Very cool place. Apparently, it's the largest Starbucks in the world at 35,000 square feet. Five stories but the fifth floor terrace was closed for renovation when we went. Go before 10 AM; otherwise, you'll be lining up for stuff. The first floor is merch, second floor food and coffee, third floor coffee experiences, and fourth floor the bar. I made a beeline to the second floor for some unique baked goodies such as the strawberry matcha financier and the hashbrown egg cup. So good! Love what they've done with the space. It just screams treehouse vibes and you can feel free to move around to different floors to look for seating. We ended up on fourth floor and tried out their cocktail flight (ube martini, matcha margarita, espresso martini,). Definitely something you can't get at a regular Starbucks. Because this is such a tourist destination it can be quite chaotic inside so depending on what time of the day you arrive be prepared for a crowd. There's a ton of food available: sandwiches, pastries, and even alcoholic beverages on the top floor! There's barrel aged whiskey was delicious and my favorite was the espresso martini flight. Stopped by here when I was in Chicago fully knowing it was going to be busy and a tourist attraction. They had multiple levels but they looked to all be serving the same pastries and limited drink menu. I understand you could have booked an option to do a tour and join a mixology class if you like those. I preferred the sugar croissant over the chocolate hazelnut croissant but both yummy. I would say the prices were fair with bakery prices nothing to outrageous. The difference - this is definitely different from your normal Starbucks in regards to the food and some drinks. They don't have a full drink menu like your typical neighborhood one and they have more gourmet food options. Visited the Starbucks Reserve Roastery again while spending some time in the Windy City. No matter how many times you stop by, the atmosphere is still pretty cool. The huge space, different coffee bars, and overall energy make it feel more like a coffee experience than a regular Starbucks. I kept it simple with an Americano on my first visit, and it was very good--smooth, well made, and exactly what I expected from the Reserve. That said, Chicago has so many excellent specialty coffee shops that a good Americano alone isn't necessarily enough to make this place stand out. I came back the next day and tried the Tiramisu Latte. This one was just okay for me. The flavor was interesting, but mine was served barely warm, which took away from the experience. At around $12, I expected something a little more memorable and definitely served at a better temperature. Hard to justify that price for me personally. The bakery, however, was awesome. I tried a few different croissants and baked pastries during my visits, and they were easily one of the highlights--fresh, flaky, buttery, and great with coffee. Honestly, I enjoyed the bakery items more than the Tiramisu Latte. Overall, I still enjoy stopping here whenever I'm in Chicago. The atmosphere alone makes it worth visiting, and there's always something interesting to try. Next time, I'll probably stay with the drip and specialty coffees that really showcase what the Reserve Roastery is about, grab a croissant, and skip the pricey flavored latte. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect at the World's Largest Starbuck's but when I went there, I was amazed and impressed. Very interesting with the very futuristic decor, the 4 very different levels and the spaciousness. We spent an hour there because after looking at everything, we had to have a Starbucks coffee and a small dessert and relax. The wonderful smells get to you and you can't leave. The 1st floor offers a quick coffee and bite to go plus merchandise. The 2nd foor offers a cafe & bakery with goodies freshly made in their open kitchen. You can get sandwiches, pastries, breakfast, snaks, coffee , tea. That's were we stopped to eat. The 3rd floor offers different coffee creation to deepen your knowledge about coffee. The 4th floor offers coffee-inspired cocktails, beer, wine and sweet bites. We were there in June on a weekday and there was a long line out the door and a half a block back but it does move quickly. Inside it is packed with people but it was pretty orderly. We went to all 4 floors by escalator. There are lines for the restrooms also, as you can imagine. Some people were impatient and it was awkward being around them. I don't care much for huge crowds but sometimes there is nothing you can do about it. The Reserve is an experience that you want to have. We enjoyed it. You can buy delicious pastries and great souvenirs there. Their decor was unlike any of their regular stores. A must see. This is a beautiful large 4 stories Starbucks cafe that is always crowded even late at night. Our first attempt was around 8pm on weekday but the line was out of the door. So, we ended up visiting it again the next day close to 9pm. This time, there was no line to enter but the line to buy some drinks inside was pretty long. There were also limited seats inside and there were just too many people inside so I didn't feel comfortable. We ended up just exploring the stores and looked around for the service that they provided. They also have some classes and tour that you can book ahead of time. There was a merchandise store at the first floor as well as regular coffee bar. The second floor was more like a bakery with selections of pastry and baked goods. The third floor was a more fancy coffee experience and there is a coffee tasting available. The fourth floor was the cocktail bar for alcoholic beverages. The cafe is beautifully designed and decorated. I wish that we could enjoy a cup of coffee there. read more

While I was riding in an Uber in Chicago, I don't even remember how the conversation came up, but my driver mentioned the Starbucks Reserve Roastery on Michigan Avenue and told me it was the biggest Starbucks in the world. Well, of course I had to go see it! Especially because my sister LOVES Starbucks. This is definitely **not your regular neighborhood Starbucks The place is HUGE five levels! The top level is a rooftop area, but unfortunately it was closed when I visited. It's right on Michigan Avenue in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, so don't expect easy parking right out front. I was taking Uber, and my driver dropped me off on a side street, which made things much easier. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted at the door, and everyone I encountered was really nice. There was merchandise available mugs, cups, T-shirts, bags, umbrellas, little espresso cups, etc.--although I expected them to have a little more. And some of those prices definitely reminded me that I was at the Starbucks Reserve! What makes this place interesting is that every level offers something different. There's an area where you can explore different coffees and flavors, another with beautiful pastries, and you can actually see some of the process happening. They had this really cool setup with the pastries moving around that immediately caught my attention. There's even a bar inside Starbucks!** The building also has some really interesting artwork and this HUGE centerpiece running through it. You can also see parts of the coffee-roasting operation, which was really cool. I didn't stand in the lines for the bar or do any of the full coffee experiences this time because it was pretty busy. They were even giving out little coffee samples, though! I definitely want to go back. One of my coworkers mentioned visiting the roastery while we were town so I decided to go check it out. We came in before 11AM and it was fairly crowded but not enough to deter us from ordering on the 2nd floor where you can get breakfast entrees and drinks. The service was quick and the coffee, pastries and breakfast sandwiches were all delicious! It was fun to explore and it's a much different experience from the typical Starbucks with more food and drink choices. Having been to the Seattle location before it closed, I was so excited to check out this massive 4 story Chicago Roastery! Each floor offers a uniquely curated experience. We went during Lollapalooza weekend, and the 4th-floor cocktail bar had an awesome DJ and a great vibe. My wife ordered the Roastery-exclusive Malt Shake (a must try!), and I got the new Paradise Duo flight. The flight is a two-part tasting that comes deconstructed with little cups of ingredients you get to pour into the drinks yourself, which made for a really cool, hands-on experience. Service and planning has declined significantly. We came right at 11am for lunch and they were out of nearly half the menu during a busy Saturday rush. Tables weren't cleared efficiently and I think most of the reason the line is so long is because at the counter everyone is trying to figure out what they want to eat when their top choice is not available. In today's age, can you afford to have an out of town visitor coming to your establishment set on a special menu item, wait 45min and then be left unsatisfied? It seems to me that in the current digital age, there might be a better way. Use yesterday's sales to drive what to make more of. Update the online menu to only show the items you currently have, use self service kiosks, or take orders cafeteria style so the customer can make that decision while they still see the food available. read more

Tried to come in at 7 before the crowd, but just be aware the other floors open later. Only the 1st floor is opened earlier. We ordered a drink and later then came back when all the other floors were opened. Each floor has their own specific menus but some of them have the same bakery items all around. We ordered the pistachio croissant 5/5, not too sweet, was fresh, crispy, and flaky all around. Egg and cheddar breakfast sandwich 3/5-egg was super fluffy and bun soft and it was filling but wasn't anything mind blowing. Crispy hash brown cup 1/5- no flavor or seasoning at all. Herb croissant-3/5 pretty decent. Service and hospitality were great, had a staff member come up to us and ask us if we were enjoying everything. Whenever coming to a city with a Starbucks Reserve Roastery, I always make sure to visit to try out the various items on the menu. The menu is almost completely different than the usual Starbucks menu with different drinks, food items, and even alcohol. The Chicago location has four floors offering food and drink and a rooftop fifth floor which was unfortunately closed during my visit. The place is very large and gives off a somewhat sophisticated cafe aesthetic. Exclusive merchandise and coffee beans are also available for sale on the first floor. The lines are long but move fairly quickly. Of note, Starbucks stars can be earned but not redeemed here, however the birthday reward can be used for non-alcoholic purchases. I had the Double Matcha Margarita from the 4th Floor Arriviamo Cocktail Bar and the Matcha Butterfly Pea Swirl Cake and Tropical Coconut Mousse Cake from the 2nd Floor Starbucks Reserve Cafe. The Double Matcha Margarita had tequila, matcha, lime juice, agave nectar, and matcha cold foam. I was intrigued by the ingredient combination but unfortunately the drink didn't taste like much other than tequila with a hint of lime. Although the drink was evidently green and I saw the barista whisking the matcha, the matcha taste was lost in the mix. What also may have contributed to the lack of flavor was the huge singular ice cube taking up more than half of the volume of the cup; it most likely diluted the drink as it continued to melt. I would've asked for no ice if I knew the ice cube would be that large. For $18 this drink was a huge letdown despite its nice presentation. Since I'm a fan of matcha and butterfly pea tea, which is often rare to find on a menu, I knew I had to order the Matcha Butterfly Pea Swirl Cake. The matcha green tea cake was denser than I expected but it tasted very good; the matcha flavor was there and it wasn't too sweet. The vanilla butterfly pea flower ganache was executed well although I would've liked a little more butterfly pea tea flavor and perhaps color. Overall this was really good and worth the $11.50 paid. The Tropical Coconut Mousse Cake is described to have coconut almond sponge cake, mango gelée filling, coconut mousse, passion fruit gelée, white chocolate ganache, and lime zest. My favorite part of the cake was the coconut mousse and passion fruit gelée while the other components seemed to get lost in the mix. The passion fruit portion was not too sweet and overall this dessert was light and enjoyable. This was also $11.50 and I felt the price was justifiable, but if I had to choose one of the two desserts I would definitely choose the matcha swirl cake. Although I enjoyed my desserts, my matcha margarita did not live up to my expectations for a Starbucks Reserve Roastery. Also, the overall menu selection didn't impress me since I wasn't thrilled with the Savory Bites & Plates offerings. For this Chicago location, I would recommend coming after having a meal elsewhere to enjoy drinks and dessert afterward. read more

I've been mourning the loss of Seattles reserve roastery, and was ecstatic to see that the merch still say Seattle on it (for now). My hotel was only a block away from the Starbucks Reserve in Chicago, so I decided to check it out. I've visited the Starbucks Reserve in Seattle, and I thought it was cool how the Chicago location had its own unique look and feel. I decided to order a beverage from the coffee bar on the first floor. In-app ordering is not an option, so I waited about ten minutes in line to place my order. While I waited, I noticed how the pastries on display looked much more elevated than those typically offered at Starbucks. Since Starbucks Reserve locations offer an enhanced menu, I decided to try the nitro cold brew with yuzu foam. While I waited for my drink to be prepared, I took the spiral staircase to the other floors, stopping to check out the cafe and tasting room upstairs. If I had more time to spare, I would have liked to participate in a coffee tasting session and enjoy a meal at the cafe or bar. I picked up my drink back on the first floor after about 15 minutes. While I did not enjoy the flavor of the yuzu foam in my cold brew, the overall experience of visiting the Starbucks Reserve was worth it. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the sauce was tomato basil flavorful matched perfectly with the sour dough bread. The ube matcha iced hit the spot too since I had been walking for a bit. It was not super sweet and the ube foam complements it well. The service was okay, they were busy. I had to wait for a while. I noticed they would leave partial orders on counter until the rest is out. I would recommend they provide food and drinks as they come out instead of food cooling and iced drinks diluting. I was in Seattle in December and learned that their reserve was closed down so I was excited to see what it was all about. We ordered our drinks and food at the top bar, I ordered an iced matcha latte with a ube cold foam and a prosuitto and arugula croissant. Absolutely love visiting here! This was my second visit and I have a great experience, every time! The line was a little long to get in (we went on a Saturday), but it moved quickly. There was also someone outside to offer their newest coffee! I am not a black coffee drinker but the Wiskey Reserve could absolutely and should be drank with nothing in it. I love coming here for the uniqness that is offered, that your typical Starbucks doesn't have. On the 4th floor there is a bar area. The staff is really nice and super helpful! Well, this is the famous Starbucks reserve on Michigan Avenue. I don't think they ever anticipated this many people visiting all at once. There's a line to enter. There is another line once you enter to order which is even longer. They do have a bar on top. That line is even longer. There is not enough seating, and most people were standing. There needs to be a better design for the amount of people that come through this Starbucks reserve or limit how many people can be comfortable at each time. It's very modern and I would have loved to experience a little more without looking over everyone's head and bumping elbows. read more

The butterfly matcha pea swirl roll cake was pleasant - more on the dry side but not too bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the ube coconut latte and wished there was more ube/coconut taste. I don't usually post review but the Starbucks employee messed up my order even after listing all the orders on my memo app. We're waiting in a long line to get inside and on top of that we're waiting additional time to get to the cashier on the second floor. After waiting some time to get our drinks and food. We're missing the egg purgatory and one of our drinks. The egg purgatory I was told that it'll take 50 mins until it's ready. Since it's only sold on second floor I'f have to get in line again and waiting additional time for the food to get prepared. I understand it's busy and hectic but also understand that we waited in line for a very long time plus additional waiting time for the food/drinks not to get the items we wanted. The largest size they sell is grande. My tip is if you order multiple items please double check the receipt before leaving the cashier because they might not add everything you ordered. read more

The vibe here is very cool, it feels equal parts modern, inviting, and full of charm despite the large size. In my opinion, all levels are the same but the concept of having unique experiences on each floor is neat. Baristas were friendly and fast. All treats were goo but not great. I spent $40, but really the quality is more similar to a $20 purchase instead. Nothing was bad, and everything was pretty, but flavor and quality was no difference to any average coffee shop. It is open early starting the day off right at 630am. Plus there is plenty of seating. In terms of service, everyone I interacted with was pleasant and helpful. They have greeters in the front that can direct you to the stations and activities you are seeking. They also offer so much cute merch, both general and Chicago specific. This place is HUGE. 4 floors with different experiences on each level. I went up to the third floor for the affogato and there was even a barista doing a tea-making demo while we were there. The caramel mocha drizzle affogato (7.5/10) was bussin. The espresso was a little strong for me, but overall such a fun dessert-style drink. The tiramisu latte with oat milk (8/10) was my favorite of the two. Loved the nutty flavor and the cold foam on top. Espresso was slightly lighter than I usually like, but it worked really well together. The space itself is really cute and I loved the cups they served everything in. Definitely worth visiting at least once for the experience alone. read more

Our Uber driver informed us that there would be long lines and waits and she was not wrong! It was cool to see the largest Starbucks, but I was incredibly disappointed in the espresso martini flight. I love espresso martinis, but these were not good. read more
