What a gem Jackie's Sweets is! The name is perfectly fitting, not just for the yummy pastries and cakes, but for the delightful staff as well. This was my second visit, and once again, everyone was incredibly patient and nice. The atmosphere is bright yet cozy, they have plenty of books and a lot of room to catch up with friends or settle in for some work. This time around, we tried the Coco Cloud Matcha. If you enjoy fun and funky beverages, this is a must; it's a blend of coconut water and matcha that somehow tastes sweet and milky while remaining both rich and refreshing. I'm not sure how they pull it off, but I'm obsessed! If you prefer a more traditional option, the Strawberry Matcha is a decadent choice, I love that you can actually taste the fresh strawberry compote. We also had the Tres Leches Coffee, which featured a perfect balance of creaminess and bold espresso notes. We ordered it hot this time, and while I personally find it ideal iced, it's wonderful that it works so well both ways. For treats, we chose the Dulce de Leche cake. While the sponge wasn't quite as moist as I expected, the overall flavor was superb, especially with the addition of the meringue. To balance the sweetness with something salty, we added a savory spinach and feta pastry. Definitely ask for it to be heated for the best experience!Not pictured, but equally noteworthy, were the empanadas. They offer both beef and chicken, served with a delicious green cilantro sauce. Jackie's Sweets truly delivers a top-tier Dominican cake experience. I've had the chance to try many Dominican cakes throughout my life, and this one stands out on another level. We tried both the original and the pineapple versions, and they were incredibly well done--perfectly moist, flavorful, and balanced without being overly sweet. The hospitality of the owner made the experience even better. The environment was warm, welcoming, and really pleasant. I went with a friend, and we ended up staying a bit longer because it's just a great space to relax. We also had coffee, and I highly recommend the mocha latte--smooth, rich, and the perfect complement to the cake. There are so many tempting choices, and overall it's just a great place to visit. Sweet little cafe! Friendly staff and clean restroom which is always appreciated. I was so excited to try the tres leches latte and on a cold morning, it did not disappoint! Super yummy. My brother got the same but iced and he liked his as well. My Dad enjoyed his almond croissant and Americano. There is a variety of sweets to choose from, including several tres leches flavors, although they were a little pricy to me. I tried coconut which was good. I liked the addition of empanadas on the menu. The chicken was nice with the little sauce on the side. Overall, this is a lovely spot and I look forward to returning! read more

So it's been quite some time since I visited Dunellen. I hadn't known about Jackie's sweets, I was introduced to this lovely coffee cafe by my close friend who apparently frequents this location often. The space was friendly and welcoming from the very first step into the establishment. I admired the structure of the menu and the selection of pastries piercing through the display windows. Undecided at the moment but upon asking for suggestions and was referred to the Dominican Dulce de leche slice. I also chose to have matcha latte with a splash of almond milk accompanying it with a bagel and cream cheese. Overall my experience here was absolutely amazing and everything tastes A1. I love having a Dominican bakery so close. Everything we've had there has been FABULOUS!!! Honestly, some of the best coconut macaroons I have ever had, and that includes ones I've had in DR. Last week, I had a coconut tree leches cake, and this week a strawberry short cake cup, which were both out of this world. My hubby loves the piña cake, and the kids loved the cake pops and vanilla cupcakes. The cold brew is so good, and the pumpkin sauce is on point. It's not that gross fake syrup stuff. Jackie's Sweets desserts are delicious!! We pass by often and decided to stop in. The cafe is very welcoming and a great place to work. They also have outdoor seating. We approached the counter and was pleasantly surprised with their assortment of flavors. I was fixated by the tres leche. I ordered the passion fruit, vanilla, chicken and beef empanadas. They heat up the empanadas for you. I had mine as soon as I got home. It was stuffed with a lot of seasoned chicken. I was happy with every single bite. A lovely local spot with amazing coffee and pastries! The owner is a local to the area and very friendly. I'm so glad they opened a real coffee shop in the town. They are committed to quality by using filtered water for their coffee, I've gotten several drinks here and tried a few desserts as well (love the mango mousse).
