For a restaurant that is inside a hotel the food is better than expected. The server that took care of me needed to come around a little more than he did. He was okay, he just wasn't great. Forgot about refilling the water pitcher a few times while coming to check on the table. The restaurant itself is very nice and clean. Quiet enough to hear the person across from you without having to talk real loud. I ordered the cheeseburger with truffle fries and the food came out hot and tasted really good. We came here a little last minute with a large party but they were able to accommodated! We had a private area with a curtain that could shut. We had two different servers helping us and I thought they were extremely friendly, patient, and stayed checking on us and keeping our drinks filled. We order several starters so I got to try the charcuterie board (the meats looks a bit strange so I only ate the cheese. Brussels were delicious. The truffle fries were good. And we also got bread that came with 2 different butters. I ordered the steak frites for my dinner. Since it comes with truffle fries and we ordered that as a starter - I subbed for smashed red potatoes. The steak had a lot of butter on it but it was cooked how I asked and tasteful. The dinner rolls are obscenely good. The servers were very good. I was there Tuesday evening, June 17. The "music," playing on a repeating track of 6 or 8 "songs," was absolutely abominable, the worst "music" I ever remember hearing in a restaurant in my entire life. One "song" sounded like a hillbilly being strangled, and the others were only slightly better. The only positive was that the horrible "music" wasn't any louder. David Haskell the manager is awful. We came into this establishment at the end of an evening to have a few drinks with our college son. We sat down at a table. We brought along some cards to play. My husband was standing in line to order drinks at the bar. Mr Haskell came up to us and asked if he could help us. He really didn't want to help us as much as he wanted us to vacate his establishment. He told us he could play games in the room next to the restaurant/bar. Escorted us to the room. We were not allowed to order food or drink. We were paying guests of Hilton and Hilton Honors members. We have never been treated as such in any other Hilton restaurants or bars with my family. Marble City is the restaurant in the lobby of the Hilton Knoxville. After being turned away or presented with long waits at restaurants in Market Square, we landed back here and hand a decent meal. For my lovely wife, she had the fried green tomatoes and French onion soup. The tomatoes were reasonable though dry and the soup was excellent with a well soaked slice of bread in there with a nice gruyere topping. My chicken wings were good. Not wet, flavorful and reasonably meaty. The Cobb salad (plus a chicken breast) as my main was odd with large chunks of romaine lettuce including some core. The smoked bacon had a very strong flavor and I'm not sure why there was corn or pickled onions. I think it ended up as a "kitchen sink" sort of salad that was okay but far from a Cobb. Service was friendly and attentive. With just three starters and one main course, this ended up being the most expensive meal of our weekend in Knoxville but it was nice to earn Hilton points for it. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! We had booked another restaurant four months ago, but the restaurant had to cancel three hours before our reservation because of a power outage. In a panic because it was for a party of 10 celebrating a college graduation, I called and spoke with Mike, the restaurant manager. He was able to accommodate our group. When we arrived, we were in a private area with a beautiful floral arrangement as a centerpiece on the marble table. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. No pistachio pralines, and awful tasting watercress soaked in some kind of dressing. I also ordered it with grilled chicken. It was small pieces ... I ate those and my stomach churned. My wife and I tried this restaurant before seeing a show simply because we had a BOGO coupon. The place was empty and we were allowed to select our table. The menu is fairly limited, and it's not cheap. We each had a glass of wine (I had Beringer White Zinfandel). We weren't starving, so we ordered what they consider an appetizer, but what we thought counted as a meal. My wife had the shrimp and grits, which was a big bowl, and plenty for one meal. It was very spicy! I had the three cheese flatbread, which, as you would expect was basically a thin crust pizza. I like ALL pizza, so I can't say it wasn't good, but it didn't stand out either. The bill would have exceeded $50, if not for the coupon. Overall, it was not a place I would return to dine at regularly. read more

I hate to leave bad reviews. The food is a 3- overpriced but ok for hotel food. But the service is very disappointing. I put an order in for pickup and a giant "room service" fee was applied to my order even though it wasn't applied to multiple friends who also picked up food. I ordered yesterday and the fee was not added. I was not warned a giant fee would be added. I asked why I had a few and others in my group didn't- the man just gave an aloof shrug. I'm happy to tip the cooks and staff for pickup- I would have- but adding a giant"room service" fee to already overpriced food for a pickup order is beyond the pale. We had some dinner and breakfast here since we were staying in the hotel and it was super convenient. The first night we sat at the bar for a cocktail and also ordered the steak. Everything tasted great and service was good. Then we had breakfast the next morning and the service was even better. I'm not sure her name, but the woman who helped us was great. We had the buffet which included everything you need for a hearty breakfast. We did opt for a made to order omelette and it included the freshest of ingredients. I ate here because I was staying at the hotel and was too exhausted to venture out for dinner. I rather wish I'd gone out. There was almost no one in the restaurant at about 6 on a Friday night. An older woman who seemed to be a manager or hostess leaned on the bar and seemed to just be there to stare at people the whole time. She made me feel self conscious sitting there by myself. She came over at one point and asked me how everything was, which is why I think she might have been the manager. I ordered a Manhattan that was quite good, from the bar. I also ordered their take on a Southern Cobb salad, with watermelon radishes, pickled onion, beets, corn and egg. I left off the bacon and got crab cakes added. The portions were generous. The crab cakes (2) were big, but alas, they had little flavor at all and were slightly fishy. The salad was just okay. The onions were good, but the corn was pointless and forgettable. My waitress was nice and friendly and initially attentive, but I had to wait quite a while to pay my bill, since I didn't want to put it on the room. That's never a good thing. My bill ended up close to $40 and it just wasn't that good. Sorry, Marble City Kitchen. Probably not coming back. read more

We didn't want to venture out of the hotel for our breakfast so we decided to give the hotel restaurant a try. I'm so glad we did. The food was great and our service was even better! I so wish I could remember the wonderful lady behind the bar that seated us and took care of us. She was the best. She took such great care of us that I can't wait to come back to this hotel just to eat here and see her again! The important part is the food though right? We were here for breakfast so we both ordered the breakfast buffet instead of the off the menu. There were so many tasty items to choose from on the buffet and everything I tried was wonderful! The only downside was there was a new toaster that you put the bread of your choice in and it rolled through on a moving surface inside a toaster oven. The problem was it kept burning the bread but no worries because the wonderful lady that was taking care of us tried a few more times and got my bread perfect for me. This restaurant is located inside of the Hilton Knoxville. We were hoping to order room service because we arrive so late after a long day of driving...but that was not an option. We arrived and checked in on a Sunday night at about 8 pm. Thankful that the restaurant was still open because we were starving. There were about a dozen other parties, one server, and one bartender. Suffice it to say, service was a little slow but our server was friendly. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken just came off the grill and was hot and placed on top of the bed of lettuce. When I order a salad with a protein, I much prefer the protein to be at room temperature. The salad was not tossed like most Caesar salads. There was only a little bit of dressing at the bottom of the salad. I wasn't able to ask for more since they were short handed. It wasn't the best Caesar but it has potential ;) I imagine the kitchen staff was scurrying about just trying to get everyone served. Hubby ordered the chicken flatbread. It was yummy. Drinks are fine; food is fine; service stinks. I go here regularly because it's a block from my office and my coworkers like to go after work and I don't like to be left out. The outdoor area is particularly frustrating. I was there earlier this week, and they only had a few customers. Tables have signs that say you should order at the bar. Fine, I'll order at the bar. Had to wait for bartender to finish her text conversation or social media scroll or whatever. Other customers drifted out till it was just my table. Bartender just stood at bar, hopelessly engrossed in her phone. No effort to bus the now-empty tables, see if we wanted another drink, etc. Despite the "bar service only" signs, if she has time for her phone, she has time to do a little work. As far as the experience inside, they do offer table service but it's always slow, especially when you're ready to cash out. If you're staying at the Hilton and don't want to go out or if you're too lazy to walk down to the fun bars on Market Square or Gay Street, Marble Kitchen and Firefly is good enough, but I'd encourage you to venture further. read more

This place is kind of wacky. They've clearly put some thought into the remodel and curating the menu, but the execution is a train wreck. I've been a couple of times, and I think I'm done. I sat in the outdoor area both times. The first visit, a very cold, off-putting bar tender asked me to order before I'd even seen a menu. When I asked for a menu she said she didn't know where they were. Luckily another bartender overheard her and found me a menu. I ordered an Old Fashioned and ended up with whisky, orange juice, and muddled cherries in already-melting ice. I traded that back for a glass of white wine, which is served to me warm because they don't equip the outdoor bar with a fridge? To get many of the beers, they have to go inside to the restaurant because they don't keep them outside. I had fried pickles and another appetizer which were pretty meh. My salad was fine but I think we can thank Mother Nature for that one: it was a bowl of vegetables essentially. Hopefully they can get it together, it looks like a good idea on paper and the remodeling is definitely a major place. Located in Downtown Knoxville Hilton. I checked in around 530 and it was dead. It took 20 min before a bartender came from the back with 3 customers at the bar. She then carded me, which is fine, but I was going to charge my room so I had to go back up and grab my ID. I was doing work a few tables away as people started moving to the bar. I had to go to the bar for drinks and water and the waitress helped all the tables near me until I finally raised my hand to catch her to order. Food was not bad, just the service could be better!!! Both waitresses knew quite a few people around and in my opinion talked to them a bit too much while I waited patiently to order. This restaurant in the hotel lobby proved to be just fine for dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating with full bar. Good options for vegetarians - the veggie power bowl was delicious (Quinoa, kale, sweet potato, avocado, black eyed peas). I can't speak to the quality of the steak bc the meat consumed was chicken - the chicken blt w no bun was apparently very good. Fries are so good - they have regular and sweet potato. Came here because I was already staying at the hotel. Sadly the food was about as bad as it was close. Got the fried chicken for 18 dollars....and honestly would have rather gone hungry. I got two sides too, one was the collard greens, and I cant even remember what the second one was....it was that forgettable. Only got one drink of a Jack and coke, and at 9 dollars for a small glass Im sure glad I did not get another.
