This is my favorite summer spot because the patio is dog friendly. They have a fantastic selection of food and have gone there for a party. It was catered by the brewery and it was the perfect finger food. They have a great, always rotating beer selection and even have pup food if your doggo is hungry. Great brewery with some great food options. This place is set up like a living room, and office. It's nice to relax, come here have a beer, coffee, tea, pastry, or even lunch. We came here on a Sunday afternoon for a beer and sandwich, they do allow kids, and over the place was 1/2 full. It was quiet. I got an IPA, the frozen coyote, it was great. I also got the roasted red pepper hummus sandwich. It was good, I would have preferred it in a wrap but it comes on a ciabatta. My partner got a turkey sweet potato sandwich. Awesome spot. Great vibe, love the green and spacious indoor space. Outdoor space is super Chicago - you got the el running through just behind the patio area and tons of open table space which is ideal in the summer. It can get a bit hot in the peak of the summer given it's all just blacktop, but it's great come the autumn. I've had some great beers and some not great beers. But that's the beauty of a nano brewery shared space. You try some things, some experimental things and some newer breweries. The food's pretty good to boot. Food generally comes out surprisingly quickly and the sandwiches I've had generally are good. Nothing fancy, nothing super creative, just good reliable food. Looking forward to returning. read more

Pilot Project Brewing bills itself as a "brewery incubator" which is a neat concept. While this Logan Square location is on Milwaukee Avenue, they also have a location in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My lovely wife and I stopped in for a flight of four beers, and it was nice to sample the variety of selections from the hosted breweries. It's a very chill atmosphere, and it was not super crowded during our Sunday afternoon visit so we were pleased to sit at our own table for two and hear each other talk while enjoying beers too. read more

Such a cool brewing incubator! There are so many interesting beers and ciders to choose from, and they have a variety including lagers, IPAs, stouts and sours. They are really nice, patient and helpful with recommendations too! Ask for samples if you can't decide between a few! And I was not prepared for their HUMONGOUS pretzel, but loved it! Three different mustard-based sauces to dip it in too. So good!! Modern, very hipster vibe. Tuesdays happened to be their bocce league/game night--it was very lively. I went there recently for a birthday gathering. The restaurant/brewery was pleasant and clean. We had a greeter who told us about the restaurant and how to order via the QR code or directly at the bar. They also have a patio which is pleasant. The drawback is the train where you can't talk until it passes. We ordered a pretzel and a Cubano sandwich. The pretzel was great, soft and various dips. Plenty to share! The Cubano was good I have had better, the bread was good maybe a little more meat would helped with a little less mayonnaise and mustard. It kinda overwhelmed the sandwich but it was good. I've been in there 3/4 times and every time there is a service issue. For sure there's a lot of breweries in Chicago, and many are so new and small they can't afford their own buildings so they share one with a few. It allows you to try a few of these all at once. Pilot Project isn't itself a brewery, but actually a collection of a few that have gathered together. It's similar to District Brew Yards, but they pour the beers for you and they have an actual food menu. There's some breweries who like to keep it small and this makes the perfect kind of place. After researching this a bit, I was interesting in trying some of the newest breweries. In this building they have a few. This isn't an actual brewery but more like a taproom. It's about $8 a pint. That's kind of high but you do get lots of variety. Among the breweries is Funkytown. I got the Gym Shoe Weather. It's a Belgian Pale Ale. This had notes of candied dates, ground pepper, rye bread, and stone fruit. As for the food, it's good but expensive. It's about $12 for a sandwich. Has a few vegetarian choices. I had the Californian, a sandwich. Good size except no sides came with it. This had arugula, cucumbers, edamame hummus, red onions, and tomatoes. Good in spite of it being expensive. There's also stuff like nachos and more. Good place for trying some not as popular local beers. It has a convenient system to order with QR codes and there's no need to wait around even at checkout to pay. This place gives strong Pacific Northwest vibes, a little bit of adjacent-to-weird Portland mixed with Tahoe. So pretty much an old industrial space now occupied by a craft brewery with a huge selection of crap not made on site, like hard kombucha. As someone with principles, it's hard for me to admit hard kombucha is a good thing. But it is. So if you like manly minimalism in a formerly industrial space (think pipes painted black and made into things, like tables) come on by. Ordered via QR code (slow your roll on the 22%+ automatic tip option, ma'am) and everything arrived instantly on a mild Thursday afternoon. We were looking for a new place to try some brewskis in the Logan Square area today and Pilot Project came up on Yelp. Without any previous knowledge, we went to check it out and have fallen in love! The concept is so awesome! Pilot Project Brewing is a place where micro-breweries that don't have their own taprooms can setup and have their beers available for folks to try and fall in love. Right now they are serving 21 beers/drinks from 5 breweries/beverage companies. So cool! When we first arrived, they had a streamlined and friendly way to greet us and check our COVID vaccine cards. We felt both welcomed and safe. A great balance! Once inside the main space, we were wowed by the wide open, chic, and modern seating area (hence my over abundance of seating photos). It was cozy with plenty of space to spread out. And the courtyard (which will be wonderful for outdoor seating in warmer weather) is covered by a tent so folks can spread out there, too! A great spot to bring groups! Once seated, they have a streamlined way to order using the QR code/app. With descriptions of all 21 beers/beverages on the app, you can get individual glasses OR do a 4 flight taster of any of the 21 drinks. A great way to try lots of different beers. We went the flight route since it was our first time. My favorite beers were the Tolo Noche Dark Lager from Brewer's Kitchen and the Cochin Lemongrass Saison from Azadi Brewing Company. My husband loved all of his beers, but the standout for him was the Mango IPA from Azadi Brewing Company. We can't wait to go back and try more! Also, Pilot has coffee and small bites that we didn't even look at! We look forward to trying these next time as well. Staff were friendly, everything was clean, and prices were reasonable. Finally, we noticed that the Wifi was solid and that several folks were working on computers. We've decided that we want to go back again some afternoon, setup shop, drink, eat, and get work done! Had a great visit here over the weekend with my SO! We got a seat on their patio and the weather was great, so it was such a fun time. The patio is pretty large with a lot of seating. The only downside is the blue line is right next to it, so it gets pretty loud every time the train comes by, but it's not terrible. The inside space is also quite large and looked really nice. To drink, we both ordered flights and all of the beers were so good! My favorite was the lavender IPA and his was the pickle beer. The pickle beer was surprisingly good, and super interesting. I really loved the lavender IPA, it had the perfect amount of lavender flavor. You order and pay for everything online, which is convenient so you don't have to go up to the bar or wait for someone to come around to you. They also offer food that looked pretty good, but we didn't try anything. Can't wait to go back and try more of their beers! read more
