It has been rainy all week so we called to cancel them the little girls said she couldn't refund my money bc of their cancellation policy I said we're still in the time bracket and she said no. One of the carts wouldn't be ven turn on, the other was missing the windshield! Then the guy said we had to go fill them up! For $145 a day you would think gas would be included. Stay clear. First, we did a "Two Day Rental" for pick up in the morning. As I'm about to leave in my cart they have me sign for drop off the NEXT DAY. Basically 36 hours or I have to pay extra. Apparently A day for them means during day light. Next, the cart they gave me was so busted I'm surprised it didn't break down. It looked ok at first glance but then I got in, the power was weak, everything was so rusted it took a lot of muscle to steer it, every bit and bolt was so loose it felt like it would shake apart at every bump. The back seat LITERALLY fell off because the bolts broke off from the rust. The mirror was being held on by zip tie. It was so u comfortable we had to drive it at 5mph. Have some decency people. We rented a 6 seater golf cart to pick up the Sat we got into town and drop off Wednesday morning when we left. I made the reservation six months in advance and we picked up the cart that Sat when we arrive at 2 PM under the impression it would be due before 2 PM on Wed for a four day rental. Our receipt (see attached photo) vaguely says we had a 4 -day rental starting on Sat. Nowhere does it state a specific time the cart was due nor does it define Jackfishes definition of what they mean by 4-day rental. We assumed a 4-say rental starts at pickup and a day is counted as a 24-hour day. There wasn't any disclosure or statement from the company in their website, within their waiver agreement I had to sign (see photo), not on my receipt emailed to my phone (refer to photo). We returned the cart by 1030 AM Wed and spoke to Sam, the manager who told us it was due back Tues evening by 7 Pm. She told us that their definition of a day's rental is from 9a-7p the same calendar day. We told her there was no discussion not anywhere in our waiver or receipt that said it was due back by Wednesday. She proceeded to tell us we were wrong and should read their website and the waiver more closely. She also said they wrote it on the paper waiver I signed at checkout (see attached, I took this photo during this discussion when we returned the cart). I told her when I signed that paper, nothing was written nor was discussed about the drop off time and if that paper was the document they were going off of, I should've had a copy of it. As a consumer, I'm going off of what I have access to which is their website, waiver, and my emailed recipe and nowhere does it define what a "day rental" is nor state it was needed back by Wed evening. We also asked, since they consider day rental based on the calendar day and not 24-hours, if we would then get a discount since we picked up at 2 PM and our cart broke down within 2 hours later and they didn't get to our condo to replace us with a new one until around 530. So based on their calendar day policy, we were charged a full day to only have a working cart for about 3 hours and she said no. We also asked, what if we would have picked up the rental at 6 pm, we would've been charged for a full day based on their policy that it would need to be returned by 7 pm? Sam, said yes. This makes absolutely no sense and had I been made aware of their "policy" I wouldn't have reserved from them l. While Sam, my husband and I were talking, Ben, an employee kept mocking us, rolling his eyes, and moaning. Another employee was doing the same thing while clicking a pen. The whole staff completely gaslit us into making it seem it was an oversight on our part and we didn't understand them or check their policy enough. After leaving, I went to look at their reviews and there are COUNTLESS of people who have experienced the SAME THING. I also went back and looked at the waiver, website and receipt again and NOWHERE does it state their rental day is 9a-7p. This company seems to make up their own rules and profit over predatory and unethical business practices. They also seem they enjoy abusing their customers. They are aware that their business practices are doing harm to countless people and yet, still have not taken any accountability or changed things. Because of this, we will not go back nor support any other business that these owners own. I will also make it every effort to tell anyone that will listen and report their business to the appropriate agencies to put them on notice to not do this anymore. The owners of this business have several other businesses in Port Aransas (see attached photo) such as Fins, Tortuga's, Macdaddy's, Dolphin Adventures, and the Pirate Adventures that we will no longer go to because of their unethical and predatory business practices. read more

Rented us a cart without working lights. They didn't have our paperwork under the correct name when renting therefore couldn't find it when we returned. Owner stated her daughter "doesn't always read licenses all the way" and "is at least pretty". Told us we should have called if the lights didn't work. Then we informed her they didn't answer said phone number she said...we then compared phone logs, where the owner then said "oh I did forget the phone inside that day". They offer a discount on pizza but that's not helpful when they can't answer the phone. read more

We rented 2 carts from Jackfish and the pick up was simple and they were very courteous. The cart we were supposed to get looked lovely, but when he turned it on, it was making a noise that persisted when he took it for a trial run so he took me to another lot to choose from some obviously older models. I took one of those and was on my way. The next day after we were out on a deep sea fishing trip and having lunch at the warf, it wouldn't start so we called and after a short wait they brought us another one- an inconvenience after being on the water all morning, but it was fine. The next day (after we'd had the other cart 2 days) the back seat came loose so we had to call them about that. After looking it over, they informed us that we would be charged $400 for the replacement part. After we spent about $1740 for the two carts for 5 days and had operated both carts in what I attest was a responsible fashion, $400 for a part that we did not do anything that should have broken was not acceptable. After talking with an employee and the manager, who refused to give me her name, we had been told that they could charge us or put in a claim to our insurance. That we signed a contract stating that, if we broke something, we would be responsible for it- which is perfectly logical and I do not mind paying for something if we broke it. But if sitting on it while riding to the beach is enough to break the $400 part, I do think they should let you know that. In addition, it was a simple enough fix that we could / would have repaired ourselves had we had any idea that they would charge such and exorbitant fee for, but they requested that we call them about anything that was wrong to let them take care of it. I feel confident that we honored our side of the contract and acted in good faith. I don't think I've ever written a review like this before. We love port a, are staying in a lovely beach house with great friends our ours, have enjoyed fishing, surf lessons, even sand castle lessons which were all fabulous. We will be back, but I do wish I had this warning about jackfish cart rentals when planning the trip. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I have never written a bad review until today! We booked a golf cart ahead of time for my bachelorette party. We were excited because they had speakers and were very nice (online) When we went to pick up the cart they made us go inside and sign forms before even looking at the cart. Once we get one they looked nothing like online, were all sandy and I was very disappointed but it had a radio so I figured I would rinse it and go about my business. As soon as we left we noticed our cart was slow and very hard to steer. By slow I mean to the point I had 10 cars behind me, was flipped off twice, and even another golf cart passed me up by afar. I decided to turn around and see if maybe there was something wrong with my cart. When I get there they informed me that the carts are governed out at 18 mph and tried to give me another cart that was apparently faster. So I take it and it's even worse with a seatbelt unable to be used.I went back again and told them my issue. As much we wanted a cart we were told we could have this new cart but it had no radio. So I asked well can we get some sort of discount since I did pay for one with a radio and was told they were not offering discounts at this time. At this point I'm just ready to get back to my condo because it was getting late. I said it's okay I am just going to go elsewhere since these carts were nothing like the photos and no where on the site did they state they govern out. I'm not kidding when I say it would've taken me 30 min to get across port aransas in this slow cart. They refused and told me they had a 48 hour cancellation policy and expressed I had already signed the contract. I told them that if I had known the cart was nothing like what was pictured, was hard to steer, and governed out at 18 mph I would've never booked. I also stated that they made me sign before showing me any cart as well. (For context I work at a golf course and am in carts all the time and this was not normal) I am now out $389 for a cart I didn't even use with a manager & owner who did nothing about the situation. They said the owner is waiting for stuff to break before they fix or replace anything. Worst experience ever. Avoid if possible. They charge too much for shit carts. Went here because of there themed carts. We already had an online reservation, just needed to pick up cart. Found long line of visitors waiting for the same thing. Only one person working. Would think on a holiday Friday that would not be the case? Once it was time for us to find a cart, we found that they were all very worn down, not well maintained and really had been used hard. Our first cart cart we had to take back because it wouldn't reverse. The next one we kept but it kept slipping gears. Really liked the themed cart idea for the kids, but next time will just stick with silver sands carts or Brons. read more

My friends and I were in town for a fun beach trip on memorial day weekend. we were very parched and craved a snow cone, so we went to jack fish to get one. when we went in, the cashier looked unamused that we walked in. I ordered a small bubble gum snow cone, which was extremely over priced. i waited a pretty long time considering i was the only one in the store, and when i got it, it wasn't even the flavor i ordered! i still ate it, but it was just chunks of pure ice! If I could give this horrible little business zero stars I would. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. We rented a cart at 5 on Sunday night for 24 hours. We validated with the owners and the other employee that we were staying at a Gulf Waters RV resort and received no issue with the use of the cart. Upon leaving the office we drove 2 blocks to the beach and were immediately stopped by the police. They explained that the type of cart we were rented was illegal to drive on the beach. Why would the owners not have enough business sense to know the local rules? Seemed Shady. We turned around and drove back to the office. When we told them that we were stopped they immediately acknowledged they knew the cart was illegal. They said the Chief of police had counseled with them and told them they had a two day pass to get compliant. DO YOU NOT THINK THIS WAS A VITAL PIECE OF INFORMATION THAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD? At this point we should have listened to our gut and told them to keep the cart and get our money back then. But no.....hindsight. So...we proceeded with our cart back down the beach. We drove to our RV sight and parked it and decided to drive our truck back to town to eat since we understood there was rain coming and we were not sure when it would arrive. We left the cart parked the remainder of the night since we were planning to enjoy it early the next day until 5 when we needed to return it. A massive storm came in during the night and cut our early morning beach combing plans until closer to 10 am. When we were preparing to leave for the morning and go down to the beach, we had received a citation for the cart from the RV park indicating this cart was not permitted on their property. Well, now we can't use the cart that Jackfish fully well knew we were taking to Gulf Waters. Great. Incredible. Now to the good part. Returning a "illegal-but-ok-to-use-for-now-golf cart". We pull into the office and go inside. The owners were not present but the employee who was present when we went back after we were stopped by the police was. We showed him the citation and reminded him that we were the ones who were immediately stopped by the police for an illegal cart and that we told him we staying at Gulf Waters yet he didn't tell us we couldn't use his cart in their resort. Attitude up! We asked for a full refund due to the combination of issues and we experienced a rash of attitude and zero customer service. It is a business owners job to know the local rules and regulations and to educate their customers. When he phoned the owner to ask his permission for a refund he referred to us as "I got a guy here..." instead of "our customer needs some help..." not one thing that would have communicated we are valued customers and have a legitimate issue that needs resolving. He refused to offer anything more than a 50% refund even though we returned the cart more than 6 hours early. We will dispute the charge with our bank and receive a full refund. We will also be notifying the many merchants of Port A that this new business is not observing the long held island rules of "do what's right-we are all salty and part of the life". If you use this business, be aware that you are supporting a poorly managed business that only has profit in mind and not you. Since apprising several businesses about our experience today, each one has said "oh no, don't do business with them! They don't know what they are doing!" Downloaded Yelp again just to leave this review. This rental was the the only thing horrible about our trip to Port A. First off there was only one person working when I arrived. I had to wait 15 min for her to be done washing the carts off, another 10 to help someone else turning a cart in, I was helped finished my paperwork and needed the cart. BUT then I had to wait for her to help another couple that came in to do the same thing we were doing when all I needed was the damn keys and cart. The first day I thought my husband was being heavy footed with the cart but turns out it was a bad battery. We luckily broke down at a stop sign and not in the middle of the road. The cart they brought us was all wet and the little trunk area had fish bits (didn't find out until the morning when the smell was overwhelming). Also the carts top seat was leaned so far back I had no back support, who sits like that? I asked if I could have the nasty fish cart until the morning no charge since my experience was so shitty with them. The guy replied back "I didn't give you that cart, I drove it to you" yes and you sprayed it with some water and called it a day. I'm also pregnant, so the jacked up battery cart was hard on me and the fish smell was extra smelly. Not to mention the back pain I have from the front seat. I didn't return the fish cart because we only needed it for a few more hours and I was pretty much done with dealing with these people and their jacked up carts, go to beer hut carts instead. read more
