What a cute neighborhood!! Was walking around on a nice sunny winter morning and decided to stop in. I loved the layout of this coffee shop, there was a lot of tables and a communal sitting table down the middle of the shop. I got a hot white mocha ube latte with almond milk and it was delicious! I love ube. Ube is a flavor that I never see at coffee shops near me. They also have a nice selection of baked goods. While in Somerville for a yelp drop in event we passed Ambee coffee and I immediately wanted to go in. I just started getting into lattes (I've never been a coffee drinker) so trying new cafes has been a fun experience lately. It's funny that i had a latte in mind, because I opted for the Blushing Beet from their Wellness Menu. I was intrigued by the combination of flavors- honey, lavendar and oatmilk. It sounded up my alley, aside from the beet, so I asked the barista about it and she was so helpful and friendly. So I ordered the pretty pink wellness drink and my husband ordered a latte. Both were amazing and actually quite unique. It's a very understated and hip vibe here. In December, I got the chance to participate in a Yelp Elite Experience included December for the Ambee Coffee Co location in Warren. That experience wasn't my favorite, but I figured I'd give the Somerville location a try. This location definitely looks and feels smaller than the one in Warren. However, the staff here were way nicer. One reason why I wanted to give Ambee Coffee another try is because I don't drink coffee. Funny, right? The thing I like about Ambee Coffee is that they have several options for us non-coffee drinkers. They even include non-coffee options in their seasonal drink menus. Another reason why I like Ambee Coffee is because they use a lot of organic and healthier ingredients in their drinks and food. During this visit, I got their spring seasonal drink, a blueberry matcha. I loved the pretty presentation of it with its layers of color. The drink was good. It wasn't super sweet and it was just the pick-me-up that I needed. Overall, I give 4.5 stars, but rounded it up to 5. read more

This is easily one of the best coffee spots in Somerville. Great coffee, solid service, and the music is almost always on point. But recently, they changed the aesthetic. The redesign itself is actually an upgrade--but the new uniforms are not. The baristas now wear these branded T-shirts that make the place feel way more corporate, like it's trying to be Starbucks... which is exactly what this place never was. Part of the charm used to be the people--their style, their personality, their vibe. Now it all feels a little stripped down and generic. I had a pistachio milk matcha latte and it was amazing! Truly the best one I have ever had. We also got the turkey fig and Brie sandwich which they heated up, it was good! The service was good and fast. I wish the space was a little more cozy, had some cushioned seats because that's more of my vibe but it's a great spot to work or have a get together. First time visiting Ambee Coffee and had a great experience! We came in quite early one Saturday morning (only a few minutes from their opening time) and i guess that was key! Lol town was still peaceful with no crowds yet and so was the cafe. Inside felt brand new and decor was a vibe. It was cool that they have a live band (not that early of course) and they also have outdoor seating. They only have limited eats though unlike the other branch- only pastries and cookies, which is totally fine. The barista during our visit was wonderful - pleasant, accommodating and made cute latte arts! Hubster, as usual, had a plain latte and I had their cherry ube. It was pretty good. I still like my ube latte "pinoy style" but this was different and I like trying new things with lattes. The Everything croissant with cream cheese was delicious and the cheddar jalapeño scone too! Im not a big scone eater but the one they have here are enjoyable. The cookies were definitely a nice treat too! This cafe is a drive but we're glad we came to visit. The brown butter cookie was scrumptious - nice flavor, a decent size. The matcha latte was okay. I saw it on their online menu, but not the in-store menu. Unfortunately this latte was more lukewarm than hot. I wonder if they just threw this into the microwave for :30. The flavor wasn't there for me either - it more so sat at the top of the cup which was only filled a little more than halfway. I also checked in on Yelp and showed the $2 off offer to the cashier and he half acknowledged it and didn't honor it. Again, unfortunate. My friend ordered the lavender lemonade which neither she nor her husband finished because it was way too sour. The barista was super sweet, we were a party of four with two kids and was very patient with us. We got the maple Ube latte, nitro cold brew, hot chocolate. Pastries that we got were almond croissant, butter croissant, cheddar scallion scone, cold brew coffee donut and apple cider donut. I got the maple Ube latte, usually the Ube is very sweet and has an overpowering taste but this was very subtle which I love! The modern aesthetic of the Somerville location is warm and welcoming, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, friendly and knowledgeable staff that are happy to offer their recommendations without sounding pretentious, and free WiFi for those who need to get some work done or seek a temporary distraction from those around them. Ambee also provides an intimate venue for local musicians to perform, with an acoustic guitarist playing an eclectic mix of covers and original modern rock on a Sunday afternoon when a friend and I stopped in for a coffee. I originally told my sister I would treat her to coffee but after ordering my drink and seeing it come out to $7 I told her we were sharing lol. I think the cookie was a Salted Caramel Chocolate cookie that didn't taste like caramel at all. Just very muted chocolate. The texture of the cookie wasn't the best either, slightly too hard.
