmeal. I suspect they opened without having all of their prep done because the delay made no sense. Their staff looked frantic. This was my first stop after landing in Chicago (recommended to me by my friend since I've never been). I got the chili crisp egg bowl which I thought was just okay. My friend's breakfast burrito was decent as well but could have been better. Neither of us were amazed with our drinks, I got the goddess sweet cream cold brew. I do believe that maybe I got unlucky with my choices that day, and that this place could redeem itself if I come back and choose something else. We arrived before the 8am Saturday opening, and it was already open with a line that moved fast. There was a large selection of delicious looking things in the case. I picked a chocolate croissant while my husband got a cinnamon roll, and of course, we tried each other's picks. The croissant was absolutely loaded with chocolate cream. It was delicious. The cinnamon roll had a cream cheese frosting. Both items were quite large, so it was good we didn't buy more items or it would have been too much food. My husband had a plain black coffee, too, and enjoyed it. We returned the next day to find a lighter crowd and a slightly different selection of baked goods. What I got: - Sunrise Burrito: 3.5/5 - I'm a bfast burrito gal, so I had to order this. It was super hot, fresh, and filling. The burrito was getting super soggy overtime bc of how steamy the fillings were. Unfortunately, the tomatillo sauce didn't really provide any additional flavor. I wish they cut the burrito in half so it's easier to eat. - Iced Latte w/ Oat Milk: 5/5 - I think I got a good one that day bc it was DELISH!! Not overly milky and I was able to taste the coffee roast, YUM! It even comes with a nice muffin treat! Loved that they don't charge extra for milk alt, like nyc. Okay, so I was really excited to try this spot but I left really unimpressed. The cookie had a crazy amount of cream, and I love cream, but that was so much! Had to finish it over the course of the day and the Lox Bagel was not that great. they, like, cut up the salmon and mixed it into the cream cheese so it was impossible to even know how much salmon there was but I could tell there was a ton of cream cheese I probably wouldnt go back of my own volition. I saw this place from a mile away way and instantly made a beeline. I knew my sweet tooth would be out of control when I walked in and boy was I right. Everything looked good! I really wanted to try the s'mores bar but I'd have to get it whole as they don't serve pieces. I settled for the chocolate chip cookie, a classic, which never disappoints. It was nice because they asked if I wanted it heated up, which I've never had asked before! Let me just say, on a cold day, a warm cookie makes such a difference! The cookie was soft and was up there as one of the better tasting chocolate chip cookies I've had. I def. relished every bite. What a cute but BUSY store! Walked in on our last day in Chicago on a Sunday morning hoping to grab a bit before heading to the airport and we were surprised by how popular this place seemed to be. However, the line was moving very quickly and we had to maybe wait 5 minutes before being shown to our seats. They do ask you to be done in an hour because of the traffic, which was completely fine with us. I ordered the protein bowl and a cold brew with tiramisu cold foam. The bowl tasted like a standard pre-made microwave meal you'd get at Starbucks -- very mid, lacking flavor, and nothing I'd go out of my way to order again. The coffee was the bigger disappointment: I asked for cold brew topped with cold foam (specifically not a latte!), but it came out tasting like MILK with zero coffee flavor. Great service and food! I came here during a rush and was immediately met with host assistance. I was given a menu as I waited, and settled on the strawberry matcha and impossible sandwich. I looooove a specialty coffee but sometimes places can make them too sweet, and they're not enjoyable. I got the bananas foster latte and it was SO good. Sweet - but not too sweet. We got one savory pastry and two sweet and it was incredibly hard for us to decide which one was my favorite. The almond cream stuffed croissant might have been it. My husband's cold brew was so thick and heavy, it was like drinking diesel fuel. (Or what I imagine what it's like to) I got the morning sandwich and I should have asked because I was bummed to see it on regular bread. While visiting Chicago, I stopped by here since my cousin loves this place. I ordered the tiramisu latte, which I haven't seen before so wanted to try. The best way to describe it was mid. It wasn't bad but wasn't great either. The brownie I got wasn't too special either. It was a darker cocoa than I've had before - not that it's bad to be a darker chocolate, I personally wasn't a fan. Food and drink aside, I feel like the space is really cute and the location is great for people watching. The staff were super kind and friendly. The tiramisu coffee and confetti cookie were subpar though - the cookie was ridiculously dry. You order at the front and get a number to put on your table so they know where to bring your items. We were in line, we're told we needed to get in line behind a gentleman, but he let us go because we had been standing in what we thought was the line. My drink is okay, seems very watery, like it has been sitting awhile but the flavor seems great! I do think this place could be awesome, just wasn't a huge hit today. When we went in, the guy making the drinks said they're at about a 10 minute wait and I tried to tell him we hadn't just ordered. There's a lot of seating, however, since it's such a popular cafe, there's still limited seating. They only allow seating for those who are dining in, so all of the tables says "reserved." The service was good. The cashiers and employees were helpful. The food didn't take too long to make. I went during a busy time, and they did well on bringing my food within a mannered time. I had their sunrise burrito which I enjoyed! It had avocado in it that went well with the eggs, beans, and added bacon.
