It CAN get really hectic inside with a lot of families and students so make sure to scout your seating arrangements BEFORE ordering (unless dining alone.) There is a line to order and the pastries are in white class along the way already made. Witg your drinks be SURE to ask for either hot or iced as it will come in it's default which varies across states (e.g. Texas, California, Illinois, etc) my drink came hot but in Texas it is iced. Lol. Just now typing this I understand why. This was in May and it was rainy and cold but not too cold. So pretty!

BLUF: It's a Starbucks Reserve. Souvenirs and sweet treats. Ambiance (5/5): It has 5 floors. Floor 1: The Main Roaster: buy beans and merchandise. Floor 2: Princi Bakery: it had pastries and food. Floor 3: Experience Bar: this is where you go for different coffee brewing techniques. Floor 4: Arriviamo Bar: coffee-infused cocktails and spirits. Floor 5: The Roof Deck/Lounge: outdoor terrace space. Closed for maintenance or cleaning when we went. If you're looking for the location-based ornaments, they don't have it. But they have other types of merch to buy. There are elevators and escalators to get to each level. It's a bit dizzying. Drinks (4/5): Normal Starbucks drinks. Nothing special. Service (4/5): Slow and limited. They all have their certain tasks so when one person slows down, the whole line suffered.

Ube coconut latte, matcha butterfly pea swirl cake

The butterfly matcha pea swirl roll cake was pleasant - more on the dry side but not too bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the ube coconut latte and wished there was more ube/coconut taste. Extremely crowded and touristy. Expect to just order, grab, and go, especially on weekends. It was cool to see the interior though.

The vibe here is very cool, it feels equal parts modern, inviting, and full of charm despite the large size. In my opinion, all levels are the same but the concept of having unique experiences on each floor is neat. Baristas were friendly and fast. All treats were goo but not great. I spent $40, but really the quality is more similar to a $20 purchase instead. Nothing was bad, and everything was pretty, but flavor and quality was no difference to any average coffee shop. The coffee was weird. I usually drink my coffee black so the bitterness was fine. However, the mix of sour and sweet was unpleasant.

5 stories and 35,000 square feet of fun and flavor. If you like coffee or Starbucks you will love Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Chicago. They have an expansive selection of coffee, treats, snacks, and drinks far greater than the average store location. This multi-story Starbucks is as beautiful as it is fun, and offers so much to explore from immersive experiences, unique coffee blends, a cocktail bar, and a bakery offering fresh pastries. It is open early starting the day off right at 630am. Plus there is plenty of seating. In terms of service, everyone I interacted with was pleasant and helpful. They have greeters in the front that can direct you to the stations and activities you are seeking. They also offer so much cute merch, both general and Chicago specific. This place is worth adding to your itinerary.

DRINKS I had their signature tiramisu latte. It was a solid latte, but I couldn't taste the tiramisu flavor. It is on the expensive side at $8+ for the drink. FOOD I tried their raspberry croissant. The pastry was flaky, and the raspberry cream was light and not too sweet. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly! You can order at any of the floors. The first floor is largely for grab-and-go customers and ordering at the floors above are typically for sitting down. AMBIANCE Ample seating across floors 2 and upward is available inside the reserve, ranging from tabletop seating to small round tables. Most guests visit the reserve in a tourist capacity, but some visitors were working/studying as well. PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity.

This place is HUGE. 4 floors with different experiences on each level. I went up to the third floor for the affogato and there was even a barista doing a tea-making demo while we were there. The caramel mocha drizzle affogato (7.5/10) was bussin. The espresso was a little strong for me, but overall such a fun dessert-style drink. The tiramisu latte with oat milk (8/10) was my favorite of the two. Loved the nutty flavor and the cold foam on top. Espresso was slightly lighter than I usually like, but it worked really well together. The space itself is really cute and I loved the cups they served everything in. Definitely worth visiting at least once for the experience alone.

My girl friends and I were visiting from San Diego in the beginning of March and when we noticed that our hotel was less than 10 minutes walking to Starbucks Reserve I knew we had to check it out. I was in Seattle in December and learned that their reserve was closed down so I was excited to see what it was all about. We thankfully came a little later in the morning so there wasn't a ton of people but with so many levels there was enough space and baristas to help. We ordered our drinks and food at the top bar, I ordered an iced matcha latte with a ube cold foam and a prosuitto and arugula croissant. The croissant was divine, it was so flavorful and perfect way to start our morning. The matcha was just fine, there wasn't anything special, but did get the job done. This place is beautiful, the baristas are super friendly and fast definitely worth checking out.

Well, this is the famous Starbucks reserve on Michigan Avenue. I don't think they ever anticipated this many people visiting all at once. There's a line to enter. There is another line once you enter to order which is even longer. They do have a bar on top. That line is even longer. There is not enough seating, and most people were standing. There needs to be a better design for the amount of people that come through this Starbucks reserve or limit how many people can be comfortable at each time. It's very modern and I would have loved to experience a little more without looking over everyone's head and bumping elbows.

Tiramisu latte may be the best drink I've ever had from Starbucks. This place is huge and there was plenty of seating. Service was quick since they have multiple bars. Nice to visit, been there, done that .

As much as I'm ashamed to admit it, I've probably been to hundreds of Starbucks locations over the 20 years of my coffee consumption! This is absolutely, without a doubt, the best one! Located on Michigan Ave, it is BUSY and garage parking is really the only way to park, so I'd prepare to walk or use public transport to get here. Spanning 4 floors of Willy Wonka-esque coffee brilliance, you could spend hours just taking it all in! With different menus available on each floor, and a fully loaded bar on the top, you really should plan to walk around before making a decision on what to drink! A wide and diverse cast of characters staff the many spaces and you can tell they LOVE their jobs! You can learn so much from their expertise! On this trip, we enjoyed the Tiramisu Latte and the Salted Caramel Bianco Latte. Both were scrumptious, dessert-style drinks that we enjoyed sipping in the sun from the large windows! It's great to have site-specific drinks that you can't get at standard Starbucks locations. Come early, have patience as lines will absolutely happen, but well worth the stop if you're a fan of coffee or the Starbucks brand.

If you are in the area, and a coffee or tea fan, this is a fun, elevated Starbucks experience. We visited on a Monday and it was still pretty busy, with long lines at the registers on each floor, except the very top floor inside. Be aware that each floor may have a specific menu and you can't get every food item on every floor There us city specific merch here, with fun Chi inspired finds. The breakfast sandwiches are unlike what you might find at your local Starbucks. We also enjoyed trying new sweet treats like the whiskey infused donut and the pistachio cookie. We also shared a coffee flight and it was fun reading the cards to learn about each coffee we tasted. It was a challenge to find a table for 4 around 11 am, but we kept going up the floors until we found an open table. It was still too cold for the top, open air level during our visit, but I look forward to returning when it is warmer weather.

4 stories! I got the tiramisu latte. It was nice with the tiramisu flavored foam. I couldn't really taste the espresso/coffe though. The store is beautiful! Bathrooms on a few floors but pretty limited.

Starbucks Reserve Roastery Chicago Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Starbucks Reserve Roastery Chicago

Do they sell a decent amount of the straw type tumblers here or just a few select ones?

They continue to get a nice selection seasonally.

When is the best time to visit if we don't want to deal with the crowd?

Early morning, before 10 am or at 8 am when they open. There's no line or wait time. After 10 it can be very crowded and they limit the customers entry.

Do have any hard to find or exotic tumblers, or coffee mugs?

Local to Chicago yes, I didn't see any others that stood out.

Are the pastries and food prepared fresh in house?

Absolutely! This is not your neighborhood Starbucks, where the pastries come out of packaging before being warmed. Food is prepped fresh and on-site, and often within viewing. The ovens on the second floor crank out fresh-baked breads like a major… Read more

Can you use partner discounts here?

What time does the cocktail bar open?

How long does it take to wait in line to get in on a weekend?

We haven't seen lines to get in for quite awhile

Are the upper floors open yet? They've been closed the past couple times I've tried to visit.

All floors were open when we visited in early December. Not sure if that's still the case with Omicron.

    Do they accept reservations?

You may need reservation only for the rooftop bar. But otherwise, it is not a place where you'd need to make a reservation. On busier days they control how many people they let in but it is always first come first served.

Are they open for dine in yet?

Yes! As of today, May 7, limited seating indoor is available.

The check marks above are confusing it says No In Person visits but yes to In Person dining. Will this change by June 2021, which is when I will be there to visit? I am hoping by June, Chicago is in a better place where they can allow for it.

It's May 7, 2021 and they just opened limited seating inside--today!!

Is dine-in an option yet? I know many places have opened up for limited dine in, in the Chicagoland area. Thanks!

No, I just went in yesterday and it is not opened for dine in yet.

    Can you dine now?

Not as of last week, but hopefully soon.

Is it open today for dine in (oct. 30)?

There is no longer dine in options in the city of Chicago as of oct 30th ..

What are the updated Covid guidelines? What's the capacity limit? Can you eat/drink inside seated or do you have to take to go? (Posted November 2020 for future readers) thank you!

At that moment, due to current health guidelines relating to COVID, there aren't any that apply for capacity, inside/outside seating or social distancing

Do you need a reservation to sit on the rooftop?

Yes you do need reservations for the rooftop.

Does still have lines to get in?

It didn't when I went on Feb 15 about 7:30 pm. But there were still the line guides outside. Maybe it was just too cold.

    Is there a line?

There is usually a line but it moves very fast. Early in the day or late at night there might not be one.

    What is the lien now?

    GO NOW!!! No line

Can you use the Starbucks app to pay here or Starbucks gift cards?

Yes! I used my app to pay for drinks and souvenirs

With that in mind, the phrase "Happy Monday!" is an oxymoron, even though I send it every week in the Teams chat. Something that helps fight the Monday blues? Coffee! Yet, despite their oxymoronic name, Happy Monday Coffee is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. As someone who doesn't often make coffee runs during the workday, this means my coffee time is relegated to lunch. Some more expanded hours would be helpful not only to me and others like me but also to boost business. Where the coffee itself is concerned, I love the creativity displayed in the latte selections. Even as someone who is not a big latte lover, this is the kind of beverage I always get here. Are these the greatest things ever? No. However, I can't fault them too much, as lattes by design hide the bite of espresso under milk and often sugar. The vibe inside is relaxed and modern-boho, with a tasteful DJ set playing at a reasonable volume on the flatscreen. While I always take my coffee to go, it seems like a comfortable place to relax with a cup for a bit. Finally, I want to give credit to the service. While there isn't often a long line, service is consistently friendly, welcoming, and fast. Their prices aren't the cheapest around, but they are in line with what I'd expect for premium beverages in a high-traffic, downtown area. Final Verdict: Does Happy Monday have the best coffee anywhere that has me stopping in religiously? No. However, as someone who drinks soda rather rarely, when I am craving a solid and creative latte while at the office, Happy Monday is the first place that comes to mind.
